Minor mistake: you say the "Inscription" Quest NPC is 瑞林 but actually it is 塞格.

However really good and handy guide.

I've found that a lot of hassle can be saved by having a stack of flour, baubles, dyes, thread and contributed spare ride tickets in a public tab of the guild bank - if you forget anything you can use the Mobile Banking perk to grab what you need, depending on how your Guild Master sets-up the Guild Bank.

I wish they'd make a new DMF mount, and have it sell all the things you might need for the DMF as well as a transmog version of the DMF mage outfit.

Minor c&p mistake: On the Jewelcrafting tab under "Production Professions" it says it rewards +5 Inscription. Well, I hope it's a c&p mistake, otherwise I'll be slightly bummed. ;)

Don't forget to start the profession quest from 700-800 in Legion, as I have just experienced that completing a quest without doing so does NOT credit you +5 profession point gains.

I was searching to see what profession level one needed to have in order to get the profession quests from DMF.
This guide gave me the exact answer I needed and much more other info such as shopping list and best vendors for mats with maps.

With the professions having split to several separate progressions in 8.0, this applies the classic skill only (the one that is up to 300).

I tested this with classic, Outland and Legion, the two later of which didn't go up anymore, but I think it is safe to assume that it applies for all the other special ones in between.

I did post a reply elsewhere in this thread but wanted to also put the unedited (except for names) ticket for all to read here. Darkmoon professions quests have changed along with the professions changes that dropped in Patch 8.0.1 Without further ado, the full ticket response:

So, I understand you're not getting the +5 from the profession quests at the Darkmoon Faire. That definitely sounds disconcerting, and I'm glad you got in touch with us so I could check it out for you!

This actually threw me for a loop as well when I ran into it, but it's a result of the way professions were changed with patch 8.0. Each profession is split up by expansion, and the Darkmoon quests count for classic, so to get them you need at least one rank in the classic profession, and the benefit from the quest stops at 300/300.

This is something we have sent to our developers to look into; hopefully, the quest text will be more concise when it comes back around for this month. For this month, it looks like the behavior is intended. Customer Service will not assist with those five points in a different category! We are, however, passing up all of the feedback related to this to improve it for future Darkmoon Faires.

Nice guide. You might want to remove the First Aid as that's out of the game for BfA.

Definitely bummed that the crafting +5 is useless now or so it appears 8/7/18. I guess it's still viable for a few coin and the tickets, but boo Blizzard on making this useless past Vanilla.

This is ignorant, like most of the changes that Blizzard decides to do to destroy the game....
I was close to maxxing out my Mining in Legion, and was using the faire to get my last 15 points, because the morons at Blizzard decided to make it so that the nodes in Broken Isles all go grey at 785. However, now you cannot even get skill ups at the faire anymore.
WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THAT BLIZZARD?
Just another attempt to ruin the game for role players? Also, why was it made to be so impossible to complete your professions in Legion? Almost every single profession in Legion was setup that it was near to impossible to finish, and now you want to take away the one option that players had?
Are you stupid, or just trying to chase away everyone who pays your salaries? I have a suggestion Blizzard, just completely remove professions from game entirely, then you can stop needling the players every time you get near a computer.
Is there any possible way now to max Legion Mining anymore, without the faire, and with the removal of profession quests? Does anybody know?
Don't get me wrong, I am not hating on BFA, but I am sick of finding out that Blizzard has made yet another dramatic change to the game that breaks it.
The profession split was totally unnecessary, and pointless!

It seems that in Battle for Azeroth, the only quest to reward BfA-level Skill is 给小家伙们乐一乐 (Archaeology).

None of the others i tried (alchemy, herbalism, fishing or cooking) rewarded skill for their 'Kul Tiran' or 'Zandarli' flavours.

As some people have pointed out, the Darkmoon Faire no longer provides any increase to Profession Skills (except Archaeology, which still follows the pre-BfA point system).

The problem is that it still states that one will receive +5 points in the profession when one completes the quest. So Blizzard should really have updated the in-game text if they wanted this to be a smooth transition.

Question: do you need to be level 35 to buy Moonberry Juice (thus making the Alchemy quest impossible for starter edition players) or do you just need to be that level to use it?

The Darkmoon Professional quest now award skill up for Zandalari and other expansion skills! I was able to add to my mains Zandalari Fishing and my alts Legion Jewel crafting .

Darkmoon Faire quest-based skillups now apply automatically to the most recent expansion profession progress that is not at its maximum.

This is either too ambiguous, or not actually working as stated. For example:

I am levelling an alt and raising his engineering skill.
Alt is level 83.
Cataclysm engineering is at 16.
Northrend engineering is at 63.
I am trying to get Northrend eng to max level, so I craft an orange Northrend recipe.
Northrend eng is now at 64. Therefore this is my "most recent expansion profession progress".
Rinling's quest reward is 5 skill ups for Cataclysm engineering. Going by the patch note, shouldn't this be applied to Northrend engineering instead?

For the engineering macro you have to delete the "s" to Damaged Tonk"s " if don't do that the macro doesn't work.

I ran into a different problem with Darkmoon Faire:

I tried to get the +5 in blacksmithing on two different characters. One is Horde, one is Alliance and they are on different server clusters. I was able to get the profession quest twice.

I then tried to get the +5 in leatherworking on two characters on the same server cluster (Shu'Halo and Eitrigg). Two are Alliance, one is at the Legion level, the other one is still leveling in Eastern Kingdoms. The quest worked for the first one, but didn't appear for the second one.

It is not a level problem, as for blacksmithing, I had a level-120 and a level-33. They both got the quest.

I have found in 8.1.5 that Rinling offers my char the engineering quest but not the leatherworking quest

What skill level do you need to be to obtain quests? My Zandulari JC is 77 and mining is 31. The toon is boosted so it skips MoP, WoD, & Legion. Skill sets go from Vanilla, to Cata to Zandalri.

Beware - if you switched a profession (as I did in Legion) or otherwise don't have level 75 in VANILLA for that profession, the DMF profession quest will not be available. I just found that out with Herbalism. In this case, the combination of GatherMate 2, Routes, a Sky Golem mount, and about 30 minutes in Elwynn Forest was enough to get me from 13 to 75, and I was able to pick up and complete the quest. Now that professions are broken up by expansion, this is not immediately obvious.

Keldesh pointed this out in a reply to one of the posts in here; just wanted to bring more attention to it.

Quest giver for the Mining quest is Rinling (14841), not Derina Rumdnul (1484).

Very usefull guide, I love it.
I will however add a note. To get the Darkmoon Faire profession quest you need to lvl 75 (also said above). What tricked me is that it is lvl 75 in the original profession ("vanilla skill"), thus working your BfA profession lvl is not going to help towards getting these quests. (sigh)

Well, I have all skill levels at maximum, except Kul'Tiran fishing and got NO points for after turning in the fishing quest....

They seem to have re-kajiggered the way these quests work again.

You only need skill level 1 in Classic skills to get the quest.
It will apply the skill levels to the latest expansion that you don't have maxed out. I have a character with max Shadowlands cooking, and never even trained BfA cooking, so it's getting skill points in Legion cooking, which isn't maxed.
If you read the quest, it tells you which expansion the skills will be applied to.
You can get the quests even if your Classic skill level is maxed out.

These quests are pretty good exp for the time spent for characters with levels <50. If you have an alt you don't play much it's probably worthwhile to learn mining, herbalism and cooking just to get a free level (plus or minus a half level) every month.

I'd advise against getting the fishing quest, unless your Classic fishing is well over 100, since that's the minimum skill to not catch trash. At level 1 fishing skill you'll be catching 10 or more trash for every successful catch.

In Dragonflight, both production and gathering professions now give 1x Darkmoon Token , 4x Tickets, +3 Knowledge, +2 Skill and 15x Artisan's Mettle.

Cooking and Fishing only gives +3 Skill now.
