Playing around with my new friend, I noticed something very interesting. It does cast a spell which summons a flower ^_^
The letter you get with the egg simply says:
<A large wiggling egg sits in a straw-packed crate pierced with air holes. Who sent this?>
The Moonkin Hatchling has a cute animation where it will jump up and try to fly (then fall back down). This pet has a different model depending on whether you're Alliance or Horde. The horde model is an owlkin, and the alliance model is a moonkin (similar to the alliance/horde boomkin forms). This pet will dance when the /dance emote is used on it.
How to get it
This pet can be purchased from The Blizzard Store for $10.00 or €10.00 or £9.00. As with other account-wide loot codes, it can only be used on a single World of Warcraft account. If you have multiple accounts on a single battle.net account, you must purchase one code per account. This pet will be mailed to all your current characters and new characters upon creation.
Be careful to purchase the correct loot code, as NA codes won't work on EU accounts and vise versa!
This lil fellah doesn't like when you mount on the Mechano-Hog!
RIP Chris Farley.
I'm normally not one for acquiring WoW items irl, but if they make a plushie of this I don't think I'll be able to resist buying one. Or five. Hey, I could have a whole FLOCK of moonkins!
Seems like he can fly with you now!
As of 4.0.6, the Moonkin will flap his wings and fly with you. :)
How to make it summon flowers. Please Reply and tell me
♥Its so cute♥
My moonkin hatchling is flying every time I mount :O
And he's not trying to fly alonger.
Theres was a charaty donation by Blizzard
"In honor of World Wish Day on April 29, Blizzard invited over ten Make-A-Wish children and their families to the Blizzard campus for a day of fun and games. We also helped grant the wishes of two children by giving them an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at World of Warcraft. Thanks to everyone who purchased the Moonkin Hatchling pet, we were able to donate $800,000 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation on behalf of the World of Warcraft community!"
I love when my favorite games help others, especially little kids.
Somehow this little guy reminds me of a Furby =D
I wish he would dance non-stop
The Moonkin Hatchling is sent to your character by "Lunaclaw".
For those interested in trivia, Lunaclaw was the Moonkin that Night Elf and Tauren Druid's once had to fight as part of their Bear Form class quest, called "Body and Heart." Back in the day, it was Lunaclaw who taught Druid's Bear Form, by instilling the strength of his body and his heart into the young druid and bolstering their resolve.
Directly east of Auberdine lay many moonkin caves. The one closest to Auberdine has a Moonkin Stone inside it. Lunaclaw, the defender of the stone, will face you only when Cenarion Moondust is applied to it. Lunaclaw possesses within it a strength that you must use as one of the Claw.
You've earned the right to use this Cenarion Moondust, <Name>... now show me that you've earned the right to possess the strength of body and the strength of heart needed as a druid!
It's so fluffy!
he can also dance just click on the moonkin hatchling /dance and he will dance lol its funny
Just as a heads up to anyone that wants this pet, now is the time to get it.

Don't forget to make a character of the opposite faction when you buy this. You get both the horde and alliance moonkin versions, but only if you claim them from both factions.
Both this pet and it's Horde counterpart (
) have faction restrictions in place which will limit a player's usage depending the faction you are currently logged in as. I just spent 15 minutes trying to figure out why my blood elf could not summon and use the grey moonkin before I realized what was happening.
My favorite model viewer animations for this cute little guy are as follows:
1. Fishing Loop - he's hiding his cute little face!
2. Sleep - what a cute little angel when he's asleep!
3. Cower - He's cute when he's scared too! Awwwwhh
4. Laugh - he looks so happy!
5. Roar - he still looks cute and happy when he tries to be scary.
I like 4 and 5 the most.
Back when this was first released (almost four years ago now) I asked my guild's resident boomkin, "How does it feel to know that my pet has a higher polygon count than you do?"
He was not amused. The rest of the raid got a laugh out of it, though.
Once you purchase The Moonkin Hatchling from the Blizzard store, you receive the pet in your in-game mailbox. To get
horde & alliance versions of the pet be sure to log onto the other faction on a higher lvl character to get it in the mail. I tried a low lvl toon, and for some reason they did not get it in the mail.
IT'S BACK IN SHOP!
No longer available in the Blizzard website pet store.
mount looks great, I'm far more interested in the
mount from the BlizzCon 2019 Giveaway.
Having said that, I would't turn down one of the toys
, or any of the pets such as
(depending on faction).
Must confess that a couple of the items aren't that appealing to me, e.g.
