This trinket's proc chance
scales with haste
. It's a 1.2 + Haste RPPM for most specs. The radius for the proc is 8 yards around your target.
The proc chance is halved for melee and healer specs (except Discipline).
A rather unique proc for a trinket given that it harms the wearer. This trinket will not damage you if you're further than 8 yards from the target it procs on. Additionally, the damage it does to you can critically strike, and yes, this trinket can kill you. This makes it unsafe in raid situations where you're required to stack near the boss or adds.
I would definitely not recommended if you're trying to solo elite/boss mobs that enter melee range since a crit from this trinket will take a big chunk of your health off.

Please note that those are averages for normal hits, not considering crits.
The damage, as I've seen, is also influenced by the
6% buff to all nature damage
your Sunfire ticks provide.
It also has a chance to crit. My limited testing has it critting around 15% (my crit chance is 22%) for between
2.2-2.9 million damage
Over the course of a 4-minute fight, it procced 7 times, accounting for roughly 5.5% of my total damage, as it dealt
from those procs.
This is a very interesting item. It doesn't appear to have an internal CD, as I've had 2 procs back to back several times, and 4 within 30 second fight. But it will always proc on pull if you haven't attacked in a while. At least so far as I've noticed. It also will proc from DoT ticks.
So, as a Disc priest i got it ilvl925 today..
If i link it other ppl read 929,213 dmg from the proc.
On me it says 325,224 dmg.
Is it nerfed for Disc priests?

Pretty impressive damage on single target fights, its effect its mitigated on 1+ situations due to the split damage, but its great overall thanks to its high prochance. on M+ it can help with minibursting high value targets.
but don't wear this for your WQuesting, doing old content, etc...
if you one shoot a target and this procs, or if it procs as the target is dying, it will proc in the corpse dealing 100% of its damage to you since the target is dead. on a crit its a good 30% - 40% of you HP gone.
you can fix this by being more than 8yrs away ofc, but in my experience im rarely outside of this range when bumrushing worlquests or running around aoeing mobs in old content. also, remember that this works like the old atonement did, its 8yrds off the edge of the hitbox.
bottom line, whatever faster kill time you gain by having this on will be lost on the time eating to heal, getting ganked for being under 30% hp, or plain dying to a unlucky crit, specially when under CDs.
Worst trinket ever. Went back to my lower iLvl one. Deteriorated Construct Core.
I managed to kill myself with its 935 version while doing World Quests xP
Apparently it's BiS for mages, though. It does a lot of damage on Single Target.
Who thought a trinket that can kill you was a good idea? I mean, I get that someone thought it was an interesting concept. But it is an interestingly TERRIBLE concept.
I suggest not to kill yogg with this trinket, it can kill you in phase 1 with crits of 3.5M
This trinket is a serious trap and one I will never use again. Recently got this Titanforged to 945 from my Mythic Cache and I simply refuse to use it any longer after it's killed me a handful of times on bosses I absolutely have to stack for.
Don't care how much this thing sims, guys. You will hate it for all eternity.
I got this trinket a few weeks ago from Heroic TOS and it rolled titantforge 930 version. I'm a mage 922 and this thing hits like a truck, usually don't have a problem with it hurting me much, even stacking on KJ it didn't really hurt much but heals were good and flowing well.
When doing world quest every now and then I'll ifrost nova and it will proc the trinket and kill the mob instantly and I'll lose some health but not much where I'll need to sit and eat.
There is NO reason to remove the trinket even if you need to stack on a boss. It doesn't hurt that much. If it kills you in a raid, your healers are not geared enough or there were other reasons.
This trinket shows the difference between kids and real men in raids.
This obliterates in world PvP (I dont normally do world PvP since it requires PvE gear) But I was hit by this from a mage for 1.4m, and I have 3.3m HP.
Running old content that shouldn't do more than tickle and yet I'm randomly losing massive chunks if not almost all my health. Eventually I see "terror of the deep" WTF? ... Damn trinkets nearly doing what the low level mobs can't.
Got it on my holy priest. Well, it is nice when doing WQs and such, but sometimes i loose a chunk of health and im like "what in the world just hit me so hard?" Ah, just my little terror from bellow. :)
