Hallow's End has its first Shadowlands edition. Loot and required levels for various activities has changed, including 塞满战利品的南瓜 which is awarded to players level 50 and higher.

Acquiring Tricky Treats奶糖

You can acquire 4-6 奶糖 inside 塞满战利品的南瓜, which can be run daily. Averaging 5 奶糖 in the bag, you can get ~75 with 15 days.

You can complete several daily quests, listed below, for ~17 奶糖 daily or 255 with 15 days at max level. There are 10 more 奶糖 you can get from one-time quests.

You can acquire 0-3 奶糖 inside 一把糖果 which is a reward from every single Candy Bucket. The Alliance has 131 Candy Buckets and the Horde has slightly more, so assuming 2 奶糖, you will get around 258 奶糖 from looting all the buckets (or +100 more if you get lucky and have 3 in each). The maximum amount of 奶糖 you can get is 393 as Alliance.

New to 2015, you can convert spare 恐怖补给品 into 奶糖. You can covert 5 恐怖补给品 daily per character, and 恐怖补给品 are Bind on Account so you can send them to the character that needs the Tricky Treats.

Simply aid in extinguishing all of the fires the Shade has started, then speak to the Matron. This is a daily quest.

For this achievement, you must use a 沉重的南瓜灯 on at least one of every Alliance and Horde race. The Jack-o'-Lanterns can be looted from the 无头骑士 or received in the 稀烂的南瓜 available after defeating the Headless Horseman in one of the low level villages as detailed above in the Quests section. They are also rewarded from the related daily quest.

侏儒美味营养糖之怒
Earn 10 honorable kills while under the influence of the 侏儒美味营养糖 buff. It's a slap in the face!
For this achievement, earn 10 honorable kills (total) while buffed by the Hallow's End candy 侏儒美味营养糖. The candy used to offer just a small dodge buff so the achievement is really just a silly pun.

It is contained in 一把糖果 and can also be bought for if you are unlucky.

狼吞虎咽
Eat so many Tricky Treats that you get an upset tummy.
奶糖 offer a small speed boost in addition to eventually giving you an 腹痛. They are the new currency for Hallow's End and are rewards for completing all quests. The amount needed to make you sick is random--generally you'll need less than 5.

糟糕的万圣节
Ruin Hallow's End for the Horde and foil their attempts to wreck the Alliance celebration by completing the following quests.
Complete the seasonal quests 臭气弹轰炸！, 暴风城大扫除, 收获的时刻, and 败其兴致.

Show off your sparkling smile by using a Tooth Pick.
Use a 牙签, which costs .

化妆舞会
Get transformed by the Hallowed Wands listed below.
For this achievement, you must be transformed by each specific costume Hallowed Wand. The 'Random' wand will not count towards the achievement. It is best to trade costumes with other players who have the ones you want. Wands can be purchased for , for a total of if you want to buy all seven wands.

So far the achievement tooltip does not count the 5 additional wands added in 2014.

万圣节的救星
Complete one of the quests to save a village from the Headless Horseman.
For this achievement, you must complete one of the quests to save a burning village from the 无头骑士之影--either “放火过来吧！” or 赶快灭火！.

不给糖果就捣乱！
Receive a handful of a candy from one of the Candy Buckets located in an inn.
For this achievement, all you have to do is visit a single Candy Bucket located within any friendly inn and loot a handful of candy.

艾泽拉斯的糖果
Complete the Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms and Outland Tricks and Treats achievements.
For this achievement, you must complete each of the three following achievements, essentially having visited every possible Candy Bucket on three continents. Later achievements for visiting Candy Buckets on new continents have not been added to this meta achievement.

For the Alliance, it is in the graveyard on top of a tombstone with a shield and sword beneath it, and for the Horde, he is at 70.7 90.2 on top of a stone with part of the Horde logo carved into it. Simply click on Pepe and loot 迷你稻草人装束. When the item is used, you have a chance in the future to summon Pepe dressed as a scarecrow.

Has anyone calculated the total number of possible 奶糖 per Hallow's End? Just wondering if it was possible to get all of the achievements for 神圣之名 and most of the pets/mounts within one Hallow's End even if you don't get lucky with Headless Horseman kills.

I love this time a year. The Headless Horseman will always be my favorite boss to fight. But why did they have to use the old Scarlet Monastery? They could have used the new one. I think it would have looked alot better with all the fires and such.

EDIT: He now uses the new SM graveyard. So that makes it a whole lot better!

Any reason why the level requirement was increased to 89 for this boss ? last year it was only 87. I leveled a bunch of alts to 87 not knowing it changed so I'm not happy. Just wondering why the change.

This guide should be updated for 2014, with details on the new items as well as an additional section describing how many Tricky Treats you need for everything and how many you can get per activity. We'll update when we know more details about the Arthas disguise and pug costumes too.

Edit: Chinese servers have the Arthas costume for 1k treats, which doesn't seem possible with how many treats you can get in 2013. If there's a significantly higher amount of treats dropping in 2014, let us know so we can redo the math.

For people needing the candy bucket in Blasted lands, there is a npc on the border of swamp of sorrows and blasted lands called Zidormi (a keeper of time) (coods 48,7 - ty Nevermoor), which will let you travel back in time to quest/trick or treath, she is atop a small hill next to the the bigger and rightmost dead tree, and that if you can't see her, try dismounting and/or removing any appearance-change buffs (ty Sathorius), cheers ! (When you are done questing you can talk to Zidormi again to go back to the present time - ty Gabunga)

For Horde searching for the Candy Can in old Dreadmaul Hold, you will need to speak an envoy of the Bronze Dragonflight, located on the right hand side of the passageway leading from the Swamp of Sorrows into the Blasted Lands. (On hindsight, perhaps the candies there have expired...?) =)

For those that cant find the candy buckets in the blasted lands, go to the entrance of blasted lands, theirs an NPC on the cliff that will take you to the blasted lands that isn't invaded by the iron horde.

Considering that guards smash you like a bug now, if you are hostile with Goblin cities because of you being a fellow salty Bloodsail Admiral like meself, you're gonna have a hard time. I suggest using an Invisibility potion or belt, running up to them candies, and popping your hardest damage mitigation ability.

As a DK for example, I managed to stay alive for almost 10 seconds with 3 guards on me after switching to Blood spec, popping Bone Shield, Icebound Fortitude and Rune Tap at the same time.

One thing about the Pandarian bucket locations. This Achievement isn't necessary to complete Hallow's End but for the people willing to collect all the buckets: The bucket in Westwind Rest (and probably Eastwind Rest) doesn't spawn unless you do the prequest for this location. You get the quest in Binan (Alliance version and Horde version). It involves speaking to two Pandaren which will then lead to another simple quest. After a short cut scene the base and the bucket spawn.

This information might be interesting to faction changers and lvl 90 boosted players.

Already having a Sinister Squashling in your Pet Journal doesn't count towards the Sinister Calling achievement. You have to use the item, not a caged pet, to add one to your pet journal and get credit.

Why horde have 6 buckets on Pandaria and Alliance only 4? Same in Northrend and Kalimdor. Horde is EVER more beneficied for all. With the Wickerman's quest happens the same: if you are on a PvE server, you get marked as PvP to do it, and all the horde goes over you due the statue is INSIDE the horde city, but if you go to Stormwind as horde, you don't get marked due the statue is OUTSIDE Stormwind. All that is unfair... And 100k for the bike when horde gets it free, just 'cause there are more ppl on the horde to vote it. Brilliant Blizzard, brilliant...

So for those of you wondering how to get the candy buckets in blasted lands and theramore...there's an npc named zidormi that is located at the entrance to blasted lands and at the beginning of the looong bridge leading to theramore that will take you back/forth in time to the older version of the zone allowing you to access the inns...talk to her again and she can change it back

funny note - I changed blasted lands to old version...but didn't change it back...then ported to theramore and it had also changed back as well...BUT the map had not changed...so the crater was still there but all the npcs from old theramore were up at their invisible buildings....so the guys from the tower were floating in mid air as if they were in the tower...Jaina was perpetually falling off some invisible cliff every time she moved :P looked pretty damn funny

Anyone else feeling like their account is bugged or something?

I'm not seeing anything but masks, and usually just treats in my pumpkins.

I'm running HH on 12 separate 90s each day and in all that time I've only ever gotten the Sinister Slicer on a Paladin. That's it. No other items at all.

Whereas I see a lot of other people talking about having the Slicer and the Hood dropping over and over and over. Really, really makes me cry at my chances of getting the mount...

Many of the costumes that get put on you for an hour are morphs that don't affect activities - like the ghost, and the pirate. You can fly and fight and all with those. Some of them you can't do anything, like the wisp. Some you can auto-attack, but not cast spells, and not fly/mount - the geist, ghoul, spider, abomination.

But - at least as an abomination - you can take the Uncrashable from Light's Hope to Fuselight.

Just a side note, there are also 3 new pets from pet battles that become available IN your garrison when you buy the spiders decoration. this is the same decoration you need for the new toy as well.

Ok longish post coming up but it explains how you get the 3 new battle pets and 2 new toys from Hallow's End this year as you can not buy them with Tricky treats. (Please note this is for Alliance. The same process would be for the Horde but I do not know what the Horde Daily zone is nor where the Garrison holiday vendor is)

There has been a vendor in your Garrison in front of the fountain since 6.2 launched. Now that Hallow's End is here there is a new NPC next to her offering you 4 daily quests to give you Garrison Holiday Currency. These quests take place on a small section of the Shadowmoon Valley map.

1 of the toys drops from mobs in the new Dreanor Holiday zone where you do the Daily Quests.
Once you have done the daily quests you can return to your garrison and purchase some decorations. What you want to buy 1st is Creepy Crawlers.

Once you click on it in your bag to activate it, it will spawn "creepy crawlers" around the Garrison, these are the 3 new battle pets for this year. You can fight and these and capture them, they are ghostly, transparent and small but move around your garrison and you will find all 3 of them. They are level 25 and are back up by 2 other lvl 25's but they are easy.

In addition to the battle pets, a rare spawn will appear near your mine/herb garden in the form of a spider called Arachnis kill it for a chance of the 2nd toy. He keeps respawning so only need to buy the item once

One additional note is if you just want the pets and not the toy then you can visit someone else's Garrison who already activated the Creepy Crawlers decoration and capture the battle pets.

There is also a Wickerman and Bonfire for the buff to the left outside the garrison gates.

For all those doing the event with multipul Alts, I have found a easy way to quickly earn completion in the two missions: Let the Fires Come! / Stop the Fires! & Smash the Pumpkin.

Step 1: Get all your alts to the inn closest to where the horseman spawns.
Step 2: Start Let the Fires Come! / Stop the Fires! with all your alts.
Step 3: Complete the mission with one alt. (Note: You may need to do this mission 1 or 2 more times for everyone.)
Step 4: When the horseman is taken down, then quickly cycle through your alts, to collect the pumpkin head.
Step 5: Turn in the missions.

I have found this to be a faster way to clear these missions, though you may need to do Let the Fires Come! / Stop the Fires again, if you do not turn in the missions on all your alts before the pumpkin vanish's. Other wise, this gets things done up all the quicker, leaving more time for the rest of hollow's end.

I'm just starting to do Hallow's End on my first Alliance toon, and I was wondering what the best way to get from Stormwind to Undercity was? For Horde, there's a zep to Grom'gal, and then a short flight up to SW to extinguish the wickerman. But for allies, it seems like the closest port to UC is freaking Ironforge and that's half the continent. Please tell me there's a closer way.

It would be good to add that the Pumpkin Bag will also drop during this event from level 50-86 mobs to this guide.

It is a world drop, so it can drop from anywhere where you would encounter these level mobs. (Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Outlands, Northrend and even instances/raids)

In 2015, the hour-long costumes you can turn off by removing the buff now allow you to mount. If the animation is missing, they go away while you are mounted, but you retain the buff, and the costume resumes when you dismount.

The minor ones like cat and frog that are intended to prevent you from doing anything for a short while still nerf you, though. A word of caution; I tried aggroing a mob so that the damage would remove the cat costume; it didn't. I couldn't cast, I could only take the mob's attacks or run. I was way above the mob's level, so it didn't matter, but I imagine this could get interesting at neutral buckets on PvP servers.

More on Hallow's End Battle Pets

The decoration kit 恐怖爬行者 costs 5 恐怖补给品 (pumpkin icon) from the vendor in your garrison near the fountain.

As soon as you activate the kit you'll see the green battle pet icons all over your garrison. So you can pet battle in the garrison for a change whenever the decoration kit is toggled on.
The spectral pet is always the first enemy pet and is an Undead.
The other pets in the enemy team will be a Beast (like 蜘蛛), Aquatic (like 鬼壳蟹) or Flying (like皇家飞蛾). Put together a team accordingly. Take care not to kill the spectral pet when you want to capture it.
New spectral pets seem to respawn quickly in the same spot.

I have been trying to figure out if they are raising the level requirements for the dungeon this year with the new patch bringing characters to level 110 now. I know that this site has not stated any new level requirements and battle.net has no information on the topic, people are guessing right now that you will have to be 110 to do the dungeons. I was just wondering if that was true or not. I personally don't have a character that is 110 yet a couple hundreds but none other than that. I would believe that it would be 110 but the expansion has barely been out for even two months, would that be fair to all players? not every person is going to want to grind like crazy to get to 110 and get better gear for the dungeon if they bump up the level in such a short amount of time. I hope they don't bump it up honestly it would be nice to finally get an edge towards getting that darn mount that keeps eluding a lot of players. In the end if I have to be 110 I will grind for it, just wondering what others were thinking about this, it has been bugging me for a while now.

In one place, it says that the ring drops from HH have been raised to 835, but when you mouse over the items later, when they are listed, it shows 810. Would that be that they are regularly 810, and then can possibly be randomly upgraded to 835?

So I have run this on 3 characters now, and the only loot I have received is the 塞满战利品的南瓜 yet I have seen 1 person in each dungeon receive an item, and there was no window for need/greed. How is the loot system working with this holiday dungeon this year?

I was able to queue for Headless Horseman at 109. I didn't check any levels earlier than that but can confirm its possible to do before level 110.

Putting out the fires quest doesn't give a tricky treat anymore. By my count that would allow you 11-12 tricky treats a day for sub 100 players. Does that sound right? Asking because I am tight on treats to get the heirloom armor casing and trying to do estimate.

无头骑士的邪恶切割者 is ilv 835. I just ran this one time at lv 109 and it is 835 in the game. Not sure how useful that is considering we have artifacts, but does help overall ilv if you need it. You have that item number as 600 still, but it has been upgraded.

You can't get the mount with low level toons only level 100 and higher can get the mount lower level toons only get a blue pumpkin reward.

I wish the Hallowed Wands and candies had even a single copper sell price so I could get rid of them faster. My bags are stuffed with them after doing all the Candy Buckets and you need to confirm you want to delete all of them one at a time.

A word of advice for anyone aiming at farming the Tricky treats, there's a very useful addon called Candy Buckets at Curse, that works just like the well known Handy notes, that puts icons on all maps where you can get them, even if you show whole continents like Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms, Pandaria, and the like.
Use it with Tom tom so you don't have to open the map every time, only after you get to each Bucket.

This is mostly useful for all those out there with tons of alts, instead of running each daily, plus the dungeon (unless you didn't drop the mount yet), just click all Buckets on days you have time for it, and you'll get a ton of treats to buy pretty much everything, some stuff more than once, like the must-have pet 无间妖灵, well know for the fastest fight with 斯奎特 at the Draenor Garrison, when power-leveling Battle pets (even more when she shows up on Battle pet week events). It can be caged, and sold on the AH too, at high prices currently, a good way when/if you level new toons on new servers, and want some gold on them.

This apparently has not been posted to Wowhead yet, but there's are additional Candy Buckets in Legions (Broken Shore).

The Legerdemain Lounge and A Hero's Welcome (and assuming one in the Sunreaver's Sanctuary section as well) of the "new" Dalaran. These mimic the locations of those in Northrend's Dalaran, but are an additional 2 Candy Buckets for each faction. I did run through Northrend's buckets before going to Broken Shore to make sure these are additional ones.

The best addon that I've found for this event is Daily Global Check, along with its plugin Daily Global Check_Hallow's End. It shows whether you've completed the dailies and dungeon each day, and it also shows all of the locations of all of the candy buckets in addition to showing whether you've completed them or not as well. It's really easy to use.

Additionally, the developers said in 2017 that they changed the possibility of getting The Horseman's Reins for the mount to be in "current content," so it was level 98 and above. That would mean that they might change it to a minimum level of 110 this year in 2018, due to BfA launching. I've tweeted them and will edit with their answer if I can and they give one.

This guide is comprehensive; however, if I may make a suggestion: please add a note in the Headless Horseman section making it clear that while you can queue for the him at level 23 you do not get the 塞满战利品的南瓜 that can contain the mount until level 100. I feel like the guide is sorely missing the info that after the events of The Battle for Lordaeron, you need to talk to Zidormi in Tirisfal Glades in order to access the main hub of Hallow's End (The courtyard of Lordaeron) and Brill, where you can quench the Horseman's flames.

Actually, the amount of tricky treat required for the meta achievement can be reduced by 150.
You can buy the pumpkin helm and sell it back to vendor. This counts as owning the helm (and contributes to the achievement) and saving 150 treats.
Do note that this method causes you to unable to get the helm appearance (since you've sell the helm back to vendor.)

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but you have to speak to Zidormi in Arathi and revert back to old map to get the Hammerfall bucket (probably also applies to Refuge Point as well).

CANDY BUCKET : To add to the comments about candy buckets not being found or not easily available - the candy buckets in Darnassus - if you don't have the flight path or unable to get to island - there is also an NPC by the flight Master to the right of where the Darnassus Portal drops you off at (on the Rock before the ocean) - near the FM there is the NPS ask to be shown previous appearance of Darnassus and then you will have the flight path for the Village on Darnassus available.

I wonder when are they gonna bring Hallow's End and Pilgrim's Bounty into the present day, since the Horde version is still being held in Ruins Of Lordaeron, despite it in the present day being uninhabitable. And the fact that the former would still have you celebrating Sylvanas despite her recent betrayal of the Horde.

Currently, in the Azuremyst realm, none of the quest events or NPCs are visible in Stormwind or Goldshire (other than the breadcrumb quest commoner in SW). This is if you have War Mode off. Everything appears when you turn WM on.

I just learned (after much frustration) that the Hallow's Eve vendors outside of Stomwind can only be seen if you are in Warmode (something I never do). Is this a bug or a feature? Either way, you'd think they'd mention it in this guide, or at least in the news article when the holiday began. I can't be the only one who was confused and lost.

Garrison quests require level 100 and a level 3 Garrison.

Your garrison needs to be level 3 for Orukan (the daily quest giver) and the garrison candy bucket to appear for you. You also need to be at least level 100, according to other comments I've seen.

Also, you cannot use someone else's garrison. You can see her and the candy bucket in other people's level 3 garrisons, but you won't be able to interact with them, even if you have them unlocked in your own garrison. Other comments I've seen have made it sound like you can, but I just tested with two 109+ toons with level 3 garrisons and it does not work.

I was unsatisfied with the clarity of the instructions on the Alemental Costume others have posted, so I am adding my own.

Hallow's End is arguably one of the most important holidays to do on every toon.

You can only set up a toon with access to the Alemental costume once per year, during Hallow's End. Once you set it up, its available year-round.

神秘啤酒

How to get the Alemental costume:

1. Be at least level 100.
2. Get a level 3 WoD garrison on the toon.
3. The Hallow's End holiday must be active. (October).
4. Talk to Orukan in your level 3 garrison and grab the dailies. 奥鲁坎
5. Complete the dailies to earn 5x Spooky Supplies
6. Talk to vendor Izzy Hollyfizzle in your level 3 garrison 伊兹·冬沫
7. Buy the Witch's Brew (garrison decoration) for 5x Spooky Supplies. 女巫的啤酒
8. Right-click on the Witch's Brew to apply it to your level 3 garrison.
9. Brew-Witch Shadowpaw will spawn in your level 3 garrison. 啤酒女巫影掌 She is at 47,54 in the Horde garrison and 43,46 in the Alliance garrison.
10. Next to Shadowpaw is a cauldron of brew.

Now the rules get strange.

11. If you hover your cursor over the cauldron, your cursor will turn into a gear. Click it and you will get an item called Mysterious Brew. This Brew is like the Hallowed Wands. You can use it to change anyone into an Alemental for 5 minutes. It can be yourself, a party or raid member, someone of your faction that you are not grouped with at all. It cannot be used on NPCs. The Brew has 5 charges and is unique. You cannot carry more than 1. The cauldron is only clickable if you were not carrying a brew when you entered your garrison zone and have not used it in your current visit yet. If the cauldron is not clickable, make sure you delete the brew from your bags, then do a quick zone out / zone in of your garrison and the cauldron will be clickable again.

The garrison decorations can be put on display year-round. So once you add this decoration to your garrison, you can use it 365 days of the year. You can only unlock it during Hallow's End, and it must be unlocked on every toon you have. It is not account-wide.

Need to update this, there is no longer a candy bucket in the vale of eternal blossoms area, also, the alliance town in kun lai summit can't be accessed unless a certain quest is completed i imagine since the town is on fire with nothing accessible

The Westwind Rest (Alliance) / Eastwind (Horde) in Kun-Lai Summit needs a quest unlock (a few in Binan) so if just flying around, budgeting on an average of two 奶糖 per location, as we do, then discount this one unless you have quested here.

New in 2021 is an Ember Court event "Theotar's Spooky Summons". Speak to Theotar to summon a 德纳修斯大帝的幻象 who will wander around casting 德纳修斯大帝的惊喜！ at your guests. When the court completes the NPC will give you 德纳修斯大帝的幻象. I'm not sure if there are any prerequisites for him to offer you the item -- I did exercise all the available dialog options to Theotar to dismiss and then re-summon the Vision, and I also asked the Vision to stop scaring and then continue scaring the guests.

Hallow's End takes place after the level and item level squish. Loot and required levels for various activities has changed, including Loot-Filled Pumpkin which is awarded to players level 45 and higher.

On my level 47 toons, I only got the green version of the Loot-filled pumpkin and XP - so I am not sure if this is correct?

If you already have the Headless Horseman's Mount, the dungeon event drops ilvl 184 gear (max level)

COMPLETELY FRICKEN USELESS AGAIN. you can buy better get on the action house for real cheap.

Thanks for another worthless holiday event.

On top of that, I did it on my 55 druid and it dropped a ilvl 117 sword. Druids can't use swords.

If the 无头骑士 never drops the 无头骑士的缰绳, have a look at a flying red spirit horse introduced in Shadowlands - 布兰契的缰绳. This isn't the same model as the 无头骑士的缰绳, but it's outstanding, a flying horse for those looking for one and suitably spooky for Hallow's End.

Collect 6 items 死掉的布兰契 needs. One item is found in Westfall, one in Ardeanweald and the others in Revendreth. See the great comment by
by varenne.

Provide one item per day, as prompted. There is no "quest" to obtain. Just show up in the Endmire in Revendreth near a dead tree by the stream with quest items (Coords 63.1, 43.1). The same item is required on the same weekday. The days you show up don’t have to be consecutive.
Spam times are random so wait by the river. (You can look for groups in the custom group finder.)

This quest is open to members of all covenants.

For Shadowlands, I found this to be the most efficient route for Alliance (for all daily quests that reward 奶糖):

Take the portal from Stormwind to Exodar. Take the flightpoint to Azure Watch.
Complete “放火过来吧！”. It's easy to solo here. Just one building is on fire, close to the bucket. Then fight Shade of the Horseman and complete 击碎南瓜.
Take the flightpath back to Exodar, then take the portal to Stormwind (near the stairs to the Vault of Lights). Or just hearth if it's off cooldown and go back to Stormwind.
Grab all dailies outside the Stormwind gates. Complete 收获的时刻.
Speak with Gretchen Fenlow to start 臭气弹轰炸！. She will take you to Undercity on a broom. Drop all the stink bombs, then LOG OUT OF THE GAME while still flying on the broom (instead of returning to Stormwind). Log back in, then fly over to complete 败其兴致 (speak to Zidormi if you are in the wrong phase).
Hearth to Dalaran (using Dalaran hearthstone from Legion). Take the flightpath to Bradensbrook, Val'sharah (or go through your Class Hall). Complete 扭曲之树.
Use Cloak of Coordination to get back to Stormwind, complete 暴风城大扫除 and turn in quests!

To be more specific about the Genn/Sylvanas buff timing: the event is announced roughly on the hour at 4, 8, and 12 o'clock, Pacific Time (on North American servers) regardless of server time. It may be off by a few minutes. The actual event happens 10 minutes later. During that 10 minutes there's no NPCs or change to the area to indicate the event is upcoming, just the initial yell. The event takes less than 2 minutes and the buff is given at the end, but I'd aim to be there early.

As others have noted, you can't get the buff if you have any elixir effects on you, so clear them beforehand. However, my level 53 character didn't get it despite clearing buffs first - the only thing I can think is it was because I had XP turned off? Others around me got it just fine.

Another side note: the event is voiced, but the volume is distance based and pretty limited. Standing on the circular base of a broken monument in the middle of the Undercity courtyard, I could barely hear Sylvanas. Moved a few yards closer and she was normal volume, but still no louder than the Headless Horseman yelling all the way from Brill...

Some observations and thoughts about "the world tour" getting all the candy buckets. Not trying to give a comprehensive guide, just a few thoughts and observations that might be useful. Remembering your general tips and tricks that apply to any travel around the worlds, and plotting a specific route, is up to you.

Big picture:

This takes hours and hours. Recommend you don't try to do 5 characters in one day like I did, which is a do-nothing-else-all-day-and-probably-stay-up-all-night activity.
I hoped to on get over 300 奶糖s on the full tour. I don't like the "drop stink bombs" daily (click 25 times with a long delay, boooring), traveling every day for 大肆破坏, or the travel or group coordination needed for 扭曲之树. Doing the other dailies, single shot quest and the world tour totaled over 450, which is enough for 3 toys or 1 high tier heirloom upgrade. However, saving the world tour for the last day is risky - the amount is random from 2-4 for each bucket, so you could hit below average and end up missing your target! I did fine, and the law of averages is pretty effective when the sample size is over 100, but it's safest to do the world tour early in the holiday so you can adjust your dailies strategy to compensate for bad luck.
If you aren't using anything else like an addon to track progress, the normal achievement tracker is decent at reminding you what you've already done on a character, IF it's the first season that you've done Candy Buckets on that character. If not, doing an entire continent at a time makes it much easier to remember, compared to remembering individual buckets or route segments.
Wowhead's maps are okay for getting a general sense of the routes you might take, but some pins are a bit off, so make sure to look at the ingame map to fine-tune if you aren't using other route addons.
This is without any semblance of measurement and could be way off, but my rough estimate of highest to lowest density of buckets is: Cataclysm zones, EK, Kalimdor, Pandaria, Northrend, Outland.
Strategically rebinding and using your 炉石 to jump back to different points along your route allows you to follow "branching" paths. An example: Alliance characters come from the north through the single Ashenvale 糖罐, set their hearth point at Windshear Hold (Stonetalon). Go south hitting buckets as far as Feathermoon Stronghold, then hearth back to the Hold and go southeast hitting buckets over to the east side of the continent. Saves the trouble of getting back to that part of a continent from the main portals, and lets you stick to more direct lines of travel.

Little stuff:

As with every activity during this holiday, get yourself a 魔法扫帚! You'll have to re-mount at every bucket after all.
Vashj'ir requires doing the intro sequence before you can portal to it so it may not be worth bothering with. If you do it, don't forget your 瓦丝琪尔海马 is account-wide! Or, if you might forget where the entrance is to any of the caves, you may prefer to use the "flight" point to get there, if you have it.
If you get "tricked" into a cursed form, you can't mount or use your 炉石 for 42 seconds. But you can go through portals, talk to innkeepers, (oddly) use your 达拉然炉石, and most importantly take flight paths. (At least, this was all true as a cat, I assume the others too.) Oh yeah, and you can eat some of that delicious candy you'll be piling up.
You can use a macro to Complete Quest on the candy buckets, and to open the 一把糖果, which are unique and block quest completion if not opened. It doesn't sound like much to save a few clicks...but try doing 700 of them in a row.
If you're high level, you could turn off Trivial Quest tracking to spot the non-trivial candy quests. If you love trivial tracking or are low level, track innkeepers who are nearly always immediately next to the candy buckets; you will come to recognize the combination of the two nearly-overlapping icons in the minimap upon arrival at any town.

Weird buckets:

In Outland, the Shattrath and east Shadowmoon buckets are Aldor/Scryer pairs. If you're affiliated you have to use the matching one. If you're unaffiliated you can choose either option within each pair (even doing one Aldor and one Scryers, if you like), but you can only do one of the buckets in each pair - once one is chosen, the other stops offering the quest.
Aside from the main continents, don't forget the Deepholm bucket, the two buckets in Legion's Dalaran, the one in your level 3 WoD garrison if you have one, and the one in your BfA faction hub.
Dragonmaw Port (horde) is missing from the Cataclysm achievement, because it's phased out until you complete the intro to Twilight Highlands and put the settlement under 扎伊拉's leadership.
Eastwind Rest (horde) is phased out/on fire if you haven't done the quest for it. It still is required for the Pandaria achievement.
Grookin Hill (horde) IS available even if you haven't done the questline to befriend the Hozen. However, the building with the bucket has some big Hozen right next to and inside it, which will likely need killin'. Since this is normally a Horde settlement, this will PVP flag you and alert LocalDefense, even though they're aligned as Horde just like you! Also, the level 35 Elite guards seemed more resilient than they should be vs my level 47 orc, perhaps because of the PVP thing, so make sure you're not too low level. (You can do the bucket quest while in combat, so if you can survive you can always run away after.)
Stonetalon Peak (alliance) IS available even though it'll be surrounded by tentacles and whatnot. I can't remember if you can clear those out with a quest or if that's some weird holdover from pre-Cata bucket placement.
Deepmist Grotto (both) IS available even if you haven't done the questline. A lonely little bucket in an empty cave.

It covers every known Candy Bucket, including some which aren't part of an achievement. The coordinates are also much more accurate than those found in lists here at Wowhead.
