Also, you can almost always find Briarthorn growing near tree bases.
In the barrens northwest of the Crossroads has Peacebloom, Earthroot, Mageroyal, and way more Silverleaf than you will ever need. Oh yeah, Briarthorn is scarcely found northeast of the crossroads too.
U can pick this once u get the 70 in Herblore Skill.
Requires Herbalism 70
This is a perfect item to farm for low levels, if you need money.
They sell for 4-5g/stack on my server and you can get them pretty fast if you're level 19-20, in The Barrens.
If you are a higher level farming these for an alt, running through
is the fastest way to get it. I just farmed 40+ Briarthorn in three instance resets, at 70 you can run by most of the mobs.
This plant makes low lvl herbalists rich on my server (Drak'thul) 20-25 gold per stack! Best place to farm is in southern Silverpine..
These are going for 130g a stack on Thrall(H) and they are selling! Highway robbery, on the one hand. Damned good business on the other. Prices will probably continue to spike as we approach the expansion.
The new best zone (since the Cataclysm patch) to farm Briarthorn is Hillsbrad Foothills. I found loads going tours around the zone.
Found Briarthorn along with some mageroyal south/southeast of Silverpine Forest (didnt see any in The Battlefront thou) .
Most of the suggestions here are kind of geared towards Horde Zone's post-Shattering. For Alliance I believe Wetlands is the best place, it's not as good as Hillsbrad\Silverpine, but is one of the safer zones for Alliance leveling Herbalism as they go.
EDIT: Hillsbrad is worth the risk if you are a higher level (above 40). Just looping around Durnholde I found upwards of 5-10 nodes.
If you are powerlvling alchemy and need these Hillsbrad cannot be beat. You will get your briarthorn, Mageroyal, and Bruiseweed you need for alchemy. And a stack or two of swiftthistle for some swiftness potions. Its win win.
I find a good amount of Briarthorn, Mageroyal and Bruiseweed in Loch Modan now, too (after the shattering).
Have found Wetlands to be pretty good, got Briarthorn (from under trees), mageroyal, kingsblood. Bruiseweed and liferoot (from the edge of the water) from just walking about, but if you do a little circuit to include Ironbeards tomb you will get 2-3 gravemoss at that location (one might be inside the tomb, watch out there is a rare elite down there!) and Raptor ridge where you can pick up 3-5 steelblooms. Even found 2-3 stranglekelp from the lost fleet area. a great hours worth of herbing!
The Stagnant Oasis and Lushwater Oasis in Northern Barrens are great places to farm this. It seems to be the only herb that spawns there!
Hillsbrad Foothills is THE best place to farm Briarthorn.
After 30 minutes of flying around the zone farming herbs i came up with;
Time well spent.
With 5.0.4 the herbalism requirement to farm these seems to have been lowered. I just picked one on live with a skill of 40 (no Shovel). It was the first one I encountered so can't tell the exact lowest at which you can pick them.
Yup. Hillsbrad Foothills is still the best place to find this. All around the edge of the Alterac mountains in the north, loads of Mageroyal there too.
As of 5.0.4, Briarthorn only requires Herbalism (1) to gather. This means you can go straight to it for your leveling needs, without passing by the Silverleaf/Peacebloom stage.
If you're leveling Alchemy and need all the local herbs, frozen herbs in Ruins of Alterac and environs is your target; I scored more briarthorn here much faster than anywhere else. The frozen herbs respawn fast enough so you can just keep making a loop, and gather all the mageroyal, briarthorn and bruiseweed you need.
I'd say Hillsbrad Foothills right around the Ruins of Alterac (like the foothills of that area) is a rather good spot. Within 15-30 minutes while flying around (280 speed, two laps) I got:
and 23 Bruiseweed.
For all of those who posted to farm up Briarthorn in Hillsbrad Foothills, you are correct and are well thanked. I'd like to post my thoughts on this as well to maybe help out others:
1-Make sure you have herb tracking turned on. Don't be like me and go about 20 minutes and never get an herb until you figure it out.
2-Briarthorn is found always and only at the base of a tree. Useful information for planning routes.
3-If you are not a druid, get on your Sky Golem, because everybody has a Sky Golem now, right? And, be cause you do not dismount when picking herbs. Huge time saver.
4-If you are strictly farming up Briarthorn, avoid the frozen herbs. They randomly produce any of the herbs for this zone, so around a 30% for Briarthorn. If you are skilling up or just want any herbs, by all means hit the frozen herbs.
5-Put on some really great music! Soon you will forget about time and wonder how 100 Briarthorn ended up in your bag.
Also, I have not found any item or spell that speeds up herb gathering in this zone....wouldn't that be nice. If you know of something, let us know. Hope this helps some of you out. Peace.
