Actually, this is a utterly useless totem. I was chuffed when it dropped from Hungerfen, until I realised what little it actually does. 12 extra mana? When I have nearly 7000 mana, getting an extra 12 back when water shield goes off is pretty inconsequential. Even when I briefly tried out this totem, I still had to sit and drink after every two or three fights. Now if it doubled or even just increased mana from water shield by +50%, that would be cool. But it doesn't, so only worth selling really.

For enhancement shamans, who do much more melee than casting this is an excellent totem, at level 70 I still want it. I always keep mana shield up and only cast Stormstrike and earthshock (together, whenever Stormstrike is cooled down) and when I heal. With this pattern I can farm lvl 67 and lower mobs without ever stopping to drink or bandage, and I go through at least 1 whole cast of water shield each fight, so this totem would give me 36 mana or more, and I could grind higher lvl mobs longer.

for elemental shamans, I consider this to be somewhat worthless compared to totem of lightning, seeing as each fight you will cast FAR more lightning bolt/chain lightning, and the effect from those is -15 mana cost
however, I would agree that this certainly does have its uses for enhancement leveling

Upcoming changes in Patch 2.3

Totem of the Thunderhead: The additional mana granted to Water Shield by this totem has been increased.

Also Water Shield spell itself is getting some changes.

As relics are in the slot where ranged weps normally are, isn't it possible just to quickly switch out totems just when the new 1 minute timer on WS runs out, even in combat? Then I would say that this totem is a must have if u'r a little shifty on our relics ;)

I'd say it's good for elemental shamans in pve too. That might be because I am a little poor geared, but I allways have water shield on for the mana I get when it pops out. Almost never go oom.

As of the most recent patch (2.3.2) this totem also adds 2 mp/5 in addition to the additional mana restore.

I expect this totem to be rather good at level 70 for a resto shaman, with the new talent changes.

If you have vendored the nagrand totem, this is currently the best obtainable LHW spamming totem.

This is my first totem taken and i have to say its really very good.

I mostly go oom when killing a lot of trash so i get this one and i'm ever oom...i hope.
im level 62 now so i'll wait a level more.

This should be a sought after item by any level resto Shaman. With the mana regeneration "adjustments" coming in Ulduar , this will definitely be a useful tool in the shaman's arsenal for certain situations.

Patch 4.0.1 Shamans can not role need on this :S only greed, and dissenchant (if theres an enchanter).
been trying to get this for days now, but everytime it dropped it got won by someone who dissenchanted.. sigh.
hope they fix this soon
