This strategy guide covers how to defeat the Star Augur Etraeus boss encounter and notable trash on all difficulties. Star Augur Etraeus is located in the Eternal Observatory, inside the Astromancer's Rise. He is one of the five bosses in the Nighthold's main terrace that can be engaged in any order:

Most groups will fight Star Augur Etraeus on their way to reaching High Botanist Tel'arn. Etraeus is nominally the fifth boss of the raid, and is the second boss in the

This guide provides tips and strategies for defeating the

Changes to the fight for Looking for Raid, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties are listed below in their respective sections, including suggestions for dealing with the new mechanics introduced in these difficulties.The Star Augur Etraeus encounter has four phases, each one triggered at a health percentage. As the first phase is essentially "the lack of a phase", where no unique mechanics occur, it will be called Phase 0 in this guide, and the remaining phases will be referred to as Phases 1-3.
Phase 0 lasts until Star Augur Etraeus reaches 90% health
Phase 1, the ice phase, lasts until Star Augur Etraeus reaches 60% health
Phase 2, the fel phase, lasts until Star Augur Etraeus reaches 30% health
Phase 3, the void phase, lasts from 30% until Star Augur Etraeus is defeated
As the phases change, the walls of the Observatory will collapse and give players a glimpse into space, including a nearby planet and several nebulae. With each phase, these features take on a new appearance, making Etraeus one of the most visually stunning fights in the game.The fight is single-target until the final phase, where large, priority-DPS adds will spawn about once per minute, and small groups of trivial minions spawn very frequently. This is the most difficult phase of the fight, and the raid should use

Phase 0: The Dome of Observation
This initial phase of the encounter introduces the raid to two concepts that will be reused, with thematic twists, in each subsequent phase of the fight.
Coronal Ejection spawns and applies a DoT to 4 players
Etraeus will summon a sphere of light called a

near a random player. The

will hurl bolts of Fire at nearby players.

s are summoned in sets of two, with a brief delay between the first and second sphere
The first set occurs at 14-18 seconds into the fight, and subsequent sets - if Etraeus stays in this phase long enough - will happen at 30 second intervals

The tank with the strongest Magic-damage resistance should tank Etraeus for this phase
There is no tank-swap mechanic, as this phase is intended to be short, but tanks may wish to swap if they have exhausted resources or cooldowns
Assign at least one healer to ensure the tanks do not drop too low while the other healers are dealing with

In this phase, Star Augur Etraeus will use Frost variations of his main abilities. He will also begin using

Healers should heal efficiently during the early stages of the phase, as mana will likely become a problem later on in the phase

has applied itself continuously to the entire raid, healers should begin chaining cooldowns, one at a time, until the boss is defeated

The boss appears to cast
大爆炸
3 minutes, 15 seconds after phase 4 starts. This is a hard enrage that will instantly kill the entire group and serves as a gear check mechanic.
If you find your group dying to this, I recommend having one tank kite the third add away while the rest of the group ignores it and focuses down the boss. (Or second add, depending on your DPS).

I feel that the symbolic escalation of his phases (as well as his verbiage during the final phase) allude to threats that Azeroth has faced in the past, is currently facing, and will imminently face in the future.
Phase 1: Frost (The Scourge)
Phase 2: Fel (The Burning Legion)
Phase 3: Shadow/Void (The Voidlords)
Blizzard loves to drop hints, as we know. I'm betting the next expansion will involve us coming back from dealing a huge blow to the Burning Legion on Argus only to find that the Old Gods have made their move once we return.

Doesn't seem possible to solo in BfA, because of the Absolute Zero debuff, that cannot be removed without being close to other players. Well, guess I'll wait till next expansion, so I can nuke him down much quicker.
