Augmentation Evoker Rotations in Dragonflight
At its most basic, the bread and butter of Augmentation gameplay is all about weaving together your key damaging abilities and group buffs in order to maximize the damage output of your group.
The general rhythm of the rotation involves playing around the 30-second cooldown of
黑檀之力
, which we aim to synchronize with allies' damage. We cast
炽火龙鳞
on the tank, and alternate casts of
先知先觉
between our chosen DPS players.
时间之沙
allows us to extend the duration of
黑檀之力
through our damaging rotation: casting
地壳激变
and
火焰吐息
at appropriate ranks on cooldown, spending resources on
喷发
, and filling downtime with
活化烈焰
(or
碧蓝打击
).
Roughly once every two minutes, we can cast
亘古吐息
for a major group-wide damage amplifier, and while I actually recommend playing
丝缕交织
in the current patch, a well-placed
时间跳跃
can make for an especially potent cooldown window most suitable for bosses and large packs.
Augmentation Evoker Main Ideas
The general rotation for Augmentation Evoker in most PVE scenarios can be roughly outlined as follows:
Pre-cast and maintain

on chosen DPS players.
Use

roughly on cooldown.

is up to extend its duration and deal damage.

Augmentation Evoker Opener
In Patch 10.2,
黑檀之力
and
先知先觉
buffs clear on pull in raid, which greatly simplifies the pre-pull sequence. A lengthy pre-pull timer is not required.
The goal is to have
先知先觉
active on two ideal DPS targets before casting
黑檀之力
to ensure that the chosen targets are also selected for
黑檀之力
, and will benefit from smart buff targeting.
In Season 3, I recommend playing

in all PvE content, which is accompanied by the following opener.

Augmentation Evoker Rotation and Priority
The rotation and cast priority for Augmentation Evoker does not significantly change between Single Target and AoE.
Note that Augmentation deals slightly more personal damage to its primary target due to effects like

filler, but not to a significant degree.

How to Use Prescience in Dragonflight Season 3
先知先觉
received a few changes in Season 3, between the addition of charges in Patch 10.2, and the new Tier 31 set bonus which occasionally provides you with a double duration
先知先觉
buff.
To use
先知先觉
to your advantage in Season 3, you will want to plan out the fight in terms of 30 second damage windows, and identify which four players you would ideally like to buff with
黑檀之力
in each of these windows. After that, it's up to you to manage your active
先知先觉
buffs in order to select the best targets in each window.
For example, you may decide that you want to buff four specific targets for the first minute of the fight, and then once their cooldowns have run their course, swap to four new players at the one-minute mark. Suppose we cast
先知先觉
on cooldown onto targets with our
黑檀之力
until let's say roughly the 40 second mark, at which point we realize our next
先知先觉
cast will be double duration.
We cast our double duration
先知先觉
on one of the players on our "one-minute" buff list, and then hold our next charge of
先知先觉
until a few seconds before the one-minute mark. At this point we can cast
先知先觉
on the next two players and start a new
黑檀之力
window with at least 3 players selected through
先知先觉
, and only one player selected by proximity, giving us a high degree of control over who we buff.
This idea is something that you will want to keep in mind at all times when playing Augmentation in Season 3. Identify which targets are the best recipients of your buffs in each 30-second window, and either use
先知先觉
actively on current buff targets, or look ahead and build charges for the next 30-second window.

Personal Cooldowns
Empower Spells
The key to making the most of
火焰吐息
and
地壳激变
as an Augmentation Evoker is ideally to ensure that you
only cast these abilities while
黑檀之力
is up
in order to extend the duration of
黑檀之力
as well as direct
变换流沙
towards nearby buffed allies.
In terms of what Empower rank to use,
Augmentation usually empowers
火焰吐息
to maximum rank
in order to best benefit from
飞扑烈焰
. This deals more overall damage and each projectile has its own individual chance chance to generate
精华迸发
. Even in single target, this can cleave onto injured allies and have additional chances to grant
精华迸发
assuming there was effective healing.
If all nearby allies are perfectly healthy and there is no chance to benefit from
飞扑烈焰
, only then would Rank 1
火焰吐息
be more appropriate.
Empowering
地壳激变
simply expands the radius of the spell's area of effect, so
in Single Target Rank 1
地壳激变
is entirely sufficient
. In AoE situations, you will want to uprank
地壳激变
such that as many enemies as possible are within the area of effect.

The best use for
扭转天平
in general gameplay is to
cast it with
火焰吐息
during the the two-minute
亘古吐息
cycle
. This provides you with the most consistent value over a given fight, and aligns with your goal of generally casting
火焰吐息
at max rank.
黑檀之力
黑檀之力
is Augmentation's main group buff on a baseline 30-second cooldown, which encourages you to
cast this ability as often as possible while aligning with the DPS cooldowns of other players
. This naturally drives us to think of fights in terms 30-second windows where we pool resources and try to cast
黑檀之力
at the start of one of these windows, unless we're instead choosing to extend an existing
黑檀之力
cast and carry that duration forward.
黑檀之力
is beholden to the "pandemic" mechanic of duration extension, meaning that you can cast
黑檀之力
while it's active and add the remaining duration onto the new spell cast, provided that this is less than 30% of the base duration of the buff.
If you want to continue to buff the same targets for an additional round of
黑檀之力
, aim to re-cast
黑檀之力
with no more than 3-4 seconds remaining
in order to avoid losing uptime.
Refreshing
黑檀之力
in this way will update the remaining duration on you and all existing
黑檀之力
targets; it will not choose new targets unless you explicitly allow the buff to fall off, which is circumstantial depending on the situation. Sometimes extending is fine, and other times it may be preferable to let
黑檀之力
fall off.
It is worth noting that the main stat granted by
黑檀之力
does not snapshot, but does only update once every couple of seconds. This doesn't have a significant consequence for gameplay as it's difficult to play around the exact update timing, just be aware that attempting to snapshot Intellect buffs is of limited value.
亘古吐息
The best usage for
亘古吐息
at the end of the day comes down to
aligning the 10-second Temporal Wounds window with the highest-burst windows of your buffed allies' DPS rotations
. The timing in the recommended opener for example is approximately similar timing to the short ramp expected for most specs before they begin dealing damage in the opener.
It is especially important to
be flexible with the exact timing of
亘古吐息
; Mythic Raid encounters for example often have very specific timings where players choose to use their DPS cooldowns, and being aware of these timings is fundamentally key to making the most of
亘古吐息
.
Lastly, certain specs have different "ramp" requirements so to speak, when it comes to how long they need before they deal peak damage in the opener.. It's up to you at the end of the day to assess the needs of the players that you are buffing, and whether it's worth delaying your usage of
亘古吐息
to better align with these burst windows.

In Season 3, I recommend using

in all PvE content, which replaces
时间跳跃
in the Augmentation kit. I will still leave this discussion here on how Time Skip can be best used in raid as a situational pick.

naturally encourages you to set up windows where multiple strong abilities are all on cooldown, at which point channeling
时间跳跃
results in tremendous value returned over a number of different spells.
If using
时间跳跃
, I recommend that you first use
时间跳跃
in the opener
following your Empower spells
火焰吐息
and
地壳激变
, and after casting
亘古吐息
in order to reduce the cooldowns of all of your major offensive spells. This allows
火焰吐息
and
地壳激变
to come off cooldown much sooner, extending the duration of the opening
黑檀之力
, and applying
变换流沙
to two additional targets while all of your buffs are in play. With
嗜血
and other external damage cooldowns also used in the opening 30-40 seconds of the fight, this allows you to absolutely maximize your buffing potential during this window.
From there, you have the option to essentially
use
时间跳跃
on cooldown to maximize your buff uptime and not lose uses of
时间跳跃
, or alternatively you can hold
时间跳跃
for your next cast of
亘古吐息
to achieve a similar burst window as in the opener. Generally speaking, which of these approaches you choose may depend on specific fight timings or at what point in the fight you need the additional damage.
Again, generally speaking
丝缕交织
is preferred for all PvE content in Season 3, which also has the advantage of being easier to play. However,
时间跳跃
does have the potential to output slightly more burst damage under certain circumstances, and is worth at least keeping in mind as a possible niche pick for specific situations.
Green Spells for Filler
While normally pushing healing spells such as
青翠之拥
and
翡翠之花
comes at the cost of some DPS, you'll note that the recommended talent builds for Augmentation generally include the two talents
上古之火
and
绯红适性
. This combination of talents actually makes it worthwhile from a DPS standpoint to do effective healing with your Green spells
青翠之拥
and
翡翠之花
, and because they're both instant cast abilities, they make for excellent filler spells.
Simply cast one of your Green healing spells where you would normally cast your
活化烈焰
filler if you are able to make use of the effective healing, and remember to actually cast your 40% faster cast time
活化烈焰
before your next Green spell in order to not over-cap or waste
绯红适性
value. This increases your overall healing per second and generally improves survivability without a notable loss in DPS. Remember: don't forget your greens!
Support Buffs
Augmentation Evoker can be described as a "force multiplier", and currently deals around 30% of their damage directly, while the other 70% of their contribution comes from layering various stacking buffs and damage multipliers onto other players.

I have a question regarding
先知先觉
use and what it actually affects. Does the ability only affect the buffed player's abilities and spells, or also their pet's abilities and spells?
You mention Unholy Death Knight as a very good target for Prescience on pull due to high burst of the spec, which revolves around Army and Gargoyle, but leave out Demo Lock which has a higher burst ceiling than any class in the game do to Pit Lord and Tyrant (and all the demons summoned from Nether Portal along with the normal demons being summoned: Dreadstalkers, Grimoire Felguard, Vilefiend, Imps (from Hand of Guldan), etc.) all active at the same time.
My question is, if Prescience's buff flows down to pets and allows for their damage to be affected by

allowing spell/abilities to strike again for 15%, wouldn't that put Demo Lock at the top (or close to) priority on pull for
