Thrall, birthed with the name Go'el, is the son of legendary orcs Durotan and Draka. Thrall is the founder of the nation of Durotar in Kalimdor, a former Warchief of the Horde, and a shaman of the Earthen Ring.
Early Life
Go'el is the son of Durotan, chieftain of the Frostwolf clan, and Draka, born a year after the Frostwolves made Alterac Mountains their home. Not long after Go'el's birth, Durotan, Draka and Go'el went to a meeting with Orgrim Doomhammer in Loch Modan. In this meeting, Durotan warned the Orcs about Gul'dan and the Shadow Council clan, who would use the Orcs as mere tools for power. After this meeting, Durotan and Draka were escorted out by Doomhammer's royal guards, who in reality were loyal to Gul'dan. Durotan and Draka were murdered in cold blood, with Go'el left to die helplessly in the woods.
The Internment Camps
Go'el was found together with the bloodied corpses of his parents by the human Aedelas Blackmoore, one of the commanders of the internment camps that would hold Orcs as prisoners of war after the Second War. Blackmoore gave Go'el a new name, one that would cling to the Orc for the rest of his life: Thrall, another name for
slave
in the human tongue. Blackmoore then proceeded to raise Thrall in his fortress of Durnholde Keep as a gladiator, combining both the savagery of the Orcs and the strategic mind of Humans into a single Orc.
Growing with the humans of Durnholde Keep, Thrall grew to become a prolific student and an exceptional fighter. Thrall became a Gladiator in Blackmoore's arena, and an excellent source of money for the Human. Although being treated as nothing more than entertainment and a source of gold, Thrall still grew to befriend one of the humans of Durnholde Keep, Taretha Foxton.
Thrall was taken from his parents as an infant, and as such, did not learn the Orcish language initially. Thrall's first contact with other Orcs was during one of his training sections with trainees from Durnholde Keep - A shipment of enslaved Orcs was moving through Durnholde, to be sent to the internment camps. One of the Orcs saw Thrall and believed he was being ganged up by the humans, which caused him to break through his chains and attempt to save Thrall, yelling in Orcish for him to run away. Due to Thrall's lack of knowledge of Orcish, he didn't understand a word that Orc was saying, and the Orc ended up beaten up and killed in from of him.
Escape from Durnholde Keep
Thrall was raised as a champion, being smart, fast, and even bigger than normal Orcs. However, even the money he brought to Blackmoore was not enough to stop the Human Commander from physically abusing the Orc constantly. The beatings would start taking its toll on the Orc, who refused to finish fights in Blackmoore Arena, which would lead to even more beatings.
Thrall would constantly confide to Taretha that he wanted to escape, and one day, Taretha created a diversion that allowed Thrall to escape Durnholde Keep unnoticed. Thrall met with Taretha one last time outside Durnholde, and after receiving provisions and supplies from Taretha, they shared a goodbye, Thrall hoping to never return to Durnholde.
Thrall's freedom would not last long, as he was captured and imprisoned into another Orc internment camp. In there, he met an Orc with glowing red eyes, Kelgar. Kelgar taught Thrall about the old ways of the Horde and the corruption created by Gul'dan. Thrall also learned from Kelgar about Grommash Hellscream, the undefeated chieftain of the Warsong clan, and an Orc that would still abide to the old ways. When Blackmoore arrived to this camp looking for Thrall, he escaped once more, now with a clear goal in mind: Finding Hellscream.
Finding His Roots
Thrall eventually found Grommash Hellscream, and thanks to his training as a strategist and gladiatorial combat, he was able to prove himself to the chieftain of the Warsong clan. Hellscream took the young Thrall under his wing, taught him the Orcish tongue, and told him that based on his tattered clothing, he was originally part of the now exiled Frostwolf clan. Thrall spent some time with Hellscream, but left not long after to search for his clan.
Thrall trekked through the frigid Alterac Mountains to exhaustion, being rescued by the Frostwolves. In the Frostwolf camp, Thrall met with the shaman Drek'Thar, who recognized him as Go'el, son of Durotan and Draka. Thrall found his place within the Frostwolves, and in there, he learned more about the ways of the Old Horde, before Gul'dan's corruption took over the Orcs. It did not take long for Thrall to be accepted once more as one of the Frostwolves.
Thrall and Snowsong, from one of his TCG arts.
Thrall eventually bonded with a frost wolf called Snowsong, who chose him as a companion. Not long after Snowsong bonded with Thrall, Drek'thar called the Orc to initiate him in the ways of shamanism. In one of Thrall's more spiritual experiences, he met with the spirits of Earth, Fire, Air, Water and Nature, and became the first Shaman to be initiated since Gul'dan's corruption took over. Thrall fully embraced the old ways of the Horde and his role of son of the chieftain. This was a significant event, as Thrall was the first shaman to be fully accepted by the Spirits since Drek'thar. This meant two things: That Thrall was truly destined for greatness as a Shaman, and the Spirits had finally forgiven the Orc race for communing with demons. Thrall was, in fact, the herald for a new order of Shaman.
Not long after Thrall's rise, a cloaked stranger approached the Frostwolf camp. Him and Thrall initially had a friendly conversation, but Thrall's orcish pride began to rise after the stranger accusing him of hiding in the mountains. Thrall announced he would join Hellscream in taking down the Orcish internment camps, and the stranger dismissed him as nothing but a "demon-ridden dreamer". Thrall challenged the stranger to single combat, revealing an enormous Orc clad in black armor.
During combat, Thrall managed to disarm the stranger, but was stopped from hurting him further by the Frostwolves. It was then revealed that the stranger was, in fact, Orgrim Doomhammer, Warchief of the Horde. Doomhammer knew of Thrall's existence thanks to Drek'thar contacting him, and he decided to taunt Thrall to see if he was as worthy of praise as Drek'thar mentioned he was. Thrall was not only able to challenge Doomhammer's strength but was also agile enough to disarm the Warchief, a feat previously only accomplished by his father, Durotan.
Thrall, Warchief of the Horde
Doomhammer then named Thrall his second-in-command. They both went through strategic plans to free the Orcs from the human internment camps, which involved Thrall masquerading as one of the prisoners and making the Orcs regain their spirit via shows of shamanistic power. With the Orcs' revived will, they easily overran the first three internment camps. On the fourth camp, Thrall was recognized by human soldiers, and thus they resorted to the liberated Orcs from the first few camps in conjunction with Thrall's shamanistic powers.
On the fifth internment camp, nowadays known as the outpost of Hammerfall in the Arathi Highlands, the human forces were better prepared, with knights from Durnholde camps stationed nearby to offer greater resistance against the Orcs. During this attack, Doomhammer was killed, impaled by a knight's lance. With Doomhammer's dying breath, he gave Thrall his eponymous hammer and black armor, and named Thrall the new Warchief of the Horde. Later on, Thrall made sure to restore the piece of the black armor that was broken by the knight's lance, and etch the Frostwolf Clan symbol onto the Doomhammer.
The Liberation of the Orcs
Thrall's first action as Warchief was to dismantle Durnholde Keep, as this would kill all other internment camp activity. To achieve this, Thrall secretly met with his human friend Taretha, and he begged her to leave Durnholde with her family. However, Taretha refused, thinking Blackmoore would definitely notice her missing, as he had taken Taretha as his mistress.

Thrall arrived at Durnholde Keep with the Horde behind him, and confront a massively drunk Blackmoore. Blackmoore went on a drunken rage and displayed an array of emotions, from sadness at Thrall supposedly betraying him, to amusement at Thrall's rise to his position as Warchief of the Horde. Thrall once again confronted Blackmoore, demanding him to either surrender or die, and Blackmoore's response was to throw Taretha's severed head at Thrall's feet, mentioning this is what he did to traitors.
The vision of Taretha's severed head sent Thrall into a shock - Taretha was the only friend Thrall had for most of his life, the closest thing he ever had to a family. In tears, he screamed in rage and grief, so hard that the elements raged with him, and they attacked Durnholde Keep. During the siege, Thrall managed to corner Blackmoore, who was running away in one of his secret tunnels. Thrall tossed a sword at Blackmoore's feet, and the human general managed to hold his own against the Orc. Thrall held back to allow Blackmoore a fighting chance. When Blackmoore tried to coerce Thrall into helping him subjugate the Alliance, Thrall got further enraged and struck a mortal blow onto Blackmoore, who died proud, believing Thrall had reached what the commander wanted him to be after all.
Thrall emerged from Durnholde Keep and found the Orcs victorious. With the victory, Thrall told Blackmoore's second-in-command to have the humans liberate the Orcs and leave Durnholde Keep, leaving the land for the Horde. If the Alliance did not bother the Horde, they would not trouble the Alliance, but if they did, they would make enemies that they had never seen before. Thrall allowed the remaining humans to flee Durnholde unscathed and then evoked an Earth Spirit to level the keep, while declaring the Orcs free of the Humans.
Sometime during Thrall's campaign to liberate the Orcs from the human internment camps, Thrall learned about an Orc named Eitrigg, and led an attack to the city of Stratholme to liberate this Orc, who was to be executed by the humans. However, before Thrall could reach Eitrigg, he was saved and healed by another human. Thrall followed both Eitrigg and the human, Tirion Fordring, and eventually found them. Eitrigg would tell Thrall he reminded him of his father, Durotan. Eitrigg then joined the new Horde, and Thrall allowed Tirion to leave unscathed due to saving Eitrigg's life.
Sometime after, Thrall composed a
lok'vadnod
, an Orcish song of honor, in honor of Taretha. A
lok'vadnod
is considered the greatest honor an Orc can grant to an individual, and to this day, Taretha is the only human known to have received one.
Warcraft III
Thrall had huge participation in Warcraft III, being one of the leaders of the Orc Campaigns for both Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne.
Sailing to Kalimdor
During their time in Eastern Kingdoms, Thrall and Grommash Hellscream spent much of it gathering the dispersed Horde forces. During one of Thrall's campaigns in the Arathi Highlands, he received a strange vision during his dreams - A clash of armies with fire raining from the sky, and an unknown voice warning him of things to come. When he woke up, he realized this was no dream, but a vision granted by a mysterious Prophet. The Prophet announced that he had forsaken his humanity and he saw into the future, the only hope for the salvation of the Orcs would be to sail west to the wild lands of Kalimdor.
Thrall promptly obeyed the vision and gathered the Horde in preparation for the voyage through the Great Sea. During this gathering of forces, Grom was captured by humans, but swiftly released thanks to Thrall and his forces. In retaliation for his capture, Grom had the idea to steal Human ships and use them to sail to Kalimdor, and so the Horde did just that. With ships and the entirety of the Horde assembled, they sailed towards west.
Meeting the Darkspear Tribe
At one point during the perilous journey to Kalimdor, Thrall's ships were attacked by a fierce storm, and they were forced to take shelter in a small island near the Maelstrom. In this island, Thrall met a tribe of trolls led by Sen'jin, and they talked about a human outpost who would attack the Trolls day and night. Fearing for the safety of both his crew and the Darkspear Trolls, Thrall and his soldiers attacked the human outpost, and while the Horde and the Human forces were occupied with each other, lots of murlocs attacked everyone, seeking sacrifices for their rituals.
Thrall was imprisoned in the murlocs' dungeon in one of the active volcanoes of Darkspear Isle, and learned from one of the troll prisoners that the murlocs were planning to sacrifice them to a sea witch. Although the murlocs were more advanced than your standard murlocs, even capable of speech, they were not aware of Thrall's shamanistic prowess. Using his powers, he was able to escape the prison and free the other troll captives. However, Sen'jin was not in prison, taken as the first sacrifice to the sea witch. Thrall arrived there just in time to witness Sen'jin being sacrificed. On Sen'jin's dying breath, he revealed a vision he had of Thrall - That he would help lead the Darkspear Tribe to greatness. Thrall then offered the remainder of the trolls a place within the new Horde, due to the kindness they had shown the Orcs. Vol'jin, son of Sen'jin and now leader of the Darkspear Tribe, accepted the offer and joined the Horde.
Thrall and the trolls emerged from the cavern and confronted Zarjira, the sea witch, who threatened them for the destruction of her altar and killing her murloc worshippers. She then cursed the Warchief, mentioning that his ships would be swallowed by the sea, and in fact, his ships were still not ready to sail again, damaged by the storm. If the situation was not already dire enough, the volcano in Darkspear Isle erupted, and Zarjira used this opportunity to launch another offensive against the Orcs and the Trolls. Thrall's forces managed to hold them off long enough to finish repairing the ships, and they sailed once more, as Darkspear Isle was destroyed by the eruption.
Arrival in Kalimdor
The Sea Witch's curse was effective, and many of the passengers on Thrall's ships didn't make to Kalimdor alive. The clans were scattered across the coast and Thrall slowly gathered them, but he was not able to find Grom Hellscream.
During Thrall's gathering, he noticed the brutal centaurs attacking a nearby Tauren tribe. Thrall engaged in battle with the centaurs, and met with the chieftain of the Bloodhoof Tauren tribe, Cairne. Cairne was impressed by the fierce yet noble demeanor of the Orcs, and offered to help them find their destiny in exchange for help with the centaurs. Thrall told Cairne that he had seen the centaurs advancing to the north, and Cairne rushed after them, realizing that's where his tribe was settled at. Thrall followed Cairne, and helped defend the village from the centaurs.
The Tauren were saved, but the centaur left their area damaged - Their brutality drove off all the wild animals off the region, leaving no game for the Tauren to feed on. They would have to abandon their current area and migrate further north towards the region of Mulgore, to avoid starving to death. Cairne agreed to tell Thrall about the Oracle he knew about if the Orcs helped the Tauren migrate to the new zone, and the Orcs and Trolls served as bodyguards, guarding the Tauren and their transport Kodos from marauding centaur.
After the Tauren settled in Mulgore, Cairne told Thrall what he knew: The Oracle lived even further north, in Stonetalon Peak, and he was the only one who he knew could help the Orcs find their destiny. For Thrall's extended kindness, Cairne offered several kodo to help the Orcs and the Trolls on their journey. Cairne and Thrall parted ways as allies, Thrall expressing that he would never forget Cairne and the Tauren.
Meeting the Prophet
Thrall's caravan ventured and eventually found Stonetalon Peak. Grom Hellscream was also at Stonetalon Peak, battling humans under the commander of the sorceress Jaina Proudmoore with the Warsong Clan. Jaina's forces had closed much of Stonetalon Peak, and Thrall wanted a more peaceful route, by hiring some goblins and use their zeppelins to fly above the humans. However, as Thrall attempted to make his way to the goblins, Hellscream grew impatient and charged into the humans. Jaina's forces retaliated and Thrall was forced to attack together with Hellscream. Thrall managed to obtain some zeppelins, but when he talked to Hellscream, the Warsong chieftain retorted saying that a true warrior would have battled head-on, without attempting to sneak around.
Thrall then sent Grom and the Warsong clan on a specific mission in Ashenvale, where they were to gather lumber and build a settlement, worried that Grom's bloodlust would be a deterrent when meeting the Oracle. Grom reluctantly agreed and left for Ashenvale.
As Grom left for Ashenvale, Thrall made his way to the top of Stonetalon Peak, and was surprised to meet Cairne once more. However, this was not a happy encounter, as the top of the peak was riddled with human forces. Cairne, thinking that air support would be useful, suggested an alliance with the wyverns of Stonetalon Mountains. The wyverns were being imprisoned by the vile harpies, and after a short battle, they were able to defeat the harpies and free the wyverns. Grateful for the aid, the Wyverns offered their services to the Horde.
With the help of the wyverns, Thrall and Cairne were able to destroy the human encampment and make the way to the caverns atop Stonetalon Peak. However, they got there late, as they witnessed Jaina Proudmoore entering the caverns first, and figured out Jaina was also after the Oracle.
Thrall and Cairne entered the cave and separated, eventually finding the Oracle's chambers. Jaina was also there, and as they were about to engage into battle, the Oracle revealed himself - He was the Prophet both Jaina and Thrall had seen in their visions in Lordaeron. The Prophet urged the Orcs and Humans to join their forces, as the Burning Legion had invaded Azeroth, and they would falter if separated. The Prophet also told Thrall that his mentor, Grom Hellscream, already fell to corruption. Thrall reluctantly agreed to join forces with Jaina, desperate to save Grom.
Lifting of the Blood Curse
Thrall's forces returned to The Barrens, where they met with the now corrupt Warsong clan. With the help of Cairne and Jaina, Thrall managed to fight through waves of chaos-corrupted Orcs, attempting to get to Hellscream at all costs. After defeating Hellscream's forces, combined with demons of the Burning Legion, Thrall faced his mentor, who taunted Thrall by saying they willingly got themselves corrupted by drinking the blood of the pitlord Mannoroth, fully aware that they were exchanging their freedoms for power. Thrall was sent into a rage by this betrayal, and attacked Hellscream, with both armies clashing at each other.
After a long struggle, Thrall managed to regain control of himself, and captured Grom's essence in a soul gem. He then went to a ritual circle, and by combining his shamanistic powers with ancient elven magic, they managed to purge the demonic influence from Grom's system. After Grom regained his senses, he instantly apologized to Thrall for his actions, and set to remove the corruption he helped create.
Thrall and Grom set to find Mannoroth, crossing a canyon carved by the infernals invoked by the Burning Legion during the battle before. They managed to reach Mannoroth, but they were quickly subdued by the pitlord.
As Mannoroth was preparing to kill Thrall and Grom, Grom gathered all his strength and dealt a devastating blow to Mannoroth, shattering the pitlord's protective plating and burying his ax deep into Mannoroth's stomach. This was enough to kill Mannoroth, but as the pitlord died, chaotic energies burst from his body, mortally wounding Grom from point blank. As Grom laid on his death bed, the red haze lifted from both his and the Warsong clan's eyes. Grom managed to free both himself and the Warsong clan from the Burning Legion and its demonic corruption, dying a hero.
The Battle for Mount Hyjal
Thrall, Jaina and their forces went to Ashenvale, where they found a new threat - the Night Elves, who were resentful due to Hellscream previously killing the demigod Cenarius due to the effects of the blood curse. The Orcs, Humans, Night Elves and remaining Demons from the Burning Legion were all fighting for their ultimate survival until Thrall received another vision, where he was told to bring Jaina to a grove at the base of Mount Hyjal.
In this grove, they met the two leaders of the Night Elves, Malfurion Stormrage and Tyrande Whisperwind. As tensions rose, the Prophet appeared before them once more, finally revealing himself to be the last guardian of Tirisfal, Medivh. Medivh once again pledged their forces to unite, or else the Burning Legion would kill them one by one and take over Azeroth. Though uneasy, Tyrande agreed to unite the Night Elf forces with Thrall and Jaina.
The allied forces then fortified the way to the top of Mount Hyjal, to protect the World Tree, Nordrassil, with three settlements. Thrall's settlement was the second, fortified with the trolls, tauren, and goblins, who were doing their absolute best to stop the advance of the Burning Legion, led by the eredar lord Archimonde. As Archimonde approached the Orc settlement, he mentioned that the Orcs were weak, and not worth bothering with. Thrall replied that their spirits were strong, and launched a powerful Chain Lightning that managed to hurt Archimonde. As the Eredar started charging against Thrall, he was teleported to safety by Jaina.
After a great battle, Archimonde was finally defeated, with the help of the forest spirits known as Wisps. With Archimonde's death, the Burning Legion's presence in Azeroth was thwarted.
The Founding of Durotar
The newly allied forces parted ways after Hyjal, with Thrall wanting to find a new place for the Orcs in the rugged lands of The Barrens. Thrall led the Orcs into battle in land previously dominated by the Razormane tribe of quillboars. The orcs easily got rid of the quillboars and took much of their land. Thrall named this land Durotar, as a homage to his father Durotan, and the capital was named Orgrimmar, another homage, this time to Orgrim Doomhammer. Sometime after, the Horde seemed to finally find their peace - The Orcs were settled in Durotar, the Tauren had taken Mulgore for themselves, and the Trolls decided to make the Echo Isles, a group of islands off the coast of Durotar, their permanent home.
In one of Thrall's adventures around Durotar, he found a grunt, Mogrin, being chased by a group of quillboar. Thrall attempted to save him but was unable to. Mogrin was a scout for Rexxar, a son of the Mok'Nathal, a clan of Orcs who were half-Ogre hybrids. Thrall met Rexxar and he soon wanted to welcome Rexxar into the new Orcish lands, but Rexxar wanted to earn his presence there, and as such, Thrall sent Rexxar to talk to the citizens of Orgrimmar and see what they needed help with. Rexxar was joined by the troll shadow hunter Rokhan, and in one of his tasks, he met with the wandering brewmaster, the pandaren Chen Stormstout.
Rexxar completed every single one of his tasks, earning Thrall's respect. However, in one of his tasks, Rexxar found humans amassing on the shores of Durotar, and brought the news to Thrall. The Warchief was troubled, as he thought the peace treaty previously made with Jaina would have stopped these. After several encounters with these humans, a summit was arranged between Thrall and Jaina. Sensing it would be a trap, Rexxar offered to go in Thrall's place, an offer the Warchief reluctantly accepted. Rexxar ended up being right, as the human emissaries were uninterested in talking and attempted to kill Rexxar and his friends, as they expressed disappointment that Thrall was not the one who walked right into his slaughter.
The Proudmoore Attack
Rexxar returned to Thrall and told the Warchief of the deception, and Thrall could not believe that the once peaceful Jaina would be capable of such a thing. Thrall then prepared a note and sent Rexxar to Jaina's port city of Theramore, where Thrall wanted to talk with Jaina and only Jaina. Thrall believed that only by meeting each other once more, they would have the chance of having everlasting peace.
Thrall then heard about the efforts of Admiral Daelin Proudmoore, and his intentions of slaughtering every Orc out there, and reluctantly realized the only way they could have peace was to attack Proudmoore's forces and kill Daelin Proudmoore. With Rexxar's help, Thrall enlisted the help of the Tauren, led by his old friend Cairne, as well as the Stonemaul ogres, who lived close to Theramore. While preparations were being made for the upcoming attack, they received the information that a blockade of ships surrounded Theramore, making the port town impenetrable.
As Thrall lamented over the situation, Jaina teleported to him, assuring she came in peace and she knew nothing about Daelin Proudmoore's, her father's, plans, and she had no idea how to proceed. Thrall showed sympathy towards Jaina, but sternly warned her that Daelin's actions could result in the destruction of Durotar, and the only way to stop him was to kill him. Jaina agreed to help, even if it meant the death of her father, but asked Thrall to keep human bloodshed to a minimum, because although they were following Daelin, they were still family to her.
Jaina told Thrall about a goblin shipyard close to Theramore that he could use to help break through the Kul Tiran blockade, and then teleported away. As the battle started, the goblin ships were used to break through the blockade, and Thrall, Cairne, Rexxar, Chen and Rokhan fought through the human forces, trying to reach Daelin, and engaged him in combat. During the battle, Thrall told Daelin that his new Horde was not interested in bloodshed or conquest, but Daelin retorted saying that the Orcs were all the same, and they could never atone to what they did to Stormwind and Lordaeron. Daelin fought to the death, and ended up killed by Rexxar,
As Proudmoore fell, Rexxar shouted at the humans that their battle was over, ordering their forces to stand down and retreat. The humans complied, and Jaina fell to her feet in grief of her father's death, questioning why he did not listen to her. Rexxar tried to console Jaina by telling her that Daelin was a proud warrior above all else, and that's how he should be remembered. Thrall proclaimed that the Horde wanted nothing but peace, and they left Theramore without harming anyone else, leaving Jaina to her grief.
Thrall, grateful for all that Rexxar had done to the Horde, offered him a permanent spot in Orgrimmar as part of the new Horde. Rexxar politely declined the offer, because his home was in the wilds. However, Rexxar considered himself part of the Horde, and whenever Thrall needed his help, he would come. After parting ways with Rexxar, Thrall focused on building Orgrimmar.
World of Warcraft: Classic
Thrall stands within the fortress of Grommash Hold, in the Valley of Wisdom in Orgrimmar. Warchief of the Horde, Thrall is considered to be the mightiest Orc alive. Ruling over the Tauren tribes and the Darkspear Trolls, Thrall's compassion has earned him many allies over the years, even among Humans and Night Elves. Thrall lives to defend his Horde's honor and safety.
Thrall has to remain focused and vigilant to the ever-present threats to Durotar and his people. During this time, the Horde gained a new ally - The Forsaken, a group of undead free of the Scourge's influence led by former Ranger-General of Silvermoon, Sylvanas Windrunner. When Forsaken ambassadors arrived in Orgrimmar looking for an alliance, Thrall was initially unsure about them, but he accepted them on the Horde after the support of the Tauren Archdruid Hamuul Runetotem.
During the time Thrall was Warchief, he had the Orcs Nazgrel and Eitrigg as his trusted advisors, with Eitrigg being chosen to help recruit prospective new soldiers to help the cause of the Horde (
新的部落
). Thanks to Eitrigg's wise choice of new soldiers, Thrall was able to discover that Neeru Fireblade, one of the Warlock trainers in Orgrimmar, was serving as a double agent for the Burning Blade, and eventually was dealt with in Ragefire Chasm. In another one of those adventures, players discovered a priceless memento to Thrall:
塔蕾莎的项链
, a necklace originally owned by Taretha Foxton. Thrall carries this necklace with him to this day (
塔蕾莎的礼物
).
At the end of Classic, Thrall received information about a draenei ship crashing in Azeroth, and its denizens, led by Prophet Vellen, ended up joining the Alliance. Thrall was worried that this new development could mean the end of the peace treaty between the Horde and the Alliance.
Burning Crusade
The Sin'dorei Join the Horde
Thrall started negotiations for the Sin'dorei of Quel'thalas to join the Horde, with Sylvanas serving as an ambassador for them. After the Sin'dorei proved capable of dealing with their own problems, Thrall accepted them into the Horde. Although he was known to oppose the methods used by the Blood Elves, he recognized their military and strategic value (

Thrall's Origins
During the adventurer's exploration of Outland, they discover a tribe of Orcs known as the Mag'har. Brown-skinned and seemingly untouched by the blood corruption brought by the Burning Legion, the Mag'har are a union of orcish clans that did not join forces under Magtheridon, who was at the time the lord of Outland (

). Once Thrall heard about the existence of the Mag'har, he immediately set to make plans to go to Outland and meet them, even going as far as make Eitrigg worry about the Horde being possibly open to attack due to their Warchief's absence (

).
Thrall: My people have survived in Outland... unnoticed for years... uncorrupted!
Eitrigg: Thrall! My lord... are you alright?
Thrall: I'll be fine, Eitrigg. We must begin preparations... I need to go to Outland at once!
Eitrigg: With all due respect, Warchief. Our enemies would take advantage of your sudden absence if we don't prepare properly.
Thrall: You are right, Eitrigg. The timing is unfavorable. Make sure our best ambassadors are sent as envoys to Hellscream.
Eitrigg: At once, sir! For the Horde!
Thrall: If he's anything like his father, allying with the Mag'har will mark the dawn of a new age for the Horde.
Some time after, Thrall shows up in Nagrand, hailed as a hero by the Mag'har. In this meeting, he meets Geyah, his grandmother and mother of Durotan, and Garrosh Hellscream, son of Grom. Thrall also learns his birth name, Go'el, in his meeting with Grandmother Geyah. Garrosh Hellscream had, up to that point, lived believing that he carried the name of the traitor who doomed the Horde, but Thrall also took this time to tell the truth about Grom (
).
Thrall: Greatmother...
Greatmother Geyah: I have been expecting you, young one. Come closer - my eyes are not as sharp as they once were.
Greatmother Geyah: Yes, you move like my son. You have his broad shoulders - ahh, and your mother's fierce eyes.
Thrall: Greatmother... Am I...
Greatmother Geyah: There is no doubt - you are the heir of Durotan... my grandson. Draka told me she was with child before she and your father left our world, but I never dared dream that they would survive...
Thrall: They... did not, Greatmother. They were killed shortly after I was born. I never knew them. I was raised as a slave. To this day, I carry the name of Thrall.
Greatmother Geyah: Thrall? You've been a slave only to the past, grandson! But no more! When last I saw him, Durotan told me the name he would give his unborn son... He was... so proud...
Greatmother Geyah wipes a tear away.
Greatmother Geyah: Go'el. You are Go'el, son of Durotan - rightful chieftain of the Frostwolves. This day, grandson - you are the great joy of my heart.
Thrall: I have dreamed of this moment all my life, Greatmother. 'Till now, all I've had were Orgrim's stories about my parents and their adventures on Draenor. He was my greatest teacher and dearest friend. He died a hero... They all died as heroes - and for all of them, a song of honor remains.
Greatmother Geyah: I see that you hold the Doomhammer. Have all of our greatest heroes fallen, grandson?
Thrall: They died honorably, Greatmother.
Greatmother Geyah: What of Grommash? What of Hellscream?
Thrall: He died as our greatest hero. It was Grom who freed us all... I was by his side when he struck down Mannoroth and ended the curse forever.
Greatmother Geyah: Blessed spirits! For twenty years, all we knew was that Grom was the first to drink from the cursed chalice and bring damnation down upon our people... It is the only truth his son, Garrosh has ever known.
Greatmother Geyah: Grandson, will you... Will you tell Garrosh what you have told me about his father?
Thrall: Tell him? Greatmother, that boy's father died so that all of us could live free of the blood curse. I will tell him nothing. I will show him! Show him and any that would doubt Hellscream's resolve exactly what Grom Hellscream did for all orcs!
Thrall then returned from Nagrand, bringing with him Garrosh Hellscream, who became his advisor. During this time, the orc gladiator Rehgar Earthfury also became one of the advisors for Thrall.
Wrath of the Lich King
Wrath of the Lich King was a transitional period for Thrall, where he starts training Garrosh Hellscream in the ways of the new Horde.
Echoes of Doom
Thrall came back to Orgrimmar after his journey to Nagrand, to find out the Lich King had returned with a zombie infestation. Thrall held a meeting with Garrosh, Sylvanas, Saurfang and Rehgar to talk about what to do with the return of the Scourge. During this meeting, it was revealed that the leader of the Undercity Apothecary, Putress, developed a possible cure from the Scourge curse (
).
After communing with the spirits and consulting with Saurfang, his most trusted advisor, Thrall decided to take a careful approach by sending a scouting party to the continent of Northrend before committing any big troops, as well as consult with Jaina to see what are the Alliance's plans to deal with the Scourge. Garrosh mentioned that dealing with the Alliance was dangerous to the Horde, and they had to think about first crushing the Human armies in Northrend, then dealing with the Scourge. Thrall was irritated by Garrosh's lack of tact and challenges to his authority as Warchief, and mentioned that the Humans were not a threat, and they were not about to blindly walk into a trap carefully laid by the Lich King.
Thrall then decided to make an example out of Garrosh, challenging him to a mak'gora, an Orcish duel to the death, by mentioning that he would not allow Garrosh to make the same reckless mistakes as Grom once did. Garrosh, showing frustration, accepted the duel, and the two Orcs battled in the Ring of Valor. When it seemed like Garrosh was getting an upper hand on Thrall, the duel was interrupted by a Herald of the Lich King, announcing a Scourge attack in Orgrimmar.
Garrosh Hellscream: Thrall...Warchief...your armies await your command. Let me lead them to Northrend to remove this undead menace!
Lady Sylvanas Windrunner: Yes, Thrall. The time has come to kill Arthas. You can take my grand apothecary with you. His knowledge will be invaluable against whatever the Scourge will throw at you.
Grand Apothecary Putress: It would be an honor, Dark Lady.
Thrall: What say you, Saurfang?
High Overlord Saurfang: Warchief, it is clear that Northrend represents the gravest threat to our people, and that we must act against it.
Thrall: My soul burns for revenge, but the elements tell me to think clearly. The Lich King is a ruthless opponent...one who must be handled carefully.
Thrall: We will send scouts to assess the situation. I will also convene with the Lady Proudmoore and see what plans the Alliance has.
Garrosh Hellscream: Gragh! I cannot take this! While you talk and deliberate, our enemies grow stronger! Were it my choice, I would have put all our available forces onto that frozen rock and conquered it for the Horde!
Thrall: If this is a trap, it is one I will not blindly walk into! Do not make the same mistakes as your father, Garrosh!
Garrosh Hellscream: After all that he did for YOU and YOUR people? MAK'GORA!
Thrall: You challenge me boy? I don't have time for this...
Garrosh Hellscream: So you refuse? Is the son of Durotan a coward?
Thrall: Inside!
---
Thrall: Let's finish this quickly.
Garrosh Hellscream: Your duties as Warchief can wait. For now... we fight!
---
Thrall: GYAH!
Garrosh Hellscream: Hah! So, son of Durotan, what--
Herald of the Lich King: PUPS OF ORGRIMMAR! HEAR ME, BRASH UPSTARTS OF THE HORDE! TREMBLE, AND KNOW YOUR DOOM, FOR THE LICH KING'S GAZE IS FIXED UPON YOU!
High Overlord Saurfang: Warchief! Scourge forces are attacking Orgrimmar!
Thrall: We will finish this later, son of Grom.
Thrall and Garrosh then led the Horde forces against the Scourge, with the help of Saurfang, Sylvanas, Rehgar and the adventurers. After the Scourge attack was dealt with, Garrosh asked once more to be sent to Northrend. This time Thrall agreed, but he sent Saurfang together with Garrosh to keep the son of Grom in line.
Herald of the Lich King: ARGH! THIS SMALL VICTORY WILL AVAIL YOU NOTHING! COME! COME TO NORTHREND. MY MINIONS ARE WAITING, AND THEY ARE HUNGRY....
Garrosh Hellscream: Well, Warchief? What say you now? Will you send me to Northrend?
Thrall: Saurfang...
High Overlord Saurfang: Yes, Warchief?
Thrall: Marshal our forces. Contact our goblin shipwrights. The Horde prepares for war!
High Overlord Saurfang: As you command Warchief!
Lady Sylvanas Windrunner: Excellent...most excellent.
Angrathar, the Wrathgate
During the campaign in Dragonblight, the combined forces of the Horde and the Alliance started assaulting Angrathar, a gate that led directly to the Lich King's fortress of Icecrown Citadel. During this assault, an uprising broke within the Undercity, and with it, Putress went rogue and directly dropped the Forsaken plague on Horde, Alliance and Scourge soldiers alike.
In Undercity, Varimathras, a dreadlord who served as Sylvanas' right-hand, took over the city. Sylvanas herself was almost killed in the coup, but she managed to flee with a couple Forsaken loyalists to Orgrimmar. As Thrall and Sylvanas were planning for a counter-attack, Jaina arrived and announced Varian Wrynn was planning to go straight into war against the Horde, for the death of the Highlord of Stormwind, Bolvar Fordragon. Jaina was sent to get an explanation about what happened at the Wrathgate, with both Thrall and Sylvanas saying Putress was acting on his own. Even then, Jaina warned them that Varian would likely not hear any of it and look for retribution.
Thrall, along with Sylvanas and Vol'jin, led the assault to take back Undercity. Although they managed to kill Varimathras and retake Undercity, their victory was short-lived, as Varian and the Alliance forces arrived from the sewers, having killed Putress themselves. Varian announced that, after discovering the horrors that were being discovered and research in the Undercity, the Alliance could never have peace with the Horde, and charged into battle. As the forces of the Alliance and the Horde charged into one another, Jaina mass froze the Alliance soldiers, and teleported away with them (
).
After the Alliance forces were teleported out, Thrall lamented to Saurfang that the peace they fought so long for was now gone. Saurfang then sat with Thrall and reminded Thrall of his duty with the Horde. Thrall lamented for Saurfang's son, killed in the Wrathgate, and left for Orgrimmar. To prevent any more Legion-related issues in the Undercity, Thrall sent in a legion of Kor'kron guards to help guard Undercity.
Thrall: It ends like it began...
Thrall: All that we have fought for in this world is lost. The hopes and dreams carried by my father and mother... by Doomhammer... Gone...
Thrall: If only you were here right now, old friend. You would know what to do.
Saurfang: I know what he would do.
Saurfang: He would say to you: Thrall, lead your people.
Saurfang: Let's go home, old friend.
Thrall: It's good to have you back, Varok, old friend. I'm sorry about your boy.
Secrets of Ulduar
The dwarven explorer Brann Bronzebeard learned that the Old God imprisoned in the titan facility of Ulduar, Yogg-Saron, managed to break free. Brann hastily returned to Dalaran and told Rhonin, the leader of the Kirin Tor. Rhonin asked Jaina to summon both Thrall and Varian to Dalaran, to an emergency council. Thrall made haste to Dalaran with Garrosh, as he understood the gravity of the situation, but Varian had arrived before him. Jaina attempted to intercept Thrall from entering the Violet Citadel, and after explaining the situation, Garrosh proceeded to enter Rhonin's chambers.
Garrosh met Varian in Rhonin's chambers, and the two proceeded to exchange harsh words. Thrall tried to stop the fight and Rhonin tried to calm down the nerves in the room, stating that they need to work together against the common threat. Varian departed, citing he would never work with the Horde again after the events of the Wrathgate, and Garrosh told everyone that a true Warchief would never partner with cowards. Thrall was disappointed in Garrosh's actions.
Crusaders' Coliseum
Thrall was one of the Horde leaders to attend the Crusader's Coliseum in Icecrown. Upon arriving at the Argent Tournament Grounds, Tirion greeted him and Garrosh warmly. Thrall told Garrosh to behave himself as he did not want a repeat of what happened in the Violet Citadel, a notion that was swiftly disrespected by Garrosh upon meeting Tirion.
Thrall: Garrosh, I expect you to control yourself here. I do not want a repeat of the Violet Citadel.
Garrosh Hellscream: Pah! That was a show of strength, worthy of a leader. I only regret I did not kill that human before the mage interfered.
Thrall: We are guests here, Garrosh, and you will conduct yourself honorably.
Garrosh Hellscream: What honor is there in thrashing about with blunted sticks? This is a waste of time.
---
Highlord Tirion Fordring: Welcome, Warchief Thrall. Overlord Hellscream.
Thrall: Thank you for the invitation, Lord Fordring. We look forward to observing these games.
Garrosh Hellscream: Speak for yourself, Thrall.
Highlord Tirion Fordring: I hope you'll see the merit of these events in time, Garrosh. We cannot win against the Scourge if we continue to war against one another.
Thrall: Wise words.
Garrosh Hellscream: Words of a fool, you mean. The Horde will destroy the undead without your aid, human, or that of the pompous king.
Thrall: Garrosh, enough!
Highlord Tirion Fordring: Under my roof, gentlemen, I trust you will behave.
Thrall: Of course, Tirion. I apologize for his outburst. It will not be repeated.
Garrosh Hellscream: Bah.
Highlord Tirion Fordring: If you will follow me, then.
During the Trial of the Crusader raid, Thrall can be seen in the audience as part of the Horde representatives.
Cataclysm
Thrall's life would forever change with the events of the Cataclysm.
The Shattering
When Garrosh and the Horde soldiers returned to Orgrimmar, after defeating the Lich King, Thrall held a banquet in honor of the young Orc. During this banquet, Thrall presented Garrosh with Gorehowl, the ax formerly wielded by Grom Hellscream and used to kill the pit lord Mannoroth. Thrall also authorized bonfires to be lit in Orgrimmar, again in celebration to the success in Northrend.
During the banquet, Thrall held a speech about problems in Durotar such as nature's turbulence and financial problems, and he sent Archdruid Hamuul Runetotem for a meeting with the Cenarion Circle so he can seek help for the Horde. Durotar was suffering from several droughts at the time, which cause one of the bonfires to become a fire that destroyed several buildings in Orgrimmar. Thrall attempted to stop the flames by using his shamanistic powers, but the fire was hellbent on destruction, so he had to snuff out the flames forcibly, an act he would regret. At this point. Thrall realized that something was wrong with the elements.
This was not the only problem the Horde was facing, though. A group of Orcs attacked a Sentinel settlement in Ashenvale, directly violating the Alliance-Horde peace treaty; the attack was particularly gruesome, with the elves skinned, chopped into pieces, and said pieces hung out in trees with Horde symbols painted using Night Elven blood. Since the Wrathgate, the Night Elves forbid Horde members from entering Ashenvale, so this attack was celebrated by most of the Horde soldiers.

However, Orgrimmar was suffering from their food supplies almost depleted due to the war against the Lich King, and the droughts affecting Durotar would not allow for vegetation to flourish to generate more food. Because of this, many elves saw the Night Elves' exclusion of the Horde as brutal. Thrall received a letter from Varian demanding the Warchief to denounce the attackers and bring them to the Alliance for justice, but Thrall refused to do so as to not hurt Orc morale. Thrall also refused to apologize for the ongoing thievery of elven goods and the brutal methods of the attack on the Sentinel camp, an action that greatly weakened his relations with the Alliance.
Thrall met with Jaina and Eitrigg, and decided to depart to Nagrand to commune with the elements to see what's going with them in Azeroth. Before departing, Thrall elected Garrosh as acting Warchief of the Horde. Before leaving, Thrall met with Cairne, who was against the decision to leave Garrosh as Warchief. Thrall was sure he was doing the right thing.
Thrall then traveled to Nagrand and met once more with Grandmother Geyah, who introduced Thrall to the Mag'har Shaman Aggra, to aid him with communing with the spirits. Aggra initially did not have much respect towards Thrall, often resorting to snide comments and even going as far as calling him "Slave". However, Aggra still followed her duty to help Thrall in his journey to becoming a true shaman, with a real connection to the spirits. Thrall eventually connected to the furies, or the elemental spirits of Draenor. The Fury of Earth was the only one able to assist Thrall, after eating a rock Thrall had brought from Azeroth. The Fury of Earth told Thrall that the Azerothian elements were afraid of the Shattering, a cataclysm akin to the one that destroyed Draenor.
As Thrall prepared to return to Azeroth to combat the Shattering, Aggra admitted she was nurturing feelings towards Thrall and wanted to go to Azeroth with him, but only if he refused to be weak. Thrall accepted Aggra's offer, mentioning he also had feelings for the Shaman. While still in Garadar, Thrall was approached by Perith Stormhoof, who told him everything that was going on in Azeroth - Cairne and Garrosh's mak'gora, the death of Cairne thanks to Magatha Grimtotem, who laced Garrosh's ax with a deadly poison before the mak'gora, and the Grimtotems attempting to take over Thunder Bluff. Thrall and Aggra immediately journeyed back to Azeroth.
Some time later, Thrall attends Cairne's funeral. Thrall was in a somber mood, knowing that his last exchange with Cairne was harsh at best. As a memento, Thrall took off a piece of Cairne's runespear, etched with a taurahe rune meaning "Healing". Not long after the funeral, a massive earthquake hit Azeroth, with cataclysmic consequences. Thrall sensed the earthquake started in the Maelstrom, and he and Aggra sailed together to the Maelstrom, in an attempt to calm the elements.
The Bilgewater Cartel
During the journey to the Maelstrom, Thrall and Aggra were met with a massive tsunami that destroyed their boat, Draka's Fury, and ended up stranded on the Lost Isles. Aggra was initially found by the Bilgewater Cartel of Goblins, who had recently lost their capital, Kezan, due to a volcano eruption (
敌人的敌人就是……
). Aggra formed an alliance with the Goblins and rescued Thrall from the hands of the SI:7, the Stormwind spying agency that captured an unconscious Thrall (
珍贵的货物
). In exchange for saving him, Thrall helped the Goblins battle the SI:7 (
酋长的复仇
).
After the Bilgewater Cartel, Thrall and Aggra deal with the SI:7 and other menaces in the Lost Isles, Thrall proceeds to beat up Trade Prince Gallywix, Thrall offers the Bilgewater Cartel a place within the Horde, giving them a place to stay in Azshara (
最后的对峙
).
Stepping Away As Warchief
After seeing what the Cataclysm did to Azeroth, Thrall decided to step away from his duties as Warchief, leaving Garrosh as Warchief of the Horde. Thrall then joined the Earthen Ring to delve deep into shamanism. Sometime after departing to the Maelstrom, Thrall was invoked in a vision by Vol'jin, looking for guidance about Garrosh's reckless demeanor. Thrall tells Vol'jin to trust Garrosh, believing again he did the right thing (
古老的宿敌
).
Vision of Thrall: Vol'jin. It is good to see you, brother.
Vol'jin: Thrall! I am glad ya be well. Dere were rumors otherwise.
Vision of Thrall: Indeed. Someone did try to kill me, but that is not my greatest concern at the moment. The world itself calls for my aid.
Vol'jin: I must beg ya council my friend. I can't be standin' by Garrosh while he be turnin' our people against each other for the sake of war. My respect for ya does not extend to dis new Horde... I am tinkin' of leadin' my people away.
Vision of Thrall: Vol'jin, I chose Garrosh because he has the strength to lead our people through these trying times.
Vision of Thrall: For all my supposed wisdom, there have been moments that I've barely been able to hold the Horde together. The Wrath Gate and Undercity displayed that clearly.
Vision of Thrall: The Horde cries for a hero of old. An orc of true blood that will bow to no human and bear no betrayal. A warrior that will make our people proud again. Garrosh can be that hero.
Vision of Thrall: I did not make this decision lightly. Vol'jin. I know our alliances will suffer for it. I know the Horde will be irreversibly changed. But I made this choice with confidence that Garrosh is exacty what the Horde needs.
Vision of Thrall: I'm trusting you and the other leaders to not let this divide our people. You are stronger than that.
Vol'jin: I understand, brotha. I will tink on this and be troublin' ya no furtha. You have a world to be savin'.
Vision of Thrall: Throm'ka old friend.
Vol'jin: Ya be proud and strong, youngblood. Tha Darkspear will be honored ta have you fight beside de'm.
Vol'jin: Dese will not be easy times, but i be suspectin' we will be stayin' with tha Horde for the good of all.
Vol'jin: Thrall's words are true, as dey always be. The Horde is much more den a few old, stubborn leaders and a handfull of heroes from Northrend. The people be cryin' Garrosh's name... at least for now.
Vol'jin: Still, I be hopin' Thrall will return to us one day. Tha future right now be lookin' very grim...and very bloody.
Vol'jin: Go now. Make tha Darkspear proud. Dere are many wars ahead of us, an' I'm sure ya be hivin' a part to play in all of dem.
Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects
Thrall was facing difficulties on his new life as part of the Earthen Ring. Thrall received encouraging words from his shaman friends Rehgar and Nobundo, but he was at a loss on how to best help his comrades to heal the Maelstrom. Aggra believes Thrall's is restless because he's longing for the Horde, a notion angrily denied by Thrall. Thrall decides to leave the sanctuary of Maelstrom to try and gain some clarity on his new life's purpose.
In another corner of Azeroth, events were happening beyond Thrall's control, with the Twilight's Hammer taking over Wyrmrest Temple in Dragonblight. Alexstrasza's consort, the red dragon Korialstrasz, apparently led the Twilight Hammer there, betraying the Wyrmrest Accord, destroying the sanctums within Wyrmrest Temple and destroying all the unhatched dragon eggs in the process. Disappointed by the actions of Korialstrasz, Alexstrasza disbanded the Wyrmrest Accord and fled Dragonblight. Ysera, the Aspect of Dreams and Alexstrasza's younger sister witnessed the event and appeared before Thrall in her humanoid form, resembling a Night Elf.
Aiding the Sentinels
Ysera asks Thrall to aid a camp in Feralas that was being attacked by a rampant fire elemental. Thrall had his doubts as to why a Shaman needed at the Maelstrom would take such a small task but accepted it once he learned of Ysera's true identity. Thrall and his frost wolf, Snowsong, set to Feralas, only to discover that the camp was composed of Night Elf Sentinels. After some minor hostility with the Elves, Thrall manages to convince the elemental to leave the camp in peace, the elemental's attitude being similar to the one he faced in Orgrimmar during Garrosh's feast. The Sentinels hailed Thrall as a hero, and he spent the evening feasting with them as a friend.
On the next day, Thrall was approached by a Night Elf named Desharin, who urged him to go to the woodlands of Feralas. After Thrall communes with the relieved ancients of Feralas, Desharin reveals himself as a green dragon, announcing Ysera had a much bigger task for Thrall and only Thrall. Desharin brings Thrall to the Caverns of Time in Tanaris, where they're allowed entrance on Ysera's behalf. In the Caverns, Thrall and Desharin are attacked by a human wearing strangely familiar armor - The human beheaded Desharin and battled with Thrall. The human is able to match Thrall's abilities and showed a strange mastery over time, manipulating it to dodge and deal devastating blows to Thrall. The Bronze Dragonflight interferes, and Thrall is told to flee through a time portal. Thrall cannot help but feel like he has met with this attacker before.
An Alternate Timeline
Thrall emerged from the time portal, finding himself in an alternate timeline during the Second War. Thrall goes over the possibilities of what he can do there, but he is reminded the timeline must be preserved. After exploring a bit, Thrall is mistaken as a warlock and taken by an orcish patrol, and taken to a base camp. In this camp, Thrall catches a glimpse of Doomhammer and his parents, Durotan and Draka. After struggling to not stare at them for too long, Draka approaches Thrall, with a baby Go'el in her arms. After an awkward conversation with Draka, Thrall is escorted to safety with his parents by the patrol, but he finds out this is the patrol that betrayed Doomhammer and killed his parents. Thrall is forced to watch as his parents are murdered in cold blood, as to not meddle with the timeline, but he joins the fray and kills all but one Orc from the patrol after their parents are killed.
Thrall runs to a dying Durotan and swears his child would leave, and the Orcs would be redeemed, receiving a land of their own. Durotan dies in peace with that knowledge, and Desharin's murderer appears once more, attacking Thrall once more. The murderer mentions that he wanted to kill Thrall at all costs, and doing so as a child would be much easier than an adult. Thrall sees Blackmoore approaching the baby Go'el, as it happened in the present timeline, and he hurled the attacker into a river. After they struggled a bit, Thrall is ported to another point in time.
In this new timeline, Thrall finds an older Taretha, seemingly embittered by a harsh life. After he convinces Taretha of who he is, thanks to the necklace he obtained from the original timeline, Taretha informs that in that timeline, Thrall died as a child. Blackmoore, who was robbed of his future prize-winning gladiator, sobered up, hired and trained mercenaries all by himself. With a massive army, Blackmoore led his armies against Orgrim Doomhammer and defeated the Orc on one-on-one combat. However, instead of killing Doomhammer, Blackmoore engaged in a secret pact with him - To unite the Orcs with Blackmoore's army and overthrow the Alliance. In that timeline, Blackmoore's army combined with the savage Orcs managed to overthrow Lordaeron and kill King Terenas Menethil, Anduin Lothar and Uther the Lightbringer.
Thrall is unable to believe that Blackmoore, who he knew as a pathetic drunkard, manage to achieve so much in an alternate timeline. Thrall and Taretha travel to Dalaran and engage in an audience with Krasus. Thrall presents the ancient's acorn he obtained during the journey to the present timeline's Feralas, and Krasus assisted Thrall and Taretha on finding a way to break that false timeline. They all realized that not only the timeline they were on was false, but time itself was creating an illusion. With this knowledge, Thrall manages to leave the timeline and meet the Aspect of Time, Nozdormu.
Reuniting the Dragonflights
Nozdormu pieces all the conflicts happening in both present and alternate timelines, and informed Thrall that he had retreated from the world in order to stop an event that would happen in the future - Nozdormu founding and ruling over the Infinite Dragonflight. Nozdormu also admits that he was the one who sent the assassin after Thrall, who realizes the mysterious human was, in fact, the missing Blackmoore from the alternate timeline. Nozdormu then thanks Thrall for giving him clarity, and sends him to his next task - To comfort Alexstrasza after Krasus' demise.
Thrall and the bronze dragon Tick set to find Alexstrasza, who is hiding in the barren wastelands of Desolace. Alexstrasza banishes Thrall from her sight, and although Thrall is not willing to give up on the Aspect of Life, he sets to his next mission in Coldarra.
Thrall arrives in the Nexus and is coldly received by the blue dragonflight, but is given an audience with Arygos and Kalecgos. Kalecgos tries to make the Nexus seem more welcoming to Thrall by invoking orcish scenery, but Arygos remains cold, even going so far as to demand Thrall's death. Thrall learns that the blue dragonflight is electing their next aspect, to take over the position formerly held by Malygos, the most likely candidates being Arygos and Kalecgos.
The blue dragonflight elects their new leader once an event called The Embrace happens - When both of Azeroth's moons, Blue Lady and White Child, meet in a position similar to a mother embracing its child. This is a sacred event for the blue dragonflight, and the best possible time to elect a new Aspect. To Thrall's relief, Kalecgos is chosen as the new Aspect of Magic, and while the blue dragonflight is pleased with this decision, Arygos calls them fools and flees Coldarra.
As the celebrations of the new Aspect of Magic begin, Twilight dragons arrive in Coldarra to interrupt the ceremony. Thrall hops on Kalecgos' back, and the duo proves to be a brutal fighting force, dispatching several dragons. After the twilight dragons are mostly defeated, Kalecgos gives the order for the blue dragons to chase the remaining few who were fleeing away from the scene. Arriving in Wyrmrest Temple, finding a semi-functional Chromatus, a chromatic dragon with several different colored heads. Arygos is killed and his blood used to fuel Chromatus, who is now fully functional, and easily chews through the blue dragons. Thrall is thrown off Kalecgos, but manages to land safely in the snows of Dragonblight. Upon calling the elements, he is granted a new vision - Krasus was killed while attempting to stop the eggs below Wyrmrest Temple to become corrupted and born as chromatic dragons.

After this vision, Blackmoore arrives once more to attack Thrall. This time, Thrall combines his shamanistic prowess with Doomhammer, catching Blackmoore off-guard, who is struck by a wind vortex and collapses on the floor. As Thrall approaches Blackmoore, the human begs for his life. Thrall refuses to acknowledge him and kills Blackmoore. Although Thrall took no pleasure on the act, he knew he had finally defeated the shadow Blackmoore brought upon his life.
Meanwhile, the blue dragons are struggling in the fight against Chromatus, Kalecgos himself getting tired as time goes on. Kalecgos has one of his drakes rescue Thrall, and Thrall attempts to go to Desolace once more, telling Kalecgos to stay strong in the face of adversity.
The Battle Against Chromatus
Thrall finds Alexstrasza once more, even more depressed than before. He then shares his vision with the Aspect of Life, and the two witness Krasus' heroic sacrifice. The vision emboldens Alexstrasza, and the Life-Binder travels to the Nexus to join forces with the blue dragonflight. Soon, both red, blue and green dragonflights are engaged in the battle against Chromatus, but he eventually reaches his full potential and overpowers the three aspects.
As all seemed lost, Nozdormu arrives with the bronze dragonflight, and the Aspect of Time theorizes that since Chromatus had characteristics from all Aspects, they would need to work together to defeat the mighty beast. Chromatus has a head representing each dragonflight, and Thrall chooses to take on the role of the Aspect of Earth, originally assigned to the black dragonflight. The Aspects change to their humanoid forms and begin bonding with Thrall to gain a sense of unity, and although Thrall struggles to hold the ceremony together, they manage to gain unity with Thrall holding Neltharion's original position. Thrall thinks that although he could never become the Aspect of Earth, he was still useful in the Aspects' time of need.
Combining their powers, Thrall and the Aspects launch a barrage of powerful abilities at Chromatus, who is unable to counter all of them at the same time. Chromatus is blasted to the ground, together with the Twilight Father, the leader of the Twilight's Hammer. Kalecgos has the blue dragonflight create a special arcane prison to hold Chromatus' lifeless body, as the Aspects were unable to destroy him.
Shackles of the Past
Some time later, the Aspects meet Thrall atop Wyrmrest Temple. Nozdormu informs them that the Old Gods were planning on ushering the Hour of Twilight to destroy the dragonflights, and thanks to Thrall's help, they were now ready to face them in unison. Thrall is given a scale of each one of the Aspects. In return, Thrall only asked for them to help him return to the Maelstrom. Tick returns and brings Thrall back.
In the Maelstrom, Thrall and Aggra meet once more, overcoming their past differences. Thrall acknowledges to Aggra that he has been a slave to his past for his entire life, and wants to see that end. With the greater trials being only ahead of Thrall, he casts off his slave name, now being known as just Go'el.
Rage of the Firelands
Writer's Note: From this point forward, Thrall is usually referred to as Go'el in most sources - But for the sake of preventing confusion for the readers (as Go'el is still usually called Thrall in-game), Go'el will be referred as Thrall for the rest of the article.
Thrall pushes himself to his limit while attempting to further commune with the elements. He is able to feel how broken the world is, and as the elements remain silent to him, Aggra tells him he needs to work even further to fulfill his task. As Thrall ponders as to why the elements are silent, his calls are finally answered - by the elemental lord of fire, Ragnaros.
Ragnaros grants Thrall a chaotic vision of the Firelands, saying that his flames will engulf the World Tree of Nordrassil and the world beyond it, and showing Orgrimmar washed over in a tsunami of fire as the Hour of Twilight approaches. Ragnaros then laughs at Thrall and disappears, leaving the Orc dismayed. As he tells Aggra what he saw, Aggra assures that this is not the end, and they begin preparations to travel to Mount Hyjal.
The Druids of the Cenarion Circle had stopped the first invasion of Hyjal by Ragnaros and the Twilight's Hammer, with some of the vegetation in Hyjal devastated by the Twilight's Hammer starting to grow once more (
艾森娜的奇迹
). The Earthen Ring and the Cenarion Circle called for a meeting in Nordrassil, wanting to talk about the future. This encounter included Thrall and Aggra, as well as Malfurion Stormrage, the Dragon Aspects and the adventurers who helped save Hyjal (
救世萨满的召唤
).
However, the Nordrassil summit ended up in tragedy, as a member of the Twilight's Hammer crashed the meeting and struck Thrall down, causing his spirit to be shattered into four pieces and sent into the different domains of the Elemental Plane. The Aspects concede that this means Thrall is likely lost to the elements forever, but Aggra challenges this notion, wanting to do everything in her power to bring Thrall back (
诺达希尔之巅
). Aggra, together with adventurers, set to free Thrall in all four Elemental Plane domains - Skywall, Abyssal Maw, Deepholm and Firelands.
It is also discovered that Thrall's assailant was none other than Archdruid Fandral Staghelm, now loyal to Ragnaros and Deathwing. Fandral wanted Thrall out of the picture and tried to take him out in the best way he could - Not by killing the World-Shaman, but by using his strong bond to the elements against him. Nevertheless, Aggra, together with adventurers, set to free Thrall in all four Elemental Plane domains - Skywall, Abyssal Maw, Deepholm and Firelands.
In Skywall, Thrall battles with his doubts about leaving the Horde to Garrosh, and that he is not strong enough to help the Earthen Ring, or even worthy of Aggra's nature (
元素誓约:疑惑
). In the Abyssal Maw, Thrall battles with the desire of everlasting peace between the Horde and the Alliance, with a vision of him submitting the Horde to Varian and leaving all positions of leadership to start a family with Aggra (
元素誓约:渴望
). In Deepholm, he is frozen in stone to show his patience and determination (
元素誓约:耐心
). And finally, in Firelands, Thrall faces his unhinged rage - Against Gul'dan, for planning the murder of his parents; Blackmoore, for raising him as a slave; Varian, for openly declaring war against the Horde; and Garrosh, for his role in the death of his old friend Cairne (
元素誓约:怒火
).
Thrall's essence is eventually restored, and as Go'el, Son of Durotan, he proclaims his love for Aggra and asks her to become his life-mate (
元素誓约:誓言
).
Thrall: In the face of the cataclysm, I've seen how truly fleeting our lives can be. And I, for one, will not waste another second of mine.
Aggra: What are you saying, Go'el? What is in your heart?
Thrall: Aggra... though I was not born on Draenor, I have always tried to honor the traditions of our ancestors...
Thrall: I stand before you - Go'el, Son of Durotan, Son of Garad... and if you would have me, I would be your life-mate.
Thrall: For so as long as I live, I will stand at your side, as you stood in mine...
Aggra: I stand before you - Aggralan, daughter of Ryal, daughter of Sarrak... and I will proudly be your mate, Go'el... In this world or any other.
Charge of the Aspects
Thrall and the Dragon Aspects, including the recently elevated Kalecgos, united to debate on how to defeat Deathwing. Thrall communed with Azeroth and took on an earthen form, and during this communion, he found Deathwing, using the power of the Old Gods to keep his spirit imprisoned. Deathwing proceeded to mock Thrall, saying the Aspects were trying to replace the Earth-Warder with him and that was not really a blessing, but a curse. Deathwing then made Thrall experience having the literal weight of the world on his shoulders, saying that the Aspects were only looking to send Thrall into a lifetime of damnation.
Not satisfied with the torment he was already inflicting unto Thrall, Deathwing then launched a series of attacks on Thrall's earthen form. As Thrall was embraced by Azeroth herself, his wounds were materializing in Azeroth in the form of earthquakes. Eventually, the Aspects managed to break Thrall from Deathwing's hold with the help of the Cenarion Circle and the Earthen Ring.
Seeing what Deathwing did, the Aspects decided that the only way they could possibly defeat the Destroyer was to obtain the Dragon Soul. As the Dragon Soul had an enchantment preventing dragonkin from ever using the artifact, Thrall was called to be the wielder of the artifact against Deathwing. They also had to use the Dragon Soul's purest form, which would be shortly after its creation during the War of the Ancients, so they would need to travel through time to retrieve the artifact.
Hour of Twilight
After Ragnaros is defeated in the Firelands, the Aspects charged Thrall with going through the Caverns of Time to recover the Dragon Soul and, once again, take the Earth-Warden's position. Thrall, with the help of adventurers, managed to give end to a chaotic future timeline where Nozdormu is corrupted and creates the Infinite Dragonflight (
姆诺兹多
) and recovered the Dragon Soul from the past during the War of the Ancients (
通往巨龙之魂的道路
).
With the Dragon Soul in tow, Thrall made his way to Wyrmrest Temple with the adventurers (
进军龙眠神殿!
), fighting through an Old God-infested Dragonblight and eventually reaching the Twilight Prophet himself, also known as Archbishop Benedictus. After the Twilight Prophet is dealt with, Thrall then leaves to prepare for the final battle against Deathwing (
暮光先知
).
Fall of Deathwing
Thrall makes his way to Wyrmrest Temple once more after adventurers conquer the temple from the Twilight's Hammer. After they fend off an attack from the Twilight Dragonflight on the top of Wyrmrest Temple, Thrall aids the adventurers with killing the massive Twilight dragon, Ultraxion. After Ultraxion falls to his death, Thrall unleashes the power of the Dragon Soul directly into Deathwing, injuring the corrupted Aspect. Thrall destroys the Horde gunship and flees to the Maelstrom, with the Dragon Aspects, Thrall and the adventurers chasing him using the Alliance gunship.
They eventually manage to reach Deathwing and jump onto his back, dodging his rolls and removing his elementium plating, allowing Thrall to blast Deathwing again with the Dragon Soul. After the second blast, Deathwing fell into the Maelstrom, seemingly defeated.
As Thrall and the Dragon Aspects start rejoicing at the apparent end of the Destroyer, he rose from the Maelstrom once more, the chaotic whirlpool turning Deathwing into an unrecognizable mass of great power. Working together with the Aspects, the adventurers manage to weaken Deathwing for Thrall to blast the corrupted Aspect with the Dragon Soul once more, this time obliterating Deathwing for good. This final blast was combined with the full might of the Aspects, which expended their immortal souls. As Thrall feels the awakening of the elements once more, Alexstrasza reveals that the Aspects had finally completed their mission, losing their ancient powers. She also revealed that Aggra was pregnant, to Thrall's absolute joy.
Tides of War
After Deathwing's defeat, Thrall was appointed the leader of the Earthen Ring by Muln Earthfury. Some time after, Thrall met with Jaina in secret, with Jaina urging Thrall to reign in Garrosh's bloodthirsty ways. Thrall kept his beliefs that his work with the Earthen Ring is too important to abandon because of the Horde. Thrall then changed the subject to Aggra, hoping for Jaina to maybe one day find a mate for herself. Jaina retorted that after Kael'thas Sunstrider and Arthas Menethil, love interests who turned extremely sour, Jaina is better suited looking for friends rather than love.
After the fall of Northwatch Hold and the destruction of Theramore, Eitrigg sent a courier looking for Thrall at the Maelstrom. Thrall told the courier to read the message in public because he thought the Earthen Ring deserved to hear it. The members of the Earthen Ring were horrified to learn that molten giants were enslaved and used for the siege on Northwatch Hold, and how a mana bomb was used to brutally decimate Theramore. Everyone believed that no one survived the mana bomb, including Jaina herself. Nobundo told Thrall that the Earthen Ring would understand if Thrall were to return the Horde and their works would continue without him, but Thrall retorted that to him, nothing was more important than healing Azeroth from the Cataclysm. Even if Jaina's ghost were to haunt him, he would still not return to the Horde.
Soon later, Thrall noticed their efforts to heal Azeroth were not being as effective as before. As Thrall went to consult with Muln Earthfury, he witnessed a vision of Orgrimmar being flooded by a tsunami of water elementals. While witnessing the vision, water elementals appeared and told Thrall they did not want to carry on with the did, as they wouldn't want to be enslaved for all eternity. When Thrall asked who was the person attempting to enslave them, they showed Thrall a vision of Fray Island, of the coast of The Barrens. Earthfury wanted to go with Thrall and aid him, but Nobundo said that as Thrall was the only one who received the vision, he was the only one who should go. Thrall then made preparations to depart to The Barrens.
Upon arriving at Fray Island, Thrall saw Jaina very much alive, to his immediate delight. However, this happiness soon turned to terror, as he realized Jaina was the one using the water elementals to destroy Orgrimmar. Thrall tried to reason with Jaina, who swiftly blamed Thrall for the destruction of Theramore, as he was the one who put Garrosh in charge and did not reign the Warchief in when asked. Thrall was dismayed by Jaina's words, telling her she did blame himself, but she did not need to kill everyone in Orgrimmar for revenge. Jaina replied that Daelin Proudmoore was right in his beliefs that Orcs were nothing but monsters as she prepared a massive tsunami.
Thrall called upon Air Elementals to keep the tsunami at bay and discovered that Jaina was in possession of the Focusing Iris from the Blue Dragonflight, using it to power up the natural disaster. Thrall tied to reason with Jaina, understanding why she was in pain, but she was still not justified in wanting to kill innocent lives. Jaina, in response, attacked Thrall, attempting to kill him. Thrall could not bring himself to attack his old friend and continued to try to reason with her, saying that she needs to attack Garrosh and not the Orcs with bright futures ahead of them. Jaina bitterly said that those who died in Theramore had lost their futures, and she sent the tsunami in Orgrimmar's direction with all her power.
With the help of the Spirits of Air, Thrall was able to keep the tsunami in check but was at the mercy of Jaina. Thrall would not let go of the tsunami, telling Jaina that she would have to kill him for her to strike Orgrimmar. As Jaina began to channel massive arcane energies, the blue dragon Kalecgos appeared and joined Thrall in saying that if Jaina went through with the tsunami, she would turn back on everything that was right. When Jaina said that she was only doing what she believed was right, Kalecgos said that so did Arthas when he culled the city of Stratholme. Jaina was shocked at the revelation, and Kalecgos continued, saying that Arthas did not act with hatred in his heart, and wondering if she wanted to be remembered as another Arthas, or even another Garrosh.
Still, in shock, Jaina's hatred stopped guiding her, and she said she had enslaved hundreds of water elementals to compose the massive tsunami, and she would use said elementals to protect the Alliance. To her, as long as Garrosh remained Warchief, Thrall and the Horde were now considered sworn enemies to her.
Thrall was able to move once more once the tsunami broke into hundreds of water elementals. Thrall said that Jaina would not regret her decision in her heart, with Jaina saying that Thrall did not know her heart anymore. After realizing that his friendship with Jaina was all but gone, he pondered that the coming war would possibly change Azeroth even more than the Cataclysm. Thrall pledged to continue attempting to heal Azeroth and, wishing that he and Jaina would still depart as friends, Thrall returned to the Maelstrom to continue working with the Earthen Ring.
Mists of Pandaria
Thrall's participation in Mists of Pandaria is reduced, although he remains an important character in the Horde side.
Landfall in Pandaria
After fully healing the Maelstrom with the help of the Earthen Ring, Thrall wished to finally resign from politics and live the rest of his life in peace, training young Shaman in Durotar with Aggra and their newborn son, Durak. However, this peace was short-lived, as he was roped back into politics as Garrosh attempted to murder Vol'jin (
黑暗中的匕首
).
Vol'jin narrowly survives the assassination attempt, and after recovering thanks to the help of Chen Stormstout and Horde adventurers (
必须见的人
), Vol'jin has the adventurers search for Thrall to save the Echo Isles from Garrosh's tyranny. After players reach Thrall thanks to a special Hearthstone Vol'jin gives them (
寻找萨尔!
), Thrall leaves for the Echo Isles, talking about how his vision of the Horde was still the same as he had when Durotar was nothing but a peninsula of quillboar (
部落即家庭
).
As Thrall arrives on the Echo Isles, he finds it under Garrosh's martial law, filled with Kor'kron guards. After the Kor'kron Guards are defeated, Thrall takes control of the Echo Isles, stating that this is the best he could do at the moment, as challenging Garrosh right now would be ill-advised. Thrall continues to confer with Vol'jin before making any moves, as the Darkspear leader remains in hiding (
反制
).
Escalation
After Vol'jin returns to Durotar, Thrall ventures to Sen'jin Village and reunites with their old friend, Chen Stormstout. With the three of them reunited, Vol'jin starts the Darkspear Rebellion, and once again defends the Echo Isles from Garrosh's Kor'kron forces (
). With Sen'jin Village secure once more, Vol'jin wants to start moving towards Orgrimmar by attacking Razor Hill, but Thrall wants to instead journey to Orgrimmar to find any dissidents that would want to join the rebellion. Vol'jin is worried that Thrall will be killed should he enter Orgrimmar, but Thrall wants to do it anyway. Thrall asks for Vol'jin to look over Aggra and his son Durak while he's out, and he travels to Orgrimmar (
).
Vol'jin: Regroup! We press da advantage. Before da Warchief fortifies Razor Hill, we take it for da revolution, an' close off da road to da Barrens.
Vol'jin: Anyone who can still fight, come wit' me!
Thrall: Wait Vol'jin. Horde is spilling Horde blood. It is tearing me apart.
Vol'jin: We need ya, mon.
Thrall: I know. I trust you to lead the siege. I am needed elsewhere.
Thrall: I refuse to believe that all of my brethren support Garrosh.
Vol'jin: Ya set one foot in Orgrimmar, Hellscream gonna bury a knife in ya neck!
Thrall: I am going to Orgrimmar, alone. Eitrigg, Saurfang, surely they are standing against Garrosh. I must find others.
Thrall: Its a risk I have to take. But if I am killed, please watch over Aggra and my boy.
Vol'jin: I won't hear ya say such tings.
Thrall: It has to be said Vol'jin. If we do not make it through this - I want you to know. You have always been my friend. My brother.
Vol'jin: For da Horde.
Thrall: For the Horde.
Siege of Orgrimmar
Thrall, together with Varok Saurfang, attempted to enter Orgrimmar, only to be stopped by General Nazgrim and the Kor'kron Guard. Nazgrim then sent the Kor'kron away and allowed entrance into Orgrimmar for the two, although he did not guarantee their safety while in the city. Thrall and Saurfang managed to venture into the Underhold and facing the Mantid, but Saurfang ended up badly hurt in the confrontation. Saurfang urged Thrall to move forward without him, and Thrall eventually reached Garrosh's throne room.
When confronting Garrosh, the Warchief said that his dark shaman managed to corrupt the land around them, leaving Thrall unable to call the elements. Still, Thrall charged Garrosh, who swiftly defeated him in melee combat. As Thrall recovered, adventurers joined the rumble and eventually managed to defeat the Warchief.
Thrall: It is not too late Garrosh. Lay down the mantle of Warchief, we can end this here, now, with no more bloodshed.
Garrosh Hellscream: Ha! Do you remember nothing of Honor? Of glory on the battlefield? You who would parlay with the humans, who allowed warlocks to practice their dark magics right under our feet. You are weak.
Garrosh Hellscream: We are the Orcish Horde, the True Horde. We die, bloody and thrashing on the field of battle, like true orcs SHOULD.
Garrosh Hellscream: You are an Orc no longer, and speak for none but yourself. You betrayed our people to forge your fragile alliances and I will take great pleasure in tearing them apart.
Thrall: Then you have forced my hand. I will correct the mistake I made long ago! Spirits of the wind, the earth, the water, hear my call! Come to my aid!
---
Garrosh Hellscream: Fool. My dark shaman have twisted and tortured the elements for miles around. They cannot hear you now. Once again you proved too weak and powerless to do anything.
Thrall: Never powerless, Garrosh. And never alone.
Garrosh Hellscream: So, you wish to face off against a real Orc Warchief. So be it.
As Garrosh fell defeated, Thrall attempted to execute him by using Doomhammer, only to be stopped by Varian, who said Garrosh's punishment was not his to decide alone. Taran Zhu, leader of the Shado-Pan in Pandaria, then intervenes to say that Garrosh should be judged in Pandaria, the land he desecrated so much with his atrocities. Both Thrall and Varian agreed and stood down.
As Garrosh is chained up and subdued, Vol'jin tells Thrall that they needed their true Warchief now more than ever, but Thrall pointed out that Vol'jin was the one who managed to keep the Horde together through the struggle. Thrall then said that wherever Vol'jin would go, he would follow, and Vol'jin is elected the new Warchief of the Horde.
War Crimes
As the Horde gathered together to decide who would defend Garrosh, Thrall said that he has admitted the Tauren for their nobility ever since he met Cairne for the first time, and suggested for his son, Baine Bloodhoof, to be Garrosh's defender. Baine initially declined due to believing he would be too biased, as Garrosh was partially responsible for the death of his father, but after Vol'jin's help, he accepted the position, promising to be fair no matter what happened during the trial.
During the trial's fourth day, the Alliance prosecutor, Tyrande Whisperwind, called Thrall as a witness. Tyrande questioned Thrall about his past up until the moment where he appointed Garrosh as Warchief of the Horde, and they witnessed a vision conjured by Chromie of when Thrall did it. Thrall realized that although Tyrande was ruthless in her accusations, Baine's examination on the trial would likely be even more grueling.
When Baine started his examination, he asked Thrall whether he believed Garrosh was a threat to his vision as to what the Horde was. After that, Baine called for Kairozdormu, a Bronze Dragonflight agent, to show them a vision of Thrall slaying Blackmoore. Before Thrall killed his captor, Thrall had given him a sword, so that Blackmoore had a chance to fight equally and die with honor. Baine then asked Thrall why did Garrosh not receive the same sympathy, as Thrall was ready to execute him without consulting with anyone else at the end of the Siege for Orgrimmar. Baine's examination led to commotion in the Temple of the White Tiger, and reservations from Tyrande.
Taran Zhu then asked for Baine to make his point, and Baine asked for Kairozdormu to show another vision - This time, of the time when Thrall was captured by the Druids of the Flame led by Fandral Staghelm, when Thrall's essence was shattered within the four Elemental Planes. This vision showed Thrall divided, regretting things such as the death of Cairne. Then another vision was shown, this time of when Thrall was about to travel to Nagrand before the Shattering. Thrall and Cairne were talking about Garrosh, with Cairne saying it was not a good idea to make Garrosh Warchief at such a young age, and the conversation ended in both of them arguing as Thrall went through the Dark Portal. After these visions, Baine said that Garrosh had also made many mistakes, and asked Thrall if he would still try to kill Garrosh if he were able to go back in time to that very moment. Thrall, surprised by Baine's thorough examination, said that he would not.
After Baine's examination was done, Tyrande still had one vision to show, claiming this was one of the possible endings to the world, had Thrall chosen differently through his time with Garrosh. This time, it was a vision of the End Time, where only Twilight dragons were alive, and Deathwing was impaled atop a destroyed Wyrmrest Temple.
As Garrosh was to be sentenced a couple of days after, he escaped together with Kairozdormu with the help of the Vision of Time. As Garrosh and Kairoz left, the time portal unleashed many alternate versions of the people present on the trial, including one of Thrall - Donning human armor and a Blackmoore tabard, this was a version of Thrall from a timeline where Blackmoore's plans of raising Thrall as a slave had come to fruition, with Thrall never escaping Durnholde Keep. Go'el, the Thrall from our timeline and the alternate Thrall fought, but the Thrall from the true timeline had the advantage thanks to his training with the spirits in the ways of shamanism.
As Thrall and the others defeated their alternate versions, the August Celestial Xuen proclaimed that they had to learn to accept these alternate versions of themselves. Thrall saw that everyone else also won their battles, but Varian burst in carrying a mortally wounded Jaina, who was wounded by the Blackrock Clan Orcs led by Warlord Zaela during the struggle. Thrall, Aggra, Anduin, Tyrande, and Velen all attempted to heal Jaina, but they were not able to do as they were exhausted from their battles and Jaina's wound was really serious. Thrall realized that Jaina would likely die that day and he couldn't think of anything worse than that. Aggra embraced Thrall as everyone had given up on Jaina but Anduin, who was still desperately healing her aunt.
As the mood in the room became somber, the August Celestial Chi-Ji hovered above them, saying that their lessons had finally been remembered by the room. Chi-Ji then cast a wave of healing, and Thrall looked down to see Jaina fully healed. As Jaina opened her eyes, she reached for a hand and grabbed Thrall's.
Thrall was confused as to why the August Celestials did not seem distraught that Garrosh escaped their trial. Taran Zhu then told Thrall that their verdict was that they decided that Garrosh would live, so he would continue to learn. Taran Zhu also said that the trial was not only for Garrosh but everyone involved, a fact that Thrall accepted. The August Celestials then appeared, saying that they were all judged, and they must go back to their homes and do what they must. As everyone turned towards Thrall, even though he was not a leader of the Horde anymore, he said they would find Garrosh and he would meet justice once and for all.
Warlords of Draenor
As Garrosh travels back through time and finds a way back to Azeroth with new allies in the form of the Iron Horde, Thrall makes it his mission to defeat the Warchief for good.
The Irontide
When the Dark Portal turns head due to the invasion of the Iron Horde, Thrall leads the Horde forces to help stop them invading Azeroth through the Blasted Lands (
钢铁部落的入侵
). Thrall joins the denizens of Okrilla against the Ironmarch and their news allies, the Dreadmaul Ogres (
铲除巨槌
). Ultimately, Thrall assists adventurers with killing the leader of the Ironmarch invasion,
加玛克·折刃
, and then stays there to continue the effort against the Iron Horde while sending adventurers to report back to Vol'jin (
警告奥格瑞玛
).
Entering the Dark Portal, Again
Thrall participated in the assault against the Dark Portal, being one of the first to enter the portal leading to a Draenor 35 years in the past (
德拉诺之王:黑暗之门
). In Draenor, Thrall assisted with the battle against the Iron Horde in Tanaan Jungle, disabling the Dark Portal (
传送门的能量
) and freeing prisoners of the Iron Horde, including the Farseer Drek'thar of the alternate timeline (
潜在的盟友
). As the adventurers together with Thrall and their team escaped the Umbral Halls, Thrall used his powers to bless the equipment of the dissenting Frostwolf Clan and Draenei prisoners, and they battled against the Iron Horde (
锻炉大战
). During this time, adventurers find and free an elder from the Frostwolf Clan (
霜狼氏族的贾纳尔
).
When the portal was destroyed thanks to the efforts of a dark iron engineer hijacking the Worldbreaker, a massive tank, Thrall then ran to the boats with the Frostwolf prisoners (
冲刺阶段
), hijacking a boat from the Iron Horde. Ga'nar was able to lead the ship all their way to their home zone of Frostfire Ridge, but as he was not the best navigator, they crashed on the shores of Frostfire (
霜狼氏族的家园
). Thrall then met the Durotan of the alternate Draenor, who provides the Horde with a piece of land in Frostfire Ridge (
狼群与战士
). Thrall then had the adventurers summon Gazlowe to help build a Garrison for the Horde using the piece of land Durotan gave them (
为了部落!
).
After the Horde had their foothold in Draenor built, Thrall and an adventurer went to Wor'gol to talk more with Durotan (
狼穴
). While in Wor'gol, Thrall notices a Shamanstone, and he talked to Drek'thar, feeling that the spirits of Draenor do talk to him, albeit in a language he could not understand just yet (
荣誉的嘉奖
).
Farseer Drek'Thar: Come, friends. If you wish to fight with our clan, we welcome you to receive our blessings.
Farseer Drek'Thar: Reach out to the Shamanstone. Embrace the wisdom of this land and the ancestors that came before us.
Thrall: I can feel it. This land speaks to me, but in a language I do not yet understand.
Farseer Drek'Thar: I am still scarred by those infernal warlocks. The spirits are quiet.
Thrall: The spirits will never abandon you, Drek'Thar. This I promise.
Durotan then decided that it was time to end the ogre threat in Frostfire, and Thrall assisted him with taking Bladespire Hold (
召集霜狼
). Thrall initially helps by invoking tornadoes to weaken the ogres, tiring Thrall out but allowing the Frostwolves to invade the Hold uncontested (
戈莫尔塔楼
). As the Frostwolves were taking over Bladespire Hold, Thrall stayed behind to help heal injured Frostwolves, and as Durotan took Bladespire for the Frostwolves, Thrall stayed with him in the throne room for a while (
).
Sometime later, Thrall returned to the Horde garrison, where he found Draka. Draka then engages in quick conversation with Thrall, asking whether he had a mate, and chastises him when he mentioned Aggra was left behind to take care of his child (
卷土重来
).
Draka: You fight with much experience, Thrall. Why don't you have a mate?
Thrall: I do. I saw that my mate remained behind to care for our little ones.
Draka: You... told her to stay? This is war! More than ever, this is where family belongs at your side!
Thrall: I... never looked at it that way.
Draka: What a strange green orc you are.
However, the Frostwolves had another problem: The Thunderlord Clan, who declared open war on the Frostwolves. Thrall helped the Frostwolves during their final conflict, in Thunder Pass. During this battle, Thrall used his powers to help destroy Thunderlord cannons and was commended by the alternate timeline Drek'thar, to which Thrall answered he had the best teacher of them all: his timeline's Drek'thar. Ultimately, the Frostwolves won the war, thanks to the heroic sacrifice of Ga'nar (
雷霆小径之战
).
Durotan: We can't fight with this cannon fire coming down. Thrall! <player>! Take care of that tank!
Thrall: Dabu!
---
Farseer Drek'Thar: You fight like no shaman I have never seen.
Thrall: I was taught by the best... Drek'Thar.
Farseer Drek'Thar: You should tell your teacher to rely less on your hammer, and more on his brains.
Thrall: He'd be pleased to hear you say that.
Final Showdown with Garrosh
Thrall is seen sometime later in Nagrand, this time, together with Aggra once more. They had traveled together with Farseer Drek'thar, who went there to consult with the furies of Draenor. As the threats of the Warsong clan, the Burning Blade clan, and the ogres were dealt with, Durotan arrived to aid Thrall with the last showdown against Grommashar, where Garrosh was leading the Iron Horde from (
攻占洛克拉斯
).
As Durotan and the adventurer encountered Garrosh, Thrall suddenly entered the fray, demanding another mak'gora with Garrosh. Garrosh agreed, and the two fought once more at the Stones of Prophecy, the place where Garadar would be built in the main timeline's Nagrand. As the duel went on, Garrosh mocked Thrall, blamed him for what he had turned, and even destroyed the beads from Thrall's vestments. As Garrosh started gaining the upper hand once more, Thrall called upon the elements, who enveloped Garrosh in a stone fist, and a massive lightning bolt finally ended Garrosh's life once and for all (
为萨尔伸张正义
).
Legion
Thrall has minor participation through Legion, appearing only at the starter scenario and during the Shaman Order Hall campaign.
Battle for Broken Shore
Thrall was one of the leaders of the ground troops during
破碎海滩之战
, together with Vol'jin. They led the Horde troops to Sylvanas and Baine, who were holding off the demons, and together with the Alliance, they managed to kill the demon Krosus. Although the combined might of the Horde and the Alliance eventually got to Gul'dan, they were overwhelmed by the Burning Legion, resulting in the deaths of Varian Wrynn and Vol'jin.
Shaman Order Hall
After the failed battle against the Burning Legion, Thrall reunited with Aggra and Durak in Dalaran, and he sought Shaman adventurers to join the surviving Earthen Ring forces in the Maelstrom. As they gathered in the Heart of Azeroth, the Burning Legion forces assaulted the Earthen Ring. Although their assault was stopped by the Earthen Ring, Thrall lost Doomhammer during the ensuing struggle, the mace falling into Deepholm together with the demon lord commander (
不屈的大地之环
).
Thrall and Nobundo decided that the best way to fight against the Burning Legion would be for adventurers to collect and empower artifacts to wield them against the Legion (
元素的召唤
). Thrall suggests that they retrieve Doomhammer, and together with Stormcaller Mylra, the adventurer goes to Deepholm to seek Doomhammer (
毁灭之锤的下落
). While Thrall talks with the Earthen Ring shaman that worked in Deepholm to seek clues about Doomhammer's whereabouts, he sends the adventurer to talk to Therazane, warning them that the Stonemother is easily enraged (
石母所知
).
After completing some tasks for Therazane, the adventurer was told of Doomhammer's location by the Stonemother - The Crumbling Depths. Thrall went there with the adventurer and Mylra, but was not able to participate in the battle due to being wounded from the previous Burning Legion assaults. With the help of Mylra, the adventurer managed to snatch Doomhammer from Fel Lord Geth'xun, the fel lord that led the assault to the Maelstrom and survived the fall, and used Doomhammer to defeat the demon.
However, Thrall did not want Doomhammer back, as he felt the mace was a dead weight in his hands ever since he killed Garrosh. Thrall believed that the elements were silent to him, but as a matter of fact, Doomhammer simply reflected Thrall's state of mind - Thrall was conflicted that Doomhammer, once wielded as a weapon of justice and virtue, came to represent vengeance when used to kill Garrosh. Because of this, Thrall gives Doomhammer to the adventurer, asking him to bring the Earthen Ring together against the Burning Legion (
深渊中的战锤
). After this, Thrall goes on his way.
Battle for Azeroth
Thrall goes missing for most of Legion, resurfacing during Battle for Azeroth's second major content patch.
Safe Haven
It is discovered that after the events of the beginning of Legion, Thrall went to Nagrand in Outland to live a peaceful life with Aggra and Durak. Some time after this, Thrall was approached by Saurfang, who asks Thrall to return and fight once more for the Horde. Thrall mentions that he no longer wants anything to do with politics and bloodshed and is no one's savior, but their conversation is cut short by Forsaken spies attacking them both.
After the spies are dealt with, Thrall angrily yells to Saurfang that he led the spies to his farm, but Saurfang reveals that in fact, he was following the spies, who were intent on killing Thrall. As Saurfang says that people like him and Thrall could not afford the luxury of hiding from their past lives, Thrall unearths an axe that looks similar to those crafted by the Frostwolf Clan, and he returns to Azeroth.
Rescuing Baine Bloodhoof
After Baine Bloodhoof is imprisoned by Sylvanas and his execution is ordered, Thrall returns to Orgrimmar to aid the rebel forces, led by Varok Saurfang and Lor'themar Theron, in the rescue (
).
Together with Saurfang, Thrall ventures into the Underhold, an area that Thrall had not been in since Garrosh's time, to rescue Baine. After they sneak through many Forsaken guards, they are surprised to meet with Jaina and Master Mathias Shaw, and noticed the Alliance had the same objective of rescuing Baine in mind. In an unlikely Alliance, Thrall, Saurfang, Jaina and Shaw venture deeper and eventually rescue Baine from the Underhold (
).
After Baine is rescued, the rebellion forces are ported to the outskirts of Thunder Bluff by Jaina. Jaina and Thrall then engage in conversation, with Thrall lamenting about how could not allow Baine to fall at the hands of Sylvanas, that he could not fail him as he failed Cairne, Garrosh and in a way, Jaina, with the destruction of Theramore. Jaina tells him that they all have blood in their hands, and Thrall shrives at the prospect of Sylvanas attacking Thunder Bluff in retribution.
Jaina tells Thrall that the Horde and the Alliance once stood united and because of this union, Mount Hyjal did not fall. Thrall rebutes that the Alliance and the Horde always end up at each other's throats eventually, and Jaina tells them that it would be different this time, as they were also different, older and wary of the faction war.
The Fate of the Horde
As Sylvanas abused her role as Warchief, the faction leaders and Thrall discuss the fate of the Horde in the aftermath of the Fourth War.
They all learned from the actions of both Garrosh and Sylvanas that the Horde won’t need another Warchief in what would hopefully turn out as times of peace. Starting in 8.3 and forward,
the Horde was led by a council, and Thrall was part of it

To properly perform his role on the Horde Council, Thrall moved back to Orgrimmar. At first, he thought the city would be a difficult adjustment after his time in Nagrand, but he found himself adapting with surprising ease. He took lodgings in a modest house, as a larger house would only make him feel the absence of his wife Aggra and his children, Durak and Rehze. Later, they might join him, or he might return to them if the Horde no longer needed him, but for now, he lived alone.
As the Horde's former Warchief, Thrall felt keenly how different it was to be a member of a Council rather than the supreme leader of all. It was a welcome change, and he worked hard not to slip into old habits, reminding himself often that he was not leader, and remaining silent - allowing others to speak first or to voice what might have been his own thoughts as much as possible.
When Talanji, the Zandalari queen, came to the Horde requesting vengeance against the Alliance and Jaina Proudmoore for the death of her father, Thrall remained silent for most of the meeting. Though as Jaina's friend, Thrall had no wish to see the Council vote for war, he allowed the others to speak, and was particularly grateful when Thalyssra pointed out that the newly formed armistice with the Alliance should not be endangered. However, as the meeting began to descend into chaos, Thrall still displayed leadership, merely standing silently. One by one, the other Horde leaders followed, until the arguments died down. Talanji was not impressed and stormed out. Ultimately, the Council would support her rule in Zandalar, but would not support her desires for revenge.
While in the city of Orgrimmar, an assassination attempt was made on Talanji. Zekhan, a young Troll, managed to stop the attack just in time. Thrall questioned the Troll who had attacked the Zandalari queen, but he he had already committed suicide, muttering only that "She...will know our...b-bite." When Thrall told Talanji that she should question her people as there was rarely ever only one assassin, she took offense, accusing the Horde of being to blame.
The Horde Council decided to send Zekhan to Zandalar to be an ambassador to Talanji's kingdom. When Zekhan seemed skeptical at his own ability to perform the task, Thrall pointed out that he didn't hesitate during the attack to protect the queen. He explained that Talanji's support was needed in the Council, and that Zekhan's youth, inexperience, and the fact that he had risked his life to save Talanji would all be assets. Later, he offered Zekhan some personal words of encouragement, reminding him that Saurfang saw something in him.
Around this time, Yukha, a Shaman and senior member of the Earthern Ring, traveled to Orgrimmar to tell Thrall of the problems they were having with the ancestors - who had become angry and vengeful, and were lashing out rather than offering their wisdom. Thrall resolved to travel to Nordrassil, asking Yukha to set up a meeting with Tyrande and Malfurion Stormrage - to discuss the matter. Yukha was able to set up the meeting, but he brought Thrall the news that Tyrande had insisted that Thrall "bring what is owed". Thrall took the demand seriously, knowing that Sylvanas had caused the Horde to commit genocide against Tyrande's people during the War of the Thorns, and that her rage was entirely jusitfied. He gave the matter a great deal of thought, trying to work out what Tyrande meant by "what was owed".
Thrall decided to take Calia Menethil and Baine Bloodhoof with him to the meeting - Bained understood the Earth Mother, and Calia had been working with undead Night Elves created during the War of the Thorns come to terms with their new existence. Once they reached Nordrassil, Thrall noticed a darkness lingered over the World Tree - it was a place in mourning. He warned his companions to take care with their words.
Malfurion and Tyrande were joined by Maiv Shadowsong and Shandris Feathermoon. The meeting did not go well. Thrall spoke about the troubles they were having with their ancestors and their dead, and asked if the Night Elves were experiencing similar problems, but at first, none of the Night Elves would speak. Thrall tried telling them that he had brought what was owed - and offered the sincere apology of the Horde. He explained about the formation of the Horde Council, so that no Horde member would ever have the power Sylvanas had again, and would never be able to misuse it the way she had. He also pointed out Calia, speaking of the work she had been doing with undead Night Elves. Tyrande still did not speak, and it was clear that she didn't consider Thrall's apology to be "what was owed".
Finally, Shandris and Maiv spoke, Shandris a little gentler, explaining their justified hesitation, and Maiv more forcefully, reminding Thrall that as their Warchief Sylvanas had represented the Horde. She insisted the Horde was responsible for Sylvanas's actions, and accused the Horde of using the Council to create a revisionist version of history and scatter themselves so that no one could be held accountable or take the blame. In response, Thrall argued that, while Saurfang did take part in Sylvanas's siege against Teldrassil, he was dead. Finally, Tyrande spoke, explaining what she meant by "what was owed":
“When you have washed the bodies of a thousand kaldorei burned and broken, when you have fallen to your knees and kissed the feet of a thousand mourning souls, when you look into their eyes and tell them ‘our Horde has changed’ and they believe you, only then will I accept your apology and treat you as my equal.” Tyrande’s voice, edged as steel, pulled the air out of the clearing. “My brethren here may be willing to entertain your empty pledges of justice and aid, but I know better. I have learned better.”

This speech made Thrall realize what Tyrande wanted, and he replied, promising that he would bring it to her: The head of Sylvanas Whisperwind. She acknowledged that this was her meaning, and warned that she would not speak to him again until Sylvanas was dead.
Once Thrall returned to Orgimmar, he was immediately brought an urgent message from Ji Firepaw, leader of the Horde Pandaren. The letter was from Jaina. She reported that the Alliance had learned that Dark Rangers were in Zandalar, and that Mathias Shaw, the Alliance spymaster, had been captured by Queen Talanji. Some of the Alliance suspected Talanji of conspiring with Sylvanas. Jaina requested that Thrall meet with her, worried that the armistice would be destroyed if they did not resolve these problems. Ji requested to attend the meeting as well, and helped him by telling the Horde Council about the request and arguing that they should accept. The other members of the Council were hesitant, and questioned Thrall on what he thought about the meeting, and he argued that he should attend. Between him and Ji, they were able to get a unanimous vote in favor of the meeting, which pleased Thrall, as he was unwilling to act without the Council's full support - once again showing the difference between being the one leader and being one of the leaders.
The meeting took place on neutral ground: A shipwreck between the Eastern Kingdoms and Zandalar. Ji and Thrall met with Jaina and Anduin Wrynn, High King of the Alliance. Out of respect for the armistice, Thrall informed them about his meeting with Tyrande, not wanting any great secrets between them. Anduin almost immediately began discussing the sightings of the Dark Ranger in Zandalar, and Thrall was impressed with his directness and focus - though he still found Anduin small, pink, and weak-looking. The Alliance had brought evidence of the Dark Ranger presence - their arrows and missives - and Thrall was convinced that they spoke the truth. For his part, he promised that the Horde were no more working with Sylvanas than the Alliance were. He explained that Talanji had been attacked, and asked for two days - during which he would go to Zandalar himself to investigate. Anduin agreed, and Jaina created a portal for Thrall and Ji directly to Dazar'alor, Zandalar's capital city.
As Thrall and Ji made their way through the city, they were attacked by a pair of assassins, rebels who had been targetting Talanji - though Thrall was able to fight off the attack.
Talanji was not pleased to see them. Thrall told her that he and Ji had come to help her against the rebels, and her response was angry, claiming that she already had things handled - a claim that Ji questioned, considering the attack he and Thrall had just experienced. Thrall explained about the Dark Rangers, who were supporting the rebels, and managed to convince Talanji to allow him to stay, and to accept the Horde's help.
Thrall returned to Orgrimmar to summon the Horde forces, and along with many of the Horde leaders, he took part in the final battle against the rebels - arriving just in time to support Talanji's army. Thrall, Baine, and Talanji formed the tactics for the battle together. When one of the rebels ran forward to meet them, Thrall asked her for a reason not to kill her. She replied that her name was Tayo and she could not support her leader - Apari - any longer. Tayo asked only that Apari would be given a clean and quick death, and Thrall agreed.
The rebels were indeed being assisted by Dark Rangers - along with Nathanos Blightcaller and the undead Night Elf Sira Moonwarden. Once the battle was won, Thrall, instructed that the Sira be taken captive, as he had a plan for her. Nathanos managed to escape with the help of Sylvanas's magic, a loss that Thrall felt keenly. However, Thrall was very happy when Talanji decided to repay the Horde's support against the rebels by joining the Horde Council.
Thrall had Mathias freed and sent him back to the Alliance - along with Sira and a letter for Tyrande. The letter simply said this was not what was owed, but he hoped it was a start.
