I'm leveling my first druid (as resto through RDF) and have run with some really prepared tanks, and some really bad tanks.
However, I just ran Blackrock Depths with this druid tank with heirloom shoulders and chest... and I have to say: this was by far the quickest run I've ever been on. My mp5 is great thanks to heirlooms, and this guy kept me on my toes (in a good way).
Does it seem like Feral tanks are quicker paced to anyone else? (this isn't the first time I've encountered this, just the most dramatic). Am I imagining things?

I could challenge your mp5 with all the tanks i have leveled so far. Except for the Death Knight maybe, i used to wait for rune cooldowns before pulls sometimes.
edit: but oh well, rage tanks (yes this applies to warriors too, not just druids) can be naturally faster, since they do not have to "wait" for their resource. A pally can run out of mana when he fights too much. A DK has to wait for his runes to regenerate sometimes. Druids and Warriors run out of rage when they DO NOT fight -> thats the catch.

Not to mention the nature of
D&D
and
Consecration
, as opposed to
Swipe
, which can be spammed constantly while moving around.

The fact that you have to press a key on the keyboard constantly aside, feral tanks basically have an always-up, massive-damage and massive-threat aura that follows them, 8 yards out, wherever they go. They have talents that directly buff their dodge by large amounts (which is significant while leveling) and a talent that gives them free rage every time they dodge. Swipe is infinite and every target that you crit on also grants you free rage. With a big enough group, a single swipe will fill your rage bar.
They're fun. Er, we're fun. It's fun.

That all does make sense.
He held aggro better than any of the other's I've run with (thanks to Swipe I guess), and we did have some pretty good AoE DPS. So they were simply wrecking mobs, pulling 3 and sometimes 4 groups at a time, and these groups wouldn't live for very long at all.
I like... It's making me reconsider learning to tank, instead of my secondary spec being boomkin.

2 talents:
Blessing of Sanctuary
(level 30)
Spiritual Attunement
(level 42)
Meh, pull as much as you want, if you overdo it with Consecration you can run OOM easilly. Avoidance is not great at low levels, and prot paladins main mana source is Divine Plea, which is gotten rather late in the "game".
