10-man

meta-achievements consists of achievements solely from the
Icecrown Citadel (ICC)
raid. It is assumed that players know how to perform the fights on Regular mode, so that is not discussed here. This guide presents the boss fights for Heroic mode in the raid for both 10- and 25-man versions, as well as strategies on how to obtain the mechanistic achievements found in ICC, most of which are required for the
Glory of the Icecrown Raider
achievements.

Obtaining the Drake
First, it should be noted that both the 10-man version AND the 25-man version of the
Glory of the Icecrown Raider
achievements each reward a mount upon completion.

While it may be possible for a well geared, competent group to get the drake in a single lockout period by running the raid on Heroic mode and doing the mechanistic meta-achievements at the same time, most groups will find at least one of these fights too difficult to do both simultaneously. Fights that tend to be tricky to do both achievements at the same time are:

can be taxing on players as well. Thus, a raid group should break the meta-achievement into two lockouts, doing all the fights on Heroic mode one week and all the mechanistic achievements on Regular mode another week. Any mechanistic achievements that are gained in the Heroic week should be considered bonuses, but not focused on obtaining. This will not only cut down on the strain for each fight on players, but also allow everyone to focus on either completing the fight (Heroic mode) or working with the mechanic (mechanistic on Regular mode). Success rates will go up, while rage and repair bills will go down.
Another key component for raid groups working on this achievement is the use of addons. My personal support is for Deadly Boss Mods (DBM) and RaidAchievement, although others work just as well.
DBM is a commonly used addon to tell players what the boss is doing during a fight, including alerts to interrupt casts, move out of damaging areas, or to shift damage to a particular npc. It, or another similar addon, should be used by every member of a raid to increase fight awareness.
RaidAchievement tracks all the achievements for a particular boss fight, and announces completion or failure in party or raid chat, depending on the type of instance. It is only required by a single group member, and while its use isn't mandatory, it helps simplify tracking the achievement requirements.

Basic Map Walkthrough
**Please note that PORTALS, not bosses, are marked on these maps.**

This is the first map a group will encounter upon entering the
Icecrown Citadel
raid. Players zone in at the top of the map, and as they exit the initial hallway, there is a portal available after clearing the first two bosses to allow for wipes to rapidly shift back up to the area they are on. Also in this area are several vendors, including a repair vendor, as well as a portal to Dalaran located on the right-hand side.
After two rooms of trash, including two pairs of traps, raids will arrive at
玛洛加尔领主
, the first boss of the fight. Past him, up the ramp is located
亡语者女士
, who is in her own room of trash.
Once
亡语者女士
is dead, her platform will activate as an elevator and allow raids to move up to a pathway of several trash mobs and onto their
.
portal
Once the
is ended, raids will step off their ship and back onto solid ground. Here raids will face

, and although there is no trash at this point, there is a significant RP session.
Upon defeating
死亡使者萨鲁法尔
, repair vendors will set up on the platform.
Raids will now navigate a small passage with ice-cold air damaging players that run through. A rogue can deactivate these jets, and once a player has made it to the other side, the portal located on Deathbringer's Rise will activate for subsequent players to avoid having to navigate the ice jets.

When first arriving on this map through a portal on Deathbringer's Rise or by running through a small passageway, players begin on the bottom leg of the cross. Two

s fly above the pathways, patrolling the area. The remainder of the boss fights can be accessed through this map, and all wings have some amount of trash that must be cleared on a group's way to the bosses.
To the left, players will head to the Plagueworks where they will first fight

before facing

Straight across from their initial platform, at the top of the map, players can fight the
Blood Prince Council
before moving on to

up a ramp in the Royal Quarters.
To the right of their initial platform, players must save

before heading down to face
辛达苟萨
in the Frostwing Halls.
Once all the bosses are killed, a raid group can face

by running onto the small blue platform in the center of the cross to be ported up to the Frozen Throne. This central portal does not activate until all other bosses have been defeated.
A raid that has killed the
Blood Prince Council
can clear three trash mobs on their way up either of the ramps on the sides of the
Princes
' room to make their way up to
鲜血女王兰娜瑟尔
's room.
Once
鲜血女王兰娜瑟尔
is dead, the small platform that the last mob was standing on at the top of the ramp will disappear, allowing for a quick return to the Upper Reaches level.

After finishing the

fight, raids will continue to the back of the room where an elevator will activate, taking the group down a level to this map.
A gauntlet starts upon entering the first room, and once that ends, the group will continue to kill two mobs. Once the two mini-boss drakes waiting on the grounda are dead, the
辛达苟萨
fight will start.
After
辛达苟萨
is dead, players may run up the left ramp to take a portal back to the Upper Reaches level.
The last level of the
Icecrown Citadel
raid, this is only available once all other bosses are dead. To get here, players must step onto the small platform in the middle of the Upper Reaches crossroads. The only way to leave this platform is to die or via player-made portal (hearth, summon, mage-portal, or portal-item).
There is no trash here, and raids are met with
巫妖王
presiding over the platform from his throne, seated at the top of the platform's stairway, located at the bottom of the map. Once the fight has been activated, he will walk down to fight the raid group.

The best technique for this is to have all dps players create a macro and place it on their fight bar. The macro should be:

Remember: In 10-man, one player is randomly targeted during each

, whereas in 25-man, three players are randomly targeted.
Heroic Fight Mechanic
In the heroic version of this fight,

continues to cast
天灾领主之刺
during his

cast. Both he and the
骨针
s have higher health as well, and

stays on the ground for a longer period of time.
Raid groups should stay close to the boss during this fight. Generally, since
玛洛加尔领主
is tanked where he stands at the beginning, everyone should stay under him (or as close as possible). No one should be further than the outer ring on the ground. Additionally, rather than spreading out during
白骨风暴
, everyone should stay within the ring on the ground so that
骨针
s are localized and can be killed quickly.

To obtain the
Full House
achievements, raids must "defeat Lady Deathwhisper with at least five different types of Cultists active at the time of her demise."
Throughout the fight, adds will run in from the sides and back of the boss room. The five different types of Cultists are

The marked Cultists should be cc-ed or kited in the back of the room until all five types are present, at which point everyone should focus damage on the boss and kill her quickly. Raid groups can bring

's shield down to ~30-40% while they wait, to lessen the amount of time at the end of the fight.
On 10-man, the adds alternate between spawning on the left and right sides of the room, with a combination of three Cultists each time. On 25-man, a total of six adds spawn on both sides of the room, three from each side.
Remember: On Regular mode, the adds stop when
亡语者女士
's shield is depleted, while on Heroic mode, she continues to call adds throughout the entirety of the fight.
Heroic Fight Mechanic
In the Heroic version of this fight, all of the changes are in phase 2.
The most notable change is that Cultists will continue to spawn even after
亡语者女士
's shield is depleted and the fight moves into phase 2. Adds that spawn are: ONE Cultist from the ENTRANCE of the room on 10-man or THREE from alternating sides of the room on 25-man. These should be killed quickly before damage-dealers return their focus to
亡语者女士
, to avoid too much damage from hitting raid members.
Additionally, once in phase 2, she will use
统御心灵
to mind-control ONE person on 10-man or THREE people in 25-man. Players should use cc's to minimize the impact this mechanic has on the fight.
Finally,
亡语者女士
is not tauntable in phase 2, so make sure that tanks are always highest on threat, and that one tank taunts the boss just before her shield dissipates.

Meta-Achievement Mechanic
To receive the
I'm on a Boat
achievements, raid groups must "claim victory in the Gunship Battle without any raid member visiting the enemy gunship more than TWICE in 10-man or ONCE in 25-man."
Technically speaking, this achievement is bugged, and players should receive the achievement upon winning the fight regardless of how the mechanic is played out. But, for the purposes of completion, the technique for this fight is to break a raid group into teams of no more than 5 players, and have each team jump across onto the enemy gunship. Once a team has gone across, it shouldn't go back until the rest of the raid teams have cycled through. On 10-man, this allows for four 5-man jumps (Team 1, Team 2, Team 1, Team 2), and on 25-man, this allows for five 5-man jumps (Team 1, Team 2, Team 3, Team 4, Team 5). Most groups will find they need only 3-4 jumps before the fight ends.
Heroic Fight Mechanic
The only major difference in the Heroic version of this fight is the amount of health everything has (boat, adds, etc) is increased. Thus, raid groups need to make sure their damage is high enough to complete the fight.
Mechanistic differences for this fight are that Enemy Soldiers gain experience faster, and so need to be killed more rapidly, as well as
火箭炮
causing a knockback on any players it hits.

is placed on a player, generally one of the ranged dps or a healer, and deals damage to not only that player, but also anyone within a certain range. Thus, it's important to make sure ranged players stay at least 12-yards apart throughout the fight.
血兽
s are spawned roughly every 30 seconds (2 in 10-man, 3 in 25-man) and start moving toward whoever has highest aggro on them. Once they reach that person, any melee damage they deal increases

's Blood Power. They should be attacked and slowed by ranged dps players, pulling the
血兽
s away from the melee and tank(s), while melee dps and the tank(s) focus on single-target damage to the boss.
It's also possible to let the first 1-2 players who receive the

's Blood Power increases, depending on the group's abilities.
Remember: The key to this achievement is a combination of a dps-race and staying spread out.
Heroic Fight Mechanic
In the Heroic version of this fight, the only new ability is

s that spawn throughout the fight. This causes them to reduce all nearby enemies movement speed by 80% and increasing their damage by 300% for 10 sec.
All other spells act as they do in Normal difficulty, dealing the same damage and being cast at the same frequency, though of course

s have more health.

One player in the raid group must drink a vial on

There are two major mechanistic differences in the Heroic version of this encounter.
On Heroic mode,

. Players should dps these down as soon as possible before shifting their focus back to the boss.
In 25-man, he will mark approximately half of the players with a

debuff. Players will only be able to deal damage to the add that matches their debuff.
The other major change to the fight is the addition of
肆虐毒疫
and the corresponding debuff

will use

on a random raid member about 1-2 times each phase.
肆虐毒疫
lasts 60 seconds and will do increasing damage to whatever player it is on, but will jump to nearby raiders if there are any within range.
To work with this mechanic, raid groups should spread out prior to and during the phase transitions. The infected player especially should step away from the rest of the raid, take the
肆虐毒疫
's damage for about 10-12 seconds, then move to another raider and pass it on. The old target will receive
天灾疾病
, which increases the damage taken by
肆虐毒疫
by 250%, so they should never get it again or it will be a relatively instant kill, while the new target will receive the
肆虐毒疫
with as many seconds as were left before the passing (50-48 ideally). The raid needs to continue passing it until the 60 second duration of
肆虐毒疫
expires.

Mishandling three spells can cause a raid group to fail this achievement, one from each of the
Princes
when active:

, and although a single hit cannot deal enough damage to lose the achievement, raids will nevertheless find it beneficial to spread out when it is being cast to minimize its impact. It's important to have ranged dps keep DoTs on the

s as well, because if one falls and knocks players close to each other right before an

, this spell can cause the raid to fail the achievement.
塑造强能烈焰
is cast by
塔达拉姆王子
, and is only a concern if it hits a player within a short range who is standing alone. This spell does less damage the further it has to travel to the targeted player, as well as its damage being lessened if it hits more people. Raids should have melee run with the
烈焰
toward the targeted player, as well as the targeted player running away from the
烈焰
to neutralize the effect.

is cast by

, and is the most likely way for a raid to fail the achievement. Thus, it is extremely important for the tank on
凯雷塞斯王子
to keep a stack of 3-4

on them at all times. This is given off by the
Dark Nuclei
that are conjured throughout the fight, and each stack decreases damage taken by

.
Heroic Fight Mechanic
There is one major mechanic change in the Heroic version of this fight. A new debuff has been added called
暗影牢笼
that deals increasing damage as it stacks, and it is prompted by movement. It takes 10 seconds for the debuff to fall off, so any movement should be done in bursts, rather than continuous. This can make the fight extremely difficult for the tank on
凯雷塞斯王子
, as well as on any melee dps in the fight.
To work with this new mechanic, as well as the other spells sent out during the fight, ranged players should spread out across the room. One tank should hold
瓦拉纳王子
and
塔达拉姆王子
near the center of the room so that most of the ranged dps can attack the active
Prince
. It's still important to keep the raid spread out for
瓦拉纳王子
's

, the knockback effect of which will automatically stack the

debuff. Players that get thrown near another player should immediately separate, and then let the debuff fall off as quickly as possible to minimize the strain on healers. All melee dps should stay with these bosses, except when they need to spread out for

Another tank should hold
凯雷塞斯王子
on the platform on the far end of the room, and try to kite in bursts, making use of any slows or stuns. Ranged dps should attack
凯雷塞斯王子
when he is active, while melee wait until one of the other
Princes
activates.
Additionally,

s will fall faster, so it's important to have ranged dps located near the four corners of the room dedicated to keeping them in the air with DoTs.

This achievement is rather clearly stated: it is for an individual player, not a raid group. A player must defeat

), and once without receiving the buff. It should be noted that a player who receives the buff and dies due to the mind-controlling

The Heroic version of this fight is nearly identical to Normal difficulty, with a minor change being implemented in addition to her health boost and increased damage by her spells.

found within it, it is not mandatory. If any

is missed, the achievement will fail, so non-healers should jump inside a

if there are not enough healers or one will not make it to the
Portal
in time.
Heroic Fight Mechanic
The only change in the mechanics of the fight in Heroic mode is the addition of some minor damage taken by the people inside the Emerald Dream every time they touch a

. Any non-healers who are inside the
梦魇之门
s should stay low to the ground to avoid accidentally flying through a
梦魇之云
, as healers have a lot more work on Heroic mode to heal

up to full health. Dps should focus on keeping

to a minimum by killing
镇压者
before they reach the boss. Additional
梦魇之门
s will spawn, so extra players must jump inside of them.
Additionally, the
寒冰箭雨
spell cast by

s drains mana in Heroic mode, but the cast can and should be interrupted.

Meta-Achievement Mechanic
To obtain the
All You Can Eat
achievements, raid groups must "defeat Sindragosa without any member of your raid receiving more than 5 stacks of Mystic Buffet."
During phase 3 of this fight,
辛达苟萨
sends out the
秘法打击
debuff every 5-6 seconds. The most important component is making sure players take the time to LoS the boss and let their stacks fall off - tanks who fail to do so will cause the raid group to fail this achievement!
The most straight-forward technique is to have the OT start by LoS-ing
辛达苟萨
as soon as an
寒冰坟墓
is down until their stacks of
秘法打击
drop, and then LEAVING IT UP! Let the OT take aggro, and have the MT use the same
寒冰坟墓
to drop their stacks of
秘法打击
as well before retaking aggro on
辛达苟萨
. Once both tanks have used the first
寒冰坟墓
to reset their stacks, dps should break the
寒冰坟墓
. Then, the tanks will switch off each time a new
寒冰坟墓
is formed, letting their stacks reset.
寒冰坟墓
s should be alternately placed near the head and tail of
辛达苟萨
, but far enough away that they will not entrap any other players (especially one of the tanks).
Heroic Fight Mechanic
An additional player will be targeted with a
冰霜道标
during
辛达苟萨
's air phase (phase 2), making it THREE players in 10-man and SIX players in 25-man. It's extremely important that groups decide before the fight begins how they will be dealing with this. A sound strategy is to have all the marked players spread out along the bottom of the stairs, while everyone else stands at the top. Players can use all of the
寒冰坟墓
to LoS each of the 4
冰霜炸弹
s that
辛达苟萨
sends out before breaking out all of the players.
Another change is that
狂咒
, a debuff that affects casters by giving them increasing stacks of
动荡
, will now not only damage the caster but also anyone near them. To avoid this doing significant amounts of damage to the raid group, players should remain spread out when possible, and casters should let their stacks drop off periodically.

The Lich King
Meta-Achievement Mechanic
To obtain the
Been Waiting a Long Time for This
achievements, raid groups must "allow Necrotic Plague to stack to 30 before defeating the Lich King."
死疽
is a disease that inflicts damage every 5 seconds for 15 seconds. If the effect ends (it expires, host dies, or is removed with a spell),
死疽
will jump to another target within 10 yards. If no players or adds are within 10 yards,
死疽
will disappear. However, it should be noted that whenever
死疽
jumps,
巫妖王
gains a stack of
热病虹吸
, which will increase the strain on healers.
If the effect is removed with a spell,
死疽
will lose a stack; if the target dies while affected, it will gain a stack.
Tactically, the best strategy is to put
死疽
on the adds being tanked away from the rest of the raid group. Since they will not receiving any heals, they will die of
死疽
and increase the stacks more rapidly. Players that receive
死疽
should temporarily shift to the area where the adds are being tanked and be cleansed, causing
死疽
to jump to the adds (most likely) or the tank (less likely, but if it occurs, the tank should be cleansed as well).
Since
死疽
is only active during phase 1 of the fight, dps should be careful not to push
巫妖王
below 70% health prematurely.
Heroic Fight Mechanic
All three phases of this fight are affected by the Heroic difficulty, though the phase transitions remain the same.
During phase 1
巫妖王
gains an ability called
暗影陷阱
. Dealing with it is similar to dealing with
污染
- everyone needs to move away from where the targeted player was standing, as the
暗影陷阱
will cause everybody standing in it to be knocked off the platform after about 3 seconds trigger time.
A simple way to keep track of this spell is to have a tank hold
巫妖王
in the center of the ring (where
大领主提里奥·弗丁
stands prior to the fight starting) with any melee dps, while all ranged members stack on one of the prongs seen on the floor. If another tank is available, they should tank the adds off to the side of the circle. If the
暗影陷阱
goes out on the melee group, they should shift around the center of the ring. If the
暗影陷阱
is placed on someone in the ranged group, the entire group should move to the next prong, going in a consistent direction. If it's on the tank with adds, they should move away from the spot but stay in range of the rest of the group, since
死疽
will still be going out.
During phase 2, the
瓦格里暗影戒卫者
s will not die. Instead, when their health drops below 50%, they will drop their targets and fly above the raid. They will drain health from the raid, healing themselves using
生命虹吸
, but will not pick up another player. The key to surviving this mechanic is not only to get the
瓦格里暗影戒卫者
down to 50% quickly, keeping all of the raid group members on the platform, but also to have high dps on
巫妖王
to limit the number of
瓦格里暗影戒卫者
s that leech health from the raid.
During phase 3, the
巫妖王
will use
收割灵魂
on everyone in the raid group. Instead of one player, the entire raid will be sent inside Frostmourne. There, instead of
泰瑞纳斯·米奈希尔
fighting the
灵魂戒卫
, they will see a lot of
卑劣的灵魂
s that float above the floor. If a
卑劣的灵魂
reaches a player, it cast
灵魂爆裂
- similar to the
卑劣的灵魂
s found in Normal difficulty. There are also "bombs" that fall slowly from the ceiling and explode when they hit the ground, the damage from which should be healed through. When all the
卑劣的灵魂
s are dead,
泰瑞纳斯·米奈希尔
will cast
恢复灵魂
on all members of the raid, regardless of when or how they died, and send them back to fight
巫妖王
.
Watch out for
污染
when you get out, as you will all be stacked around the boss and it will come out soon after exiting Frostmourne.
Meta-Achievement Mechanic (required for 25-man only)
To obtain the
Neck-Deep in Vile
achievements, raid groups must "kill every Vile Spirit that spawns before it explodes and then defeat the Lich King."
The best technique for this is to have all dps players create a macro and place it on their fight bar. The macro should be:
/tar Vile Spirit
/cast *insert attack*
This will allow players to quickly shift their focus to the
卑劣的灵魂
s that are summoned during phase 3 of the fight (40%-10%). Players should immediately focus damage on the
卑劣的灵魂
s to kill them before 30 seconds, when any remaining
卑劣的灵魂
s will cast
灵魂爆裂
and explode, dealing some damage and causing a group to fail the achievement.

very thorough guide! i really love the formatting that you used as well.
the neck deep in vile achievement seems to trigger off the damage they do when they touch a player rather than if they are actually killed. it's possible with a decently geared group of 85s to bring LK down before any of the vile spirits actually spawn and achievement credit will still be awarded to everyone.

If you have an excess of DPS - a group predominantly consisting of level 90s, for instance - it is possible to still be eligible for/complete Neck Deep In Vile by beating up the Lich King to the point where he one-shots the group.
A group I was in were working on this achievement where we did this accidentally, causing the Vile Spirits to remain idle in mid-air. Rather than explode, they simply died on their own while Tirion, Terenas and the Lich King were talking among themselves.
Understandably, we were a little confused as to whether we were still eligible for the achievement, but we pressed on regardless and ended up getting NDiV anyway. Win-win. :D

He was mind controlled and I killed him, then killed boss.

How fast does Necrotic Plague stack if you're soloing? Will it be tricky to get "Been Waiting a Long Time for This (25 player)" and "Meta 25: Neck-Deep in Vile (25 player)" in the same run?
705 geared DK, blood or frost.

This is a very lovely guide. However I have a question for the last achievement, "Been Waiting A Long Time For This".
As soloing this raid on 25 man heroic with a lvl 100 protection paladin, would I need the aid of another to help me with the plague or could I use the mobs to my advantage?
Such as aggroing lichy, allowing him to spawn his mobs, avoid the shadow trap, kite him a small bit, obtain plague, kite a small bit more, transfer plague to a minion, eliminate plagued target, collect plague or have it transfer it to another mob, and continue this process until I have collected the needed amount of plague before beating up the lich king?
Any information that could be offered would be greatly appreciated.
