Gearspring Parts: Revered for their ability to fix complex devices and mechanical equipment, they are more commonly known as "a can of WD-40 and a roll of Duct Tape"
Just a question, can i get those as reward for work orders at my garrison?
Can be crafted by Engineers on a daily cooldown using 10x
Also obtainable via Work Orders at your Engineering Workshop in your Garrison using 2x
Can be purchased from your Garrison's trader for 10x
How many can I get per day?
TL:DR version: minimum 11, maximum 22 (thanks myrkat)
You can complete 6 work orders each day, so that's 6 per day, or 12 if you have a level 100 follower assigned to the building.
With your skill at 600, you get 5 per day. This will increase as you level up your profession, the maximum you can get is 10 at 700.
Assuming you keep up with these daily, you can craft your headpiece or gun after ~1 week.
FINALLY ! !
Engineers can use ORE instead of BARS to craft what they need

I am feeling less love for us engineer from Blizzard...why can't i use 3cd the same day ( like tailoring/bs/lw ) for my crafting bop materials?
I need a 100 to craft the engineering goggles for my main. How likely is it that I will hit lvl 100 before being able to craft the helm?
As of 11/15/14, these were ninja-hotfixed to be uncommon (green) quality instead of rare (blue) quality.
From what I've seen before 700eng you can craft 4 gears daily and at 700eng you craft 10 daily.
This is the
of Draenor. Except instead of a few pets and toys, they are used for most everything. Getting only a handful per day (maxed out to
22 per day
), they will go quickly as a lot of things require 50 to 100 of them.
For Hunter engineers, this means, for example:
requires 100, an upgrade (like
) is another 150
requires 100, add a scope (like
) is another 20, then a
upgrade would be another 150.
So just getting the head piece and weapon, fully upgraded requires
Gearspring Parts (not to mention the 60
and the 30
for the two upgrades). I do not like the length of time it takes to grind out gear, because often the gear is not as good as the raid drops by the time you get them.
At least there are a lot of cool new toys!
Better known as "shprockets" among engineers......now it is time for us to dance.
2014-11-22 - They're back to blue again.
I just looted one of these (as an Alchemist) from a

All crafting reagents should not be soul bound, but battle.net account bound. The gearspring parts are soul bound at present. That means that it is impossible to use multiple characters to farm these and pass them to an engineer for making items. Other crafting reagents can be passed between a given player's characters.
There is a similar problem with being able to speed production of burnished leather. Having multiple characters pushed to level 100, each with their own garrison to increase the number of buildings to speed production does not work if the items cannot be passed between characters in a given players battle.net account.
The ultimate limiting factor on what a player can do comes from the real world time to farm materials, manage multiple garrisons, etc.
There's a new recipe that will allow you to make these for the cost of 1 primal spirit, 5 true iron ore and 5blackrock ore. It's called
and it wil be inplemented in 6.1!
If you have a ton of these and can't be bothered to craft items for the AH. You can craft
, they only require 20 parts each, have no crafting cooldown, and vendor for 30g a piece.
Just a thought...
Why does this page say these have a buyout price of "9g 46s 20c (each)" when they're soulbound and thus can't be bought or sold on the AH anyway?
This will make your life easier! Try it out.
PS: You have to put these spells on your action bar to make it work.

These really should stack at 1000, not 200.
For anybody picking up Engineering since the big professions reformatting in BfA; you get more than the 4 stated in the crafting window on your first craft. I got 8 on my Engineer and she had just picked up the profession, had like level 3 in Northrend Engineering (made some capacitors for questing alts).
With this in mind, can make one craft of the Gears and then craft an
