Just wanted to say, I flew around Northrend for awhile without seeing anything, then I went to Grizzly Hills and I landed and clicked the Harvesting Hatchet and the Coldwind Lumber showed up. Not sure if it is just the only place or because I clicked the hatchet. Either way, hope this helps!

I flew around for like 10minutes without seeing any lumber. Tried the Grizzly hills, clicking the axe multiple times, nothing showed up. Relogged in the middle of howling fjord and as soon as I logged back in the lumber was all over the place. I'm guessing it has some phasing issue (maybe when you use the dalaran ring?)

farmable in druid flying form so you dont need to remount every time, took me less than 2 hours for the 465 lumber that are needed for every decor once. tried grizzly hills, zul drak and howling fjord as others suggested but imo crystalsong forest is more wood/hour.

These wood numbers are calculated for crafting decorations from all professions in Early Access Housing. With the launch of the new Midnight expansion, these numbers will likely change.

Ironwood Lumber (Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms): you need 506 pieces
Olemba Lumber (Outland Zones): you need 512 pieces
Coldwind Lumber (Northrend Zones): you need 465 pieces
Ashwood Lumber (Cataclysm Zones): you need 451 pieces
Bamboo Lumber (Mists of Pandaria Zones): you need 526 pieces
Shadowmoon Lumber (Draenor Zones): you need 451 pieces
Fel-Touched Lumber (Broken Isle Zones and Argus): you need 594 pieces
Darkpine Lumber (Battle for Azeroth Zones): you need 476 pieces
Arden Lumber (Shadowlands Zones): you need 532 pieces
Dragonpine Lumber (Dragonflight Zones): you need 654 pieces

The quickest farming place I found is straight below (the old) Dalaran.
You can find harvestable trees both in the golden AND in the purple/corrupted areas.
I sometimes got x2 or x3 pieces at a time, but it's mostly x1. Good luck!

Every place I go to farm the lumber it's just there, no need to click anything, seems a little misleading with ppl saying "I clicked the hatchet and..."

This is a fun little throwback to the Dragonblight quest 抢木材, which required you to gather 冷风木材.

Compared a few different spots for this Lumber:

Grizzly Hills: 230 lumber/hour
Scholozar Basin: 270 lumber/hour
Crystalsong Forest: 280 lumber/hour

This is on a druid fully focused on gathering lumber with no distractions. I don't like any of these zones. Hills and Basin are annoying to navigate, and Hills in particular have low density of Lumber nodes. Crystalsong has the highest yield but I find its colors very annoying.

On the "Reagent for" tab. wowhead is telling if you can craft it in the completion area, and not telling you if you own it (which would be far more useful.

Farming this lumber for the first time, and after flying for a couple of minutes, no lumber was showing on my map. I went to my bank and got the "harvesting Hatchet" item in my bags. As soon as I was back, I could see the lumber spots. I was only able to see them after I placed the hatched once again in my inventory.

Tested a few spots to farm this. Crystalsong forest had too much competition, but it is otherwise a great spot. Coldarra (west in borean tundra) aswell as Grizzly Hills have their nodes too spread out and i experienced more searching than chopping. The place i farmed at with best results and no competition is The Isle of Spears (Kamagua, western island in Howling Fjord)

I had good experience in Coldarra (winter island off the west coast of Borean Tundra). You don't have to think about navagation, where to go, where you've been. You can just mindlessly fly the circle around the island. By the time you go all the way around, the nodes have re-spawned.
