One of the new features of Patch 9.1, Chains of Domination, is Covenant Assaults - Covenants rallying together to assault key locations in The Maw. In this post, we go through the basics of Covenant Assaults, including information, locations and rewards!
What Are Covenant Assaults?
Covenant Assaults are new World Events happening at the Maw in Patch 9.1, Chains of Domination. During a Covenant Assault, you aid covenants strike at certain areas in the Maw. Covenant Assaults are similar to the Minor Assaults from Visions of N'Zoth, with similar reset times:

, Covenant Assaults will flip around on
Tuesdays at 8am PDT
and on
Fridays at 8pm PDT

EU Servers
, Covenant Assaults will flip around on
Wednesdays at 8am CET
and on
Saturdays at 8pm CET
.
Why Should I Participate in Covenant Assaults?
There are several reasons to participate in Covenant Assaults:
It serves as a source of
,
,
,
reputation,
reputation and
Korthian gear.
The Covenant Assault meta achievement,
, is part of the Korthia meta achievement
, which grants the mount
.
Unlocking Covenant Assaults
Because you need to start the Chains of Domination questline to unlock Covenant Assaults, these naturally require level 60 to do.
Covenant Assaults are unlocked after completing Chapter 2 of the Chains of Domination questline,
. Once the chapter is completed, Covenant Assaults will spawn once you pick up the breadcrumb quest
with Bolvar in Korthia. You are able to see which Covenant Assault is currently available by looking at the Shadowlands map, as well as how much time is left on that specific assault.
Once you have unlocked Covenant Assaults, you must then venture to the Maw and reach the specific area that Covenant is attacking. You do NOT need to be part of that specific Covenant to participate on the Assault. The Covenants attack the following areas:
The Kyrian assault
Zovaal's Cauldron
with the assistance of the Venthyr;
The Necrolords assault
Perdition Hold
with the assistance of the Kyrian;
The Night Fae assault the
Crucible of the Damned
with the assistance of the Necrolords;
The Venthyr assault the
Tremaculum
with the assistance of the Night Fae.

Transport to Covenant Assaults
To get to a Covenant Assault area, you can simply ride there once in the Maw. If you're feeling a bit lazy, the Covenant assaulting the area offers transportation to the staging area - To use the transportation, simply jump to the Maw from Oribos. Once there, turn to the right from the landing point and you will see Covenant NPCs offering a ride. Just click on the ride there and let the mount take you there!
The transportation is not available for the Kyrian assault, since it happens by Zovaal's Cauldron, right next to Ve'nari's Refuge.

In addition to this, if your Covenant is the one currently leading an assault, you will have two-way transportation to the staging area from your Covenant Sanctum! Look for the Assault recruit NPCs by the Travel Network area of your Sanctum and you will see a network portal to the Maw.
Kyrian Covenant members get a gateway from Elysian Hold to the Maw during the Kyrian assault.
Covenant Assault Basics
During each Covenant Assault, you will need to complete four quests given by the Covenant, asking for a variety of tasks at the assault area.
Once all four quests are completed, a final event is triggered, leading you to the commander of the Mawsworn at the area. Once you reach the commander, all you need to do is kill it (or have the event kill the commander depending on what Assault you are on), and this will complete the assault!
Covenant Assault Rewards
Completing each initial quest for the Covenant Assault will give you
125 Reputation
with the faction that belongs to the Covenant leading the assault. These quests can also have normal Daily quest rewards such as Gold,
tokens, etc.
Upon completing a Covenant Assault, you will receive the following rewards:
350 Reputation with
, one of the new 9.1 factions;
1000 Reputation with the reputation associated with the Covenant assaulting the area;
A
War Chest
containing the following rewards:
200
;
50
;
1
;
A chance at
Korthian gear
;
3 Archivist's Codex Relic tokens that can be turned in for 100
each;
In addition to this, each War Chest has a chance for specific rewards:
The
from the Kyrian Assault can contain:
The
battle pet;

toy.

from the Necrolord Assault can contain:
The
mount;
The
battle pet.
The
from the Night Fae Assault can contain:
The
mount;
The
battle pet.
The
from the Venthyr Assault can contain:
The
mount.
Covenant Assault Achievements
Like many other world events in the past, Covenant Assaults have a meta-achievement of their own -
, requiring you to complete specific tasks during Covenant Assaults. This meta-achievement is part of the Korthia meta-achievement,
.
- Complete all four Covenant Assaults.
- During Kyrian Assaults, dance near five different forges in Zovaal's Cauldron while holding a Mawproof Parasol. The quest
has to be active for this achievement to be obtainable.
- During Kyrian Assaults, find
each time he runs away.
You can find Sly once every assault, which means you will need 3 Assaults to complete this.
- During Necrolord Assaults, complete the quest
once with each available champion.
You can choose to do the quest with one champion every assault, so you will need 5 Assaults with the quest up to complete the achievement.
- During Necrolord Assaults, open ten Mawsworn Caches.
These can be found at the walls of Perdition Hold through the assault, and can be reached via the Centurion provided after completing the assault quest
or with the grapple points from
.
- During Night Fae Assaults, aid each character available on the quest "Just Don't Ask Me To Spell It".
- During Night Fae Assaults, open ten Rift Hidden Caches.
These can be accessed if the assault quest
is active, or with a
if you run from Korthia.
- During Venthyr Assaults, make use of fifteen items Fangcrack pulls out of the Portal to Torghast.
- During Venthyr Assaults, serve tea to each Venthyr character.

I don't know if something is bugged for me, but I haven't been able to trigger the assaults.
I have completed the Maw Walkers chapter of Chain of domination and nothing else has happened. No auto pop-up quest from Bolivar so I went to him in Oribos and he has nothing for me. What Am I missing? How do I start the assaults?

Necrolords Assault, quest Putting a Plan Together seems bugged. You have to collect three centurion parts, but only two are accepted. Abandoned quest twice, didn't help. It's the hand that's causing the bug. Submitted it to support, hope they fix it within three days, otherwise assault is lost.

Never saw an extra portal to the assault from the Necro's covenant hall like the rest got. Unless I'm just missing it.

Got All Three Achievements (The Zovaal Shuffle, On the Offensive and Breaking the Chains) but mount isn't available in my journal? Not only I did not get the mount by completing On the Offensive and Breaking the Chains but just find out Achievement isn't Account Bound because I just tried to buy the mount from the Death Advance on my alt and I can't :-(

Quest was not available for me until after Chaper 3 (Focusing the Eye) of the chains of Domination. So if it doesn't show up for you keep going on the campaign quests.

Does progress for these count across your account? As since the quests don't change for the time they appear, it may take a bit to complete the meta.
