New Patch 8.3 Tailoring Recipes
Patch 8.3 brings many new and desirable Tailoring Recipes (ilvl 440/455/470 cloth armor with a socket), but no new materials are required. Like the 8.2 new recipes, each crafted item has a gem socket and higher-level recipes are learned through discovery.

Void Focus - Unlocking and Upgrading
You will need to unlock the Void Focus and upgrade it to its max level in order to craft all of the Patch 8.3 Visions of N'Zoth recipes (ilvl 440/455/470 gear). The Void Focus is very similar to Patch 8.2's Abyssal Focus, as the Heroic and Mythic level crafts will require the Void Focus to be unlocked and upgraded.
The Void Focus is located in the Chamber of Heart. Unlocking and upgrading the Void Focus is permanent. Once crafted, you can always craft gear that requires the Void Focus. The Heroic-level craft is called the "Empowered Void Focus" and the Mythic level is called "Dreadful Void Focus".
How to unlock the Void Focus:
Farm mobs in N'Zoth invasions or Lesser Visions for
and use the item
Farm more mobs in the same places for 10x
and then open your professions and craft the Void Focus
While farming mobs, you're also looking for your Profession patterns. If you've collect 10x
and haven't gotten your patterns, keep farming even more N'Zoth mobs!
This grants you the
quest which you can turn in at Wrathion which unlocks the Void Focus and
Normal Crafting gear (ilvl 440)
.
Accept

. Completing this unlocks
Heroic Crafting gear (ilvl 455)
.
Accept
which requires you to collect 200x
. Completing this unlocks

Patch 8.2 Changes
There are several changes coming to Tailoring along with many other professions in Patch 8.2.
The maximum skill level of Zandalari and Kul Tiran Tailoring is increasing to 175 (Old cap was 150).
Most of the new patterns will require you to level up your skill level to this new cap in order to craft the best gear.
New Recipes for Notorious Combatant gear (370 item level).
New Recipes for The Eternal Palace raid-level gear (410/425/440 item level).
Scrapping Eternal Palace raid-level crafted gear refunds slightly less the amount of Expulsom spent to craft it.
Raid quality gear no longer requires materials from dungeons and raids, and is instead unlocked by completing the Abyssal Focus quests.
Raid quality gear now always comes with a gem socket.
New Materials
New recipes in 8.2 require
, a completely new cloth reagent found on the creatures of Nazjatar exclusively.
New Recipes
One notable change to the new crafting recipes is that the high item level gear now always comes with a gem socket. This makes Tailoring crafting gear very desirable and competitive with Jewelcrafting rings, which before was the only crafting gear to have sockets.

The Abyssal Focus
In Patch 8.2, the ability to craft the raid quality (410/425/440) gear is a bit different than what it was for Uldir and Battle of Dazar'alor. New recipes no longer directly require materials from dungeons and raids such as
,
and
. Instead, you need to unlock and upgrade a crafting-station-like system called the Abyssal Focus. The Abyssal Focus is located on Nazjatar, so the intro to Nazjatar must be completed to access it.
Unlocking and upgrading the Abyssal Focus is permanent. Once upgraded, you can always craft gear that requires the Abyssal Focus at a level equal to or below the Abyssal Focus's upgrade level. When first unlocked it will be a "Restored Abyssal Focus". From there it upgrades to an Empowered Abyssal Focus and finally a Radiating Abyssal Focus.

. Similar to
and
, they are used to craft new Epic quality profession gear coming with Patch 8.1.
: Obtained from bosses when running Heroic and Mythic level dungeons in BfA and used for crafting new epic 385 item level profession gear.
: Obtained from bosses in the new raid Battle for Dazar'alor and used for crafting new epic 400 and 415 item level profession gear.

Battle for Azeroth Changes
The Tailoring skill is split by faction,
for Alliance and
for Horde.
The maximum profession skill levels have been lowered for each profession tier:
Classic professions have a maximum of 300.
Outland, Northrend, Cataclysm, and Pandaria professions have a maximum of 75.
Draenor and Legion professions have a maximum of 100.
Battle for Azeroth professions have a maximum of 150.
First-Aid was removed as a profession and Tailors now have access to creating bandages.
Tailoring Only Perks
Tailors can create epic BoP cloth armor, up to ilvl 415.
Tailors have access to cloak enchants only they can use such as
.
Tailors can make and use
, a piece of follower gear that gives a chance to reward cloth from successful missions.
Learning Tailoring
Battle for Azeroth Tailoring is split by faction,
for Alliance and
for Horde, and can be learned for 50 gold from the respective Tailoring trainers for each faction. These trainers will be your main source for basic Tailoring recipes.
Tailoring Trainers:
located in Dazar'alor.
located in Boralus.
If you ever have trouble finding your profession trainers, you can always ask a city guard for directions. This will place a marker on your map at the NPC's location.
In Battle for Azeroth, the recipe ranking system is still present, but only for the rare quality recipes. Each increased rank simply decreases the amount of reagents needed to craft the item. Unlike in Legion, all Rank 1 recipes require a minimum Tailoring skill level in order to learn from your Tailoring trainer. The only Rank 2 recipes that require a higher Tailoring skill level to create are bags and the
. All Rank 2 and Rank 3 recipes require the previous rank in order to learn.
Leveling Tailoring
While the maximum profession level was lowered, the method for increasing you skill level is still the same. Simply crafting items of that profession will raise your Tailoring level.
Unlike in Legion, Tailoring recipes now require different skill levels to learn, so leveling your Tailoring skill will be required in order to produce more advanced items.
As your profession level increases, certain recipes will become less likely to increase your profession level when crafting. You can tell the level of likeliness based on the color of the recipe in the crafting window. Orange recipes will always increase your profession level, yellow has a decent chance, and increases from green recipes are rare. Gray recipes will never increase your profession level.
The color of a recipe also depends on its rank. For example, a rank 1 recipe may turn yellow once your skill level is 25, but the rank 2 version turns yellow at skill level 50. This means that getting the new rank will change a yellow recipe back to orange for some time.
Leveling Path
Leveling Tailoring is a simple process. In general, it is good to craft any orange or yellow recipes that you plan to use, but this path will focus more on reaching skill level 150 in a cost-effective way. If you are looking for a more specific guide that tells you exactly the number of reagents you need for each step of the way, check out
this guide
over at WoW-professions!
Levels 1-75
To start off, craft
until around skill level 70. While this recipe turns green at skill level 42, they only require 2x
which is significantly cheaper than other options. If you do not want to rely on the RNG of green crafts, you can move on to the next step sooner, though it may cost more materials overall.
Next, craft enough
to hit skill level 75. The reason you should craft
over other pieces is due to the recipe going yellow at 75, while others of similar cost turn yellow much sooner.
Levels 75-150
From here pick up
from your trainer. It is very cheap to craft compared to other recipes at this level and will not turn grey until 150. You can use this recipe to get all the way into the 140s. Along the way, you can also craft
/
and rank 2 Battle Flags. Try to focus on
for as long as possible since the high-level recipes all require large amounts of it anyways.
Crafting Reagents
Battle for Azeroth introduces new crafting reagents for Tailoring.

Used for basic recipes.

Used in most recipes. Can be purchased from trade goods vendors.

:
Used in the most advanced recipies. Crafted using
, which requires a Tailoring level of 75 to learn.
These reagents are primarily found as drops from mobs across Kul Tiras and Zandalar.
Battle for Azeroth has also introduced something called the Scrapper. These machines can be found near the Master Scrapper NPCs
or
. Scrapping gear destroys the items, but gives you reagents in return. It is similar to disenchanting, except the reagents recieved depend on the item scrapped. Any gear can be scrapped, not just crafted items.
Scrapping cloth armor will yield cloth reagents from the scrapper. There is also a small chance to receive
when Scrapping. In general, higher quality items will have a better yield of reagents when scrapping. Consumable items cannot be scrapped, so battle flags will not be scrappable.

Battle Flags
Tailoring can now create three types of Battle Flags which give a benefit to you and your party. Each flag has a 1 minute cooldown.
Each flag gives a different benefit:
Phalanx Defense:
Drops a flag onto the battlefield that decreases damage taken by 15% for all allies within 15 yards of its location.
Rallying Swiftness:
Bear a battle flag on your back, increasing you and your party's mounted speed within 10 yards by 15% for 15 seconds.
Spirit of Freedom:
Drop a flag onto the battlefield that decreases the amount of time one is affected by crowd controlling effects for all allies within 15 yards of its location.

Back Enchants
Tailors now have access to three back enchantments. These enchantments are exclusive to Tailors and will bind any back gear when used.
Each enchantment has a different benefit:
:
Permanently embroiders your cloak with discreet spellthread, reducing the amount of threat you generate with attacks and spells.
:
Permanently embroiders your cloak with feathery spellthread, allowing you to fall farther before taking damage.
:
Permanently embroiders your cloak with resilient spellthread, preventing you from being dazed while running or walking in Kul Tiras or Zandalar.
Each enchantment can be learned from your profession trainer once you reach a skill level of 75. All three require the same reagents to use: 20x
, 8x
, and 10x
.
Extra Items
Tailors can make several other useful items that are not gear pieces.
: A bandage crafted from 2x
.
: A better bandage crafted from 2x
. Required a skill level of 50 to learn.
: A net that can be used to slow targets. Crafted using 10x

. Requires a skill level of 50 to learn.
: A piece of follower gear that gives a chance to reward cloth from successful missions. Crafted using 75x

. Requires a skill level of 75 to learn. This item binds on creation, so only Tailors can use it!
Warfront Contributions
Warfronts are a new feature in Battle for Azeroth. Part of the Warfronts are daily quests from NPCs. Each NPC is linked with a profession and asks for a contribution of a random item specific to that profession. The donation can only be made once per character per Warfronts Cycle and the items asked for are randomized every cycle. Completing these quests rewards you with 150 reputation for
/
and 500 Azerite Power.

Although you detailed that the previous expansion skills are broken out into individual sections. How and where are they now learned? What are their requirements? This seems like a big point of missing knowledge for the new system.

IIRC, at some point in the beta, people were saying that cloth only dropped for tailors (some people liked, some didn;t). In its current iteration, does cloth drop for all players or just tailors?

nice, finally a new bag..not sure i think the extra 2 slots are really helpful..but i guess if you got your bank full of them and every backpack slot has one great..personally i don't do that
1 40 slot, 3 profession bags
never needed anything else..
bags get full summon jeeves or guild herald or w/e pet you hve that is a vendor (or walter if you are in draenor) or hop on your mammoth or yak.
2 slots really isn't gonna matter much for those who have profession bags. it will be a big deal for bank storage i guess.

Nice guide! Everything's easy to pick out at a glance.
I find it odd that there's a full set of Tidespray gear, but the Honorable Combatant's is missing head, shoulders, and chest. But I like the 385 ilvl gloves and pants, which puts it on par with Mythic Uldir gear. The Honorable Combatant's seems to be just below level 120 normal dungeon gear and in the middle of world quest rewards. Which, okay, but I'll probably only make it for the transmog, as world quests and dungeons are going to be much faster than gathering enough materials to make the whole set.
But, overall, looking forward to the new Tailoring, and interested in how the daily quests are going to impact AH pricing.

I'm not sure I like the term "skill squish" - BfA has 150 skill points compared to 100 for Legion. It was a separation more than a squish.

Is it me or are gear-crafting professions (tailoring, leatherworking, blacksmithing) really pointless again?
The high level gear just seems to be more trouble than it's worth, a combination of BoP, random stats, recipe discovery by crafting the lower ones (what's the chance for that?), staggering material costs, and no way to re-roll the stats just seems like a direct route to disappointment. JUST dinged 120 and finally took the time to really look at my tailoring recipe book makes me regret not dropping it for herbalism.

I have scrapped 1980x
浪息亚麻护腕
.
This is what I got:
326x
驱灵金
3057x
浪息亚麻布
1327x
尼龙线
This means, that for each
浪息亚麻护腕
I got on average:
0.165x
驱灵金
1.544x
浪息亚麻布
0.670x
尼龙线
So basically I got 1
驱灵金
for every 6
浪息亚麻护腕
. In addition to that I also got some of the
浪息亚麻布
and
尼龙线
back.
According to the data I have collected the quality of the items that are scrapped does not have any impact on the amount of
驱灵金
that is created.
I also scrapped other tailoring items, that are more expensive to craft. I did not have the impression that I got out more
驱灵金
from those items. However, the data suggested that the amount of Linen and Nylon returned might be slightly higher for more expensive items, but my sample size was too small to reliably indicate something like that.

This guide is great!
Unfortunately it looks like the
Rough-hooked Tidespray Linen
mats have changed. It now requires:
Tidespray Linen
(75)
Nylon Thread
(20)
Expulsom
(30)
Hydrocore

i really think blizz should of upped the amount of cloth dropped off each mob. the other thing thats a big of a pain is the whole 2 slot upgrade on bags. should be like a 40 slot bag or something.

Somto get rank 2 and 3 for the new 82 recipes we HAVE to PvP? And enough to get all the things that we need?
Nice Blizz...good way to leave our people who don’t PvP? How stupid.

Do all the new recipes say you need Kul-Tiran Tailoring? Hope they also mean Zandalari also.

Help! I unlearned tailoring to pick up mining for a few week. Couldn’t get the first quest of mining to pop so I went back to tailoring. Pretty sure there’s a to,e to use to get my recipes back. Or do I have r=to relieved them all?

What the hell counts as an 'N'Zoth cultist?,' the mobs you need to kill to get the recipe drops? No one seems to know. While the whole N'Zoth invention/design is ridiculously indecipherable, figuring out how to get this recipe drop is one of the worst. By the time you can even get the recipe to make 'Unsettling Seaweave Gloves/Breaches' your geared well enough not to need them; and since they're BoP it's wasted effort unless you want the 470 version, which means you have to scrape enough expulsom together to 'discover' the two follow-ons. Not to mention the first follow-on, Maddening Seaweave Gloves/Breaches which is probably just as useless by the time you get to it.
