Believed to be the newest crafting material made from possibly DEing raid mats in SoO. making crafting those items required to raid, rather than just having x living steel and X blood spirits.
This looks like it will be the new "raid" crafting material in 5.4. Unlike previous patches, it looks like the Spirit of War will be used to bypass the daily cooldown on the new craft material for 553 gear. This means that raiders should be able to get the gear earlier than others, while making it more accessable for players that don't raid.
These items are the new
and can be used for crafting. They are acquired from disenchanting raid quality items and as such will be very rare and expensive at the start of the patch. However the method of crafting has changed.
The disenchanting drop rate appears to be 2 spirits per piece of siege loot disenchanted. LFR and Flex do not appear to give spirits.
Blacksmiths will make
for one Spirit of War and one
Tailors will make
for one Spirit of War and ten
(A total of 50
Leather workers will make
for one Spirit of War and two
All of these items are craftable
Spirits of War, but they are placed on a one day cooldown similar to
. In addition, the one day cooldown spells will give you a random new recipe, no word yet on whether using spirits of war will provide a new recipe. If they do, they could be a viable option early to grind new recipes before anyone else.
Belts will be craftable for 21 of the respective item(taking 3 weeks to create without using spirits), while cloth pants will be craftable for 28 of the respective item(taking 4 weeks to create without using spirits). No additional mats are required. The item levels of belts and pants are 553.
I assume like Blood Spirit and Haunting Spirits that these will be trade-able as well?
Does anyone know if using this CD also makes you learn another pattern like the daily CD does.
I disenchanted a Flex item today on Live, only granted a Sha Crystal
Disenchanting normal Siege of Orgrimmar epics (553 Item level) gives 1-2
Spirits of War
. Using a Spirit of War to craft an extra daily mat DOES NOT teach you new recipes.
today and learned
, takes 28
for just those pants ilvl 553. Think i'll pass on doing this bs.
Does anyone know if these drop from LFR gear?
Despite Blizzard's efforts, Blood Spirits and then Haunting Spirits eventually suffered from duping exploits. I imagine this new approach is their latest attempt to curb the duping. These won't be demanded as much as their predecessors, since they simply will speed up crafting processes vs being *required* in order to make powerful gear.
one month to make 1 piece of gear is retarded bs is becoming a very tiring profession
Got 2 from DEing a second set of tier gloves from Celestials. That is a source outside normal/heroic SoO.
Spirit of War... Craft.
Here are some tips for new players.
1 Don't bother crafting if your not maximum level, the time and effort since the changes, have made it a time and grind pointless task. Here is why: Making pointless green items that are so inferior to the stuff that drops in game, makes absolutely no sense (quite a few of these low level green items require a whole bunch of different mats)..crafting and leveling are no longer hand in hand sync. That is, the stuff you make is inferior to quest items, the cost of grinding the items is now 3 or 4 times that, of which it used to be.
2 Even if you are maximum level, there may well be absolutely no benefit in making stuff. At 90 a simple hop over to the timeless isle and before you know it your in welfare 496 epics. The cost of making stuff, unless a tailor making bags (even then, its a long and terribly nasty grind to be able to make netherweave bags and beyond)
3 553 items take a long time to make, by which time you have made a set, they become useless, thanks to the newest raid.
4 Blizzard made some really bad decisions...1 spirits of harmony should from the start have been account bound, they admitted it themselves recently. 2 adding more and more time sync grinds to make items, that lets face it, are instantly replaceable by doing raids.
5 The only possible reason for doing any of these professions (crafting, blacksmithing pure pointless grind, tailoring, great if you can actually stomach the extremely low cloth drop rates , they've recently slapped onto the game.
If your a new low level player...wait until dinging 90, there is absolutely zero benefit, either in trying to make gold on the ah from the garbage you make (inferior to quest items, and world drops).
Unless you plan on doing enchanting, which ends up being extremely expensive.
well, as with all such crafting goodies, there's a period where guilds will keep them "in house" to get geared up, then top guilds will start getting useless drops and once their alts are sufficiently geared they MIGHT sell the excess to pay the flask bill. I think on day 21 the prices will drop, and on day 28 they'll drop again...once the non-spirit crafted epics are on the market....and then continue to go down until everyone's slaughtering immerseus each week on reg (he's insanely easy) and the price will be negligible.
Since I am a lone player I have No chance to get one , unless I buy it. That takes the fun out of playing the game. can't make new things.
3-4 week per item, ill just put them in AH!
Can anyone confirm that these are obtainable by Disenchanting Raid finder ilvl 528 items?
My question is how come engineering was not given this ability too, since it takes 30 Jard's Peculiar Energy Source to make a sky golem. Plus another 15 days to make 1 companion of the 2 companions. Along with living steel in equal amounts. I am getting to where I am starting to hate the developers cause they are making me hate the game.
I made a calculation about daily crafting cooldowns and their value. I play on Twisting Nether, one of the crowded realms in EU.
I have a tailor, engineer, blacksmith & leatherworker.
If I deduct the price of material needed every day for each profession, this is the daily profit you'll make in a month:
1 Spirit of War cost here 250g.
If you use these numbers as pointers (of course they can change on every realm, but I think a crowded realm is more or less accurate to others) you'll see your best (and only!) choice for money making is if you use this for Blacksmith (shame, but you can't use for engineering). 1 Spirit of War will get you an extra 80g / craft at the end when you sell your item in the AH.
A disenchanted material that can't be placed in enchanting bags. Thanks Blizz!
These should hardly have any value at all after the first 28 days (which we are well past now). Its not like they allow you to create the items without using the same mats as the daily cooldown and the items they create barely sell for the price of the mats on most servers.
Seriously! I just bought a crapload of these at the AH to accelerate my LW research, only to find out that they don't open new ones. 'What a waste of money! Maybe someone noted this earlier but I didn't read all the comments. So basically, the hardened magnificent hide doesn't sell for much, the items they make are a tough sell and now I find out they don't help with research. What is the good of them? Am I missing something? Edit: I stopped reading one post too soon. Thanks for the heads-up anyway Mandie.
Why can't leather workers use spirits of harmony to make an accelerated magnificent hide? I'd rather have a root canal than raid.
have you ever heard of quest items or heirlooms, granted that heirlooms obviously require jp and max level character.
What I stated holds true. At max level you can get spirit of war if you raid / pvp whichever these days. By the time you have the mats to make a green item to wear you have wasted a good chunk of time getting the mats and likely already outleveled it..plus lfd will give you blue gear.
What the hell is that icon? A bloody shield?
Can you get Spirit of War in SoO Raid Finder?
It would appear as though these no longer drop from what was previously considered Normal/Warforged drops, which are now labeled as Heroic/Heroic Warforged. After DEing several drops from our weekly "Normal" clear, I have obtained absolutely ZERO of these things. I cannot comment about whether or not they drop from DEing Mythic Gear, but as of 6.0.2, these are no longer obtainable from 553 or 559 equipment.
I think that 6.0.2 have a little bug, that dont give any Spirit when you disenchant SoO Heroic loot.
I already disenchanted 4 items and did not get any Spirit. :(
I disenchanted at least four items today that dropped in heroic (formerly normal) SoO, and got zero Spirits. So either there's a bug or they've been removed from the game.
Update 11/12/14: Since the initial post I've DE'd at least a dozen more heroic items and haven't seen a single one. So it looks like Blizz removed them from the drop table.
So, I decided to check in with a GM on this after seeing the comments, and this is what they have to say:
Game Master Rharismor here!
I was looking over the ticket you submitted earlier asking if Spirit of War is still available in WoW!
It seems that Blizzard has removed the item for now :/
Either that, or an extremely RARE drop rate!
I apologize :/
A lot of people have been dealing with this, and i must say, it might be better off assuming that its gone.
Maybe we will see something in the new patch?

If you have any other questions or issues in the near future, please feel free to contact us here at Blizzard!
So, we can probably say that it's non-existent in the game and will have to just do the daily cooldowns if people are still wanting to make the materials.
PS: I just noticed the little ASCII doodle... XD
I just got two of these today from disenchanting
from the Celestials on Timeless Isle, so they are not completely gone.
So was running this today in mythic, for the kicks, and we didn't get one spirit of war from any of the regular loot.
However, the tier tokens, when I traded them in for the actual armor pieces, and disenchanted them, I got 2 spirit of war from every single tier piece.
Will check again next week, to see if this is consistent.
It only comes from disenchanting SoO tier
Ran H SoO last week...didn't get any tier for my class, but decided to de all the gear ....snagged ~4 spirits of war from non-tier items. ~4 from all the items from a full run. Decided to try it on normal this week and got a tier item for my class...de'ed it and DID NOT get a spirit of war.
Not running it on normal ever again....may try mythic and try de'ing all items.
06.05.2020 - FULL CLEAR
Siege of Orgrimmar
I ended up with
66 Sha Crystals and only 2 Spirit of War
. The spirit of war was from the only tier item I got for my class (Warrior).
So if you ever run Siege of Ogrimmar, vendor all the items you get, except for the actual tier items that you get from tokens.
Alright I am surprised nobody has done this yet, because the 'Disenchanted from' tab is 99% useless, as it shows mostly gear that was removed from the game in 6.0 and replace with nearly identical stuff that has a different DE table,
shows every item that WILL 100% of the time drop 2 of these each time, as expected most of it is teir, how ever there are 4 items NON tier that DO drop them from SoO, I can only assume that, because at least one of these were bugged and did NOT drop them pre 6.0 they added them in post 6.0 I guess? That is my only explanation as otherwise they are just completely randomly picked, there is an agi staff, a str mace, a neck and a ring. Also according to my link all ordos drops will also DE into these as well. You can also see for yourself before you DE an item, by coping your character to the PTR and DEing the stuff there. I did a full run of M and up to bugs on H (bags were full by that point) copied over 3 times, and each time I DEed the same items and ended up with 10 Spirits, from the same exact items, 2 from each. So I think I can safely say they are 100% drop for some items and are not at all on the drop table for others.
I was reading this and saw people saying that DE tier SoO pieces are the only drop chance. So I went to Timeless Isle to try to get a tier piece before running SoO and stopped by to kill Ordos and from bonus loot I got an item and I disenchanted it and received two spirit of war. I haven't noticed anyone posting about the possibility of the change in it's drop (only did one item) So, I decided to mention it. I'll put a screenshot just in case it helps
Mythic clearrun yielded 68 Sha Crystals and a total of 4 Spirit of War (2 per Tier Set Item I disenchanted).
The price for this item is going to be higher as of April 1st 2022 on AH because of the Legion's Mage Tower
Atleast for the time being , make use of it .
