When you use this item a blob of blood will come flying in an arc from the target to you, and will also change course when you move, so it will always land where you currently are. The visual effect on the ground is very faint and thus hard to see. The radius where you get the effect is also very small, maybe two yards. So better only use it when you know that you won't have to move at all most of the effect's duration.

As a healer, I'm always targeting friendlies. I couldn't figure out why this wasn't working until I came here. You need to target a hostile then use it. If anyone has a macro, it would be appreciated.
Not a great healer trinket, but better than what I had.

Occasionally, the buff circle from this trinket visually appears underground, save for the floating red dot on the floor. The buff circle is about 5 yards in diameter, which is very small.

This trinket is both in the Intellect DPS and Healer item pools.

Unfortunately, this is terrible as a healing trinket. A large percentage of the item budget is in the shadow damage that hits the target, and, assuming you want your healing trinkets to be more versatile than that (i.e. giving either stats or raw healing at worst), it's going to underperform trinkets 30+ itemlevels lower.

That's before we even get into how restrictive it is (must target hostile, must use every 1.5 minutes and then stand still for 15 seconds).

From what I've seen on sims for the different damage dealers, this also isn't very good for DPS either, even when you're considering the shadow damage amount. I've heard it's 'ok' as a PvP trinket for trying to do burst damage, but there's much better options for that too.
