In SL Beta this won't apply to Hunter's bow or gun, or at least not to mine. I have tried applying the oil to an un-enchanted bow as well, still nothing. The tooltip says "weapon" so figured it would work. Might be a bug.
This effect persists through death
Stealth hotfixed today to no longer be flagged as a crafting reagent. I discovered this when the Shadowcore Oil and
I had saved in my main's reagent bank last night were now in her backpack.
Does anyone have stats on the DPS or proc rate for this? I expect this item to be cheap enough that we can keep a full stack in our bags and keep it active for pretty much all PvE and PvP content, but was curious on how well it scales and if known what the procs per min were on it.
Does this also work with weapon enchants? Like does it stack I mean
So do Shamans not get to use this this xpac? As enhance it overrides windfury weapon which is most of my damage. I was hoping to be able to use the oil + potion combo effect...
Looks to be highly worthwhile for high speed weapons at the moment. As an ilvl 140 assassination rogue I'm seeing around 15% proc, and it's anywhere from 2.5% to 5% of my damage. You can apply to both weapons and it doesn't override poisons. Persists through death, usable at 51, and cheap to make (good to level alch with too). Pretty much win/win/win/win. Eventually the damage will be negligible, but have fun while it lasts!
Edit: 15% proc is based off of melee strike counts only, tooltip says "when you damage an enemy", so my number might be inflated.
Character: Troll BM Hunter, iLVL 191
Total Damage: 1.01M
Shadowcore Oil Hits: 59 (48 Normal, 9 Critical)
Shadowcore Oil Avg Dmg: 297
Shadowcore Oil Damage: 17K (1.7%)
Character: Troll MM Hunter, iLVL 191
Total Damage: 1.02M
Shadowcore Oil Hits: 58 (45 Normal, 13 Critical)
Shadowcore Oil Avg Dmg: 315
Shadowcore Oil Damage: 18.3K (1.8%)
- Damage does increase with damage buffs such as
- % of total damage would possibly increase on a class/spec that relies more on direct damage and less on pet damage. Will test again on other classes as I level them.
Is this worth it over the damage bonus from sharpening stones?
Is it normal for dual wield classes have twice the amount of procs of this oils if they have on both weapons? Wasn't it supposed to be some procs per minute or something?
anyone know a macro that remove the Shadowcore oil buff? When refilling, I want to make it in a macro because it is uncomfortable....
So for Enhancement Shaman, these Oils are pretty much useless? Along with the Potions that are "better" if used with an Oil?
Proc rate seems enriched as the number of 'damage events' increase - so classes that apply DoT's / have pets / have high auto attack (or channeled damage) speed , i suppose , are going to proc more of this oil than say , a ret paladin or arcane mage ?
heres my fastest proc rate as a Sv hunter with DoT's applied to a boss while i am out of melee range (chasing bugs maybe, or scared of Consumption) . Kill command applies a DoT (talent) that is basically 100% uptime with 2 second btwn ticks with no dot frontload , never changes tick interval (but ya kno , can multi target) . Serpent sting in SV is shorter duration than MM's version but frontloads a bigger portion of the damage (the on-hit damage) & squishes more Ticks into an equal interval of time , but backloads the 'gained ticks' from haste (the 'partial' tick is at the end , a nod towards latent poison) , whereas the MM sting deals a 'tick interval' of damage on cast & hasted 'bonus tick' occurs as the first passive damage , after the amount of time that equal to that saved between each tick from haste . either way , SV sting has higher tick rate & a higher frontload than MM but invests more GCD (and focus) to maintain the DoT &back to the point - the proc rate of Shadow oil attributed to Sting .
Gal Shadowcore Oil Blast Tred'ova *498*
Gal Shadowcore Oil Blast Tred'ova *497*
Gal Shadowcore Oil Blast Tred'ova (Absorbed: 237)
Gal Shadowcore Oil Blast Tred'ova (A: 474)
Im not sure if the delay on some of the Oil blasts comes from 'world lag' or 'log lag' or what , it probably is just the world lag that doesn't catch the Oil proc on time unless the DoT has a fixed tick rate or comes from a pet's damage.
(it is delayed as shown when it procs on Raptor strikes too and on Wildfire bombs, but not kill command dot. the kill command dot has the fixed interval of 2 seconds)
not that anyone asked but , i was looking over it & thought to share
speculating that since these blasts account for no more than 1.5% of my DPS , and my DPS is more than 2x my attack power , that i should use Sharpening instead , since it would add almost 2% to my attack power ? idk if im just being too approximate
