Anima Conductors control and direct the anima streams to key areas in your Covenant's zone. Anima streams are like leylines, ancient pathways of the mysterious Anima power that flows through Shadowlands. During the Anima drought, these Anima flows were sealed off and no longer work correctly. By improving these Anima Conductors located in your Covenant Sanctum, you can open the flow of Anima, revealing new daily and world quests, treasures, enemy champions, and enhancements just for members of your Covenant.
This Shadowlands guide will explain how the Anima Conductors work in your Covenant sanctum, explaining perks such as the Chronicle of Lost Memories and how to unlock more daily and world quests.
All the Anima Conductors in each of the four Sanctums work the same way, but offer very different perks. For information on Covenant-specific rewards, see our separate guides for each:

Anima Conductor Changes in 9.1.5
Patch 9.1.5 introduced several changes to Anima Conductors:
Enhancement buffs now persist past daily reset and work as a buff within all non-instance zones in Shadowlands..
Players who have built and upgraded their covenant’s Anima Conductors will now receive Grateful Offerings from all covenant Callings, based on the highest level of Anima Conductor they’ve upgraded.
Anima can now be channeled to all unlocked locations each day (was one each day).
Finding Anima Conductors
The Anima Conductors are each located within the Sanctum of each of the four Covenants. They are large structures with an attending NPC who gives quests related to the operation of the Anima Conductor.

Upgrading Anima Conductors
Initially, the Anima Conductors lie dormant. Until you begin to improve them, no Anima will flow to those areas to bring up the new quests and other perks. The first thing you will need to do is invest in the Anima Conductor.
You will need to visit the Sanctum Upgrade NPC in your sanctum to donate Anima and other resources:

This NPC will give you a screen that will allow you to choose levels for your Anima Conductor, along with the other Sanctum areas:
The second circle highlighted with a gold ring shows your progress for your Anima Conductor. The bottom center shows your available resources, and the panel on the right shows what levels you already know. If you have enough resources to upgrade, the "Unlock Upgrade" button will appear in red and you will see a green arrow inside the tier you can research. When you are researching a tier, the display states "Researching" with a progress bar.
There are three levels of the Anima Conductor:
Level
Cost
Time to Research
Flowing Tendrils
贮藏心能
x1000; 1x
Redeemed Souls
1 Hour
Streaming Threads
贮藏心能
x5000; 8x
Redeemed Souls
12 Hours
Flowing Power
贮藏心能
x10000; 22x
Redeemed Souls
24 Hours
Each research tier opens two Anima streams, areas of your map which can be connected to your Sanctum through the old Anima networks. These open special perks, which will be presented shortly.
This is an example of the Anima Conductor screen with the first two areas open. You will see the target areas and what they offer. On the bottom of the screen is an indicator with ten pips. Each time you upgrade your Anima Conductor and get more streams activated, you will fill more pips.
In addition to the research costs, an Anima flow costs 25
贮藏心能
to open. You may open all available streams once per day. Streams close after 24 hours real time, requiring another 25
贮藏心能
to re-open the flow and regain access to that area. These may stay open permanently after being Reinforced (more on this later).
Be sure to activate all available streams every day. This will let you accumulate points faster toward opening streams permanently.
Level 1: Flowing Tendrils
After completing research on the first level of the Anima Conductor, you will receive a breadcrumb quest to activate it. This will direct you to the actual Anima Conductor. Click the scroll to activate it. (The scroll and animation bear more than a passing resemblance to opening Garrison buildings in Warlords of Draenor). The day starts at the server's normal daily reset time. When you open the Anima Conductor to activate a stream, it will tell you how many hours you have left to power a stream within that "day".
A stream will remain active for 24 hours after being activated, at least until you can Reinforce streams to keep them open permanently.
This opens two stream possibilities. The first gives you access to a special treasure, and the second gives you the ability to fight an enemy champion. The enemy champion is summoned via an item or NPC that only you and others who have this stream open can see.
Only the person streaming Anima can see and open the treasure and get the 2
感激之礼
reward. The Enemy Champions may be killed by anyone from any Covenant and will give 2
感激之礼
per day, for a possible total of 8
感激之礼
. This is the only activity that can be shared by people not streaming the anima.
Reminder: Each stream costs 25
贮藏心能
to open, and grants 2
感激之礼
by opening the chest or defeating the enemy foe. Rewards for these are modest, but may include special zone reputation rewards or access to special areas as well.
These initially show up on your Anima map, but once you leave your Sanctum, you will be able to see the new features it on your world map.
Level 2: Streaming Threads
Streaming Threads opens up two more possible Anima streams. Like the others, each stream costs 25
贮藏心能
to open.
These initially show up on your Anima map, but once you leave your Sanctum, you will be able to see the new features it on your world map.
The new World Quest that shows up is for your character alone. It is not account wide, even for alts who may be members of the same Covenant. Daily Quests show up as on the map. There is one new quest and it seems to persist. These do not count toward Covenant Callings.
World Quests and Daily Quests award 3
感激之礼
for each completed, and may give access to special Covenant-specific rewards, small amounts of Anima, gear, and Conduits.
Daily Quests renew with the reset, but you can activate streams anytime between reset cycles. You can only complete and turn in the Daily Quests while you are
actively
streaming to the correct location. If the stream shuts off before you've turned in Daily Quests, the quests will disappear from your quest log, even if you have completed them.
Level 3: Flowing Power
Flowing Power opens up the final two Anima stream areas. This opens the ability to challenge a Powerful Foe, and the opportunity to choose a Covenant-specific enhancement.
The Covenant enhancement is a once-daily buff you can get as a member of the Covenant, and works in all non-instanced zones in Shadowlands (no dungeons or raids). It's a powerful buff that persists for 24 hours through death, fearing, stuns, shapeshift, and confusion, cannot be cancelled, and does not break stealth. You can only choose 1 enhancement per day.
Powerful Foes are difficult mobs that may require many party members to help. Rewards vary per foe, and are outlined on the specific Covenant pages.
Killing the Powerful Foe rewards 3
感激之礼
per daily kill. This includes Powerful Foes from other Covenants.
Anima Conductor and Player Power: Chronicle of Lost Memories
Although the Anima Conductor does not look like it can directly increase player power initially, there is one item that can be obtained by doing your Anima Conductor activities that will directly increase player power.
The
失落记忆编年史
is an item that can be purchased via your Covenant's Renown vendor. This legendary book will grant you a memory for a
Legendary Effect
you have not yet learned. To obtain this item, you need to collect 35
感激之礼
, a special currency granted by doing activities with your Anima Conductor after reaching Level 3:
Special Treasure: 2
感激之礼
per daily chest.
Enemy Champion: 2
感激之礼
per daily kill.
Daily Quest: 3
感激之礼
per Conductor Daily Quest completed.
World Quest: 3
感激之礼
per Conductor World Quest completed.
Powerful Foe: 3
感激之礼
per daily kill.
Once you've build your Anima Conductor to level 3, Covenant Callings will also reward
感激之礼
As the
失落记忆编年史
requires 4 Anima Streams from your Conductor to be permanently empowered, you will need to
empower your Anima Conductor at least 40 times
to gain access to this item, so this serves more as a catch-up for any Legendary effects you might have missed. This is much easier since 9.1.5, since you can now open all available streams once per day.
Reinforcing Anima Streams
Reinforcing an Anima Stream means that you keep that stream open permanently, without the need to add more
贮藏心能
.
Each time you open a daily stream, you will earn one pip along the indicator at the bottom of your Anima Stream screen. Once you have filled all ten pips, you will be able to Reinforce a stream, which will keep it open permanently by spending all ten. and you will need to start over. It takes a minimum of 10 days and 500
贮藏心能
to reinforce a single stream.
First, you will be prompted to select a stream to Reinforce. It will ask you to confirm your choice.
Once you have Reinforced a stream, you will see Reinforced inside the tooltip for that area.
Reinforcement Priorities
Reinforce Streams as the abilities become available. You can greatly increase your ability to Reinforce streams quickly by making sure to open one stream every day, giving yourself that all-important pip.
Reinforcing 4 Anima streams also gives you the ability to purchase
失落记忆编年史
, an item that allows you to learn a random class Legendary you don't already know (this is for your class, not necessarily for your spec). These cost 5
感激之礼
and can be a good catch-up mechanism for those who either can't get lucky with drops or don't do many dungeons or raids.
The first one you Reinforce will probably happen while you only have your first level Anima Conductor available, so the question becomes whether you Reinforce the Treasure or the Boss. This is going to depend on your covenant and, to some extent, your class. For example, for the Necrolords, the Boss is much easier to do for most classes than the Treasure, which is buried in a super-heavy-population area where you can't help getting multiple adds. However, for my Necrolord rogue, the Treasure is easier because there are ways to sap and sneak around to get the items to open the treasure. For the Night Fae, the Treasure is definitely the easiest, since it's a simple puzzle in a largely mob-free area. Use the time to play with both and see which is easiest for you.
The second one you should try to Reinforce is the Daily Quests from Anima Conductor, Level 2. The Daily Quests offer the ability to earn up to 6
感激之礼
per day, along with other minor rewards. You will need many
感激之礼
to purchase certain items from your Renown Quartermaster, Reputation vendors, and your Covenant Armor vendor.
The third one to reinforce should be the World Quest stream from Anima Conductor, Level 2. There aren't a huge number of World Quests that pop up on any given day, and having one more to choose from can help make your choices easier. World Quests also reward 125 reputation with your zone's main faction --
晋升者
(Bastion),
不朽军团
(Necrolords).
荒猎团
(Ardenweald), and
收割者之庭
(Revendreth), and usually reward Anima.
After this, priorities depend on whether you have your Anima Conductor improved to Level 3. If you do, then
If you have your Anima Conductor open to level 3, the fourth priority for Reinforcement should be the Covenant Enhancements. While these only work within your specific Covenant area, these are powerful improvements that will help you all day long. If you don't have Level 3 open, you can now Reinforce either of the Level 1 streams you didn't reinforce before.
The fifth priority will be whichever you didn't pick for your fourth reinforcement -- Covenant Enhancements or the remaining Level 1 stream.
Your last priority will be Powerful Foe from Level 3. The high-end champions require a group of well geared players to conquer, so this can safely be put off for the time being.
To summarize, here is the Reinforcement priority list:
Level 1 Treasure or Level 1 Boss
Level 2 Daily Quests
Level 2 World Quests
Level 3 Covenant Enhancements (if open) or whichever Level 1 you didn't reinforce first
Whichever you did not Reinforce in Step 4
Level 3 Powerful Foe

Excellent guide, thank you. Do we know how long a non-reinforced stream lasts?

is there supposed to be a portal or something to go to opened area?

Does anyone recommend an order to which these should be unlocked?

From my experience on the live version:
As best I can tell
, the daily reset has no bearing on the duration or termination of the anima conduit. As noted by others, the anima conduits now
appear
to last 18 hours regardless of time started, although I have yet to see the effect of a weekly reset on anima conduit behavior. This change by Blizzard makes certain things a bit unpredictable. For instance, the Dreadhallow conduit (Venthyr) spanning two game days makes downing
恐怖的哈利卡
on two consecutive days difficult to time or maybe even impossible to do in some circumstances.

I came here to see how to unlock the upgrades, although I am a member of the covenant and have the covenant abilities, the upgrade NPC has nothing to say to me atm...
Would be helpful if the guide pointed out what you need to do to 'open' him up.

I was looking for the location of the special treasures. Alas, the guide has nothing to say about this.

I think I am missing something. I directed the beam to Purity's Pinnacle. I didn't see anything change on the conductor map, so then I flew out to the pinnacle to see if a quest would trigger nothing happened. I see no new quests or events or treasures, yet I got the cutscene where the conductor started streaming anima to that area. Is there something else I need to do?

Either I don't understand something, or the game has a HUGE design defect for the described feature of the Covenant. Let's give a practical example: here the new player opened this feature for the first time, he activated Anima Conductor, and, on the Anima Conductor's map, he opened his first stream. Okay, BUT WHAT'S NEXT? What
exactly
should the player do next? Open a map(a regular map of the world)? Find a new quest in the journal? Do a search on wowhead? OR WHAT?

If you have the Handynotes Shadowlands addon, when you open the map it will show you the champion you must kill and give you a small description when you hover over it. Bad design to have an addon do this over it being more obvious within the game itself.

So...what is the point of this Anima Conductor mission to Purity Pinnacle gated behind a whole bunch of elites? Is this supposed to be group content?

Is there any way (addon, weakaura) to tell me when I last charged a stream so I can plan when to recharge it? I have been trying to do it early in the AM but I did it last night and cannot remember exactly when.

I just channeled to the Court of the Harvesters (Venthyr), which is meant to open a world quest, but there is none there. I travelled there, none there. Relogging and reloading did not help. There might be a bug with that location.

Once we've reinforced an anima stream, I get that that means we can just work on gaining more pips by daily activating other ones, but that still costs 25 anima per pip daily. My question is, when one is reinforced, such that we're "Channeling anima each day," as the tooltip says, will the reinforced channel *also* give credit towards those pips, thus making it faster to reinforce the next streams, and so on?

I have reinforced 20 anima streams, but am looking to switch covenants. Do the reinforced anima streams transfer over to the new covenant? or do you start at 0 again?

What to do with anima objects you collect on character/alts BEFORE they reach Level 60
Note that you can store Anima you happen to gain (from quest rewards, etc.) in the Anima Reservoir in your Covenant Sanctum even before you reach level 60. Right-click on the NPC at the Anima Reservoir and then click on the "Deposit" button and the anima will be stored in the reservoir. I am looking forward to spending some of the anima without having to go out questing in order to do my first upgrade to the transport system.
OFC, the alt I did this on was using the Threads of Fate alternate levelling method where you choose your covenant in Oribos during the early stages of the process.

For the people who will ever look at this now-very-dated guide ever again - and then sort by date - I just tested and confirmed something :
You can, in fact, do the anima conductor quests from multiple covenants in a single day.
If you want to build that special currency as fast as possible, develop the anima conductor of every covenant and do rotations each day. Be sure to set your hearth to the covenant hall, as it will now update to match any faction to switch to.

At this point, the guide is missing one very critical piece of info: the unique rewards for each covenant. With Shadowlands winding down, the quests/bosses are trivial. But some offer mounts, etc. and having a consolidated list would be nice.
