Corruption System Overview - Corrupted Items, Resistance, Titanic Purification

补丁:8.3.0
目录
评分:
Corruption is a new system that is being added in Patch 8.3 Visions of N'zoth. This system is being added to replace Titanforging and will only apply to relevant content from Season 4. Corrupted Items have a bonus positive affix on them, but come at the cost of having a Corruption stat on them. As players rack up more Corruption, more debuffs and negative effects will be applied, making it harder and harder to survive.
What is Corrupted Gear?
Instead of an Item Titanforging in Patch 8.3, items can now become
Corrupted
. This causes it to gain the following:
In Purple: An amount of a "Corruption Stat" on the Item
In Purple: A Positive Affix bonus that increases your power in some way when you equip the item.
This creates a risk/reward system which allows the highest item level gear to be from the best content, but maintains a reason to continue to farm content in hopes for an upgrade. However, unlike Titanforging, you'll have to be careful about equipping too many Corrupted Items as a high Corruption stat will cause some pretty negative effects.
Note that when using more than one of the same Corruption, even different tiers, the effect/benefit (damage, statistical gains, etc) stack while durations and proc rates remain unchanged. The only exception is
虚空鞭笞
, unique to the Ny'alotha raid weapon
流液之抚
, which will proc independently when dual wielded.
Corruption can randomly proc on any Season 4 item, except
Trinkets cannot Corrupt
! Content from previous Seasons also cannot Corrupt and will continue to Titanforge up to the pre-8.3 maximum of 455.
Corruption System Removed in Shadowlands Pre-Patch
The Shadowlands pre-patch coming on October 13th removes the entire Corruption system for classes. Here's exactly what this means:
MOTHER no longer sells Preserved Contaminants.
Existing Preserved Contaminants in your bags are destroyed, so you can't stockpile them to use on gear after the pre-patch.
Corruption benefits on your current gear no longer work.
The negative effects of Corruption are also disabled.
The Ny'alotha weapons have Corruption effects disabled.
The Azerite Trait
黑暗之心
provides a flat secondary stat boost without any corruption requirements.
So what does this mean for classes? Some classes scaled very well with Corruption and we've seen countless Rextroy videos showing the power of Corruption like
one-shotting players with 27x Infinite Stars
. Other classes didn't rely as heavily on Corruption, but will still feel their rotation impacted by the lack of stats or procs provided by the system.
To this end, our class writers have prepared summaries detailing how badly their specs will feel the loss of Corruption in the pre-patch:
Blood Death Knight
Arcane Mage

Finding How Much Corruption You Have
To find how much Corruption you currently have is very simple - Whenever you equip any gear containing Corruption, an Eye of N'Zoth will appear on the top right corner of your Character Info. You can simply mouseover the eye to see how much Corruption you currently have - It will point out how much Corruption your gear has, how much resistance you currently have, and any negative Corruption effects you might suffer while in combat. This will also highlight any currently equipped gear with Corruption-related effects, both positive and negative.
If you have any Corruption resistance, such as from the
Legendary Cloak Ashjra'kamas, Shroud of Resolve
or from one of the
new Azerite Essences added in Visions of N'Zoth
, you will be able to see how much Corruption is deducted from your gear in that window as well.
Corruption Vendor Now Available
MOTHER now acts as a Corruption Vendor, with a rotating stock of 6 Preserved Contaminants that can be bought for Echoes of Ny'alotha. MOTHER's stock of Corruptions will rotate twice a week. Preserved Contaminants will apply a corruption to any piece of gear.
Corruption Vendor Guide
Can I Corrupt a Purified Piece?
You can currently only apply a Preserved Contaminant to a piece that does not already have a Corruption on it AND was not purified before the Weekly maintenance on 5/19 (NA), 5/20 (EU).
We’ve made some progress on this subject today.
As of this morning, if you get a new Corrupted item and cleanse it, you can re-corrupt it using a Preserved Contaminant from the new system 2.
Unfortunately, items cleansed prior to maintenance this week remain unwilling to be re-Corrupted.
We’re also working on a hotfix that will add clarity to this, by highlighting Corruptable items in your bags when you activate a Preserved Contaminant. This should be very similar to how scrappable items light up when you use the scrapper.
We’ll let you know when that comes through in our Hotfixes Update post.
Random Corruption Affixes
Similar to how an item can Titanforge in Seasons 1-3, pieces of gear in relevant Season 4 will randomly become Corrupted. When an Item becomes Corrupted it has 2 different layers of RNG:
Which positive affix will be applied?
Which tier will the positive affix roll?
The details of each of these questions will be answered below. There are many different affixes that range from passive stats, to interesting procs. These positive affixes can roll on any item, including trinkets and weapons!
Passive Affixes
First, the Corrupted Item will be randomly decide which positive affix will roll. Second, Corrupted items will determine the potency of the affix by randomly choosing Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3. In the case of Flash of Clarity, Tier 2 will automatically be chosen. The higher the tier, the more Corruption that will be on the piece.

Negative Effects of Corruption
贪婪触须
When you equip your first Corrupted piece, you'll start with the
贪婪触须
effect.
贪婪触须
has 1 RPPM.
Taking damage has a chance to slow your movement speed for 5 sec. The magnitude of the slow increases with further corruption.
When the slow procs, it places the
贪婪触须
debuff on you. This is a physical debuff, it can be removed by effects that remove snares and roots.
The magnitude of the slow is equal to {Corruption + 10}
.
腐化之眼
When you have more than 20 Corruption, you gain the
腐化之眼
effect.
腐化之眼
has 1 RPPM.
Your spells and abilities have a chance to summon an Eye of Corruption for 8 sec. The Eye inflicts increasing Shadow damage to you every 2 sec while you remain in range. Range and damage increase with further Corruption.
壮美幻象
When you have more than 40 Corruption, you gain the
壮美幻象
effect.
壮美幻象
has 1 RPPM.
Taking damage has a chance to summon a Thing From Beyond, which pursues you for 8 seconds, its speed increases with further corruption.
倾泻灾祸
When you have more than 60 Corruption, you gain the
倾泻灾祸
effect.
If you are struck by the Thing From Beyond, you will be immediately afflicted by
贪婪触须
and
腐化之眼
.
While this seems rather tame at first glance, it can actually be quite lethal if the Thing From Beyond hits you... which it probably will because it's very fast.
First off, the
壮美幻象
creature will deal about 33% of your health pool.
Then, you put out a 60 Corruption sized
腐化之眼
and are slowed by at least
70%
due to
贪婪触须
.
Unless you immediately have a movement ability, you'll probably find yourself stuck in the
腐化之眼
and taking a bunch of extra damage.
在劫难逃
When you have more than 80 Corruption, you gain the
在劫难逃
debuff. This debuff is always active.
Damage taken increased by X% and healing taken reduced by X%.
This debuff will continue scaling infinitely as corruption increases. This increases all damage taken and reduces incoming healing.
X is equal to {Corruption - 75}.
Corruption Cosmetic Effects
Corruption also affects your character in a cosmetic way. As you obtain more and more pieces of Corrupted gear, your character will become surrounded by a void aura, and the more Corruption you have, the more darkened your character will become. At 80 or more Corruption, once you earn the
在劫难逃
effect, your character will change from a purple void effect to a red effect, displaying lethal levels of Corruption.
R
Ny'alotha Raid Azerite Trait - Heart of Darkness
黑暗之心
is a universal Azerite power effective for all specializations on the second outer ring of Azerite armor. This is present exclusively on all Azerite gear obtained via 8.3 assaults and open-world content, or from bosses within
尼奥罗萨,觉醒之城
.
As this appears on any item linked with 8.3 content, all newly added Azerite pieces outside of Dungeons and old raid content will have this as an option.
The
Secondary stat gain
scales with each additional instance of this trait on your gear, but the Corruption requirement does
not
.
This Azerite power grants the
黑暗之心
effect, granting a flat bonus to Haste, Critical Strike, Versatility and Mastery so long as you remain at 25 Corruption or above.
If you already are reaching the Corruption requirements this asks for due to other effects on your gear, this is a solid catch all trait that provides a large bulk of secondary stats, making it a good option if other choices on a given Azerite piece isn't a good pick in most circumstances without many downsides, unless you don't activate it and then it is useless.
You can find more about how this power stacks up against others for your specialization on the following Wowhead guide pages:

Cleansing a Corrupted Item - Titanic Purification
In order to unlock Titanic Purification, you need to at begin the 8.3 quest line and complete the Uldum Assault to get your first Corruption piece. This will unlock the
奇怪的腐蚀
quest to head to the Heart Forge, and then talk to MOTHER in
腐蚀元素
to unlock
泰坦净化
. MOTHER will have a new dialogue box to activate Titanic Purification!
Titanic Purification will bring up a small UI, similar to the Azerite Reforger. Cleansing a Corrupted Item will now
remove both the positive affix AND the Corruption
. Putting in a item will tell you what will be removed from the gear should you click "Purify". Using Titanic Purification costs 5
腐化的纪念品
which is very cheap.
Corruption Resistance
To help combat the Corruption Stat, another new stat has been added to the game called Corruption Resistance. Corruption Resistance will counter some of the Corruption that you have on your gear.
Your Total Corruption is equal to the amount of Corruption Stat on your gear minus your Corruption Resistance.
There are only a couple ways of getting Corruption Resistance.
Equipping
阿什拉·卡马斯,决意之护
. Higher Ranks will increase the Corruption Bonus.
Equipping any of the Essences in Patch 8.3.

Blizzard Post Explaining Corruption
Blizzard
The most recent PTR build introduced an early version of our Corrupted Items system, and we’d like to highlight a few aspects of how the Corruption system works, and our goals as we iterate on it.
How Corruption Works
Items from Ny’alotha, Mythic Keystone dungeons in Season 4, BfA PvP Season 4, the Heroic Darkshore Warfront, and other new sources of loot that are updated with Season 4 will not be able to Warforge or Titanforge. Items from older content will retain an effective “ceiling” of item level 455, as they do today.
There will be a chance for these new items to be Corrupted by N’Zoth. A Corrupted item has a powerful beneficial property, similar to many of the Benthic effects seen in Nazjatar, but has a new detrimental stat: Corruption. Items can have varying levels of Corruption, with the amount of Corruption present correlating directly with the power of the beneficial upside (for example: an item might give 4% Critical Strike damage and 10 Corruption, or 6% Critical Strike damage and 15 Corruption).
Corruption represents the influence of N’Zoth, which will have negative effects on the wearer. As Corruption increases, a series of drawbacks are activated. You might remember how Corruption worked on the Cho’gall encounter back in Bastion of Twilight – that was a source of inspiration here. The drawbacks currently on the PTR are works-in-progress and not-yet-tuned, and we have changes already implemented in the next PTR build. Our general intent is for low Corruption to activate a minor effect that most people can play around without too much difficulty, medium levels of Corruption to activate a couple more effects that have a higher skill cap (nd may be more situational in where and when someone can handle having them active), and high levels of Corruption to be prohibitive, and virtually never worth it.
Gear that makes your character worse when you equip it doesn’t sound terribly appealing, but fortunately there will be a few ways of dealing with Corruption. The legendary cloak that players will earn from Wrathion early on in Visions of N’Zoth will negate some Corruption, and can be upgraded through entering and completing Horrific Visions to provide even more of a bulwark against Corruption.
Early on, we expect that players might wear one or maybe two pieces of Corrupted gear at a time. Later on, three or four pieces might be manageable. The vast majority of the gear players wear, even later on, will not be Corrupted. And these perks aren’t planned to be slot-restricted, so if there’s a specific power you want, there should never be a concern that your item needs to roll with that affix to be useful.
We also never want an item that would otherwise be an upgrade to feel unusable as a result of being Corrupted, so any Corrupted items can be taken to the Heart Forge and purified without restriction . If you get that trinket you’ve been hoping for, but it’s Corrupted with a beneficial effect you don’t like, or wearing it would push you above a Corruption threshold you’re comfortable with, just purify the item and carry on.
Itemization Philosophy
With itemization, we’re always looking for opportunities to create moments of excitement and choices and options to customize your gameplay to suit your playstyle and the content you choose to play. Warforging created some of this by allowing useful rewards to come from a wide range of content, and ensuring that there was almost always at least the chance of an upgrade from any repeat boss kill or other source of loot. However, as we’ve seen and heard clearly in feedback over the past years, it has also brought significant downsides: Progression feels less rewarding, as players killing a raid boss on a new difficulty for the first time often disenchant much of the loot because they have equal or better Warforged items from lower difficulties or other sources. In addition, the feeling that a given item could have Warforged more and been even better can leave a sense of disappointment at what should have been a clear reward moment. And the sense that these systems are out of players’ direct control makes it harder to work towards a clear goal or state of completion.
The Corruption system isn’t a permanent addition to World of Warcraft, but it is an extension of the theme of N’Zoth’s pervasive and growing influence over Azeroth. As we explore this over the course of the PTR, we’d love to hear feedback about the initial round of powers showing up on items, Corruption drawbacks that may be excessively punitive, and the system as a whole.
Please feel free to reply with your feedback here in this thread. Thank you very much!

I love this. I'm sure some people don't like it, but I think it's so cool and adds flavor and makes the choice a difficult one.

Corrupted Items = Complexity * (RNG ^ RNG)
All they had to do was remove titanforge. But of course by doing so people would have less reasons for grinding and Blizz probably thinks that will reduce play time.... or maybe, it would have given people a reason to play alts.

I don't see how this will be anything but even worse than 8.2
At least in 8.2 I could just slap some benthic gear on my druid alt and start tanking mythic+ out the gate and with 5 coins to spend on +10 chest rerolls, you could get some really strong gear really fast if you were dedicated to that specific goal and activity.
But now with corrupted gear, they are either going to nerf the rate at which we get this special upgraded gear compared to titanforged drop rates, or I will have to remove any future benefits from my gear for the first X amount of weeks or god forbid months of grinding required to wear any corrupted gear without literally getting punished for wearing the gear that makes you stronger and is supposed to reward you because that's one of those fundamental pillars of RPGs we kinda heard about from Ion when he said Alliance will put up with whatever I tell them to put up with and I don't care about your faction imbalance problems.

Are Blizzard just looking for ways to put casual players off? I am just lost for words. Its that simple. I get putting effects like this into a Mythic dungeon or a Raid, but to add it to gear you wear all the time? I'm simply lost for words.

Ive no idea how it is "fun" or "interesting", just kills my interest in playing further in 8.3
Like i would get a piece of gear that i farmed in m+\raid but i won't be able to put it on. Why would I want to play such game?

I can't see any of these negative affixes being tolerated in a raid environment.....when you often need to be in a specific place at a specific time.......or your healers having to watch and waste dispels because of your gear. Can you imagine someone in a mythic raid running pell mell all over the room despite mechanics to dodge thing from beyond? I guess the design is meant so you have one corrupted piece with an amazing positive effect? and the high corruption negative effects are meant to discourage you taking lots of pieces...
does that void pool affect other people, or only yourself? does each corruption tier replace the one before it? (ie, you can't have both 10 & 20 at once)
Also....that hunter weapon looks useless for MM, since most of the rotation abilities don't have CDs (only rapid fire does) i suppose double tap and trueshot could be affected, but still not anything to get excited over

Looks to me that they are keeping the titan forge grind and with the added corruption they squared the amount of grind you will have to do.
Keep in mind that they have not released the details on how to remove the corruption....
I'm willing to bed they will have that locked behind a faction exalted grind, and you will need some new currency to remove the corruption.
1000 currency per point seems like a number they would go for.
And I'm sure the amount of currency you can grind in one week will be just below that 1000
Remember people! Blizzard is not here to make things fun for you. their goal is to squeeze as much subscription time out of you.

Titanic Purification - To cleanse one piece of corrupted gear it requires 5 Corrupted Mementos. I haven't been able to find out how or where these mementos are obtained. Anyone know?

Got a corrupted gloves with 8% leech and 45 corruption. Isn't it supposed to have 20 corruption instead?
Maybe the guide is outdated or live is bugged?

Do corruption abilities stack? I’ve got infinite stars tier 1 and tier 2 on two pieces of gear, is the tier 1 damage stacking with the other one? Or should I cleanse it?

Having to spend hours doing research to understand WHY my toon is being randomly murdered by eyeballs and phantoms of myself was annoying enough when I just want to play a game in what little free time I have. Just when my human arcane mage toon started to get solid enough to even consider a raiding guild I can't even quest without taking ridiculous amounts of equipment damage and running back to my corps constantly. The fact that it drags over into dungeons is really the limit for me. This isn't fun, or interesting, or remotely enjoyable. It's a bad imitation of the shaw from Pandaria which, for me, was also annoying, but at least you could see it coming or avoid a zone full of phantoms. Think again biz devs, this "new challenge" is more likely to translate into a new challenge to keep your subscribers AGAIN (remember how many dialed out for years. I was one of them.) SUPER DEMOTIVATING. Being forced down a quest line to enable MOTHER to cleanse my gear with X * X unfinished quest lines all over Azeroth (exhale) only to discover I have to go do SOMETHING? (which sounds like I have to grind raids) to earn YET ANOTHER currency to cleanse the gear I need to do the raid to begin with (exhale)... seriously? My quest log is constantly complaining that it is full. What is the point of subscribing to aggravation again? Good luck Bliz, I just DON'T CARE ENOUGH about how cool or creative these overly complicated updates seem to your elite mechanics geeks. This is supposed to be an escape, not a master's course in how to pay blizzard to work my last nerve.

Here's what I do NOT get... I have 2 pieces of corrupted gear on. One has a T1 Void Ritual, the other a T2 Infinite Stars. First, I assume the Tier by virtue of the Corruption each piece has (because #blizzfail too lazy to actually note this critical piece of information!). All well and fine. Was fooling around on a dummy looking to see names of stuff happening so I might set up notifications... and I see I am proccing Racing Pulse, a haste proc. Where exactly am I getting this from? I get led to this guide which says that it is a possible proc from corruption. Uh, I already have 2 procs/affixes from my 2 pieces of gear, so exactly where is this coming from?

Tier1 Twisted Appendage is +10 corruption, not 15. This needs constant updating as Blizz changes things around.
I could not find one on the net so a
corruption calculator
might be a very good idea tbh.

Was trying to hit a certain range of corruption to activate Heart of Darkness and was going absolutely crazy because the was 10 corruption resistance I could not find. Look at your essences. Some have corruption resistance on them. Save some time in adding this all up and picking what gear to swap in or out.

Please please please SAVE this game that ive loved for years by removing Corruption. You are effectivly ruining your own game. Its SO UNBALANCED if you dont face someone running with the EXACT same corruptions as you are. This is truly horrible to play, its to the point were none of my friends even play anymore and my guild has unsubbed. PLEASE SAVE THE GAME FROM CORRUPTIONS!

So i agree a little bit with everybody, the corrupted is fine and dandy, IF and only IF it were obtained by doing the N'Zoth content (invasions, raid, etc..) NOT the damn world quests not pertaining to N'Zoth content. I was gearing up on of my alts thru world quests in Zandalar, got a really nice 420 sword for my warrior, YAY! Equiped the dam thing only to find out it has +50 freakin corruption on it. Oh great, now i got an alt that has not even started the freakin N'zoth content, wasn't really planning to my alts, now i freakin have to in order to purify this stupid sword that i can't hardly use. Tried to start the content to get the cloak so i could get the damn currency i need to get rid of the corruption, but couldn't. I had to equip my damn heirlooms to get past the stupid scenario dungeons. This is freakin ignorant! Make corrupted gear drop ONLY from the dam N'Zoth content, is it really that hard?

Hello,
Can this guide please be updated to reflect that the Grasping Tendrils are not dispellable by healers? I'm kind of tired of being yelled at to do something that I cannot do, then sent to this guide that isn't updated. I then have to respond with the link to the news article which is beyond frustrating.

Thanks!

Is Racing Pulse supposed to only proc on abilities on other characters/mobs? I cannot get it to proc just spam healing myself. I was just trying to test out the proc rate by healing myself but it wouldn't proc unless I used another player or target dummy.
