Having one or two guys in your raid wielding this weapon really improves your overall raid damage. So worth the mats!
Having mixed feelings about this weapon. It is a raid weapon solely (although useful on AV generals and such) which makes it quite expensive for the use you're going to get out of it. Has about a 2 PPM rate, meaning it will be up on target avg 17% of the time. Flurry specc'd warrior will probably see 20% of the time. Damage output is really low however. I've dropped from top 5 DPS meters (fury warrior) to right around 20 using this.
And don't even bother with this in 20 mans. Stuff dies too quick to be of any use. Might get one proc every few mobs.
I'm an Off-tank prot warrior for my guild. I have found in Naxx that there are some encounters where I'm usually for the most part dead weight. I got this crafted and now use it on Maexna, Thaddius, Hiegan, and probably Loatheb when we get there.
The weapon is incredible, it procs all the time. On the Thaddius fight it multiplicatively augments the damage buff so its 15% applied to the total damage already bumped 190%, which turns out to be about 2000dmg on just the Ignites ticking on him in addition to all the other incoming spell damage. The weapon is worth every copper you'd spend on the mats, and it allows an otherwise useless prot warrior to add more than just thunderclap and demo to a one tank fight!
Highly recommend for any guild pushing Naxx.
For those struggling to get the last couple percent on Bosses such as Patchwerk and Loatheb these could do it for you. Though this all depends on your raid's build, how many caster classes you are taking.
A very good axe to help overall raid damage per second. The character wielding this crafted weapon will still produce moderate amount of dps while helping the rest of the raid when the axe procs.
When the axe procs, the target mob will display a debuff and thus will increase raid dps allowing casters to produce more spell damage.
Very good for Shamans, could possibly have its place in a raid to increase ranged DPS, although I wouldn't personally think about getting one unless I was using it for a raid because A)The mats are VERY expensive and B)It is not nearly as usefull when you are alone.
I got one of these crafted for me, and as a palladin ive found it extremely usefull. I have found that with the new talents and a holy build although this is primarily used by me in BWL and MC this weapon proc makes me absolutely deadly i have had some massive burst dps come from this beauty.
This should only be crafted for people who are attending the majority of raids or who can get the mats from the guild. If you just wanta dps weapon you better off getting 'the unstopable force'
This axe has a Burning Crusade replacement
An excellent raiding tool even for 25-man, I imagine.
Does the proc on this still work on raid bosses in Burning Crusade?
does this have full affect on proc even at 70?
and why does it say
Apply Aura: Mod Dmg % Taken (All) <-----sholdnt that be(spell)
after all the thing says spell dmg not all dmg
This may have renewed life on
Whichever protection warrior is not currently tanking can equip this and whack away, increasing your caster dps on the fight where it's needed most. Swap as needed.
Haven't tried this out in a raid setting yet, but should in the coming week.
Patch 2.4.2: Nightfall now has a chance to fail for targets above level 60.
No idea how big the chance is but i think it will nerf the use of this weapon completely. Sad thing really ..
A test on the PTR
has shown that this weapon has <0.1% proc rate at lvl 70.
Why do they have to heavily nerf all the awesome prebc stuff?...This way nobody will ever bother to do the old school raids even if some of them (as naxx) > bc raids .
Once again blizz ruins all the fun , crushing blows for the old-timers .
Too bad they killed this item in patch 2.4.2... especially with Titan's Grip out now. Would have been disgusting to have one warrior dual wielding these and refreshing the debuff twice as much.
Used to be a great utility weapon for any pre-BC raid. If a guild was just a little too low on DPS, they could have their OT slap one of these on and the DPS would skyrocket.
also got hit with the huge nerf bat (used to have a 700 armor reduction stacking 3 times, proc. But it got reduced to only 100 armor reduction stacking 3 times, proc.)
Actually, I know a guild where all the members have not bought any expacs, but they have no restrictions on WoTLK talents or gear. A 60 fury warrior could get Titan's grip to enable ezmode in AQ40 or whatever it is they raid, seeing as this weapon isn't unique equipped.
Or they could dual wield this and bone reaver :o
Model of weapon has now changed. I will try and submit a updated version of it. It's now all red, instead of metal for the blades.
This is a really nice weapon for a Shaman i guess, because you just melee till it procs, then do a shock/other magic!
With Dark iron Ore now being only farmed from BRD or MC, making old time items like this beauty much harder to craft, it wouldn't go without reason that when patch 4.3 hits, items that require Dark Iron are going to go up in cost too, which includes this item.
So, if you plan on making anything with Dark Iron (like I am trying to with this), plan ahead and buy what you can from the AH cheap. If my guess is like anyone else, this is going to be one of the "hot ticket items" for 2h axes, or 2h's in general, transmog.
Good luck on getting yours soon.
This weapons is a great transmog Axe with Tier2
I was wondering can anyone check how this effects deathknight extra abilities? thinking of using one of these on a Unholy DK if the proc will up the 'disease' spell damage.
Just put this in the hands of my minions using the glyph. Looks great, feels great. You can cut it, swim with it, it's real. Thanks bosley!
Just checked it out for my Transmog... Unfortunately, the mats were not all available and the only axe on AH cost 35,000 gold (seriously?). Very cool looking and nostalgic, but not worth 35k...
, quietly crept in and changed us all.
I use this for transmog on my death knight. My guildies laugh at me when I use it for frost...
I recently dropped enchanting and I picked up blacksmithing and mining. I spent about 125g total to level them both up to 300 in about 2 days. I then spent 40g to pick up 20 cheap
. I bought this recipe and bought some dark iron ore from AH. I also had a guildie of mine transmute the arcanite. The other mats were already in my inventory from mining and molten core legendary runs. I made this and sold it immediately for 650g. Not the best way to make money, but it paid for my professions and gave me a little bit of extra gold, for only an extra 45 minutes or so.
Sorry for the long comment, but I wanted to share my experiences to attempt to help people out with the heavy cost of leveling blacksmithing (at least, it's costly on my server).
Use this with any Firelands Tier set and it'll fit in nicely. :3
