It'd be really cool if this finally got into the game as a mount, as it's the last Nether Drake mount in the files we've never had access to. It's the same generic Nether Drake mount the player gets when doing Netherwing dailies in Shadowmoon Valley when you get turned into a Fel Orc. It's unique from the others in that it sports the most bioluminesence of any of the others, at least until players got the Grotto Netherwing Drake.

There is *one* other Nether Drake we don't have, but afaik it's never been in game files accessible to players or dataminers and only appeared in the flying mount TBC trailer with Barley McFrothbeard and on the back of the box art for TBC. I'm referring to the dark, fully transparent one -- most reminiscent of how they appeared in WC3. It can be a little tricky to find a "high" quality video of the trailer, but this was the best I could find: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7dNhrbtVP4 . Some old players may be able to recognize this trailer -- a time back when Blizzard was quite different. There's another "Gnomeregan Gnews Gnetwork" video if anybody reading this is curious, but that's another topic.

EDIT: I just remembered one other Nether Drake we've never had access to, although unlike the aforementioned fully transparent one this one actually does exist in the game, albeit as a boss and not as a mount. Vazruden the Herald in Hellfire Ramparts, in phase two of the fight, dies and his Nether Drake mount, Nazan 纳杉, is left to fight the players. Nazan is the final, and arguably the most unique, Nether Drake that players don't have as a mount. Unlike all others, it is very dull in coloration outside of the crystal spikes and the underbelly, but even the underbelly is dim. It also sports a unique coloration of the gladiator mount armor.

Got this from fishing in Voidstorm during beta, a treasure chest spawned (that can spawn on other zones too) and had this inside. I'm thinking it might be tied to fishing in voidstorm because of its flavor text.

For those wondering..... "There is no open water in Voidstorm. Oceanic Vortex bubbles are the only place to fish in the Voidstorm, and these are difficult to find."

Just got the Egg for this last night on my 3rd Oceanic Vortex.

- I was only Midnight Fishing Skill 7
- The item itself came from a chest that spawned as I was Fishing and not the Fishing bobber loot table itself
- im not sure yet if time plays a factor but It was at 10:37 pm server time (est)
- The Egg takes 7 days to hatch
- no special fishing pole or gear
- no lure

There is a valley in Voidstorm (not Slayers Rise) around

/way 25.9 63.1 Hyper-Compressed Ocean Target

Quite a few H-Cot's spawn continuously in this valley.

I just fished up the Nether-Warped Egg after 8-10 hours of farming. Specifically in the Voidstorm (/way #2405 30.68 59.01, I've noticed plenty of Oceanic Vortexes in this area). Most guides i've seen said that the mount spawns in the treasure chest, but i fished up the egg itself. I have my fishing skill at 300.

I just recieved my Nether-Warped Egg directly from a Oceanic Vortex at /way 23, 66!
I've done maybe about 3,000 casts total, but I've been 50/50 between Voidstorm and Silvermoon. After REVOSTER got it from a vortex I just went hard in Voidstorm!

You can fish up 虚空扭曲之蛋 from Oceanic Vortexes scattered around Voidstorm.

You can also fish anywhere in the new Midnight zones — there is a chance for a 耐心宝藏 to spawn near you, which can contain the egg.

The egg hatches after 7 days.

Fishing skill above 220 significantly reduces the amount of grey items you get. At 300, you won’t receive any grey items at all from pools. However, Oceanic Vortexes still seem to drop trash even at 300 — not sure if this is intended or a bug.

EDIT: I have been getting some 耐心宝藏 from Oceanic Vortexes too but only after I got 300 fishing skill, I'm not sure if it can happen below too. Highly recommend fishing Oceanic Vortexes since you double your chances.

Of all the mounts in the game that are completely imaginary and a figment of everyone's imagination, this is the most imaginary and figmentiest of all. For Blizzard has finally warped the minds of Alliance and Horde alike into chasing ghosts of the void.

I am nearly 5,000 casts and almost 10 hours in; have been grinding this fabulous fairy tale since day 2 of early access. I have completed 25% of my neighborhood endeavor fishing this valley alone.

Now, my back is killing me, my contacts are toast, and I haven't shaven in a week.

My business is failing, my customers think I'm dead, and I'm afraid my children and dogs may no longer recognize the sound of my voice.

I hear tell of Champions laying eyes upon this fabled egg and I feel so alone.

The darkness is closing in, and I feel weak.

But I will press onwards. Perhaps another Hot Pocket and some Doritos will sustain me as I slowly fade into the nether.

Sometimes there is an issue that u can't click the Oceanic-Vortex.

I found a solution. Everytime i have the problem, i mount up on my Expedition Yak, open the Vendor, wait 3 sec and then i can click the orb.
Works everytime. Also on my mates.

Egg fished from Vortex which randomly dropped from pool in Eversong Woods.
Fishing skill 42, no lure, nothing else, legion legendary rod :)

I am 18h into the grind (15h in Voidstorm, 3h leveling Fishing), i got 6 Chests so far and fished up 4 of the Rare Weapon skins but still no mount in sight

When a Patient Treasure Chest spawns, it will play:

A sound effect
A warning animation
And show a picture of Reno Jackson saying "We're gonna be rich!" for extra luck factor :)

The Egg dropped for me open water fishing at Slayer's rise in Voidstorm (/way 50 30) .
NOT in a Patient Treasure Chest
NOT fished in an Oceanic vortex pool

Where does the Egg drop:

* From a Patient Treasure Chest - Random Chest spawn from fishing in any Midnight Zone
* From fishing in VoidStorm (doesn't matter if its the orb "Oceanic vortex pool", Instead go farm in Slayer's rise in VoidStorm.
Also people were able to level their fishing at Slayer's Rise so you can learn Midnight Fishing and start a 1 Skill, while regular Ocean Vortex Pools in Voidstorm did not provide Fishing Skill.

(Ideal Farm: VoidStorm Slayer's open water fishing where you have a chance to directly attempt farming the Egg from the water there. as well as farm Patient Treasure Chest (Also consider Blood Hunter Lures+ Amani Ward, And Midnight Angler's Grand Line helps too. )

Additonal Boosts:

For Patient Treasure Chests:
They seem to spawn from a random successful fishing casts. I noticed something interesting: I received a Patient Treasure Chest by walking over the crabs that scuttles around. Additionally, when using Amani Angler's Ward blocking the Bloodhunters, I noticed if you fish up more than one Bloodhunter in a single cast, the ward blocks the extra quantities and counts additional successful casts. So because Bloodhunters effectively count extras if more than 1 are fished in a single cast, To maximize Patient Treasure Chest procs I used Blood Hunter Lures+ Amani Ward.
For gear I used max-tier blue rod "Sin'dorei Angler's" and even bought the Midnight Angler's Grand Line from the AH to double since that doubles the amount Patient Treasure Chest spawn.

Other fishing items were Nat's Fishing Hat, and Tuskarr Spear.
For consumables I used Kalu'ak Figurine t3, Sanguithorn Tea, and Haranir Phial of Perception.

I also used Angleur Addon on curseforge for fishing + consumables/macros in 1 keybind. The addon also also have Patient treasure alerts so you dont miss any.

Fishing in Voidstorm at the Oceanic Vortex — 617 casts so far and the loot has been absolutely incredible: no chests, no mogs, just a thrilling collection of fish and gray junk. Riveting gameplay, truly.

My personal favourite catch so far is a gray item called “A Whole Lot of Nothing.” Honestly, I have to admire the honesty — it really captures the entire experience perfectly.

EDIT: 2,399 casts and 8 chests later, and it’s still “A Whole Lot of Nothing.” Absolutely thrilled. Truly living the dream. Also swapped to fishing in Slayer's Rise - because clearly the problem was the location.

LAST EDIT: Finally fished out my Nether-Warped Egg directly from red water at Slayer's Rise, no chest, max fishing skill (don't think it matters), basic fishing equipment, with Amani Angler's Ward fending off the Blood Hunters. All after 3188 casts. Screenshot for proof.

Just got it from a box that droped for me in Silvermoon near the fishing trainer.

I believe the requirement of voidstorm fishing is talking about the level of fishing we need for it to drop.

Notice how zones appear in fishing profession when we level it up.
So you don't have to go and look for the special void thing to fish in just level up your fishing.

Also having a fishing pole with high perception helps. It droped for me while i was using the new blue fishing pole.

Ughh I've spent around 20 hours on fishing, I get like 40 of these trash treasure chests, I didnt get anything special from them, just few of these useless pets that cant even battle or motes from herbalism.... Damn blizzard and their low drop chance %. I'm pissing on this mount, waste of time.

Here is my little story,

Collected a few "anglers Anomilies along my way to up my fishing to about 248 + 典雅工匠的钓鱼帽 , I rezzed my 冒泡的小蜥蜴 cuz like you never know with Blizz, and i set my Anomilies out, i think the fourth one dropped a treasure at my side and I got the egg, I also had a green farstrider rod ilevel 206 enchanted with perception,

Just wanted to add some additional data. I received the egg a little while ago.
The character was level 80 (I had 2 accounts fishing at the same time)
I did not have 300 fishing (269)
It was not out of a Treasure Chest.

My egg hatched today automatically after the 7 day period and the mount was in my bags to learn.

The treasure chest spawned for me when I was fishing at the Spinefrill rare spawn in Zul'Aman. I was around 105 fishing when the chest spawned, and it happened to contain the egg. Didn't do anything special and was just camping a rare while leveling fishing for the inevitable grind.

I've uploaded a screenshot of the mount to Wowhead. Awaiting approval

Dropped for me in a chest (open water) after 7/8 hours of fishing, with a full raid group.
Seen a lot of drops before mine!

First 5 hours the farm was boring, so i decided to put my second account into it.
Started casting with both, dropped on my second account when it had 296 fishing level.

So max fishing level is not required, seems...

I can post the pic of the egg if required, rarity didnt took the moment it dropped.

8 days of grinding 15-17 hours each day. I still do not have it. My body and spirit are broken.

If you have not attempted this yet, don't. Save yourself.

Or who knows, fish it in 10 minutes with not even max fishing skill and watch me die inside in our fishing raid.

Of all the most ridiculous RNG grinds, this one certainly takes the cake for a recolour of a TBC netherdrake. To fish up items like "a whole lot of nothing" is an insult to your playerbase.

Please.. free me from this grind. A new day of fishing commences when I wake up.

UPDATE: just completed the 9th Day at 17000+ casts and 20 hours straight. I even bought the grand line for double chest spawns. Why have the RNG Gods forsaken me?

So I started farming this, paying 100% attention to it. After 5 hours, I didn't get it.
So I took a break. When I came back I decided I'd farm it while watching something on the side.
I load up a long lets play video on youtube, get a large glass of water, and some healthy snacks to eat. I get in position & begin farming at Voidscar arena.
15 minutes later I get it.

Lesson learned.

Get ready for a long grind, and the universe will say "Nah, you don't need all of that, just take it..."

The egg dropped for me from the pools surrounding Voidscar Arena. Started at 0 Midnight Fishing skill and got the egg at 215, but I'm not sure if skill level matters much. Good luck!

Got the egg 2 days ago in a chest while fishing in Zul Aman in open water near rares, Gore guppy had high selling price (~210g) so it was a descent way to make gold while waiting for rares.
300 fishing, tea and perception pot.

Not sure if this is known but if u /sit or /lay and start fishing from this position the blood hunter spirits don't spawn.
At least that is the case now as I am writing this comment.

So.. I normally don't comment; just made an account. I've been looking through the comments for both the egg and this and it seems people have been really trying to get it. I just picked up fishing from Silvermoon and went to my first fishing hole and pulled a chest with this in it. I think maybe I used all my luck up this expansion.

Was in eversong, fishing in a bloom pool? Pulled a patient chest and the egg was in it.

If you want to reach 300 Fishing quickly and have around 20k gold, just buy 烁光海妖. It has a chance to contain 垂钓者的深水潜游 . I leveled from 200 to 300 in under 5 minutes. Current price: about 18g. 🙂

This is obtained after a 7 day hatch from 虚空扭曲之蛋. For me, it took 4 days and 10,500 casts but the egg finally dropped.

- I fished it up directly from the blood pools in slayers rise, not in a chest and not in a vortex.
- I was using 辛多雷垂钓者的钓竿 with no enchants and no buffs.
- 300+18 total fishing skill.
- I was using /sit to avoid Blood Hunter spawns.

- For others, it can be looted either from 耐心宝藏 anywhere in Midnight from fishing. It can also be fished up directly from 海洋漩涡 in Voidstorm OR blood pools in Voidstorm (I and many others use Slayers Rise /way 50 30).
- You can also use 至暗之夜垂钓者的大型丝线 which means when a chest does spawn, you instead get two chests. IMO for 500k gold on my server, it was not worth it.

Fishing levels and buffs as far as I saw made no difference. People with 80 fishing skill were fishing it within 20 minutes and some people took 5+ days with full buffs (shoutout Müchkuah in my fishing raid group, I feel for you brother). It is just all luck.

If you commit to the farm, I wish you all the best. But my lord is it a soul destroying one.

i've been farming the egg for almost 2 weeks, i swear that i opened more than 100 chests (no lie) i already got all weapon mogs you can imagine at least 5x each, thousands of that same annoying pet, fishing itens and 0 egg, i'm losing all my hope

Dropped open water at Slayer's Rise on an alt, after buying the Grand Line on my main, and maxing fishing on 5 other alts.

Things I learned:
Leveling each alt from 1-300 at red water granted 3 chests, for each alt. That is when I would switch to the next alt.
Over 13,200 casts, using both red water and the oceanic vortex spawns from item.
Looted 9 mini pets, 8 weapon cosmetics, and tons of fish to sell.
Fishing on my main after each reset got me 4 chests each day within 3 hours, with Grand Line, totaled 8 chests. First 3 days of doing this, I never got another chest on this character after those four, experimented for another 5 hrs each day, no new chests after the 4. That is when I decided to try my alts.
On my 6th alt, egg dropped around fishing skill 216 while leveling it. No fancy rod, buffs, nothing but green midnight rod. My main had all the buffs and most expensive rod and everything else, no egg. So it is completely random.

Best advice is to not give up. Keep fishing, no matter how defeated you feel. I was close to quitting every day for the last 6 days, but since it was preseason, I decided to keep going. It will eventually drop for yall. Good luck and keep at it.

The Egg Hatched! Dragonriding effects, the Purple aura the drake has and the wings effect, don't show when dragonriding... But!, the TBC original ones work just fine... Hey, Bliz, if you do only recolours, at least keep the other effects normally...

It seems to be completely random. I got the egg from a patient chest while fishing in Zul'aman. I was around level 120 in fishing, no special sure, no fish thrown back in for perception and only a green fishing rod. Seems to be complete luck.

Fished my egg up in Slayer's Rise in 649 casts.
In total got 3 skill books, 4 transmog items, and 3 Bubbly Snaplings from 6 sets of chests with Grand Angler's Line.
Did 2k casts into void orbs prior and got nothing but junk and one set of chests.
YMMV but Slayer's Rise paid off well for me.
Let the week wait commence.

After 10k+ casts, I caught the egg directly from the open "water" at Voidscar Arena, which seems to be the most reliable method. However, outside of the Patient Treasures, I have also seen documented drops for others from Viscous Void Pools in other regions and of course from the Oceanic Vortexes throughout Voidstorm.

Fished up the egg in Zul'Aman from a Viscous Void pool with my trusty 精致的卡鲁亚克鱼竿 at fishing 162 including buffs and the 美味食尸鱼 perception buff. So you don't have to be in the Voidstorm to fish this up but you do need a void pool :)

I can't get this to work with my mount macro.
Journal shows the name as Nether-Warped Drake, wowhead shows Nether-Swept Drake, and when I summon the mount the spell says Nether Drake yet none of them work when trying /Use Mount-Name

Adding my lil tidbit.

Was fishing for lil over an hour, because my Pepe bobber finally reverted to the OG bobber.

Fishing in Voidstorm, north-west of Voidscar Arena at 50.44, 27.09.

Fishing level at 179 when a treasure chest spawn for me.

I didnt even notice it till a couple casts later, and in it was 1 cosmetic and the egg.

So just confirming that you dont need to be maxed fishing.

I got mine today after approx 3500-4000 casts in voidstorm from open water fishing (not in a chest). I had highest quality rod with the grand line and also had tier 4 fishing hat. For consumes I used Argentleaf tea
