Again, this seems like one of those builds for "I want everything", but doesn't have enough points invested in any particular tree to make it worthwhile.
Most DK builds require you to go at
least as far as the 41-point talent in a particular tree. You build all your abilities around that tree, and then the remaining points go into the other two for support talents.
As an introductory tank, I would highly recommend running as frost. It's got wonderful snap AoE aggro, very good single target aggro, and good overall avoidance/survivability. Here's the link to the frost spec I use on my DK.
Death Knight Frost Tank - 13/51/7For AoE trash, I do the following: HB->DnD->BB->Rune tap->BB. If DPS are able to pull things off of you at this point, they're either horribly overgeared compared to you, or the game broke. I honestly wouldn't bother with blood plague for AoE, since most things die too soon anyways.
For single target "rotations", I do the following (in order of priority):
- Make sure both diseases are up.
- Obliterate if you have FU runes or Death Runes
- Blood Strike if you have blood runes
- Frost Strike if you have more than 60RP.
- If Killing Machine has procced - use it on a Frost Strike
- If Rime has procced - use it in between other steps
Make sure that you macro Rune Strike onto every one of your abilities that are on your action bars. This will likely make the introduction to DK tanking as easy as possible. There are several threads on how to do this already - search for them.
