There aren't many.
At launch during vanilla, there were many "outdoor dungeons" which were non-instanced places crawling with elite enemies. They usually had a rather complex lore and story behind them too. Among them there was Pyrewood village, Dun Garok, Purgation Island, Seradane, Alcaz Island, Isle of Dread, and many others. But path 2.3 did away with 99.99% of all of the non-instanced dungeons in the game, making the enemies in them non-elite, and cataclysm removed pretty much all quest content related to them in most cases.
That said, if you're interested in cool places to visit that are not related to an instance, here are my suggestions of places to see in the wide world of azeroth.
Temple of the Jade Serpent. Location: The Jade Forest in the continent of Pandaria.
Temple of the White Tiger. Location: Kun-lai Summit in the continent of Pandaria.
If you're horde, visit Bilgewater Harbor, the only unofficial Racial Capital (In that it doesn't have all the trappings of a capital city, no auction house, no bank, no profession trainers, no trainers for classes that goblins can't use such as paladins or druids, no elite guards, no racial leader, etc) Location: Azshara in the continent of Kalimdor.
The World Engine. Location: Storm Peaks on Northrend.
Ymirheim, home of the ascended Vry'kul. Location: Icecrown on Northrend.
Jotunheim, Home of the regular Vry'kul and where their tournaments are held to decide who ascends. Location: Icecrown, on northrend.
Grizzlemaw, capital city of the Furbolgs. Location: Grizzly Hills, on northrend.
The Underwater Ruins of Vashj'ir. Location: Vashj'ir on the eastern kingdoms.
City of Gilneas. Location: Gilneas, on the eastern kingdoms.
Jintha'alor, capital city of the jungle trolls. Location: The Hinterlands, on the Eastern Kingdoms.
If you're alliance, visit the Aerie Peak, home of the wildhammer. Location: The Hinterlands on the eastern kingdoms.
Gurubashi Arena. Location: Stranglethorn Vale in the eastern kingdoms.
Dire Maul. Location: Feralas on Kalimdor.
Darkcloud Pinnacle. Location: Thousand Needles on Kalimdor.
Valley of Kings. Location: Loch Modan on the eastern kingdoms.

Hmm not many I'm afraid. Zul'farrak, Zul'gurub, Shadowfang Keep, Temple of the Jade Serpent, Drak'tharon Keep, An'quiraj (both of them), Lost City of the Tol'vir, technically speaking Hour of Twilight too, since it takes place on Dragonblight with some slight modifications, Hellfire Ramparts, Trial of the Champion/Crusader, The Oculus, Utgarde Keep (But not the pinnacle), Gate of the Setting Sun, Shado-pan Monastery, about half of Siege of Niuzao Temple, Half of Siege of Orgrimmar, Half of Stormstout Brewery, Highmaul, Iron Dock, and Skyreach.
One of the main problems is that a lot of outdoor dungeons are not really represented in the world map. When you go into Ulduar, you see a massive outdoor base that you need to siege on vehicles. But if you fly above ulduar on a flying mount, you'll find nothing of the sort in the mountain. Same thing for example in Terrace of the Endless Springs. 100% outdoor area. Can't be found anywhere in pandaria. This applies to most dungeons unfortunately.
