As of 8/8/20: Found this book in the most logical place. Where you do all your serpent training. The Arboretum in the Jade Forest. Talk to San Redscale <Serpent Keeper>. If you are exalted with Order of the Cloud Serpent it should be on the last page, last item. Book at this time is only 40 gold.

What is the point of this book being BOA if you still need to be exalted with the Order of the Cloud Serpent to learn it? which is how it is at the moment, you would just buy it on the Hunter if it were already exalted?

I bought and used a 驯龙入门 from 飒安·红鳞 on my Paladin, who is Exalted with 云端翔龙骑士团. My Hunter, who is not Exalted with 云端翔龙骑士团 was then able to tame a Crimson Firestorm cloud serpent.

You can LEARN the book on any class and the ABILITY will be account-wide. You have to be exalted to both buy and learn it. The text on the book is very misleading. If you buy the book, say, on your exalted mage just learn it on your mage. If you send it to your hunter who is not exalted, they will not be able to learn it.

tl;dr To tame cloud serpents on your hunter(s), buy and learn the cloud serpent book on ANY class that you have exalted with the Order of the Cloud Serpents. You do not have to learn it on a hunter.

I am dying trying to figure this out. I'm exalted on my monk, bought the tome (over 5 times now) and used it ( the little yellow yay you did it glow happened) and my hunter toon is still unable to tame cloud serpents. This is honestly the one thing I was looking forward to, am I doing something wrong?

WARNING: Taming Elegon still breaks your raid. You have to hearth out. Even if you run back to the raid to retry, the raid still thinks your in battle and will still have the starry wall up. You will have to give up on your last 2 boss loots for the week if you want to tame him.

Right now you need the book, pandaren or not. Tried taming a cloud serpent on my new panda hunter and got an error message telling me I didn't know how to.

Guessing this will be fixed eventually. For now, if you really have your heart set on taming noodle dragons, get the book. Panda or no, get the book.

So I bought this item from the vendor (twice) on a character that is exalted and learned it on that character (twice). I switch over to my hunter to see if I was able to tame a cloud serpent and I wasn't. My beast lore told me the beast was tameable but when trying to tame the beast I got an error of "Creature not tameable". As seeing the item is being advertised as account wide it should have worked, I submitted a ticket to Blizz and was met with the response:

"Thanks for reaching out to us about the How to School Your Serpent book! This actually happened to me last night, so I know the impact this can have. >_<

We've had reports of How to School Your Serpent being learned and working, then later on not letting you tame serpents anymore. We've passed it along to our developers for investigation. If they can verify that it's a bug, they'll do their best in to permanently fix it in a hotfix or a patch, depending on what it takes to fix it."

We shall see how long it takes for them to fix the issue....

Hopes this helps for anyone trying to tame the serpents and ending with the same results as I.

The item is account bound yet it is telling me to be exalted with the faction on my alt to even use it. I got exalted with the faction on my death knight a long time ago and used her to buy the book for my poor hunter. Do I really have to grind rep again? Is anyone having the same problem?

Today, Nov 4, 1:05 am eastern time on cenarius server, I was able to tame Elegon. I have a lvl 50 hunter, I used my priest on another server who had exalted rep to buy the book. I had her read it, logged out and onto my hunter. I went to the raid 25 man Heroic, and was able to tame him.

Also, if you are looking to tame 2 of him, and your first raid was bugged with the wall, do a LFR raid by going and talking to Lorewalker Han inside the Seat of Knowledge in Kun-Lao Summit. Choose the Second one from the top called Vault of Mysteries. Once he is tamed just look for the green eye on the map, right click it and choose Leave Instance group. You can use this method to tame him twice since it will be a new raid when you talk to Lorewalker Han again.

When you go to buy this item (or all tomes?) why does it let you learn the tome multiple times? Why doesn't it have the same "you have already learned this" text when you go to purchase it? I was testing it and was able to buy this tome twice and learn it twice, getting the yellow glow around my character both times as if it was a newly learned thing.

As of now, this thing is incredibly buggy; You can learn the time multiple times, It's account wide but you'll be unable to tame serpents on other characters, etc.

I just experimented before I bought the book - tried to tame a serpent while camping for Ha-Li and could not tame, so knew the book purchase was needed, not expensive, only 40g. I tamed one of the black serpents flying around the vale, expected it to fly with me, but unfortunately disappears whenever I leave the ground, so that's a shame. Still, cool to be able to tame them.

tturns out panda hunters also need the book. despite it being said that they can tame them without the book that is not true as i tried to tame one with out it

It seem taming Elegon is not so buggy as stated earlier. I stepped into his disc, and pressed my tame ability. When the cast finished, i acquired Elegon and the boss room reset, did the exact same thing again. 2 pets in less than a minute. no luck for the mount tho

Many report of a bug, that they are unable to tame a cloud serpent. I had the same issue and came here and didn't find a solution, however I think I found the problem.

I and I believe many of you were about to tame the Onyx Cloud Serpent in the top left Corner of Pandaria. There are black serpents flying in a circle around the mountain. These are untamable. However, on the island itself are the Onyx Cloud Serpents as pets of some of the mobs runnig around. You can tame those, without any problem.

November 2022, and this crap is still bugged. Can't tame a Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent from any of the two available options. On Tsulong it says I don't know how to tame Cloud Serpents, and on Shado-Pan Monastery's first boss it simply doesn't do anything, as if there isn't line of sight - even jumping on top of the "fence" doesn't seem to work. On both cases Beast Lore says they're tameable. I tried relogging, but it didn't work.
