Obtain or purchase all items from the Shopping List below.

Go to 57.2 13.9 in Kalimdor, to the north of Winterspring, to find the Caverns of Consumption.

Use the 特效火焰防护药水 to get through the Fire Barrier.

Use the other 5 Major Protection Potions to get through the Chaos Barrier.

Drink 诺格弗格药剂 until you become a skeleton, then run past the gargoyle.

Use 史考特的幸运币 and walk through the Plant Barrier.

Pick a Water Stone from the pond at the room within the Plant Barrier, and leave the Plant Barrier room.

Use the Water Stone and walk through the Water Barrier.

Drink the 黑铁烈酒 to become a Dwarf and walk past the golem.

At the intersection, take the ramp up.

Drink 亚口鱼油 until you become a gnome and walk through the metal fence to the left.

Summon a 溜溜 and dress it with a “小公主”帽, then talk to the Wisdom Cube to get 第一个印记.

Return to the intersection and drink a 轻灵之油 to get past the Ethereal Barrier to the right.

Use your 戈多克食人魔装 and 冬泉火酒, talk to the Fist Stone, and get 第二个印记.

Return to the intersection and take the ramp down.

Read the plaque on the right pillar, click off the 冬泉火酒 buff, and use 智力卷轴.

Carefully walk towards the and loot it.

Alchemists learn this recipe upon first learning Northrend Alchemy.
This recipe requires 1 小型亚口鱼 for 1 to 3 oil.

溜溜
This adorable pup is a reward from the achievement 1Q24，来的密, which requires you to run random heroic dungeons with a total of 100 unique players.

“小公主”帽
This adorable princess costume can be bought from 维茨格 at the 永恒岛, or from “母狮”丽奥/萨拉, at your Garrison (provided you have a Menagerie built), for 1 抛光的宠物符咒.

This recipe requires 2 晶鳞鱼 for 1 to 2 oil.

This suit is a reward from 戈多克食人魔装, from 诺特·希姆加克 at the north wing of 厄运之槌.

冬泉火酒
This potion is an uncommon drop from the many Winterfall furbolg from 冬泉谷, like the 冬泉巨熊怪. Their leader, 冬泉酋长, has a high chance of dropping some Firewater.

Scribes can learn this recipe at Inscription 65. This item requires 1 轻羊皮纸 and 1 月光墨水.

智力卷轴You will need to click off the 冬泉火酒 buff to use the Scroll of Intellect, as those buffs conflict with each other due to both being considered Battle Elixirs.太阳龙宝宝F.A.Q.太阳龙宝宝

Q: Do I need any professions to complete this secret?
A: Although some of the consumables required come from professions like Alchemy and Inscription, you do not need to have any specific professions to go through the cavern.

Q: Some of the items like the 特效火焰防护药水 say they only last 2 minutes! How can I possibly go through the cavern on such a short duration?
A: Many of the items required to complete the Cavern of Consumption's puzzles have extended durations when used inside the cavern (the Protection Potions, for instance, last 15 minutes), giving you plenty of time to complete all puzzles and obtain your pet.

Q: I accidentally triggered one of the cavern's anti-cheat mechanics and got teleported to the entrance, do I have to obtain the consumables again?
A: As long as the consumables you already used to get through the cavern didn't expire, you should be able to simply go back inside and get to the area you were last in. Make sure to always walk at the middle of the cavern, as getting close to walls can trigger the cavern's many anti-cheat mechanics and teleport you back to the entrance.

Q: Oh no, my internet went out and I got disconnected! Am I screwed?
A: Logging off in any way, shape or form will have you teleported back to the entrance of the cavern. As long as the consumables you already used to get through the cavern didn't expire (which shouldn't happen as none of these consumables use real-time durations), you should be able to simply go back inside and get to the area you were last in.

Q: I just got my pet, but I cannot use my toy hearthstones (like 旅店老板的女儿 or 冬天爷爷的炉石) to get out of the cavern. Am I stuck forever?
A: Because of 吞噬寂静, very few toys work while inside the cavern. You can use your actual 炉石 (or any other "item" versions of your Hearthstone) to return home, or click off all your consumable buffs and walk towards the entrance of the cavern to trigger one of the many anti-cheats of the cavern and get teleported back to the entrance of the cavern.

So, at max level, are the potions actually required to pass the barriers that simply do damage, in particular the first two? Is it possible to simply take the (hopefully negligible) damage and heal naturally? Or have there perhaps been other consumables available since this secret was created that can substitute for the Outlands alchemy?

I've heard rumors that you only need to do one of the Ogre Suit or the Perky Pug sections but not both to clear the bug gate. Can anyone confirm this as true before people try this without all the parts and waste a bunch of time and gold?

I did this today and before looting the egg, I got rid of all the appearance changing buffs (Noggenfogger Elixir, Scotty's Lucky Coin, Water Stone, Dire Brew, Pygmy Oil, Ethereal Oil and Ogre Suit) in order to get a nice screenshot from the cave looking like myself.

Now, I could have waited until I actually had the Sun Darter in my pet list before doing such a crazy thing, in case I'd been kicked out of the cave, right. But I didn't. So I'm quite happy that nothing whatsoever happened.

in case you're curious about changing some items to ones with similar/the same visual effects:

i tried using 蓟叶树枝 instead of 史考特的幸运币 and it doesn't work. it won't let you use the toy inside the cave and even if you use it beforehand and then enter the cave you cannot pass the wall of thorns.

also you can't subsitute 冬泉火酒 with 增长药剂, it will still display the same message about you not being big enough.

Works like a charm, but if you don't have alchemy or know an alchemist, it's gonna get pretty expensive depending on your server.

Dire Brew can be collected while in the instance for the Brewfest daily quest, if anyone wants a quick port in to get it rather than flying in.

Welp, after forking out thousands of gold for the potions and getting all the ducks in a row. the pygmy oil did what it was supposed to but i couldnt get through the gate. Im' def not happy right now... guess i will just grind out the patterns and make them myself.

I wonder if they will extend the duration of the potions even longer in this area, now that potions are going to have a 5 minute cooldown...

As of today (the day after the Shadowlands patch) the potions take 5 minutes to cooldown. This makes the second gate impossible to pass (unless anyone has a better idea).

Also the duration of the potions hasn't changed

As a DH you can just jump over the first two barriers. You can ignore all the protection potions from the shopping list. Hero class btw.

As of today the potions will last 2 hours in stead of 15 minutes. This makes it a bit less stressful to complete after the 5 min. cd that was introduced with the Shadowlands prepatch.

Very simple but very time consuming!

You can do the following:
1. Drink 特效火焰防护药水
2. Pass the Fire Barrier
3. Log Out or Wait 5min
4. Drink any Potion you do NOT have active
5. Repeat from Step 3 until ALL Potions are Active
6. Pass the Chaos Barrier
7. follow the Guide!

Hi,
would be good to add that you can only do this with a level 45 char because the water stone inside the cave requiers that level to pick it up.

As Void Elf you can just use the racial "Spatial Rift" and teleport through the Chaos Barrier. Just tested it in 9.0.1! Have fun.

One thing i encountered without really thinking or testing is that you need to but more than 1 亚口鱼油. I also didn't realise you only needed one mark on your arm so i was hearthing like a madman to get more oil and then into BRD for another dire brew mug. stressful was an understatement when the Major Pots are 300g a pop on my realm.

Don't be like me and farm all your items, just to forget the Dire Brew is a conjured item and will disappear after 15 minutes of logging. I farmed them all late one night, figuring I'd come back the next day due to the CDs on drinking all the potions, and parked my character in front of the cave. The next day, I ran inside and started gulping potions, then panicked when I realized the brew had vanished from my bag and I only had 37 minutes to farm up another Dire Brew to pass the Stone Watcher. Thankfully, I had a Direbrew's Remote. And I'm a mage with portals (Tol Barad to Hyjal FTW!). Otherwise, the 15K+ I spent on potions would have been wasted ... :(

My recommendation, remove NOTHING until you need to remove the Winterspring firewater to apply the Scroll of Intellect! I removed a couple things before proceeding into the final passage and was transported back to the beginning. Among the things removed was the Dark Iron dwarf disguise so I had to go collect another ethereal oil, Gordock suit, and ale before going all the way back. Thankfully, none of my Major Protection elixirs had just yet expired and I was able to get my pet. Also, there is a 5 minute cooldown with the potions, but they last about 2 hours each.

The potions seem to last about 67 minutes 40 seconds. When I drank the last one the Fire protection one was down to 42 minutes left.

I was disconnected multiple times during this, and I logged off to mail myself some more pygmy oil. I wasn't sent back to the beginning. I mean, I had to go back out to get my mail, but looks like you don't get kicked out for logging or disconnecting.
