What is the Twisting Corridors?

Twisting Corridors, like the normal Torghast wings, have their difficulty measured in layers. However, unlike normal Torghast runs, each layer of Twisting Corridors has 18 Floors! This alone means enemies and bosses will scale even further in difficulty, but also gives you more opportunities for Anima Powers.

There are no rewards that increase player power in Twisting Corridors. There are, however, achievements for completing each Twisting Corridors layer, as well as cosmetic rewards for reaching specific layer thresholds.

It should be noted that most cooldowns are refreshed when you move between floors. This includes heroism (as well as the heroism 10-minute debuff), and other powerful abilities that your class/spec have. Knowing this can help one to burn through the floor bosses more effectively.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFO!: If you complete layer 1 (for example) on one of your toons and decide that you want to try on a different toon/class, you can work on layer 2 on that different toon/class. ~~While I don't think the other wing layer unlocks are account-wide, Twisting Corridors is.~~

Are "checkpoints" a thing or are you expected to be prepared to run the full 18 floor layer?

Something to be wary of in Twisting Corridors is the Item which turns a non-elite target into an anima cell. 贪婪的心能单元

This item is sometimes used on the brokers during regular Torghast runs with no repercussions. In Twisting Corridors however, it should be noted that the vendors WILL NOT RESPAWN. This means that if you use the item on a broker to gain additional phantasma, you will no longer be able to purchase anything from that broker for the duration of your run. I would highly suggest not using 贪婪的心能单元 on the brokers, as being unable to purchase their Plundered Anima Cells and other miscellaneous Anima Powers can be detrimental to say the least.

It seems that layer 2 of corridors is bugged atm and it teleports you out of the dungeon after a few seconds when you enter

Made it to level floor 17. When I zoned in I everything was black, I could tab target, but did not know where they were standing. I followed my group with mini map until we got wiped with no lives left. buggggged

I am sorry but why the &*!@ does my friend have to wait 2 weeks for Twisting corridors just cuz he started playing late .... do they want him to play the game or not? Why does he get punished for starting later while he can catch up fine with renown wtf

I seem to not be able to pick up more bolvar quests (which was said to have the weekly lockout removed from it.) Anyone else not able to continue the questline for Bolvar to be able to unlock TC?

I'm a little bit disappointed that there is no reward for completing layers 1, 3, 5 & 7. For something that can easily take 2+ hours, it's a huge time commitment for minimal reward. Adding something like a little Anima, Soul Ash, or even gear scaling by layer would be better than getting nothing at the end of a really long run.

Right now If somebody doesn't want to earn the pets, toys, or mounts and just wants to finish the questline, they just have to finish floors 3-6, exit then re-enter. There's no incentive for somebody to finish the 1st layer besides unlocking the 2nd layer.

This feels very unrewarding, at the moment wasting 2-3 hours (per layer) for companion, toy, title or mount? I'm sorry but expeditions were much more rewarding.

Not gonna try this again until they fix this. If you don't get the right anima powers you have no chance of winning. I had hardly any health upgrades for example and got a boss with 3.5 million health. I had 40k and my voidwalker 70k. That is merely one of the many problems of this instance. But in short this instance can be a waste of 2 h or a breeze depending on RNG. Got the boss down to 200k before I died again and again despite good tacts and 89 powers.

For the achievements, if you did only layer 8 do you get the lower layer ones as well?

This is literally the most unfun thing they have ever added to the game. The scaling is completely off, I've done all layer 8's the entire xpac as havoc DH solo with ZERO deaths. Twisting corridors layer 1 floor 18 is literally impossible. The boss oneshots from 40k health to 0k, even with perfect interrupts and stuns. And guess what? That promise of soulash not getting locked behind twisting corridors? ACTUAL BS, soulash quest for twisting corridors can't be completed! Blow me blizzard

There are way too much rng for powers!

Example:
There's a warlock power that gives 100% damage and hp to summoned demon, immediately and every time you go up one floor. Got this fairly early on L1-L4, in addition to +50 hp and +50 dmg powers. On one of these layers, my voidwalker had over 2.3 million hp at 18th floor, and the increased damage made him rip through elites on the last floors like they were paper.

On L5 it's a different story:
On my 4 attempts so far, I've been VERY unlucky with powers. Nothing for my voidwalker, and the only hp powers I've seen, is +15% sold by vendor. Having vw at around 25-30k hp and myself at 35-40k against pairs of 500k+ elites on floor 13 and up, means constantly healing my vw and using Drain Life just to stay alive. Of course it takes an eternity to kill them. And some of them rips through both of us + infernal in seconds.

Gonna try again and see if I'm luckier today.

I find sometimes that my anima powers are being replaced. I just picked up Shadowblade's Legacy, and at the same time lost my anima power that increased combo point generators by 150% damage after a finishing move (Couldn't remember what it was called). This is not the first time it's happened and the new power I got was definitely NOT worth what I lost. Not a trade I'd make on purpose.
Unless there is a hard limit? I'm at 13 powers on floor 2, twisting corridors layer 7.

I soloed the whole of Layer 1-7 as an Elemental Shaman. How you ask? 1min cd Earth Elemental, and all the health increases I could find.

But it started to get difficult alone with 6 and 7. And with a failed run ending at the final boss of layer 8, being Binder Baritas and the fact that I had a slow on me from an anima power. It was impossible to complete. So I finally swallowed my pride and joined a group that blew through layer 8 in half the time of soloing. Though it got dicey at one point that blew up people and they ran back to get blown up again. Resulting in 7 lives lost. But with more lives from the broker, we bade it to the final boss, and had 1 life left when we finished it. The hunter had a bad power that increased his damage, but lowered his hp.

I was in there yesterday for over 4 hrs soloing ( i managed to watch 3 movies whilst going through this place) only managed to get to floor 16 of level 1 ( and i was bored as crap!)before i lost all my lives to the elite at the portal and couldn't get to the last clue, so i do hope there are checkpoints .. i do not want to have to redo that again to come out with Nothing! 18 floors is to many per Level, (and Six is not enough.. perhaps 10 will be a balance) i cant finish the story quest if there is no check point. total waste of time!

When i zoned into twisting corridors level 1, solo, for the first time on my prot pally (190 ilvl) i didnt know it was 18 floors long, or just how much it was going to scale towards the end.
I managed to pick up some powerful anima powers that carried me through though and kept on smashing until i got to the final boss.
Gotta say, even though i was able to complete it solo, it definitely seems much more tuned towards groups, at least 2-3 people.
I feel like solo dps might struggle a lot at later stages in the run.
Now that i know that i guess i wont bother going in solo for higher levels.
Just find a group who are committed to going til the end and probably bring at least a tank, healer and dps.

The Twisting Corridors unlock is account-wide, which means completing the questline and unlocking Twisting Corridors once will unlock it for all characters in your account.

They remove SOME gating but NOT ALL.

There are still parts where you can only accept the next quest in another weekly reset, such as after saving Jaina.

Man....nothing sucks more than having to do twisting corridors (for no loot during the run) only to die to the final boss at level 18...such a bummer and discouraging from having to do that all again.

On a side note....and as a bonus, got to level 14 last night and blizzard shutdown the server!

Blizzard you can eat a plate of balls! :(

sooooo...... what was the point to the twisting corridors.... doing 144 floors to get a mount that was ridable in the maw.... the big accomplishment.... when in 9.1 everyone's gonna be able to ride... who cares about bragging rights, it just devalues the whole effort and rewards... a big woop we got to ride in the maw a couple of months prior....

really doesn't encourage me to push this in 9.1 whenever they add content to it.

the whole point was the uniquenesss of the rewards for the effort. as was the mage tower, yet that remained unique.

twisting was a big fail.

173 ilvl blood DK soloed layer 1 today. That was exhausting. I definitely need to gear up before the next layer. I also need to not do Torghast AT ALL for several days, you know?

Wanna a great spec that has better time in TC? Venthyr Arms Warrior, with the signet legendary.

I've played Torghast on Hunter (MM and SV), DK (UH), Mage (Fire), Rogue (Outlaw), War (Arms) and Druids (Balance and Guardian), and BELIEVE me when I say that in terms of 'Defensive', 'Damage', 'greater Anima power scope' and 'FASTER RUNS', Arms wins. And you can hop in solo too.

Their 'bad' powers are so few, that you can earn most of their AMAZING powers from the start, or, as I like to call, the 'First 3rd' of the TC runs (1st 3rd = floors 1-6, 2nd 3rd floors 7-12 and so on).
Those anima powers buffing your Die By the Sword Defensive make you feel like a tank, parrying so many attacks that on upper floors you might even feel confident in Leaping into a room with 2-3 elites (some even with 1.5m life) and a small army of 'regular' mobs (with dozens/hundreds of HP themselves), and kill all. Not even some tanks might handle that.

Oh and my war was an alt, had 187 ilvl, no M+ done, just Heroic DGs (for callings), and raid only to drop the signet legendary recipe. The rest, table missions and WQ gear.

As a fury warrior, I have to ignore this "Item level recommendation" thing.

When you hoard enough soul blessing and get haste around %70 percent and plus, you'll be oneshotting everything.

You must have each of these animas in order to survive in any layers in any item levels:

- Soul Remnant Blessing : This is the pure damage increase soul by soul, grain by grain. In Torghast, when you are asked to save some of the covenant members and complete their short task: YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE OFFER OF SOULS from each of them not other options, nor RNG stat increase passives but this.
- Fan Of Longswords : This increases the function of your Rampage ability in which at the last hit, you will be casting Whirlwind.
- Ogundimu's Fist: Turns your Pummel interrupt ability into the old version of Siegebreaker which you knock the target back and stun it.
- Voracious Culling Blade: Makes your execute as a pure basic ability regardless of the enemy's health percentage. Or the permanent version of Sudden Doom. You need to land on 30 Execute/Condemn abilities to complete this anima power. Easier to complete as a Venthyr, harder for other covenants.
- Battlelord's Mythos: Allows you to pick up the Meat Cleaver talent which synergizes well with Fan Of Longswords and turns you into an AOE monster. Both increase in Whirlwind damage and 2 more stacks for single target abilities to cleave.
- Pridebreaker's Anvil : If you have completed the VCB and you have enough haste, this ability will be interrupting caster enemies and simply turning them into target dummies. Knocks the enemy down for 0.5 either as elite or normal.
- Unbound Fortitude: Each soul blessing you have increases the duration of Enraged Regeneration from 8 seconds to more than 4 or 5 minutes. I suggest you to pick that one as 2 pieces.
- Warlord's Resolve : Synergizes well with Unbound Fortitude which decreases your Enraged Regeneration to 20 seconds. Go figure a defense ability that has 20 seconds of cooldown and more than 4 or 5 minutes or even 8 minutes of uptime.
- Signet Of Tormented Kings: If this anima's legendary version had not been shaved, it could be the best legendary for fury warriors. When you cast Bladestorm (If you have chosen this skill at talent tree) or Recklessness, You get instantly have one of the three buffs : Recklessness, Bladestorm or Avatar. But when you cast Bladestorm, the buffs you get either Recklessness or Avatar. If you cast Recklessness, you'll get Avatar or Bladestorm. Similar with Arms warriors to get Recklessness as a bonus so Fury warriors get the Avatar.
- Zovaal's Warbanner: Increases the duration of Recklessness, Bladestorm and Avatar by %60 percent. If you have the Signet, you'll become the Anti-Matter bomb with each stacks of this anima power.

These are the crucial anima powers and you will have to get nearly most of them in order to survive.

To add up, go for full Haste and Mastery and if there is no better option, choose Versatility or Critical Strike.

As mentioned, each 6-floor section of a Twisting Corridors layer is based on one of the other wings.
If your first six floors turn out to be the Soulforges (which you will discover on the very first floor), run out and reset!
Why? Because the 7% ticking damage (at layer 5) will stay with you for the entire rest of the Twisting Corridors run!
I ran layer 5 with my strongest character and my friend's weak alt, and we started with Soulforges. We were ok, but constantly stressed by the extra ticking damage. Then we hit floor 13, and it was Mortregar. Floor 17 had huge clumps of unavoidable deadly mobs, including one at the top of a chain. We lost all 8 lives then and there, 3 hours of time lost, and not even the layer 5 achievement.
I think you can get the same wing twice, but if not, it might be lucky if you start with your toughest wing - in my Shaman's case, Mortregar. Then you won't have to worry about getting to it after two hours of play.
Another probably obvious tip - If you don't get several excellent powers early, it's best to start over.

Just cleared layer 8 as Blood DK (Night Fae) 200ilvl, solo. Using Superstrain legendary. Had no deaths but took me about 4 hours.

About my "targeted/main" Anima Powers (sorry i don't remember them by name):
- Had about 3 stacks of Death & Decay (Death's Due) anima that gives 10%haste and 10%damage reduction.
- 1 Anima that gives 100% Armor
- 3 stacks of Death Gate power that gives a horseman (3 x horseman) which is incredibly helpful as they have the same amount of life as you...and also taunt and occasionaly do a Anti-Magic Zone
- a couple of stacks of the Anima that reduces Mind Freeze cooldown if intrerupt is successful (got it on 6 seconds)
- also the anima that gives Icebound Fortitude for each successful intrerupt, which does help a ton.
- as well as the anima that summons a dragon that freezes all targets and does a good amount of damage in vecinity of the caster when Icebound Fortitude procs (it works as well for the Icebound Fortitude given by the intrerupt anima)
- a bunch of haste, versatility, critical and mastery animas... had about 50% crit, 60% haste, 60% mastery and 30% versatility by the end..
- Also the anima that gives damage reduction 20% and summon a ghoul on Deathgrip, together with the Deathgrip multiplier anima, and as well the anima that pulls you to the target and knocks it and the ones in vecinity down for 3 second (you just need to step back from add a bit, to be able to knock it down when you Deathgrip it)... thats a good combo that adds a few intrerupts, as well as some pets to the game, which help distract the boss and damage.
- the anima that allows you to have/gives all weapon runes from runeforge
- a couple of animas that give 15% damage increase on Ice Block (and also getting it applied on secondary/third/fourth/etc target) very usefull going through levels as well at the end boss.
-also had the anima that reduces Blade Dance cooldown, stacked up to an end cooldown of 20 seconds....that with ice-block anima its a ton of extra damage since most atacks are Physical....

These are the main ones i remember, the rest i filled mostly for single target optimisation (to help at the last boss) since up to the last boss, everything is doable in calculated pulls. But some animas are just useless in the last fight so if i happened to have single target options, even common, against epic ones that wouldn't help in the end, i chose the common ones.

Examples of animas i avoided:
- Anima that gives you shield if you collect phantasma... its pretty useless as you won't ever get too much of them to make a difference and then it is just a wasted choice...
- Animas that give speed
- Animas that allows you to see treasure through walls or the one that lets you see which target holds the Anima Cell useless as well, as you would need to clear everything anyway to get as much phantasma to buy everything that helps from shop.
- As i don't have much reputation with Ve'nari and couldn't upgrade stuff for Torghast runs, i also avoided Ravenous Anima Cell from shop as mostly gives me worse powers that i could instead buy from shop... Only bought the Anima Cells and whatever was good for my needs and just saved the last unspent phantasma for next shop.

P.S. In my own oppinion, each time you see a Life Increase Anima at the shop, buy it!... You never know how many/few will drop and every bit of extra life would help in the end if you miss an intrerupt or whatever...
As well as the Increase Damage by 30% untill the fight is over Potion.... buy it whenever you see it in shop and keep it for the last boss. BUT don't use it on first try, untill you are certain you won't die... To at least see how boss moves and what it does so you won't waste it.

Under "Twisting Corridors Rewards", it says "Twisting Corridors is considered to be a challenge mode to Torghast, and only awards Cosmetic rewards."

Later I see: "For clearing Layer 8, you will earn the Corridor Creeper mount."

If the part about the mount is true, then the author of this guide needs to reword what was said in "Twisting Corridors Rewards" as it is wrong.

It's a shame there is no update so far for Twisting Corridors with some more useful rewards.
It was frustrating sometimes, but as a warlock I managed to solo all 8 layers of it. Took me couple of hours/days, many times I got to last floor just to fail, because I didnt have the dps for the last boss..
But it felt good to at least be able to mount in the Maw.

Untill it didn't, when the next patch came and for some dumb reason, everyone and anyone could mount with any mount in the Maw.

So why would you Blizzard add a feature with only 1 reasonable reward, just to get rid of it and make it totally useless in the NEXT PATCH...

For me, Twisting corridors was a great challenge. And kinda fun. But the rewards are just bull*!@#....
I wouldn't be !@#$%ing about it if the mount would be at least kinda cool, but it's the least interesting and cool mount so far put in the Shadowlands.

Twisting corridors need and update, maybe add more layers for people like me, who already finished the 8th layer and are hoping for some actual good rewards.

The toy is bull!@#$, mount is just the worst and the title "Spirestalker" just doesn't sound really interesting to me...

Not worth doing the runs and as it seems, Blizzard actually agreed and left the whole Twisting Corridors project die.

Hello, I have a question; for some reasons, I cannot ascend, or clim to the third layer (level, not floor) of the Twisting Corridors, not alone/solo, not as a group leader with a friend and not with my friend being the group leader either. I did the questline and gear (itemlevel 448?) should not be a problem either... So why won't it let me/us enter the third layer? We can only do layer 2 (over and over again)... Please help, because when I made a ticket to Blizzard, they did not give me any useful response, except to check and ask here... *shrugs* thanks!

This is super-tedious to complete even though it's now 10.2.6 and my 460 iLvl character massively outgears it. Even if you want to run straight to the boss, you still have to spend far too long just getting there...and over eighteen floors that travel time certainly does mount up.

Speaking of 'mounting up', remember to use Ravenous Anima Cells to obtain mobility powers like the Mawrat Harness, the Maw Seeker Harness and the Glasswing Charm (see Rhinowarlord's excellent Sticky comment for details). Also, if you ever come across the anima power that gives you super-jumps, take that, too.

I've only completed Layer 2 so far. Will re-edit if I discover any more tips for completing this in Dragonflight and beyond.

EDIT: using a combination of Maw-Touched Miasma (purchased from Ve'nari) with a speed-boost food like Fried Bonefish really speeds things up, especially when there are lots of mawrats around.

EDIT: in combination with the above, whenever you get the chance, take the power that makes mawrats explode and you'll soon be zooming along.

EDIT: having finished all 8 layers, in my opinion it's worth spending the time farming 250+ phantasma on the first couple of floors so that you can buy a Ravenous Anima Cell and get a mount as soon as possible. Oh, and avoid starting your run with Coldheart Interstitia.
