So am I right in thinking these are one of those new "bind to account" items that changes depending upon your character's level?
Notice that the item level is 1 no matter what level your character is. They can't be enchanted with TBC or WotLK enchants.
Haha, welcome back, shadowcrap! Maybe this time I won't be taking it from a rogue! And THIS time, the stats actually apply (to a druid) fully!
Whats the deal with these - where/what/how do you get them?
A little summary on all info about Heirlooms (last update 12-11-2008).
This item is part of the new system blizzard is implementing in Wrath of the Lich King. This items are bought with tokens like Badges of Justice, the Emblems of Heroism and Stone Keeper’s Shards, which are attained by killing any dungeon boss in Northrend while your faction controls Wintergrasp.
. They bind on account and are interchangeable between any character of that account but not to anyone else's. This item's stats are the level 80 ones, since this special Heirlooms (the new item rarity created specifically to this purpose) scale with your level (Each time you gain levels it's stats increase). The enchants you can apply on them are the level 1 ILevel ones. Their incredible itemization will make your leveling easier and will most likely last to 80 since they are better than the average greens you get to that level.
If a special situatin on the kind of armor it displays happens (example: Warriors wear mail 1-39 plate 40-80), the item "transforms" into the new armor proficiency when you reach the required level.
In adiction, the shoulderparts will increase the experience you gain by 10%. It may sound like "meh. 100 exp becomes 110, big deal", but actually those 10%+exp will make the difference on you leveling's speed.
Spoiled Alts will enjoy this immensely. good one Blizz!
You can get a full list of all Heirlooms here:
(notice, only Shoulder slot items have the +10%EXP bonus!)
The actual (24-10-2008) available slot items are Shoulders (for all prficiencies and specs but tanks), Trinkets (for melee, caster, and Medallions) and Weapons/Ranged (For some reason, no Wands... This may change when Wrath comes. I sincerly hope so... 3 out of 10 classes use it, i dont see why it shouldnt be taken into account...)
Can anyone provide stats for this item at 19/29?
Twinks are gonna go soooooo overpowerd now..
Equip: Increases attack power by 14.
Equip: Increases hit rating by 4.
A hit rating of 2 at L19 increases chance to hit by .95%.
Lets say, you mistakenly buy the wrong item, ie leather shoulders for a mail wearer alt.
Does the item transform to fit the character that wears it?
I'm not talking about the lvl 40 mail to plate change, I'm talking about the wrong armor *type*.
Anyone else think that these should give Agility? XD
Can anyone provide me the stats of this item at lvl 39?
Stacks to 15% increase while rested
After looking back over
My test results
Without vs with
250+125=375 without 10%
276+138=414 with 10%
276-250=26 (thats the 10% on the base xp)
138-125=13 (thats the bonus on the rested)
You gain 26 rep without rested
You gain 13 additional rep with rested
A total increase of 39 rep when rested instead of 26.
So using the shoulders with rested state gives you 15% increase instead of 10% when rested.
You can enchant BoA items
with enchants that require ilvl 1 item, or don't have requirements of ilvl
and do not bind item after enchant
(rep/profession-only "soulbounding enchants" cannot be used on BoA items).
Also 10% bonus stack with rested state:
Additionaly every Heirloom item will change category with profession, for example you can buy Plate shoulders, and send them to warrior on 30 lvl, shoulders will "change" into Mails, and after reaching 40lvl again into Plate.
Also note that these items don't seem to have any durability (noticed in game after I died), thus you will never have to repair them.
No feral druid weapon (i.e mace or staff or anything ) :(
BoA heirloom items do not have durability, therefor do not need repairing.

As of 3.0.8, it appears that ZG enchants no longer work on these shoulders (and I'd assume all heirloom shoulders).
Just tested on my Level 80 Druid who is exalted with the Zandalar Tribe and I get a "Target is too low level" error.
Just so everyone knows;
is the enchant people are talking about that's still working on BoA shoulders!
Greater Inscription of the Gladiator
still works -
and can still be sent to your alts!
Chromatic Mantle of the Dawn
is another option if you have the rep for it. Or one of the lesser enchants.
A Refrence to Tier .5 gear for rouge.
You cant send the +30 sta +15 resi on shoulders enchant anymore those are now BoP
You don't send the enchant, you enchant the shoulders on your main and then send them to your alt.
By applying this enchant, will it change this item from BOA to souldbound?
Glad enchant still works as of april 3rd, 2009. Pre- 3.1
As of the current patch (3.1), the XP bonus from all heirloom shoulders extend to quests, so you get 10% extra experience points from both mob kills and quests. Yay!
As of patch 3.1, the Bind on Account shoulders with PvP enchants will no longer grant that enchant bonus to players below level 70. The other bonuses from the shoulders still work fine, but the enchantment itself appears in red and is inactive for lowbie alts.
I can't check whether you can still enchant the BoA shoulders after the patch, as all three of my shoulder sets were already enchanted. It would seem sensible to assume you can still enchant them, as previous enchantments have been removed entirely (ZG and Naxx40 shoulder enchants) instead of being restricted by level activation.
In short, no more level 1 characters with 300+ health.
You can use any shoulder-enchant on BoA-shoulders now since the change in the 3.1 patch.
But you need to fit the required lvl to gain the benefit, for example last night i enchanted my
Polished Spaulders of Valor
and it got on just fine,
but i needed to be lvl70 to gain the extra attackpower and crit.
who knew you can make a lvl 55 pair of shoulders better just by staining them
Use this macro for the item stats at any level.
/script for i=1,80 do DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("Level "..i..": \124cffe5cc80\124Hitem:42952:0:0:0:0:0:0:0:"..i.."\124h\124h\124r");end
If you want to level multiple toons and don't want to grind heroics for several different types of shoulders then these are the shoulders you want to get. Who all can use these shoulders:
Right now I'm using these shoulders on my 75 hunter 74 ret and 23 enhancement, just mailing them between toons that I use. Note that stamina/AP/hit rating is good for all of these classes. Sure for these 3 specific classes Champion Herod's Shoulder
might be preferable, but what if I decided later I wanted to roll a rogue or a feral? That and the Int on Champion Herod's Shoulder would serve no use for a Warrior or DK.
So what if you lose some armor it is just one slot, my level 74 ret paladin lost 3% armor switching from a blue Nexus plate drop to these shoulders, and his DPS went up slightly in addition to the 10% kill/quest bonus.
Get these leather shoulders for your melee and Tattered Dreadmist Mantle
for your casters and you're set for the exp bonus on all your alts for only 80 Emblems of Heroism.
Btw,in 3.2 Call of the Crusade major content patch, there will be a shadowcraft chest piece, with the same exp bonus that will stack. For more info go to mmo-champion.com.
So apparently staining
makes it better.
And removes the set bonuses.
Anyone know if the 10% applies to battleground exp now?
Any class that benefits from hit rating and attack power in pvp will enjoy the Stained Shadowcraft BoA pieces. This includes warriors, rogues, enhancement shaman, hunters, and feral druids.
Edit: You will want at least 5% hit rating if using a 2h.
Stats at the various twink levels:
Stained Shadowcraft Spaulders
19: +4 Stamina, +4 Hit rating, +14 Attack power
29: +6 Stamina, +5 Hit rating, +20 Attack power
39: +9 Stamina, +7 Hit rating, +27 Attack power
49: +11 Stamina, +9 Hit rating, +33 Attack power
Stained Shadowcraft Tunic
19: +10 Stamina, +6 Hit rating, +13 Attack power
29: +14 Stamina, +9 Hit rating, +19 Attack power
39: +19 Stamina, +13 Hit rating, +26 Attack power
49: +24 Stamina, +16 Hit rating, +32 Attack power
So, my question is... does the bonus experience count when in battlegrounds?
Overall this is the best shoulder for all but 2 classes. (Warrior and DK). The hit provided is amazing as very little hit exists on gear from 1-58. Also has 3 universal stats on it making it pretty nice. I would recommend getting this shoulder and chest as well as the cloth shoulders and chest and you will be good for heirlooms for all classes.
Can someone tell me why this is the pve one and the other is pvp. Apart from the obvious resil on the other one, from what i know about stats (not all that much, basics really) the pvp ones are better.
For a low level char which you level through pvp (10-29), these shoulders have very similar stats to
The Stormshroud Shoulders just falls a few points of agility behind at most levels.
Level 19 -
: 6 agi, 6 stam.
: 7 agi, 4 stam, 4 hit (2.02%).
Level 29 -
: 9 agi, 9 stam.
: 10 agi, 6 stam, 5 hit (1.32%).
Basically, if you have honor points lying around but no justice point i think the Stormshroud shoulders are an OK substitute.
They arent better, but they work. Personally i'd prefer the Shadowcraft Spaulders for the looks :)
Will These shoulders turn into Mail at level 40?
turn into MAIL at Level 40 for your hunter :( but then again, these can be sent to your druid or rogue your leveling :)

As of 5.2, the Level 80 Heirloom weapons and armor can be upgraded to scale up to level 85
Cost is the original item and either Darkmoon Faire Prize Tickets, JP (for heirlooms purchasable with JP) or Honor (for PvP itemized heirlooms purchased with honor)
1-H Weapons: 2175 Honor/JP or 110 Darkmoon Faire Tickets
2-H Weapons: 3500 Honor/JP or 130 Darkmoon Faire tickets
Armor: 2175 Honor/JP or 110 Darkmoon Faire tickets
Trinkets: 2725 Honor/JP or 130 Darkmoon Faire Tickets
I didn't quite manage to scrape in the last few heroics to get the JP before the servers shut down for the 6.0.2 patch changes, which means the best way to get them is to do Argent Tournament dailies for Champion's Seals. At 13 per day, that's five days for enough seals to purchase them. At level 90, it shouldn't take too long to do the dailies; you just aren't benefitting in any other way (unless you are not exalted with all associated factions).
With the new heirloom upgrade system introduced in patch 6.1 this item has been replaced by
