Can buy 246 gear from
/way 60.60 51.01 Elder Rafiq
WHY is this not in the Currency tab? More things to clutter my bags.
sheesh! min 160-300 relics to even get one piece.. welp..
Yay, memories of Hyjal!, too much work for gear that is %0.03dps better than what I am already wearing...
When buying items with this "currency", they'll be iLvl 246
and have the
appearance version of the Broker sets
(clicking on individual
items in the
tab and selecting "View in 3D" will show the
version, which comes from the
iLvl 226 tokens for Anima
and as random BoE drops - the latter can drop at higher itemLevels, which will turn them rare or even epic, but still with the green appearance, further complicating the matter)
Dressing Room links:
Jesus christ these are earned incredibly slowly when you realize how expensive the pieces are to buy.
I've done everything in ZM every day since launch and I have 30 of these. Each piece of gear is 160-300. Is this a joke? It's going to take like a year to get a full set lmao.
Since the item will be irrelevant by the time you gather enough of this currency, the whole thing is pointless. It's like the exalted epic items. By the time you get exa, that epic is worthless. Never understood the logic behind this.
2070 for a full set:
Helm, Chest, Legs cost 300 Sandworn Relics each.
Shoulders, Gloves, Boots cost 230 SSandworn Relics each.
Cloak, Bracers, Belt cost 160 Sandworn Relics.
So... We have to farm 400+ rares, or 200+ chests for a set of alt catchup gear.
Seems like they'll need to buff the drop rates on the relics.
I saw a Tweet reply to Blizzard about the INSANE drop rate on these. They said "Meanwhile WQs give 242 every day right now at research 3 (and likely more with higher research)"
MY question is, WHAT research? What do I need to research to get a higher daily drop rate for these? OR did they iLVL 242 from WQs, but still what research?
As useless as this is, they could have at least made it a currency, rather than taking up YET ANOTHER bag slot
The amount required for a single item is obscene, and almost all people will need it only for transmog because the easiest mythic 5mans can give way better gear.
This should either need very little grind to get or the transmog to be better exceptional but I don't think it is.
If these were BOA they would make more sense.
I ended up with full 252 cypher gear before I collected enough relics for 3 pieces. These things are legitimately useless.
Useless, at least add weapons/trinkets 246 or make it bind to account!
Garbage. Literal garbage. DO NOT spend an ounce of effort on this. By the time you've gotten enough to buy a single item, you've likely outleveled it doing normal everyday quests. Trash.
Totally useless, not sure what they were thinking here unless these can be turned into Tier Pieces via whatever that system is?
OH , Edit to say, nice touch making them only stack to 250 for maximum inconvenience. Well played.
Valuable only for transmog.
Anyone trying to farm these is likely going to be kitted out in 252 gear from freebie gear drops before they have enough to buy even one piece of 246.
I use AskMrRobot, and they are indicating that I can get 252 Choral gear from Sandworn Relics. I don't think this is true though. They don't level up, do they?
They could have just made these account bound and it would have made them somewhat useful for alts. SMH Blizz, do you not have anyone in house who actually says 'No, this doesn't actually work.'?
By the time I had 300 (and was surprised that it takes up 2 bag slots instead of 0), the only gear piece below 252 I had, was a pair of pauldrons at 246. The sandworn piece had slightly better secondaries, so I took it, after reading here how useless this not-currency is.
Completely useless and they only stack in blocks of 245, so even MORE bag space. I honestly feel like levelling another alt just to buy these for them
This is a comment for wowhead. You have the items listed incorrectly in the currency for tab. They are not iLvL 226 items. The items you buy with these are iLvL 246. The iLvL 226 items you can buy are sold by
in Haven using
Anyone looking on wowhead for what
are used for, and sees iLvL 226 will think they're useless from the start. Most people, I would think, by now have an excess of
while they'd have to farm from the start
. Which the drop rate is not that great.
If these were BoA they wouldn't actually be useless like they are now
6 weeks into 9.2, several hotfixes, but this item, as well as what we can buy with it, remains junk.
Meanwhile, cypher equipment doesn't include weapons and trinkets, and there seems to be no way to get iLvl 252 weapons and trinkets in the open world.
Would be great if we can exchange these relics for iLvl 252 weapons and trinkets AND iLvl 246 BoA equipment.
Otherwise just remove this from the game altogether. It's taking up the third space in my backpack...
The PTR shows the sandworn gear can be slotted into the Creation Catalyst, and if that carries through into live it would mean that Sandworn Relics should be hung onto, just in case. I plan to park them in the bank until the CC goes live in a few days.
Useful only for making up a new Transmog set.
Cloth - Choral
Leather - Staccato
Mail - Anthemic
Plate - Harmonium
Just vendor the bits for 50g - 80g
I have over 300 of these relics but I can't buy anything? I'm confused.
OK the best item to buy with these is the leg armor as it has the highest resale value when comparing number of relics to gold
According to the
patch notes from April 6
, Sandworn gear will be compatible with the Creation Catalyst (for conversion into tier set gear).
As of April 12, 2022 Sandworn Relics may no longer be useless.
and confirmed in a blue post yesterday at
Can anyone tell me what transmog appearance you get for transforming sandworn relic gear into tier piece? the color of the LFR version or the normal version?
8 weeks into 9.2, cypher equipment still doesn't include weapons and trinkets. Meanwhile, sandworn relic remains trash. The items purchasable with the relics, though able to get converted to tier pieces, are iLv 246 a.k.a. trash.
So WHY doesn't BZ just let us puchase iLv 252 weapons and trinkets with this useless relic already?
And actually, after we maxed out the cypher research level, Cypher of the First Ones also becomes useless, WHY can't we buy iLv 252 weapons and trinkets with those excessive cyphers?
Dumped my load of thousands of these on the Staccato Cuffs hoping maybe it was possible to get these to proc with one of the augmented crystal slots that you can socket the Zereth Mortis powers into.
No dice. (and no prismatic slot procs either)
At least the items ARE disenchantable.
The epics you buy with this can be used to create tier gear at the Creation Catalyst. For some reason daily/world quest rewards cannot.
They tried adding these into the catalyst to make them seem useful but honestly, the cypher gear at a higher ilvl seems like its better than tier bonuses anyway so meh guess my cosmic flux will keep building.
The point of these, now, (besides some dull transmog) is to convert the gear into tier pieces. If you don't raid or do high M+, your options for tier are this and the two 259 pieces that can drop from
. I haven't simmed every spec in the game, but I have a lot of alts, and every single one I've checked, the power increase from even a two-piece tier set is MASSIVE. The power increase going from regular 246 gear to 252 is almost nothing, you're going from like 1500 str to 1505 str. Hell yes you should replace your 252 quest gear with 246 tier. Even if you're a serious raider you should be using these to fill in the gaps in your tier set until you get your drops. You don't have to take my word for it, raidbots.com is your friend.
There's no way to farm them near as I can tell. You can kill rares over and over all day and loot cyphers and anima every time, but these only drop the first kill per day.
Why are these relics not account-bound? I have 5 stacks in my bags, I have never used them and never will. I really hope they would make them account-bound.
I've tried several times to add the cloak that is purchasable from the vendor, to the creation catalyst to complete the LFR sets, and can confirm it does not work on the cloak that costs 160 relics. And these really should be BOA..
If you're continuing to accumulate
s as you tool around Zereth Mortis, you may be wondering "Which piece of armor should I buy with them, to vendor, to get the most gold?" If so, this is the post for you!
Thanks to Berna1 and Kanegasi for pointing out that you can click the menu in the top right of the vendor window and pick "All" and it will show you other armor types, including the overall relics-for-gold champ:
which vendors for 65g 65s 78c, giving just over 41s per relic!
The rest of this post is my original comment, left here for posterity.
The answer is...
! At least when it comes to cloth.
: at ilvl 246, a vendor will give you 66g 37s 97c. Costing 230 Relics, that is a return of 28s 86c per Relic.
: at ilvl 246, a vendor will give you 84g 15s 72c, which is the highest vendor price of any one item. However, at a cost of 300
s, that is a return of 28s 5c per Relic, losing out slightly to
. (Not to mention the fact that to save up 300
s, you need a second bag slot since they only stack to 250.)
If anyone has evidence that the shoulder is not the best bang-for-the-buck for the other gear slots, please say so!
- Not a currency, so it takes up bag slots
- Only stacks to 250, even though some pieces cost 300
- You earn them quite slowly
- Soulbound, so you can't even send them to your alts to help them out
Congrats, they truly created a terrible and almost useless waste of space and time with these. Even casual players will probably only buy one or two pieces at most before all of the available pieces become worthless, because of how damn slowly you earn these.
Here are the
prices for all the pieces you can buy from
- Cloak, Bracers, Belt
- Boots, Gloves, Shoulders
- Chest, Head, Legs
You will need a total of
Relics to buy them all on one character.
All items are BoP and item level 246. You
transform them into tier pieces with the Creation Catalyst. Since they are only 246, they will get the LFR appearances.
These are useful because you can buy them and make them into tier gear with the Creation Catalyst Console, coordinates are 47.45, 88.58... so you can essentially buy tier if ur having bad luck, its low iL but great for filling gaps in set bonuses.
The daily quests listed only occasionally give Sandworn Relics as rewards. The only reliable sources for these are: Patterns within Patterns, Sandworn Chests, the 4 rares and the weekly world boss. If you're farming for relics for a set piece, you'll want to do these every day. The world quests/dailies can give relics, but not always.
The most profitable item, on a gold-per-relic basis, is the Antecedent Drape. So, if you aren't simply destroying these once you no longer need them, buy the back slot and immediately vendor it. (This assumes one is not an enchanter.)
Another currency that is only of use in the very first part of a new expansion.
Once you have no use for armor over ilevel 246, it's utterly useless, and yet keeps dropping from kills.
This and other temporary currencies need a vendor who will exchange them for some permanently useful item, I'd suggest mats for crafting consumables, preferably sellable on the AH.
#MakeTheseBoA - With a new patch on the horizon (9.2.5) and another not far behind (season 4) it would be nice if they changed these to being BoA along with the other QoA alt improvements. Pretty much only alts can benefit from these as actual gear, other than one set of mog for your main. As we all know, by the time you gather enough of these items to buy the set, cypher gear alone is higher ilvl.
gives you the most gold per
If you're sitting at way too many stacks of these, and catalyst converter charges you'll never use, and are a transmog freak like I, then you've found a use for these.
I always like to get all the colors of a given set, and you can use these to buy the 246 items and convert them all into tier set, off-pieces too, for the matching transmog.
I've finally found a way to get a full LFR transmog because I always end up with half finished ones since I can't stand doing LFR and leaving it all to RNG.
OK, so has anyone found anything USEFUL to do with these, other than cash in for the cloak and sell to vendor? Are we hanging on in CASE they become useful? Have 2,000 now... :(
So what to do with these when I have all the gear as transmog now.
I have 2500 of these in my bank, come on let us buy something worthwhile with this stuff!
Why is everyone crapping all over this? Some of us are just now getting to this content, nearly all of my gear is 20-40 ilvls lower so as a 'catch up' this isn't actually terrible. I don't raid or run mythics (too undergeared to get in any groups) so this is really my best bet to get decent gear.
Changing to Bind-on-Account as of August 2, 20222 (Shadowlands Season 4). It will be much easier to use these for catch-up gear for alts now.
As of a short while ago, these are now Bind on Account.
1060 of them will get you 4 pieces to make 4-Piece on an alt.
Wouldnt it be great if these could be traded for
Didn't see it mentioned anywhere, but the gear you can by at Pilgrim's Grace with this can be converted to tier set pieces at the Creation Catalyst.
Personally, having gathered nearly 2600 of these, I finally realized a potential use for them - Drakthyr Evokers, at least on the Beta, start out in ilvl 190 gear, so having these available lets us at least get 9 pieces of gear at 245 ilvl which is SOMETHING. Granted the Prepatch event lets us get 250 ilvl gear but having access to this right away without questing is at least a potential use for these things.
If you already accumulated some ten thousands of these
s, an easy dump will be buying off the the gear with highest vendor value ratio then re-sell it back to
on place. The most valuable item is the
/relic piece. Disenchanting isn't worth at all even if procced because the SL enchanting mats are on the ground since the commodities became shared in the AH. Or you may disenchant them then wait for some future WoW expansions until SL mats become profitable again. :P
An other option -as someone mentioned here in the comments- to dump some of these BoA relics to gear up your Dracthyr Evokers throughout the realms you're active on. It's 2070x
per character for an ilvl246 set. However, the Dragonflight pre-patch Phase 2 arrives soon and it will provide ilvl 252 catch-up gear sets for every armor type through the Primalist attack event. At the same time the new
Uldaman: Legacy of Tyr
dungeon will also be available and it may probably give even higher level gear (around ilvl 278).
They need to add a option to buy mats or get gold for mass turn ins. I have 300 I cant do anything with.
