A nice upgrade from Band of the Abyssal Lord, especially considering you need a whole lot more Defense Rating to reach 540 Defense to become crit-immune at level 80 against level 83 bosses.

It's still generally poor itemization. Crit and dodge are much better choices. Defense is weighted because of its ability to give parry and block, in addition to dodge. The block component also does not suffer diminishing returns, so the more of it a druid stacks the more of the character's itemization budget is being wasted.

Agility is an even better choice for druids. Agility is buffed by percentage stat increases (a couple of talents and blessing of kings), so it gives almost the same amount of dodge as dodge rating, but it also gives crit and armor. At a measly 2 armor per agility you might consider it insignificant, but it can really add up. If you take str/def/dodge rings, necklace, and cloak, you could be missing out on 200-300 agility, which could easily be a difference of 800 armor.

About the ring: The Dragonflight Great-Ring is a nice ring, but there's very little reason to run the regular Oculus anymore. Instead of hoping for a drop from the last boss of the Oculus, you should get Solid Platinum Band from a Gundrak quest. If you still need another ring, wait until you can do heroics and get the Clutch of Fortification or the Staunch Signet from an Oculus quest (only requires killing the first boss).
