How about not being able to use a regular attack against 50% of the field(Dks, ret pallies, Warriors, rogues, feral druids) due to the fact that they can maintain melee range with hunters indefinitely in our current state.
This part is the biggest problem there is.Your post implies that Hunters are the only one suffering from this issue. Just saying.
Well I meant to imply that that's our LARGEST problem. We have quite a few more, but they're not AS big as this.

Uh, priest/rogue is only topping right now because penance being castable on self is now OP. Warrior/pally, Warrior/resto (fill in class) will be able to handle priest/rogue. Hell, feral/holy pally can handle priest/rogue if played right.
Priest/rogue has it's counters. The reason they are top right now is because all the rogues jump on the new ladder so they stand a ghost of a chance to get into the top rankings.

Did you notice all the pretty horrible battle groups all those priest rogues are on? Check out Bloodlust. There are very few priest rogues that are really high in the standings. Doing a general 2v2 search gets you a lot of random battlegroups. The ungodly high rated priest/rogue teams are not on majorly competitive battlegroups(or at least that's my impression from looking at the list).
As for-
Well Lightrain, you also forgot one small detail regarding the success of Priest/Rogue. Viper Sting received the nerfbat.
It used to drain 16% mana over 8 seconds. Now it's like 4. (it should be 8-10). Naturally, Priests and Rogues are doing better because their counters got nerfed (DK/Paladin/SVHunter)
Well, I guess I mentioned that a skilled surv hunter can kill a rogue. Something to do with a healing debuff, infinite kiting, a nifty flare that, when used right, is the only way to pop a rogue out of stealth when he has a priest for a healer(if you aren't a warrior or druid standing on top of said rogue).
You can't, in any shape or form, honestly think for one moment that hunter>/>rogue. You negate the one survival cooldown that he can actually use twice in a row. Survive the initial burst, keep him from restealthing and sapping either of you, and GG, you win.
Oh, did you hear about chain CCing the healer and killing the rogue? It's a new idea that's all the rage.
