The Il'gynoth encounter takes place in Nightmare-corrupted Un'goro Crater, accessed once players have defeated Nythendra and fought to the Core of the Nightmare within

Quick Tips
Players begin the encounter fighting against Il'gynoth's erupting eyestalks and tentacles, while the monstrous Eye bars the way to the heart of the tree. Defeating these tentacles spawns animated Nightmare Ichor globules, which players can destroy near the Eye to damage it.
Once the Eye is defeated, players can enter the hollow to damage Il'gynoth directly for a time, after which the Eye reforms to seal the entrance to the hollow once more, killing any players who remain inside. This repeats until players defeat Il'gynoth.

Lurking Horrors are cloaked in purple fogThe edges of the corridor are lined with small clouds of purple fog, hovering just above ground level. These mark the location of hidden

Lurking Horrors will occasionally cast

The hallway leading to the Core of the Nightmare is studded with several large packs of Taintheart satyrs, including

When possible, tanks should split the enemies so that one tank has the Tormenters, and the other tank has the Tricksters. Tanks should save their strongest cooldowns for multiple stacks of either debuff, and healers should quickly top up tanks with

Run out of Devastating Stomp's 15-yard radiusAoE stuns and other forms of CC are very useful against the Taintheart packs. It is best to prioritize the Befoulers, then the Tormenters, then the Tricksters.

To access Il'gynoth, players should take the Un'goro Crater portal at the end of the south branch of the Core of Nightmares.

Healers and ranged DPS should stand more than 20 yards away from Bo'lan so they are never feared. It may be useful to split the raid's damage so that melee DPS are attacking Flail of Il'gynoth adds, while ranged attack Bo'lan.

This guide provides tips and strategies for defeating the

encounter on Normal difficulty. Changes to the fight for Looking for Raid, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties are listed below in their respective sections, including suggestions for dealing with the new mechanics introduced in these difficulties.
Defeat the Eye of Il'gynoth to access the boss's true formThe Il'gynoth encounter is a two-phase fight with heavy movement and awareness requirements. The first phase is multi-target and hectic; players must attack lesser adds that the boss summons to protect herself. The second phase is a single-target, 50-second "burn phase" on Il'gynoth's true form.
Players must defeat Il'gynoth within two of these "burn phases" or else Il'gynoth grows bored and slaughters the raid with

Phase 1: The Ruined Ground
The aim of Phase 1 is to defeat the

The fight has a rhythmic flow of killing the large adds, then using downtime between add spawns to kite Nightmare Ichors to the Eye of Il'gynoth and blowing them up to damage the Eye. Adds will continue to spawn for as long as the Eye of Il'gynoth is alive, so if players miss with some of the Nightmare Ichors'

There are four types of adds that players will be faced with during the fight. Killing each type of add generates a different amount of Nightmare Ichor spawns.

However, be sure to assign a couple of players to watch the Deathglare Tentacles and interrupt

Healers should use cooldowns if necessary to top the raid back up after the detonations occur
The raid can use the third

detonation as a benchmark for when to exit the heart chamber.
It is possible to defeat Il'gynoth during the first Heart of Corruption phase, but at the intended gear level it is unlikely that the average group will do so.
If players fail to kill Il'gynoth during their first Phase 2 attempt, they must exit the heart chamber and repeat Phase 1, killing 20 Nightmare Ichors to defeat the respawned Eye of Il'gynoth. This repeat of Phase 1 spawns adds in a different order; consult the table in the Strategy Summary for details.
Upon defeating the second Eye of Il'gynoth, the raid will be allowed to enter the heart chamber again. Il'gynoth will now be channeling

Many groups like to "pool" a set of Nightmare Ichors (5 or so) before kiting them to the Eye of Il'gynoth and killing them. This allows them to spend more time on priority targets and avoid unnecessary movement.
If following this tactic, use slows to keep the Nightmare Ichors from hitting their

Looking For Raid Difficulty
In Looking for Raid difficulty, the
梦魇爆破
from Nightmare Ichor adds will reduce the Eye of Il'gynoth's health by 7% rather than 5%. This means that only 15 Nightmare Ichor are required to move into the Heart of Corruption phase, rather than 20.
(This was not the case in testing, but the spell data has been updated since then, so it will have to be confirmed on live servers when the LFR wing becomes available.)
In addition, the
命运之眼
debuff applied to the tanks increases
命运之眼
damage by only 10% per stack, rather than 50%. This allows one tank to handle the
命运之眼
mechanic if necessary.
Heroic Difficulty
On Heroic difficulty, the Dominator Tentacles gain a stack of
Nightmarish Fury
each time they attack with
梦魇之怒
, even if the individual hit is dodged. These stacks persist until the Dominator Tentacle is dead, and increase all Physical damage dealt by the Dominator by 4% per stack.
Tanks must save their stronger cooldowns for
梦魇之怒
casts that occur when the Dominator already has high stacks of the
Nightmarish Fury
buff. The raid should focus one Dominator Tentacle down quickly so that healers will be able to focus all their attention on the tank who is tanking the other Tentacle at high stacks. Having both Tentacles reach high stacks may wipe the raid.
Mythic Difficulty
This encounter has been recently hotfixed to discourage raids from using a single-Phase-2 strategy.
These changes will take place following the October 3rd raid reset:
Il'gynoth's health has been tripled, but defeating the Eye of Il'gynoth will cause Il'gynoth to suffer 33% of her maximum health as damage
Players have to deal the same amount of damage to Il'gynoth as before this change, but must split that damage over the course of two Heart phases
The Nightmare Ichors'
梦魇爆破
will now damage the Eye of Il'gynoth for 6% of its health instead of 5%, to shorten Phase 1
It may be beneficial to use

at the start of the second Phase 1 rather than during Phase 2, since you are no longer trying to kill Il'gynoth in a single Heart phase
On Mythic difficulty, whenever a Nightmare Ichor casts

, all players in the raid are afflicted with a stack of a
Nightmare Explosion debuff
.
This applies a moderate damage DoT that lasts for 4 seconds and can stack.
One or two stacks can be healed through, but may require cooldowns
The raid cannot simply kill Nightmare Ichors indiscriminately, and must wait for the debuff to fall off before killing another Ichor

adds a minor organisational challenge to the fight, and the popular strategy of "pool a bunch of Nightmare Ichor adds and AoE them down at once" is not sustainable. The raid should kill Nightmare Ichors in small groups more frequently.

. The Eye will cast this spell three times during each Phase 1, during lulls in add spawns: at 1 minute, 2:40, and 3:15.

damage is essentially unhealable, and the raid must soak every one of the
死亡之花
detonations. Since these events occur during lulls in add spawns, most players should be available to soak.
Note that the second
死亡之花
cast may occur while the Nightmare Horror add is still alive. Tanks should focus on managing the
命运之眼
mechanic and should not soak
死亡之花
unless there are no other players available to do it.
Because of the
死亡之花
mechanic, the spawn timings for adds in this fight is slightly different on Mythic mode. The Nightmare Horror is delayed about 30 seconds compared to Normal/Heroic mode spawn rates, and other tentacles after the first
死亡之花
are pushed back about 8-10 seconds. This does not change the strategy, but it does mean players will have less time to kill the Nightmare Horror before the Heart of Corruption phase begins.
In addition, the Deathglare Tentacle's
精神鞭笞
ability deals extremely heavy damage on Mythic difficulty. Players must interrupt every cast, and should prioritize Deathglare Tentacles over Corruptor Tentacles when necessary.
During the Heart of Corruption phase, players must also contend with two new mechanics.
Shriveled Eyestalks will appear around the heart of Il'gynoth, damaging targets with
精神鞭笞
血溅四方
s will erupt from the heart of Il'gynoth, creating growing pools of Shadow Corruption
Players with the
诅咒之血
debuff will have to avoid these
血溅四方
pools as well as other players
Due to limited Il'gynoth test logs, it is unclear whether Shriveled Eyestalks must be killed or if
精神鞭笞
can be continually interrupted, or whether
血溅四方
damage may be minimized in some way. This section of the guide will be updated when more information is available.

Thanks for the Great guild just a tip for Dominator Tentacles's Nightmarish Fury spell it might not be easy to handle the damage now with lower gears/ lower dps so just all melees and tanks should walk away like 8 to 10 yards and it wont stack :) make sure to walk back before the spell ends just to avoid raid-wide dmg easily manageable.

If there is 'that one boss' in the Emerald Nightmare, it is this one. He is a little less hassle compared to Xavius, but he will make your life a nightmare.
From a healer perspective, I will say the most important aspect of this fight is the management of the slimes, you need to get them all on top of the core 'eye' or you will have to go through one or two more cycles, and with the damage output of this encounter you will be making your healers suffer horribly if you don't.

First off - this guide is super awesome, huge thanks for it!
One correction, I think the number of Ichors dropped from each mob is wrong. And different videos I've watched also seem to mention different (and wrong) info.
I think it's like this, please check if I'm right or wrong:
Dominator and Nightmare (high health mobs) - drop 4 Ichors each
Deathglare - drop 2 Ichors each
Corruptor - drop 1 Ichor each
At least that's for Normal, maybe it's different on Heroic/Mythic?

Is this a hardened fast kill order? If the deathglare is interruptable, shouldn't the corruptor tentacles be first? Their debuff hits hard.

Just a tip for shadows priests: Use you mass dispel at the soaking part since you dont need the mana but so you can take many of the debuffs aways and save your healers some work and mana.

One thing I was hoping to find out however was the health of the adds/boss, specifically on Mythic, but heroic/normal would also be nice (I realize for heroic and normal this scales with raid size). I would really like to know the health points for the Nightmare Ichor's specifically, considering the raid-wide dot they apply when they die on Mythic, knowing a rough indication of a good target dps to aim for on them would be really ideal to know before release!

I just computed this for my guild to help the DPS understand what is expected of them, and thought I'd share.
(This is all talking about numbers for Normal)
The fight is designed to get the eye open in under 4 minutes. In P1, mobs spawn in a predetermined order at predictable times. At the 3 minute mark, precisely enough mobs have spawned, when killed produces the 20 Ichors you need to kill the Eye. At 4 minutes, more mobs spawn to cause troubles. So, it's expected to kill the eye before that happens. Thus we have our P1 duration:

And, since the mobs are always the same, the total HP is the same. The following analysis was based on the damage-taken by each mob in a parse on
Normal
in a raid of size 18. I'm assuming the health scales linearly with number of players (for 10 or more, of course). So, "HPpP" stands for HP per player.

My guild had a way easier time using bloodlust at the start of the second phase 1 to clear out the adds and the 3 corruptor that spawn on the edge of the fighting area.the second phase is long and allows you to finish the heart will some spare time.we got the heart down to around ~40% during first phase 2 without bloodlust

As a rogue, I use Cloak of Shadows to remove the Cursed Blood debuff so that I don't need to run out of the raid. I saw that CoS actually remove the debuff and didn't cause any damage to the raid. But the combat log recorded lots of friendly fire of this spell from myself. Anyone know why?

Supereasy to solo in BfA (ilvl 379 Destro warlock), on 10M Normal:
Kill the tentacles, then move to the eye. Kill the slimes near the eye, the red goo from when they explodes will hurt it. Kill other adds where you want - if you're not a ranged, you may have to move around a little. Ignore debuffs, they doesn't matter at all.
Eventually the eye will pull back into the cave. Follow it and just nuke it.
I never took any visible damage at all during this fight.
