If I'm reading this entry correctly, Riverbeast meat drops from Basilisks, and not from Riverbeasts.
Sandhide Watcher, while having a good droprate on this, doesn't respawn fast enough to be farm-able, will check other sources next.
Confirming Stoneshamble Basilisks for best, they don't drop it often but they drop dead like flies and have a fast respawn rate.
Best place Ive found is the Stoneshamble Basilisk in Gorgrond, just be aware of the big rare that patrols back and forth in their pool.
I found this meat a great way of leveling up your cooking (above 600) quite quickly. When you first get the recipe for Braised Riverbeast it gives you +5 in cooking for each one cooked and if you go out to Gorgrond and kill the Stoneshamble Basilisk, which are just above Beast Watch, you will find you get plenty of meat to work with.
One of the flesh/meats used in the Warlords of Draenor expansion.
The expansion brought us five new animal meats, eight new fish flesh, and one egg.
The one, lonely egg:
Note that stacks of
(5, 10 or 20 depending on size of fish) give
instead of flesh when filleted.
Raw Riverbeast Meat dropped by Basilisk's !
Hint maybe they should rename it to Raw Basilisk Meat :)
Sulfur Basin is a good place to farm
quick respawns and not a bad drop rate just watch out for the elite you also get progress towards an achi for killing him
The Stoneshamble drop is awful - about 1 meat in 5 kills. Don't worry about the elite that wanders the river - it won't attack if you don't and that's a promise made by it.
UPDATE 12/3/14 @11:45 AM
loc: TALADOR WATERS EAST OF AUCHINDOUN
94 YOUNG RIVERWALLOW
95 MASSIVE RIVERWALLOW
DROP RAW RIVERBEAST MEAT!
YEY THANKS BLIZZ!
AS OF 12/2/2014 @ 5PM PST
92-93 STONESHAMBLE BASILISK
92-93 MIRE BASILISK
DO NOT DROP RAW RIVERBEAST MEAT!
Can confirm that these are no longer dropping from basilisks but instead from riverbeasts as of 12/2. Perhaps this is what that 6 hours of extended maintenance was for.
After reading the above posts about no longer dropping from basilisks, I've begun farming around the ring shaped lake in talador. The young riverwallows around 63,55 spawn fairly quickly and you can run between there and just south where Hilaani is.
Alternatively if you just do laps of the lake killing all riverbeasts you see, by the time you get back round everything has respawned.
Happy hunting :)
Excellent spot to farm for this is in Talador at around 63.90, 57.10, the strip of lake between the Tomb of Lights and Terrokar Refuge. There are a ton of Young Riverwallows here and their respawn time is ridiculously short.
is the only thing that I have found to drop this meat as of 12/3/14. In Talador.
After trying to farm Raw Riverbeast Meat in Talador for quite some time and finding that the drop rate is pretty low, I moved over to Nagrand. The Wetland Riverbeasts that spawn along the river near Riverside Post seem to have a fairly high drop rate. So far, I've gotten 1 piece of meat for every 1 or 2 riverbeasts that I've killed. There is a large group of them at around 36.77 48.49 in Nagrand.
I've notice that the Wetland Tramplers nearby also drop the meat, but aren't the easiest to kill.
Sandhide Watchers in Spires of Arak drop rate was @ 50% as of today 0 drops in 30 kills.
If farming this: Leather worker highly suggest. Talador, 62, 54 are the coordinates I hunt in. (Though for leather working I would not say it's the best. I give it a 7/10, but 10/10 for both Raw River Beast Meat AND leather.)
The young Riverwallow-- 9 of them, south of a bridge. They give about 6-9 Raw beast hide scraps usually, or sometimes a raw beast hide. Just kill 4-5 and move to the other side, and by the time you're done looting/skinning those, the other side on the other side respawn already- probably re-spawned as fast as you've moved to the other group!
The amount of meat gained per pack is higher/faster than running around trying to kill those secluded riverbeast mobs. Additionally each loop going up and down again is about 10 raw beast hides worth or more usually, and about 4-5 or more Raw Riverbeast Meat. (Though sometimes a pack will still give zero because of RNG, but rarely.)
These are also part of a quest so please be kind of someone needs to tame them.
DON'T FORGET TO ENJOY THE SCENERY! ;)
The best place I found was north pool from Evermorn Springs in Gorgrond, the spawn rate is super fast.
In the area of
63,54 - Talador
Just northeast of Tomb of Lights
30 minute farming session
with some competition, I pulled:
45 Raw Riverbeast Meat
(1.5 per minute)
986 Raw Beast Hide Scraps ...
(32.8 per minute)
I spent about 10 minutes running around and killing Wetland Riverbeasts. I would say from my initial tests the drop rate of Raw Riverbeast Meat is about 80%. These mobs have 127.2k health and are close to mobs the mobs Wetland Trampler (Which are needed for level 3 barn quests) with 880.7k health so be careful. The aggro radius of the Wetland Trampler is fairly small maybe 10 yards if you are level 100.
*note* The Wetlands Tramplers are not 100% drop rate so they would not be worth farming.
*note* The spawn rare of the Wetlands Riverbeasts is about 5min.
Personally, the best place for farming for me was the
s in Gorgrond. Specifically, the lake at
The most efficient way to farm this area is by standing on the rock in the middle of the lake and then pulling the Lazymaws around you. You should be able to get all of them from the rock, excluding this one Lazymaw on the far side of the lake. The Lazymaws spawn so quickly there should always be one alive once you're done killing one. After about 5 minutes I was already surrounded by Riverbeast corpses.
Chubby as they are one would think that there is a whole lot more meat on them...
Anyhow, I found that
has a good droprate and respawns reasonably fast (1 minute).
