I'm alliance, and I really wanted this wand. But, the path is slightly confusing, so I'm going to try to break this down for anyone out there like me, who is easily confused. :) First, you have to do Uldaman. To my knowledge, you don't need to obtain any quests in there, if you don't want to.

I hired a lvl 70 to run me through the instance at lvl 45, because it's not that popular an instance, at least on my server. What I overlooked, is that to get through the door, you need at least three people. Fortunately, I had a friend with a lvl 70 who came, and got through no problem. So, when you do the instance, bring at least two more. But, parties with your own level are much more fun. Regardless in the last room, you talk to the floating thing. Finish that, then click on the big pile of discs, make sure that whole strand is finished, then go to Ironforge.

You talk to the people in the explorers league, and they will send you to the bank. Afterwards, go back to the explorer's league, and talk to High Explorer Magellas. He will start Portents of Uldum. You complete at Historian Karnik right there. Karnik starts Seeing What Happens, ending at Uldum Pedestal at southern most point of Tanaris (25,89). Talk to the floating thing, then click on the pedestal. That starts Return to Ironforge. Return to Karnick, completing Return to Ironforge, accept A Future Task and complete at High Explorer Magellus and you have your wand.

Uldaman (Badlands), Ironforge (Explorer's League), Ironforge (Bank), Ironforge (Explorer's League), Uldum (Tanaris), Ironforge (Explorer's League) and you're finished. Complicated, time consuming, but very worth it.

This is a great item and an easy quest there are a ton of 50 elites around the platform at the gates but you can easily sneak around. The quest only gets confusing after your told to find the history of the keeper, just click on his figure to talk to him and run through what he has to say, then click again finish the quest and back to ironforge, easy.
