After that, you can buy 魅影精灵 and upgrade it. Sell the upgraded version on AH.

I love the guide, however i did find that there were a few unique pets not included in the list; ravasaur hatchling while it does share some moves with the other raptors they are all fairly hard to acquire and the ravasaur in my opinion is one of the hardest to get

In my opinion, Widow Spiderling does not belong on the "Hard-to-get" list. Seeing as the spawn is 100% predictable, and as there are plenty of spawns every night, it is not a rare pet.

I would also add the Giraffe Calf as a hard to get, again if you are looking for a rare. That thing took me over a month across two servers to find. If I'd known then what I know now, I'd have just captured a poor of the right breed and kept it for a stone later on.

Disgusting Ooozeling is also a bit of a pain. Not really hard, just tedious if you are unlucky with drops. Actually, pretty tedious even if you are working to an average..

There are also some of the raid pets which can be tough to get solo (Molten Core and the Tower of Whatsit in Deadwind Pass aren't too hard, but getting past the number 2 boss in Blackwing Spire has so far defeated me)

EDIT (6.2.3): My comment is not that valid as starting WoD we can get as many stones as we want through garrison and pet missions, so I won't consider farming them with pet battles anymore.

Might add Tiny Bog Beast to Elemental Secondary cause its an annoying farm with a long respawn timer

Great guide, I'll be checking it when I used my stones now I think.

Just a note that Arctic Fox Kit and Unborn Val'kyr both should probably be added to the Hard-to-get list since the fox is weather-dependant, and the Val'kyr has only 3 POTENTIAL spawns in every Northrend zone , which makes their capture and chance to farm ridiculously low.

I think you should add to the list of "HARD" pets to get Scorpling since they are really really slow to spawn, and not always rare.

Also, I have struggled with Emerald Proto-Whelp
and Stunted Shardhorn are also slow to spawn, and not very many of them, and not very many spawn spots. The Shardhorn pet also shares those same spawn spots with other beasts in the zone.

And of course the Fluxfire Feline is hard enough to find a rare that most people won't want to spend the time on it.

Also the Wanderer's Festival Hatchling spawns only 2 times a week, and often there are so many people there that you don't get one.

Under flying pets > Secondary > Snowy Owl Seasonal pet. (November 1st => Last of February)

You should update this as the Snowy Owl no longer starts spawning in November as Blizz has changed it to move with the normal "winter" season dates, this year (2013) was December 21st.

Though anyone living in North Dakota like me, knows that it is already winter by November

Imho Macabre Marionette should be in the list somewhere, you can get one only in the Day of the Dead(or buy at AH later) and she's always of green quality.

Would consider adding Rabid Nut Varmint 5000 . I spent about 4 days farming this pet just to give up and use a stone on it. Limited spawn areas and some of them in phasing areas.

I'd like to suggest adding Tiny Twister to the Elemental secondary. Sure, there's the "killing other battle pets until one spawns" approach, but by my experience, that doesn't always work, and it's time-consuming enough that holding out for a rare is absurd.

I also think that the Wildhammer Gryphon Hatchling might qualify as a Flying secondary. It isn't hard to find, yes, but I've seen many people highly recommending a P/P breed; these guys come in basically every combo there is, so finding a rare one takes someone who's either really lucky or a masochist.

I'd take Lil' Bling off the hard-to-find list. They're down below 200-300g on the Auction House on most servers.

The unique skillset definitely makes them worth acquiring and upgrading, but they're not hard to get.

I've got over 350 Battle Pets of all kinds and I've noticed in last month or so the Flawless Battle Stones are just NOT dropping. Did the drop rate get nerfed recently?

On the Secondary tab of the Magic section, you put Disgusting Oozeling. Since those are rare by default, I believe you meant Jade Oozeling, a wild pet that is a PITA to farm.

Great guide and list! However I do have a question if anyone could answer...is there a particular best time to use a stone in regards to pet level? I understand that any pet above level 15 may lose 1-2 levels when stoned, but should I wait until max level to convert to rare? Or can I just use a stone on say...a level 12 Uncommon pet and be done with it?

I found 板牙幼崽 and 暗影孢子蝠 a real pain to find to find once let alone a rare and with the ease of getting stones with 闪亮的宠物符咒 they worth stoning

Hey!

I think you should add 毒毒 to Magic pets.
It's obtainable only through 毒毒 and as most pets that come from usable items have the same quality and are not RNG, I think it only comes as uncommon.

In WoD, you can now get the Marked Flawless Battle-Stone (MFBS) from a lvl 2 or higher Garrison Menagerie (from NPC Lio the Lioness).

You must do daily pet battles for pet charms which can be traded at the Garrison Menagerie (lvl 2) for the Marked Flawless Battle-Stone. It takes 15 pet charms for one MFBS, and by earning pet charms each day through the Draenor pet battle dailies, you can upgrade your pets to rares at a fairly decent pace.

You still lose up to two levels if you upgrade a pet that is 15 or greater, but you can also buy the Flawless Battle-Training stone for 3 pet charms and get back those levels lost after upgrading if you have a higher level battle pet. One training stone gives back one level. The Mystery Bag, for 2 pet charms, gives a random Battle-Training stone that is specific to pet families, so it costs less but is more of a gamble.

I hope this helps a few folks out there who need some rares. It has sure helped me!

And, to throw an additional wrench in the selection process, there is a new stone that you get from the Menagerie with a once off quest per character , which will level a single pet to 25 终极战斗训练石.

Wowhead has a suggestion guide for its use - The Ultimate Battle-Training Stone .

The Battle Pet Master in the Menagerie also sells 有标记的无瑕战斗石 for 15 闪亮的宠物符咒, and 无瑕战斗训练石 - which grants one level to a pet - for 3 闪亮的宠物符咒.

This guide is fantastic! However, one of the entries in the Mechanical section is incorrect. I can confirm that Lil' Bling can indeed be learned as Rare. Currently it is marked as one who only can be learned as Uncommon.

I love seeing a pet battle-stone guide. I noticed under the undead section there is no mention of the Ghastly Kid and the Eye of the Legion. I find these two pets in combination with a random undead work well against a lot of the Battle Master combos. I don't think it's necessarily a good PVP combo, but I thought I might mention these pets because they don't do too bad in the dailies.

I am amazed that with this amazing list and all interest for it, and no where in all the comments is there a note about the ^&*!@-to-get pet that is missing from it all.
There is one pet that is sooo hard to get,( for many impossible), that is forgotten by you all.

I will go against normal praxis here and for once I will NOT tell you the name of the pet. So believe it or not,
but one amazing pet is missing.

This was so unbelievable. I looked and looked and even made a textssearch but,... nothing. It's missing.

Not sure if you're still updating this, and i know you said a moth is a moth, but i spent many a hour in Talador trying to find that crimson moth, it isn't super rare but only one spawns on the entire map. finally found one and it was poor. Being a nutso petcollector where i made ballons and kites rares lol.....should probably stone Crimson moth. Great guide.

The Nursery Spider, Ridgeback Piglet, and Thaumaturgical Piglet should be added to the beast primary section :)
(Unlike the rest of the purchased/looted/crafted Legion pets which are blue, these three are green by default.)

Title reads, "Battle stones and you" however, there's no remark on where / how to obtain battle stones? Would be nice to have that here for us newbs who are just now getting into taming. Other than that, a wealth of info about pets here, and what to consider before using a stone on one.

Unborn Valkyre spawns are greatly increased. I saw 3 in under 30 minutes battling in Icecrown alone.

Is there any way to trade breed-specific Battle-Training Stones (the yellow ones that raise pets a level) for the Flawless Battle-Training Stones (still yellow, but not breed specific)? I know that you can trade the Flawless ones (the blue ones that make a pet rare) with Audrey Burnhep in Stormwind (and probably at the trainer in Ogrimarr), but can't find any info on trading the yellow ones. Any ideas?
