Changes to Venthyr Outlaw Rogue in 9.2
None.
Venthyr Rogue Covenant Abilities
Venthyr Rogue Class Ability:
The Venthyr Class Ability for Rogues of all specializations is
. This ability combines good damage with a stat buff.
When you use it, it will lash out dealing shadow damage against the target, and apply a Haste buff on you. For the next 12 seconds, every finisher will cause an additional lash, the damage of which is scaling with the number of combo points spent. For every combo point, you also get a stack on the Haste buff. When the 12s are over or your target dies early, you will get the Haste buff persisted for another 12s. Should the target die early, you will also get 10 stacks on the buff for free, probably as compensation for losing some time. The buff is capped at 30 stacks.
Venthyr Conduit for
The corresponding conduit that modifies this ability is
, which increases the damage of all lashes. It also adds an additional lash when you use the ability that is working as if you used a four combo point finisher.
This is a very strong conduit for the spec.

Venthyr Rogue Signature Ability:
The ability to create a
sounds cool, but can be a bit underwhelming. This is mostly due to the fact that it has a 1.5s cast time (in which you can already cross a fair part of the maximum distance just by running), so that Door of Shadows becomes only a secondary movement cooldown in our toolkit. It has its uses but does not impress very much alongside
and
and in comparison to the other Covenant signature abilities.
Some soulbind traits can modify this and add additional facets to the ability. Nothing makes it impressive.
Venthyr Exclusive Legendary for Outlaw Rogues
NEW Venthyr Legendary

now also increases your Versatility by 1%. Each combo point spent while
is active decreases it's cooldown by 1 sec.
While Outlaw does not get as much value out of
and this legendary as the other two Rogue specs, it is still a great single target legendary. It is also the strongest one for Assassination and Subtlety to keep in mind when multi-speccing.

There are no noteworthy legendary interactions that should affect this covenant and soulbind choice or what legendary you want to target.

Best Venthyr Outlaw Rogue Soulbinds
On the way to Renown 80, the above separation continues to be generally good.
Pretty self explanatory tree, 3 potencies is better than both the alternative traits in the middle of the tree,
and
.
is also a pretty great defensive trait too.
is a very high value trait, if you have the opportunity to "reroll" your tea, Vers is the best, while Agility is the second best though the difference between the 4 is quite small.

Outlaw Rogue Rotation Guide
You can use Flagellation pretty much on cooldown. It is worth using it right before a finisher to facilitate quick stacking.
There is not much to be said about Door of Shadows rotationally. Use it at will when you need the teleport and/or the modified effects from your active soulbind. Keep in mind that it has a 1.5s cast time, so you may not want to use it when you can attack a target instead.
Venthyr Outlaw Rogue Talent Builds
Your talent build does not change when picking this covenant. There is no special interaction with our kit and no reason to deviate from what build you are already choosing anyway. You can simply refer to the talent page of the guide for more information on talents.

Venthyr Outlaw Rogue Gearing Differences
Being part of the Venthyr covenant does not really affect your gearing strategy or your stat priorities. As usual, we encourage you to sim yourself, and to also consider that, for generic play, the primary stat Agility provided by item level upgrades typically outweighs "better" secondary stats.

Venthyr Outlaw Rogue Soulbinds Explained
Across all classes and specs, Venthyr have access to the same three soulbinds:
Nadjia the Mistblade
,
Theotar the Mad Duke
and
General Draven
. They are the NPCs with whom you complete the zone story, and they allow you to "attune" yourself to them to gain access to a tree of upgrades centered around your base toolkit (through Conduits) and Covenant abilities (through special game-wide traits).
These trees progressively unlock based on completion steps (such as finishing the campaign) and your Renown level with the Venthyr Covenant.
We've summarized a few traits for each soulbind below, along with potential conduits to slot in, below. Do bear in mind that these recommendations are based on a PvE DPS perspective. You have every right to adjust your soulbind trees to your and your group's own needs. If you have an incentive to pick a utility or survivability option instead of throughput traits, don't let this guide stop you from doing so.
Nadjia the Mistblade grants you these important traits:
is a pretty good initial power, especially for longer fights where you can expect this to trigger without decays from dropping combat.
is an interesting priority damage trait that, according to simulations, is worth the sacrifice of the second Potency conduit on its row.
is also a damage increase; however, in terms of damage gained compared to the alternate paths, it does not seem to be worth the pick, unless for some reason you want the Endurance conduit.
adds a new effect on top of
's Euphoria buff. After the Haste buff expires, you gain 20% Crit or Versatility, depending on what you have more of. This is pretty powerful, assuming a fight is long enough for you to gain Euphoria in the first place.
An example tree to follow on this soulbind is as follows.
Theotar the Mad Duke provides a couple of interesting nodes:
is a DPS-increasing trait that you can get early on, it requires you to stand in a specific spot, however.
is an interesting trait where I really recommend running a personal simulation to see if it is worth taking instead of the second Potency conduit. It can very well be or not be worth it, depending on what you have available at what rank.
has numerically not been impressive in simulations as it is too rare of a gain. Unless you desire the FInesse conduit, the other paths are probably better.
is basically a soulbind-specific flask. You can get the item from Theotar in Sinfall and use it for a 4h buff. The buff persists through death, so that is nothing to worry about. You can, however, not change your soulbind and keep the effect. The item itself has a 1h cooldown so you cannot "reroll" the buff for the first hour. After that, it's up to you if you want to re-roll it. They should all be relatively close. Based on simulations, if you have the opportunity to "reroll" your tea, Vers is the best, while Agility is the second best though the difference between the 4 is quite small.

General Draven grants access to the following notable traits:
can be an interesting choice when you get to interrupt very often. This may or may not be an option for dungeons if you feel comfortable with it.
is a potentially powerful damage increase. If you can stay above 50-80% health for most of the time, the gain from this trait should be the best in its row. During progress and whenever you have to deal with regularly incoming heavy damage then you may want to go for one of the other paths though.
is a damage increase that is not too impressive against a single target. It gets better against up to 3.

Double Legendaries for Venthyr Outlaw Rogue
Patch 9.2 adds the option of using two legendaries at the same time, with the restriction that one of them is your Covenant legendary. This change empowers Venthyr Outlaw Rogue even more. You can learn more about it in our Legendary Guide.
