库尔提拉斯人 - The best Alliance tank race. Absolutely worth playing unless you haven't unlocked them/don't want to be thicc.

矮人 - A contender for second-best Alliance tank race. 石像形态 is one of the best defensive racials around. 山丘之力 is an excellent offensive bonus, especially late in an expansion when Critical Strike chances are high. Dwarves are very tanky!

人类 - Another great Alliance race. 人类精魂 is a very good bonus to all secondary stats, and 外交 is the best out-of-combat bonus available to any race.

黑铁矮人 - The ability to remove bleeds with 烈焰之血 can be an extremely strong defensive bonus! 饱经战火 is also a simple, effective bonus that's always good. 地下城探索者 is a really good movement speed increase that is active in the majority of dungeon and raid content.

机械侏儒 - Robo-Tank activate! Mechagnomes have a variety of passive and active racial abilities (紧急意外防护, 战斗分析, and 超有机光影发生器) that make them good, versatile tanks.

Horde

血精灵 - 奥术洪流 makes Blood Elves great in Mythic+. In raids, 奥术敏锐 keeps them decently competitive. They're good, but not great.

至高岭牛头人 - The best Horde tank race overall. Lacks the unique Mythic+ power of Blood Elf, but gains a nice AoE CC in 蛮牛冲撞.

牛头人 - The highest DPS race due to 健硕, by a small margin. 战争践踏 is a helpful AoE stun as well.

狐人 - The fuzziest Horde Allied race! Vulpera have versatile racial bonuses that grant them a bit of offensive or defensive flexibility.

Pandaren

熊猫人 - Still great. Don't hate.

Alliance

库尔提拉斯人 - Kul Tiran Humans make truly excellent Brewmaster Monks. Their passive 英勇无畏 is incredibly powerful, and makes them the best Alliance tank race, hands down. Assuming you don't die or overheal (both of which are possible, of course), this equates to another 2% damage reduction. Wild. 强力一击 is an interesting CC and displacement tool, and while the cast time is lame, you can move while casting without interrupting it, so it's still decent enough.

矮人 - One of the best tank races around. 石像形态 has been devalued slightly by Kyrian's 静谧之瓶, but it is still a terrific bonus -- you can never have too many defensive cooldowns! 山丘之力 is an excellent offensive bonus, especially late in an expansion when Critical Strike chances are high.

机械侏儒 - Robo-Tank activate! Mechagnomes have the ability to briefly taunt mobs off of themselves via 超有机光影发生器, and gain a decent amount of stat budget from 战斗分析. 紧急意外防护 provides a valuable defensive lifeline, making them an all-around solid race for Brewmasters.

人类 - A good race option due to 生存意志 and 人类精魂. 外交 is an extremely nice non-combat bonus, as well. The best offensive Alliance race, although the difference is not that large.

暗夜精灵 - A decent option due to 迅捷’s dodge chance (although Monk’s Mastery diminishes its value considerably). 艾露恩之触 is counted as daytime when in dungeons and raids, which makes it pretty good for Brewmaster Monks.

黑铁矮人 - Another Battle for Azeroth Allied Race that can be Brewmaster Monks. Their racial spell 饱经战火 is a decent bonus for tanks, but it falls far short of the Kul Tiran Human bonus. 烈焰之血 is a little less reliable, but it can be immensely powerful for removing bleed debuffs.

Horde

赞达拉巨魔 - Zandalari Trolls are a noteworthy Brewmaster Monk option. While they were initially remarkable for being extremely bad, 再生！ was quickly hotfixed to no longer break upon taking damage from Stagger ticks. This has upgraded Zandalari Trolls from "Really Bad" to "Really Good." The ability to Roll out of danger and heal up quickly is extremely nice, although obviously a lot more valuable in Mythic+ dungeons than in raids. Duh. 帕库之拥 is the best overall Loa racial option. 卡格瓦之拥 is slightly better for overall damage reduction and 邦桑迪之拥 is slightly better for maximizing single target DPS, but 帕库之拥 provides a superior mix of offensive and defensive value. It is a strong AoE DPS option, and that's really where tank DPS matters most.

狐人 - Vulpera gain passive damage reduction from 火焰抗性 and 警觉之嗅, and the power to self-heal or deal damage via 袋里乾坤. The race is not quite top-tier for offensive or defensive value, but it is still competitive with the majority of other races, and they are pretty cute. If you like the look, go for it!

血精灵 - The crit chance from 奥术敏锐 is valuable, and while 奥术洪流 was changed from a silence into a dispel, that's still amazingly powerful in dungeons! Blood Elves remain a top-tier racial option for Horde tanks of all classes.

至高岭牛头人 - The passive Versatility bonus from 登山家 and damage reduction passive 皮糙肉厚 stand head and shoulders above all other defensive racial abilities for Horde tanks. 蛮牛冲撞 also provides a mobility tool and AoE CC. Highmountain Tauren make amazing tanks, and their heritage armor looks great.

牛头人 - The highest Horde Brewmaster DPS race due to 健硕, but only by a tiny margin. Tauren tanks are classics for good reason, 耐久 and 战争践踏 are simple, powerful bonuses and useful in almost any situation. Despite all the newly-added Allied Races, Tauren remain a top-tier tank race. Moo.

亡灵 - While they sim very slightly ahead of Blood Elves and Zandalari Trolls as the second-best DPS Brewmaster race due to 哀伤之触, don't buy into the hype. The difference is extremely small and Undead offer limited utility aside from that damage proc. 被遗忘者的意志 is good, but that's about the only unique thing they have going on.

Pandaren

熊猫人 - The iconic Monk race and a top-tier choice for either faction. 美食家 is very competitive with every racial stat or throughput ability, and 弹力轻功 is valuable a lot more often than you’d expect. While 震山掌 is somewhat underwhelming, it can provide another instant CC button in a pinch.

Overall a great guide. The most you can get though, for people like me, is actually getting into the game and going. As for BFA so far, I feel BrM are still very good overall(no surprise). I’ve ran most mythic dungeons in the first week and you feel squishy until about 320-330 ilvl. After that you feel completely in control depending on your healer. I’ve ran with a holy pally and Mw mostly, hot healers are always going to agree more with BrM. The biggest problems that I’ve noticed in the mythics were the mob sizes. We forget we don’t have legendaries no more so the real WoW is in full affect. I personally run guard and it’s just more streamline on a very short cd

"Flavor Effects: Zen Flight is a fun bit of neat Monk flavor. It’s not a replacement for a flying mount, but it is useful as a slow fall mechanic!"

seems like it does not work in many places and relying on it for slow fall instead of goblin glider etc will get you killed
