Upcoming Changes to Blacksmithing in Shadowlands Patch 9.2

Blacksmithing in Shadowlands 9.2 will see the following changes. Not all recipe sources are known at this time.

先磷矿石 - New reagent from Zereth Mortis Mining, used in most new Blacksmithing recipes.
匠力印记 IV and 初诞者匠力印记 - new Optional Reagents to set minimum level of crafted gear to 60 and iLevel to 233 and 262 respectively. Similar to the 链屿匠力印记, the 初诞者匠力印记 creates an item that is Unique-Equipped, so only one piece with this Optional Reagent may be worn at any one time. 匠力印记 IV will likely replace the 链屿匠力印记, since it creates an item 3 levels higher that does not have the Unique-Equipped restriction. You will be able to purchase these recipes from Vilo, the Quartermaster for The Enlightened faction in Zereth Mortis with Friendly and Honored reputation respectively.

Why is Blacksmithing Useful in Shadowlands?

Blacksmithing re-introduces sharpening stones and weightstones, which add temporary attack power buffs to bladed and blunt weapons.

Blacksmiths create the base item required by all plate wearers to create Legendary-crafted armor-- the Shadowghast armor pieces. Each Shadowghast piece can be made in one of four ranks, corresponding to different levels of Legendary armor the end user wishes to create.

I really hope that the four armor/weapon groups that "are designed after the aesthetics of each of the four Covenant zones", have unique in game models, different from the ones we have already seen.

Would give many more new transmog options, as well as more depth to the profession.

What about Stirrups ? I enjoy them the most as a Blacksmith helping a lot with gathering ore and making some gold in the AH not a lot but keeps me going.
Lets hope they coming back ......

So if nothing changes, Enhancement shamans and Outlaw rogues are left out in the cold, crafting-wise. At least Windwalker monks have the option to use 2H again, so they can use the spears. If they move or "copy" the 1H axe or mace from STR to make it AGI, everyone's covered.

Stirrups gave me and my alts a bit of quality of life and fun, not only in mining but also in questing ,
I'm sad to see them not returning for Shadowlands , it it's not about making a bit of Gold but about the concept of having more enjoyable time doing all kind of things whilst being on a mount .
I really hope they are coming back even in a next patch if not at the start of the expansion.

Hi, regarding this quote;
"for each Legendary piece plate wearers create, they will need four copies of the same armor piece, one of each rank"

This contradicts another wowhead guide here by Paryah How to Craft Shadowlands Legendaries - Base Item Costs, Runecarver, Upgrades
where they state; "The only additional cost for crafting a Legendary early and upgrading it later, is the Gold or material cost of obtaining the subsequent Base Crafting Item. This means that the fewer steps you take upgrading your Legendary to Rank 4, the fewer Base Items you have to obtain."

Can you confirm which is correct if you know?

Crafter's Mark 1 is not learnable at 40...You can only learn it at 45. Which is actualy very weird because you don't have anything red to learn from 40-45

Novice Crafter's Mark is learned at 50, not 40.

Probably the author has racial benefit for Blacksmithing. Many recipes have offset from the reality - as people above mentioned. Or maybe Blizzard changed crafting levels after this guide has been published, and the author does not bother to update it.

Guide is outdated. Crafter's Mark II is not unlocked until Level 100, preventing it entirely from being used to level the skill.

beside the wrong novice mark level listed on this guide, I'd suggest going 50-60 making Shadoghast ingots, since you are going to be using the immediately afterwards. This is assuming that you are mining your own ore and not purchasing all mats.

The pattern Plans: Crafter's Mark III - requires Revered with The Avowed does not appear to be in game at this time. Or maybe there is some requirement in order to see the pattern from Archivist Janeera.

The guide says "the new Crafting Experience system will put limits on how many Legendary base items you can learn to make to the maximum rank" What is that quantitative limit? Does the limit vary by rank? I'd like to figure out how many blacksmiths I would need to cover all of the legendary base items.
