anybody knows how it works exactly? sometimes it looks likes it depends on the level of the character, it goes up when you level up,then down when you level up again, depending on i don't know what.
is there a rule to it?
example with imaginary figures:
gathering ore x, you get 100xp at level 10, then 250 at level 15, then again 200 at level 16.

that makes sense, both the rest bonus and the skill level. but i had the distinct impression that the toon level also played a role.

here is a concrete example. the figures are with rest bonus
stormwine, orange, lvl 80, slvl 451. xp 4850 +1
stormvine, yellow, lvl 80, slvl 467, xp 5940 +1
cinderbloom, grey, lvl 80, slvl 469, xp 5940 no skill gain
cinderbloom, grey, lvl 80, slvl 470, xp 5940 +1
cinderbloom, yellow, lvl 81, slvl 452, xp 6050 +1
stormwine, orange, lvl 81, slvl 453. xp 6050 +1
cinderbloom, green, lvl 81, slvl 460, xp 6050 no skill gain
stormvine, yellow, lvl 81, slvl 471 xp 7424 +1
you see what i mean that it goes up and down and up...?

well, i have started a new toon with herbalism and mining and the conclusion so far is that only the level has an influence on the amount of xp obtained. orange, yellow, green or grey does not make a difference. the skill level does not play a role either.
i have still to find out, but i suppose that after a certain level the xp obtained from a specific tier gets lower and lower. so it goes first up and then after a few levels down again.
i suppose it is to compensate for the ease with which high-levels can farm. they hardly get aggro and can farm unhindered, but they get much less xp than low-levels.
