This guide covers everything you need to know about Embellishments, a new Optional Crafting Reagent that will add a unique ability to your gear. We will discuss what Embellishments are, the requirements of these items, and why they are useful!
Dragonflight Patch 10.1 Embellishment Updates
There are many new Embellishments and Embellished Gear being added in Patch 10.1 that cover a variety of needs! We have PvP focused Embellishments, new Spore-related Weapons and Armor, as well as general Utility Embellishments.
To showcase these additions, each recipe is color-coded based on the patch it was released in. Recipes without a color were released in
Patch 10.0
and recipes in
brown
will be released in
Patch 10.1
.
There has also been adjustments made to Embellishments and their related gear in Patch 10.1. You can see a list of these further in this article.
What are Embellishments?
Embellishments is a brand new system introduced in Dragonflight. Embellishments are specific abilities that can added onto a piece of gear or weapons to add an Equip bonus. There are two ways to get Embellished items.
Up first, there are Optional Crafting Reagents that add Embellishments. These items can be added to your generic Epic Quality (and some Blue Quality) crafted gear/weapons to add a special Equip bonus and make your gear more powerful. There is a large range of different embellishments that all target different stats and bonuses. You could decide to use an embellishment to improve your potions or you could increase your damage as a healer. These allow you to create a set of crafted gear that is based on your personal needs and goals!
Secondly, you have crafted gear and weapons that already include Embellishments. These items like
, come with a pre-determined embellishment that cannot be modified or removed. Sometimes, this gear will have an additional requirement of a set bonus. If so, you will have to wear both pieces of the same set to utilize your Embellished effect.
One important note of these Embellishments is that
you can only have two equipped at once.
Applying an embellishment to a piece of gear will give it the effect: "Unique-Equipped: Embellished (2)." This means you must choose wisely between the different bonuses. Gear with player-added Embellishments and gear with pre-determined Embellishments both share this restriction.
Generic Epic Quality Items are ones that do not have an Embellishment automatically attached. An example of a generic piece would be

Engineering Special Cases
Engineering gear like
and
, do not have an option for adding embellishments, despite not having one already attached. Instead, these items use a specific Engineering system of Safety Components and Tinker Sockets.
Dragonflight Patch 10.1 Embellishment Adjustments
There has also been a handful of Embellishment and related gear adjustments in Patch 10.1:
Versatility per nearby ally increased by 1%.
stat increase bonus increased by 1.4%.
damage increased by 1%.

How to Use Embellishments
If you decide to craft a piece of gear that comes with an Embellishment already attached, it will automatically be applied. You will not have the option to add, remove, or modify it, even during Recrafting.
Other recipes can be turned into Embellished items if you decide to attach an Embellishment to the gear during the initial crafting process and/or during Recrafting. In your crafting or ordering menu, you will have a slot dedicated to Embellishments in the Optional Reagents column. If you do not see this option, the item you are trying to craft is not able to use Embellishments.

Once applied, you will see the tooltip of the item change. It should reflect any changes that will occur due to your inputted Optional Reagents. This allows you to double check that you are crafting an item with the correct ability that you wanted.

Placing a Crafting Order
If you are placing a Public Crafting Order to have this item made, you will be required to provide the Optional Reagent and the BoP materials of the item. You can also find a crafter and place a Personal Order directly to them if you are looking for a specific Quality.
No matter what type of order you place, you will have to provide the Embellishment Optional Reagent.
Thankfully, these items can be purchased off the Auction House. If you are someone who wants to browse all of your options, you can sort by "Trade Goods" - "Optional Reagents" inside of the Default Auction House menu. You will see a mix of Embellishment Reagents and other Reagents, so you will have to sort through them to find what you are looking for. To make this process even easier, if you filter by only Rare and Epic items, you will have less to look through.

Is it possible to remove an embellishment through recrafting? Ie. if you craft a weapon with the Fang adornment and then later change your mind; can you then remove it?

I am curious about this so hoping to get a bit of clarity. If I put in a WO to have an item made that has Embellishment already on it, can I equip it if I do not have that profession? For example: If I wanted Elemental Lariat but I am not a JC can I use it?

Does anyone know if the Embellishment effect is impacted at all by the Rank or is the only difference Recipe Difficulty?
Trying to figure out if it is worth splurging for the Bronzed Grip Wrappings at R3 for a Dagger I'm looking to get crafted.

Note: The embellishment restriction of 2 items, is PER item, also for sets. i.e the sets will eat both your embellishment slots.

Since i didnt see it meantioned or overlooked it - THIS IS 2 of "UNIQUE EQUIP - EMBELLISHED". you can have two unique equipped embellished items (such as lariat and a weapon embellishment) and then have a 3rd piece that has the flavor pocket embellishment since the pocket does not make the item unique equipped.
