Revisited Horrific Visions is a new, limited-time event, starting with Patch 11.1.5 of The War Within, based on the Horrific Visions world activity introduced in the Battle for Azeroth expansion. In The War Within, we will revisit Horrific Visions, with many new lucrative rewards, including new mounts, transmogs, and catch-up gear for alts!

Revisited Horrific Visions: What's New?
The revisited versions of Horrific Visions are similar to those you have experienced in Battle for Azeroth, but with new mechanics and rewards! Below, we have a list of new things to discover in Revisited Horrific Visions:
A new currency,

Rune Enchants - Corruptions Brought Back
A new version of Corruptions is one of the most awaited features in Revisited Horrific Visions. Corruption was a gearing system in Battle for Azeroth, which allowed for powerful gear effects, at the price of negative effects. Some of the Corruption effects are returning in the form of Helm Runes, which give reduced versions of the original BFA corruptions, but with none of the drawbacks!
Note: Rune enchants will be fleeting and only last through Season 2 of The War Within.
You can obtain these enchants after completing a series of quests that require looting currency from the end chests of Horrific Visions:

About Horrific Visions: What Are They?
Horrific Visions were a major gameplay feature during the Battle for Azeroth expansion. These visions are scenarios where players explore corrupted visions of Stormwind and Orgrimmar and complete objectives to disrupt the vision and prevent it from becoming a reality.
All players will explore the same Horrific Vision, either Orgrimmar or Stormwind, throughout the week. Each week, the Horrific Vision will change.
These scenarios can be attempted in groups of 1-5 players, and the enemies' health will scale accordingly.
Unlike the Battle for Azeroth version, which had limited entry due to requiring a limited quantity

, Revisited Visions of N'Zoth can be visited as many times as you want. It is still recommended to run them in groups, though, especially as you progress through the visions and wear more masks.
Faceless Masks in Horrific Visions
Faceless Masks are the Horrific Visions end-game system. These allow you to (by choice) make your Horrific Visions run more challenging but also more rewarding. Through exploring, you'll eventually obtain these masks and be able to activate them before runs, if you choose.
Masks can be activated and deactivated in the starting area of the vision, before starting it. Shrines that are glowing red indicate masks collected by a player in the party. There are a total of 8 Faceless Masks.
All 8 Faceless Masks share the following effect. If multiple masks are active, their effects are added together.
+25% Health of all enemies
+25% Damage of all enemies

Equipping all 8 Faceless Masks means mobs will have 200% extra Health and Damage, and you'll obtain a total of 140% extra Corrupted Mementos.
In addition to the above, each mask has a unique effect that adds difficulty to the Horrific Vision.

Recommended Revisited Horrific Vision Mask Progression
Although you will not obtain every single mask in this order, once you have access to all 8 masks, this is the recommended order we have for players looking to progress through the mask system. This is just a recommendation, and you can progress through Horrific Visions using whatever mask order you desire.
Burned Bridge → Dark Imagination → Nemesis → Vengeance → Daredevil → Long Night → Pained → Multitudes
Burned Bridge
adds void zones to every step you take, with each void zone draining Sanity. This mechanic will always drain 30 Sanity, no matter which mask difficulty you have, so this is a good starting mask, as this will help you get used to planning your route.
Dark Imagination
spawns a normal add if your Sanity is below 50%. With full hourglass and tribute updates, you should not be spawning this add unless you incorrectly manage your Sanity, so it is mostly a non-issue.
Nemesis
adds Gamon or Hogger as enemies that attack you every 25 enemies killed in the Vision. You can very easily plan for their spawns, as there is a counter on the top of your UI, and any mob kills (besides critters) count towards making them spawn, so you're able to leave weaker mobs up to trigger a spawn at a better time. In addition to this, they count as Sanity management, as killing them returns Sanity via

, so it is a good idea to get used to them early on.
Vengeance
makes it so mobs bolster nearby enemies for 20% increased damage when they die. Many pulls in Horrific Visions include a couple of normal mobs with no abilities and a couple of dangerous mobs (usually higher health) with abilities that can kill you, so it is valuable to learn early on which mobs to focus and which ones to leave for last.
Daredevil
increases Sanity damage caused from creatures by 400%. This makes it so most boss abilities drain a lot of your Sanity, so this is the time to learn how to deal with all of them. In this version of Horrific Visions, you can benefit from

in combat (and cast them in combat as well!), so it is also a good plan against bosses with harder-to-dodge Sanity mechanics, such as Umbric in Stormwind or Rexxar in Orgrimmar.
Long Night
is an extension of Daredevil, as it adds no direct effects besides cutting your Sanity bar in half. Have you not learned how to manage your Sanity? This is the time to learn it.
Pained
adds a second Madness to every wing in Horrific Visions. Some wing affixes can be pretty nasty when combined, namely

in Lost Areas. As Sanity resistance is higher than it was in BFA, taking a little longer between pulls to handle these affixes is a good way of dealing with it.
Multitudes
is one of the new masks—and by far the nastiest one added. Multitudes more than doubles the amount of trash you get in Horrific Visions and adds additional, even more dangerous enemies to packs. It interacts negatively with masks like Nemesis and Vengeance. This is your final test. Take a deep breath and take one pack at a time. Good luck!
Where do I Enter Revisited Horrific Visions?
Once the Revisited Horrific Visions event is available, you can queue from Dornogal, just south of the Coreway tunnel. Once the introduction questline is completed, interact with the

to queue for the Revisited Horrific Vision available for the week.
Once your queue is accepted, you will start in a room similar to that of the Heart Chamber in Silithus. In this room, you can check on your Tribute progress, preview and select how many Masks you want to use in the Vision scenario, and check with Soridormi on what specialization you want her to use in the vision (or even if you want her to help you or not). Once you're ready to start the Vision scenario proper, talk with the

Revisited Horrific Visions Upgrade System
The Titanic Research system seen in Battle for Azeroth is back, in a different manner, in the Revisited Horrific Visions. This time, it is broken down into two systems: the Hourglass of Horrific Visions, which follows a similar vibe of using

to earn upgrades, and Tributes, a system that grants passive increases as you complete Revisited Horrific Visions.
The Hourglass of Horrific Visions
The Hourglass of Horrific Visions is a new upgrade tree for Revisited Horrific Visions, focused on giving you upgrades to survive them more easily. This tree is an abridged version of the old Titanic Research system.
Upgrading this tree requires a new item called

Tributes
Tributes are a new way to gain passive upgrades in Revisited Horrific Visions. Tributes are shown in the preparation room in each Revisited Horrific Vision and are automatically unlocked as you reach certain thresholds over Horrific Vision runs. These thresholds require things you passively do in Horrific Vision runs, such as killing enemies and collecting potions.

Soridormi - Helper NPC in Revisited Horrific Visions
Soridormi is the one guiding us to revisit Horrific Visions, and this time around, she can also help you! Soridormi becomes accessible as a helper NPC after completing your first Revisited Horrific Vision.
When inside the Horrific Vision preparation room, you can interact with her hourglass on the quest

, which introduces you to her hourglass. After completing this quick quest, you can interact with the hourglass at any time to get Soridormi to serve as a Healer, DPS, or Tank (or not get her help at all).
Soridormi acts as an extra party member in Horrific Visions, so mobs are scaled as if an extra player is in the party. However, Soridormi does not take any damage from Sanity effects, and can revive players by using a Sanity Restoration Orb if they die during Horrific Visions.
However, as of the time of writing, we heavily recommend against using Soridormi as a helper. Her benefits at this point on the PTR do not warrant the extra scaling, compared to bringing a second player.
Revisited Horrific Visions User Interface
Horrific Visions uses a few specific elements of the User Interface. This overview uses the in-game default UI. If you cannot see some of the features pointed out below, it may be due to an add-on. If you are using a UI add-on and can't see the Sanity Bar or the Sanity Restoration Orb Button, check your add-on settings and ensure another element isn't covering them.
Group Sanity
- Both your party and raid frames will show how much Sanity your fellow group members are currently at. Raid frames use a simple bar at the bottom of the player's frame instead of the full graphic. If your friends die or reach 0 Sanity, their Sanity bar will glow, after which they can be revived by using a Sanity Restoration Orb near them or by donating half your Sanity to a downed member.
Your Sanity
- This shows your current and maximum Sanity capacities. If this bar depletes to 0, you die. If you are soloing the Horrific Vision, it will end and you will port to the exit to collect your reward. Note: There is passive sanity loss in the visions, so don't AFK or spend too much time standing around.
Sanity Restoration Orbs
- If unlocked, this extra action button appears for all members in the vision. Pressing this button will summon a Sanity Restoration Orb that will fully restore the Sanity and Health of all nearby players, over 10 seconds, and provide immunity to all Madness effects for its duration. Only 3 of these may be used throughout the Horrific Visions; the remaining number of uses available is shown on the button as well.
Sanity Damage
- Sanity Damage happens when you lose Sanity by being hit by certain abilities or mechanics. When this occurs, the amount of Sanity lost is shown on-screen near your character.
Active Madnesses
- These are the current Madness effects that you are subject to, related to the area you are located in. These effects are always active until you move to a new area, which will often bring a new set of Madness effects. You can mouse-over these for details as to what exactly they do.
Main Objective Tracker
- This will show the main objective of the Horrific Vision. Completing this objective will
end
the Horrific Vision. Here you will also see the total amount of

you have earned so far. These are awarded after you leave the Horrific Vision.
Bonus Objective Tracker
- When you are near a new area of the city, the area's objective will appear as a Bonus Objective. Bonus Objectives are additional objectives the player can complete to earn extra rewards at the end of the Vision. There are a total of 4 Bonus Objectives in a Horrific Vision.
Revisited Horrific Visions Mechanics and Objectives
Your time inside the Horrific Vision is limited. The vision begins when you talk to the

inside the Heart Chamber portion of the vision. Ensure you are fully prepared and aware of what you are getting into.
Horrific Visions of Stormwind and Orgrimmar
Players will be queuing into an instanced version of Stormwind or Orgrimmar.
The active city changes weekly.
The mechanics for both Stormwind and Orgrimmar function similarly, but each has its own unique objectives, layouts, secrets, and special rewards.
Interacting with the Portal to the Horrific Visions in Dornogal will let you know which Horrific Vision is available for the week ahead of time.
Inside the Heart Chamber, you can check which Vision is up by checking your map. This shows you the city you will be entering and the layout of the corrupted areas. The layout is consistent for each city and does not change, so once familiar with it, there is no need to check the map.
Sanity in Horrific Visions
Sanity is a player resource bar that starts at 1000 by default. This is drained passively over time and drained in more significant amounts if specific abilities hit you. If your Sanity hits 0, you die. The reverse is also true; if you die, you'll be reduced to 0 Sanity.
Passive Sanity Drain
- While in any Vision of N'zoth, your Sanity is passively drained just by being inside the vision. In Horrific Visions, the passive Sanity drain varies depending on which area of the Vision you are standing in.
Sanity Damage from Creatures
- Some enemies inside Visions of N'zoth cast abilities that drain your Sanity if they afflict you. In Horrific Visions, any enemy that has an ability that can drain your Sanity will have a buff on it called:

Creatures with Sanity Breaker abilities are usually Elite or Boss mobs.
Sanity Damage from Mechanics
- Don't stand in the fire! Many different patches of bad will cause sanity loss if you stand in them. Some are caused by enemies, others by Madnesses, and others are just part of the environment (e.g., the glowing blue walls around and between areas).
If a player dies and there is another player alive, the living player can use a Sanity Restoration Orb or give half of their remaining Sanity to revive the dead player with the amount they gave. If a solo player has Soridormi as an NPC with them, Soridormi can also use a Sanity Restoration Orb to resurrect them.
If all players are dead, the Horrific Vision ends and MOTHER evacuates the players to the rewards chamber.
Sanity Loss Resistance and Restoration
There are several ways to mitigate sanity loss.

is the first upgrade players will obtain from the Hourglass of Horrific Visions. When purchased, your party will have access to 3 Sanity Restoration Orbs that you can deploy by clicking the extra action button on your screen while inside a Horrific Vision. This will revive any dead players with 100% Sanity and fully restore your Sanity over its duration. Further research also opens up other Sanity helpers.
Hourglass of Horrific Visions Upgrades
- Almost all Hourglass of Horrific Visions upgrades help with Sanity mitigation.
The
Singular Sanitation Expertise
trait tree does not directly help with Sanity mitigation until you reach the final trait,

- A new feature of Revisited Horrific Visions is the addition of Sanity drain reduction. As these originally came from the legendary cloak

, the new way to obtain this reduced Sanity loss is by completing Horrific Visions areas. Each Horrific Vision area objective completed at least once will
permanently give you 10% Sanity drain reduction, to a total of 50% for all 5 objectives completed
(separate for Stormwind and Orgrimmar).

- This Tribute helps you mitigate Sanity loss by killing enemies. Based on your rank in this Tribute, Elite NPCs in Horrific Visions will grant you 50/100/150 Sanity when defeated. This also includes end bosses in each Horrific Vision wing.
The "Good" Potion
- There are Vials of Mysterious Liquid scattered throughout the vision. Out of the possible five potion colors, one will restore 100 Sanity and one will drain 100 Sanity when drunk—and these change every Horrific Vision! Luckily, you can check which Potion is bad at the start of a Horrific Vision.

Revisited Horrific Visions Objectives and Gameplay
Your goal in Horrific Visions is to complete specific objectives while inside the Vision. You should aim to complete a total of 5 objectives per Vision. There is a "Main Objective" of the vision (which is killing the main boss for each Horrific Vision - Alleria Windrunner for Stormwind and Thrall for Orgrimmar), and then there are 4 "Bonus Objectives." Defeating the main objective will automatically end the Horrific Vision, even if you left bonus objectives behind.
It's important to know that your Sanity is your time limit and that you won't be able to complete all objectives until you have some upgrades that provide resistance against Sanity-draining effects or opportunities to restore Sanity.
It's suggested you only try to do objectives suited for your Sanity Resistance levels and work on upgrading your Hourglass of Horrific Visions before attempting to do harder areas.
Main Objective - Tainted Areas
The "main objective" is located in the first area (also known as the "Tainted Area") and is the objective players aim to complete every time on their first visit. It is seen in the objective/scenario tracker and appears as a SKULL on the map and minimap.
Completing this objective will END the Horrific Vision immediately, regardless of how many other objectives you have completed and how much Sanity you have remaining.
Bonus Objectives - Corrupted and Lost Areas
Players are free to venture out beyond the starting area and into the other sections of the city. There are four additional sections to the Horrific Vision, each with an objective. However, each area has a higher passive Sanity drain, more deadly enemies with higher health, and more relevant Madnesses.
2 Bonus Objectives are "Medium" tier difficulty located in the "Corrupted Area" of the Vision.
2 Bonus Objectives are "Hard" tier difficulty located in the "Lost Area" of the Vision.
Madness Effects in Revisited Horrific Visions
Each area of the Vision will have a Madness applied to the player. These are secondary effects the player will experience while being active in these areas.
These Madness affixes will be consistent for subsequent visits within the week but will change weekly. Each type of area has its pool of Madness effects. These can be viewed by opening up the map and mousing over the objectives.
You can see any Madnesses currently applied to you at the top of the screen. Players deal with one affix per area weekly, while players running with

Your spells and abilities cause you to shift between fast time and slow time. Fast time causes time to pass 30% faster, speeding up buff and debuff timers and causing you to cast, attack, and move faster.

Periodically summons a zone of power. Standing in it will increase damage dealt by 25%. Failing to stand in it will reduce your damage dealt by 10%.

Occasionally, players create a shadow image of themselves at their current location. After 4 seconds, that image explodes, forcing all nearby players to run in fear for 2 seconds.
Revisited Horrific Visions Potions
In the Horrific Vision of Orgrimmar and Stormwind, five different colored potions are scattered across the zones. Clicking a potion will cause you to drink it, giving you one of its five effects. Within a Horrific Vision run, all potions of the same color will provide the same effect;
however
each color will be randomly assigned a new effect every run.
The five effects are related to sanity or a 5-minute buff that has a negative impact when it expires. If the buff hasn't expired the second time you drink the same potion, it will extend the buff by 15 minutes.

Since there is only 1 bad potion (-100 Sanity Potion), once you find out what color that potion is, you can safely click the rest of the potions for the rest of the run. You can find out which potion is bad at the start of each Horrific Vision:
In Stormwind, just ahead of where you start the vision, you can find a dead

what a terrible choice invalidating any grinding in this game until what is left? this clownhouse still keeping mage tower skins away from users
*edit // ok.. you can get some new stuff too, but why invalidate old memento items with that new currency - at least put the mementos on a similiar purchasing amount

It's not explicitly stated, so I have to ask: will the original (BfA) Horrific Visions still be accessible from Silithus? I'm not 100% done with them and I don't want this event to replace it.
Since you queue for the modern version from Dornogal, it seems like it might exist alongside the original, but who knows?

Is it based on whatever the party leader unlocked or does each person have their own tribute upgrades?

out of the bank to try with the new Horrific Visions. It doesn't appear to have much effect. You are probably better off with your newer back for better stamina and dps.
If anyone has a different result, please let us know.

sad that your alts can't just buy multiple piece and equip them, weird, if they are participating and doing the runs they should be able to purchase a shield and a weapon from tiktak and equip them and yet they can;t

Got the First mask, put it on, but can't seem to get any other ones. Cleared Old Town and Mage Quarter even got last boss, nothing... What am I doing wrong? Anyone else having this issue?

Anyone else running into a in the Dwarven Quarter where you kill the 3 Gnomes and plant all the bombs but don't spawn the detonator and can spawn Therum? I can't even get my first mask due to this bug.

I just did 2 visions.
I didn't see any potions or shards at all. And the tribute that enables Clear Sight seems to require you to find potions and treasures to level it up...potions and treasures that I can't see because I don't have Clear Sight rank 1.
And I can't find any info about that in game or online anywhere.
Great design. Maybe I should just come back on week 3 or 4 after they make it faster to progress in these visions.

The listed order for Bad Potion > Good Potion chart in the Sanity section should reflect the order of the chain. (black > green > red > blue > purple)

Unless there is some sort of requirement to see them, I believe the Odd Crystals were left out of the 11.1.5 Horrific Visions. I was unable to locate any crystals or the turn-in NPC.
Update: They started showing up on week two. Blizzard probably fixed it.

I have not logged in yet this week so am just curious, are these trees warband bound or do we have to do them for each toon separately? Like, can I run 4 toons, each clearing an area and get the 40% reduction in sanity loss across my account or does it only apply to the singular toon that has cleared the areas?

How do I activate potions? Have done SW visions multiple times now, each zone, and potions are not active. The dead guy with the note and potion does not appear at all. What’s the trigger condition?

The guide above says by wearing a faceless mask, the enemies will have +25% health & +25% damage, and you get +20% in Corrupted Mementos gained and when wearing multiple masks their effects are added together. Then it says equipping all 8 Faceless Masks means the mobs will have 200% extra Health and Damage, and you'll obtain a total of
140%
extra Corrupted Mementos.
Shouldn't that have said 160% extra Corrupted Mementos instead of 140%?
... 8 x 20 = 160....correct? Or does it cap out at 140% for some reason?

Putting mask of the Pained down as more difficult than Long night is kinda absurd. Long night is definitely harder, even with "proper sanity management"

I cannot seem to buy the vendor weapons on alts i have the required acheivements unlocked on my main and can buy them, but not available on alts, i even did the requirements for the achievements on said alts. kind of frustrating.

I have run into some RARE (non elites) anyone have info on them? i know the lizard in the water is mainly for the HUnter so they can tame it but what is up with the bar tender? i looked around for a poiton or a buff but maybe i missed it?

I've seen a lot of people having issues getting a full clear of stormwind to unlock the masks. once you have completed each area individually you get a 10% reduction on your sanity drain permanently which will stack with the upgrades upto 60% in week 1. And only engage the mobs you need to for your objectives.

The camera visibility in these visions is crap. You can't zoom out without losing all visibility. Your camera is your biggest weakness, Blizz.

I have run some visions with two characters and I am slightly confused. I believe we were told that the Hourglass of Horrific Visions would provide unlocks for our Warbands.
However, on two of my characters, different items in the hourglass are unlocked. How does this work? Do we have any information on this?

Ok, not sure which it was but had a hell of a time trying to get the Mask of Multitudes in Orgrimar. Tried 1 mask, 3 masks, 5 masks and no luck. Cleared everything, every time but ignored the trash piles and the mail boxes. Finally I thought, maybe the Mask of the Nemesis was the issue? So I removed that one from the equation and then tried with Mask of the Pained. I also searched all the trash piles and mail boxes. Finally got it!

The article states:
A new currency, Displaced Corrupted Mementos Displaced Corrupted Mementos, used for upgrades and cosmetic rewards. Corrupted Mementos still exist and will be converted to Displaced Corrupted Mementos at the end of a Revisited Horrific Vision.
But that does not apply to Corrupted Mementos you already have, does it? But just to the ones you get from the BfA Horrific Visions? Did a new Horrific Vision on a character with ~15k Corrupted Mementos, and they did not get converted. If that's the case then maybe the article should clarify that.

Recommended Revisited Horrific Vision Mask Progression
Although you will not obtain every single mask in this order, once you have access to all 8 masks, this is the recommended order we have for players looking to progress through the mask system. This is just a recommendation, and you can progress through Horrific Visions using whatever mask order you desire.
Burned Bridge → Dark Imagination → Nemesis → Vengeance → Daredevil → Long Night → Pained → Multitudes
There seems to be a flaw in their logic for their recommened order to obtaining faceless masks. They recommend getting Burned Bridges first BUT as far as I can tell by the list of HOW to get the masks, the ONLY mask you can get first is Long Night because that's the only one that doesn't require you to already have one mask active to get? The rest require "one mask active" to get. So why are they recommending Long Night as nearly the last mask?

If it is a limited-time event, then it is not really expansion content. Just like all the "game modes" aren't actually expansion content.
When they spend too much time and money on so-called "classic" realms and nonsense game modes, there is less content in real WoW (retail).
Last expansion we only had about 2/3 of the content we should have. And it was a shorter expansion. Now with TWW, we get a rushed expansion, less Seasons, less content, and more game modes and time-limited additions that are supposed to replace the content we should have. I will never understand why they do this.

In the primary section of the guide, it mentions "Tainted", "Corrupted", and "Lost" areas of the map. When breaking out the Madness Affixes for each area, though, the guide lists "Twisted", "Corrupted", and "Lost" areas. I believe the "Twisted" verbiage should be changed to "Tainted".

Has anyone ACTUALLY been able to resurrect someone with the "give them half your sanity" method? It's literally impossible to do this, there's no interaction with a dead player like the cog wheel icon.

I'd love to know why when doing a horrific vision today, I got kicked out after one death. Emergency Cranial Defibrillation (the cheat death) either never triggered, or triggered and then instantly killed me again despite the fact the mobs had reset.

Just in case anyone else did what I did (sigh), I got cosmetic versions of 5 masks to drop:
Mask of the Burned Bridge
Mask of the Long Night
Mask of the Pained
Mask of the Daredevil
, and
Mask of the Dark Imagination
I tried running visions with the other masks multiple times trying to get the cosmetic version to drop. Finally gave up and looked at Wowhead, and apparently there IS no cosmetic version for the 3 new masks (Multitudes, Nemesis, and Vengeance). The cosmetic versions of the masks appear to be for the 5 original masks only.
Hopefully my fellow collectors see this before wasting as much time as I did. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I find the difficulty difference from ALL other zones compared to the bugs in Valley of Honor to be an unacceptable jump. I main a warlock, and the blueberry is #$%^ing USELESS, he walks in, and it immediately dead, no lag time or ability for me to ramp up, he's just gone. Resummoning him is worthless because he's again dead in a second. NOTHING should be capable of that amount of damage in such a short time, it leaves nothing to skill and just shafts anyone not playing a tank/melee class with absurd stuns.

Honestly i would say once you unlock Multitudes and Nemesis, you should always run them by default. The combination functionally makes a sanity potion spawn every couple of packs which is absolutely nuts.

Midnight Pre-patch Frost Mage here.
I deeply regret not finishing 8 mask Stormwind before the stat squish and ability pruning. It is so much harder than before. The Mage Quarter,,, Hogger...

Blizz has severely overtuned these for some reason with the Midnight pre-patch. As a hunter main, I was previously ilvl730 and on 8-mask runs, I was able to make it to Alleria by taking it easy and slow. She would mop the floor with me, but I was getting better as I learned some new tricks and got her down to 50% health (I'm not exactly a pro-gamer here).
After the pre-patch, I can't even get out of Cathedral Square without my pet dying and getting completely obliterated by the first few mobs since blizz literally gutted the entire class by removing all of the utility abilities. Now I'll never get it done before Midnight begins and they remove the event.
