So, you can't relate someone thinking 2 + 2 = 4 to someone believing that the christian god is the only true god.
Actually, I can and did. If you are willfully ignorant to say that God is not real then I can say that 2 + 2 doesn't equal 4. It's about the same thing.
Note, I believe that 2+2 does equal 4, I'm just using this as an analogy.

No Queggy.
I'm not being willfully ignorant
, quite the opposite.
I'm also not saying that God isn't real. I'm just saying the a mathematical principle that is by definition true is not on the same comparative plane as the statement that the God mentioned in the Christian Bible is the only true god
.
You proved my point right there. I'm not theologian, so I don't really know how to put it into words, but I wish you could see it from my point of view.
how can you tell?
I have faith and i have experienced God first hand.

It, like all mathematical principles are the only things that can be known for sure in the universe. KNOWN. Not because they can be seen in the world, but because they are by definition true.
Descartes would
disagree
.
As for experiencing God, there is no way to prove or disprove he exists. That's the
good
thing about science: It can be proven wrong.
Edit: I didn't want this to happen, the thread started out alright... but I'm going to have to say: IBTL.
I'm watching the thread. When people start bashing each other is when the lock comes.

As I just said, we have no way to prove or disprove that you've experienced God. The people who don't believe he exists will never think he doesn't, unless something God-less happens to them that causes them to doubt he exists. Likewise, it is a rare occurrence when an atheist or a non-believer will convert.
Both happen, of course.

Aren't we all born as such?

So, going from that point, he goes forward using only thought (nothing physical) to establish what else he knows.
But in doing so, he must prove that God exists, and that he is all-good. So yes, either mathematics is based in God's existence, or we cannot know that mathematics can be known. :)
Oh the irony.
