This is one of
four new legendary meta gems coming in 5.2. It is a reward for completing
as part of MoP's legendary questline:
: +324 Crit & Chance on striking with a melee attack to gain Capacitance. When Capacitance reaches X charges, you will deal a Lightning Strike to your current target for 100 Nature damage.
: +324 Int & Chance on casting a helpful spell to make your next spell cost no mana.
: +324 Stamina & Chance on being hit by a melee attack to gain a 20% reduction to physical damage taken for 15 sec.
: +324 Crit & Chance on dealing spell damage to gain 30% spell haste for 10 sec.
: +665 PVP Power & +775 Resilience. In build 16503 this is no longer legendary!
Blizzard confirmed on 7/29 that these meta gems will work in Patch 5.4 Siege of Orgrimmar helms:
Has anyone been able to test the uptime on these metas or are they unavailable in the beta? The client crashes on my computer. :(
Proc rate is as follows.
Courageous Primal Diamond – 1.40 RealPPM on attempting helpful spell. No ICD.
Real PPM (RPPM) description:
Is this triggered by atonement healing?
*Tested - casting Holy fire / smite atonement can't seem to make it proc (did not see any solace proc either)
Penance on hostile target proc it (seen it) (chance on every tick)
heals and other beneficial spells proc it (shield, mending (first cast?) even hymn of hope)
Just acquired it, so i am still testing it.
After you have completed the quest you can buy these meta gems from the vendor
located in the Tavern in the Veiled Stair for 5
Once you collect 20
, you will get a quest to kill
and siphon his essence. Afterwards, Wrathion will ask you to meet him on the top of the mountain like in the 5.0 quest, and reward you with one of the legendary meta gems. The quests to collect 12
and kill Lei Shen appear to just be follow ups.
Some notes, now that I have it-
Unlike most clearcasting procs, the buff is
consumed by the first cast, so you can get multiple free spells off if you can fit them in the 4s window of the buff.
The streak protection they added to the RealPPM system means that a spell you cast after not doing anything for a while is virtually guaranteed to proc it, so keep that in mind when/if you pre-HoT/shield before a pull.
Along those lines, it procs off of virtually everything that the game considers a "spell", including silly things like casting buffs and changing glyphs.
For monks, the only abilities that *don't* proc it are Jab, CJL, Tiger Palm, and Blackout Kick, as they're not beneficial spells, even though they trigger beneficial effects. This is fine, as the RealPPM system means that as long as you cast something that can trigger a proc at least once every 10s (such as ReM on cooldown) you'll get the same uptime as someone who spams abilities that can trigger a proc. Abilities that do damage and non-eminence healing (ie EH, SCK, and your level 30 talents) can proc the buff.
proc off of smite/atonement healing.
It does proc off offensive Penance, however on the CAST which means you do have some 'lost' buff time while you complete the channel... hope you have a Borrowed Time or an instant cast to burn the Clearcasting on!
For druids struggling to keep an eye on this buff and the buff from the legendary gem (
), especially for those using WeakAuras, you are looking for the following spell IDs:
Druid buff: 16870 (
Gem buff: 137247 (
You want to enable "Full Scan (High CPU)" in your trigger tab in WeakAuras so you can be picky about which spell id to select.
That way you don't get the two clearcasting procs overlapping eachother.
In patch 5.3 the gem's clearcasting spell will be renamed to
Courageous Primal Diamond had its clearcasting effect renamed to “Lucidity” to differentiate it from other spells with that name.
I just bought it for my resto off-spec, i spent all my mana casting heal spells on me, i didn't see ANY "buff" of 4 seconds on me , it seems the metagem didnt trigger at all or can someone confirm if it shows a buff on you when it triggers?
After closer watch on my mana, it may have triggered but it just won't announce it in any way :/. This is bad because if we know when it procs we can use different heals while on the effect.
If you're using IceHUD or WeakAuras, this is the correct spell ID to add:
I tried others on this page but they didn't work. I got the spell ID directly from in-game. Edit: Updated some information. Thanks to all who submitted the information they found.
Can currently only be placed in a helm of 502+ ilvl.
I ticketed a GM about this and was told to report it as bug. Hmm.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this legendary gem seems to me worse than (or at least, comparable with) my usual
Revitalizing Primal Diamond
of blue quality.
I'm a disc priest, I use heavy atonement healing and I get approximately 2 of these procs every minute.
However .. I get them primarily from casting Penance, and usually follow with a PW:Solace. I lose a second channeling Penance and another being on the GBC. Most of the clearcasting proc is wasted. I would need to change my healing rotation for this meta gem to actually be good for discipline. I don't want to be hopeful that it procs off my PW:S, Cascade or PoM proc. But if so, I'd spam a couple shields while clearcasting was up.
I'll be using the Sinster Primal Diamond until 5.3!
Manacost is free when you finish your cast
the clearcasting period!
So starting a big heal just before clearcast expires will not do you any good, you will still spend the mana.
If you were already casting a big heal and this procced the cast will be free.
The proc name has been changed to
as of Patch 5.3, the spell IDs for each class remain the same, however.
From a Holy Paladin perspective...
This gem will either be the greatest boon to your arsenal or a worthless addition, depending on whether or not you use it properly.
You NEED an addon of some sort to track when, and for how long, you have the Lucidity Buff. Within the time period that it is active you will have the ability to cast two Flash of Light's, or one (maybe two if you have Divine Favor active) longer heal. Combine this with Glyph of Flash of Light, and you have yourself a mighty combination.
This procs a lot, and sometimes back to back (offering up to 8 seconds of mana free heals!). But if you do not monitor the proc, it is theoretical that this gem will be a DOWNGRADE compared to the normal Metagem.
So a few notes if you take this gem:
1) Monitor Lucidity and know how long your cast times are, plan your casts accordingly.
2) Use Glyph of Flash of Light, cast each one on a different target to increase your next heals on those characters by 10%!
3) If you do not feel comfortable with this playstyle (or you feel you are too unskilled to execute it properly), stick with the normal Metagem as it will wield a better return for you than just ignoring this proc.
4) As others have stated, it is only mana free should the cast FINISH while the proc is active. If you start a cast in the middle of the proc, and the proc falls off before the cast finishes, you will be charged for the heal.
5) This usually procs the second you cast your first heal in a fight. So be ready for that.
6) IT DOES NOT PROC IN CHALLENGE MODES - have a separate helm with a different Meta.
How to utilize
the best as Holy
Since you have very little time to act, your options are limited. But because of this, we can plan everything precisely.
Mana reducing buffs need to be active at the time the mana is spent, which is the end for spells with cast time. You should know, that using cast time spell first, and then an instant is not the same as instant cast first, and then casting, because after instants you have to wait the GCD until you can start the next spell, therefore delaying the finish of the next cast (and mana spending).
So what can you do during this 4 seconds
offers? You have time to cast 1 long heal, 1 short heal, and 1 instant spell.
You have roughly 0.5 seconds to start casting after the proc started, if you want to finish all 3 spells in time. With 3 spells casts you saved around 55k mana. Using FoL might seem unusual at first, but I strongly advise to use it for maximum benefits.
It can be useful to track the proc with an addon, so you won't miss and moment of the duration. There are many ways to do this, I use
. If you do as well, you can use
aura I created.
Im an arcane mage and I was wondering which gem would be better, this or Sinister Primal diamond. As an arcane mage the critical hit increase isn't very useful and the intellect buff would be much nicer. Would it be better to have the 30% haste increase or the ability to cast spells worth no mana. Being an arcane mage keeping your mana up is a priority, but this gem would only be useful if it was able to proc on things that mages did to themselves. Does this Gem proc often with the rune of power heal, Ice barrier or things like arcane power and iceflows. Any help would be appreciated.
Does anyone know if this procs off of HoT ticks or just on the actual cast? Thanks!
Edit: Based on what I've been able to find in various forums (
), it only procs from the actual cast, not HoT ticks.
I think I've found a MAJOR bug. It might just be my addon that's screwing up but...
What I've noticed is that if the Lucidity buff has proc'd and I have it, and I RECALL my totems. I do NOT gain the mana that I was supposed to have gained. (14.4k mana for your healing stream totem if you have it glyphed).
My question is: Can anyone else confirm this to be true? Is this "Working as intended"? :S
EDIT: Instead of down-voting something that by the way is TRUE, why not comment and try and answer my question? :/ I'd like to know if this is how it's supposed to work or not.
Looks like this should be good for PvP next season even if the proc rate is lowered
I think my biggest question is this: is it even worth having by the time you have a 530+ item level? By the time I actually got it, it seemed more beneficial to just use a Primal Diamond from JC rather than use the one from Wrathion.
From a hotfix dated December 16:
Battlegrounds and Arenas
Legendary Metagem effects (Capacitive Primal Diamond, Courageous Primal Diamond, Indomitable Primal Diamond, and Sinister Primal Diamond) should no longer have a chance to activate while in an Arena, Battleground, or Rated Battleground.
Just want to add that it is proccing nearly every time i cast Mind Sear for some odd reason.
this meta gem is pretty weird until now. I haven't tested it in raids/dungeons/party but I just tried it on self healing and it didn't procc even once in about 30 minutes, will return with a comment if I see it procc in a raid/dungeon party.
again, very weird
Not even worth the time after 6.0? Mana is not an issue anymore at level 90, so the proc does not really benefit you, I would say.
For anyone wondering: Similar to the Legendary Cloak, this item will no longer proc upon reaching level 100.
Despite what the notice says, the item is still available and can be purchased from the vendor in the "Sold by" tab.
