Restoration Shaman PvP Overview
Restoration Shaman has always been a very strong healer, both offensively and defensively. It has a toolkit that provides both offensive pressure with damage and purges and defensive pressure with

. Restoration Shamans excel when facing casters, with a strong toolkit for disruption.
Restoration Shaman in Patch 9.2
Restoration Shaman is powerful in 9.2 if played in the right compositions. With strong instant cast healing and utility, Restoration Shaman can enable your teammates to succeed.
Restoration Shaman Strengths in PvP
Disruption
One of the biggest perks as a Shaman, you have many tools to disrupt the enemy team.

allow you to stop incoming spells from casters and delay or shut down damage. Using these two abilities correctly and rotating them throughout the game, combined with the use of line of sight, causes many spell casters to have a troublesome time.

Shamans have a lot of offensive potential in WoW. Although you can utilize

Avoiding Crowd Control/Handling CC
One of Restoration Shaman's strengths at the moment is their mechanics to avoid CC. Besides disruption spells such as

that delay CC. You are given a handful of spells that allow you to attempt to outplay your enemies' CC. Mechanics such as

This is accomplished by preliminarily using

Restoration Shaman Weaknesses in PvP
Survivability against Melee Cleaves
"Train the blue" is often stated when facing a Restoration Shaman. The disruption and uptime melee have can be very troublesome since you're forced to cast when being trained. In order to survive these cleaves, you not only need to be very smart with rotating your defensive cooldowns (

to run away from melee cleaves is the purest form of survivability you have. Kiting around a pillar or out of the line of sight of your enemies can help you survive alone with your own tools, although it is almost never the better option if you can receive help from your teammates.
Dealing with Interrupts
As always, you will often be required to cast

non-stop throughout the game to keep your teammates at full health. This can be rough, as a lot of teams either have disruption with stuns/interrupts or massive crowd control chains. Juking (canceling your cast to avoid interrupts) is one of the most important skills to have as a Restoration Shaman. Noticing opportunities to cast while your enemies are unable to interrupt you is a very advanced skill which can separate the good Shamans from the great Shamans. For example; a Mage being locked on Arcane school cannot use

Restoration Shaman in 9.2
Unfortunately Restoration Shaman received a only few minor changes that won't make much of a impact of the current playstyle of Restoration Shaman within PvP.

Gear and Legendaries in Shadowlands Patch 9.2
Tier sets bonuses have been added in patch 9.2, which will add a little more depth to our class. Also with the removal off the Versatility Amplifier from the PvP Trinket bonus and the addition to Critical Strike having more value in our kit. This may give you more room to diversify your stats from full Versatility to potentially a little more off stats.

With not much changing Necrolord still looks like the best one leading into 9.2 because it adds a lot of defensive capabilities. While Kyrian and Night Fae are still decent choices, I think Necrolord will stand out the best this patch.
