Summons a small barrel near enemies occasionally called a Backfill Barrel. Very easy to one shot with an instant cast Moonfire to explode and deal damage to enemies around the barrel, but easy to lose sight of it spawning or targeting it in the first place, so I'd recommend a macro to target it and then target last target when it does spawn.

Tested as Holy Pally. The proc rate seems really low, but the damage is okay I guess. Might be a neat trick on trash. The barrel can be triggered by a Consecration cast (but not the tics).

The proc rate seems to be either you can get 2 procs back to back on the same boss or only see 1 throughout an entire dungeon run.

What is the drop rate on this? Been farming it for the Orienting Ourselves quest and it hasn't dropped after 50 runs on a balance druid.

Check the loot drop table for which specs of each class that this trink will drop for. I needed it for the quest and tried several times as enhancement with no drop. Changed my loot specialization to Elemental and it dropped first try.

This one took me about 35 runs on various chars. I've decided to only run for these trinkets on toons that aren't max level, and doing this quest line has given me three fresh 80s..../sigh

During a dungeon (sign of the warrior) week, the last boss of dungeons will drop additional loot making it very likely you will get this trinket on one of your first few runs if you need it for the Mechsuit mount. I looted this trinket both on a MW monk and had a Dev evoker (second account on follow) in a follower dungeon.

How can someone that has no intellect classes get this trinket? Just hope that someone is willing to trade it? I play a rogue/DH/Hunter. So I just have to hope that someone will trade it to me so I can complete the quest? Sounds like bad design to me.

took me 3 hours and 15 minutes, about 15 mins per run have to kill all the boss to the final, i have proc pally set loot as holy.

A macro for easy targeting:

#showtooltip Shadow Word: Pain
/cleartarget
/targetexact Backfill Barrel
/cast Shadow Word: Pain
/targetlasttarget

It will instantly kill the barrel if it exists. If not, SWP will work as usual. After killing the barrel your previous target will be targeted again.

this trinket is annoying, why can't cleave/AE dmg near the boss also trigger the barrel?
why can't it have a short timer?
why do we have to specifically target it?

Some findings:

The barrel is NOT affected by a frost mage's 冰枪术 split or by any other AoE/cleave spell such as Blizzard, Ice Nova, Frozen Orb, and the likes.
You need to actively target the barrel - be it manually or via a macro - to make it blow up.
A barrel lasts for 15-20 sec. unless targeted.
While testing at the target dummy, I have seen up to 3 own barrels next to the dummy at the same time, but then again, it can take way more than a minute for any to proc.
Any direct damage will make a barrel go BOOM. Even a 圆弹步枪 autoshot would do. ;)

I tested various macros and I am quite happy with (kudos to Sonsofmany):

It behaves just like the standard 冰枪术 clicky icon from the spell book. On top of it, it:

targets the next enemy in case your current one should just have died. No need to TAB or click with your mouse,
targets a barrel instead, if one should have spawned,
kills the barrel right away and (of course) cleaves the main target,
after the barrel, automatically targets your main target again, and
ignores that command and spams Ice Lances at your target, if no barrels are present,

Feel free to replace "Ice Lance" with any spell from your class. ;)
