Wrong. ilvl 226 gears are equal to Heroic malygos and KT gears. Normal Ulduar gear ilvl varies from 219 - 226. This achivement encourages ppl to use Ulduar 10 gear, NOT just naxx 25 gear :)
10-man Ulduar: 219 (Few weapons are 226)
10-man Ulduar (Hard): 226
25-man Ulduar: 226 (Weapons 232)
25-man Ulduar (Hard): 239
Basically its all loot from 10-man (Excluding possible Algalon higher item level ones) and non-weapon loot from 25-man normal modes (Again, no Algalon) that you can use for this one.
Edit: I wonder why am I getting downrated for posting correct information...durr.
Editv2: Seems like Yogg drops 226 iLevel stuff on normal mode...
If you primarily run 25 player instances and want to get this achievement/title, just hang on to your Kel'thuzad weapons and regular Ulduar 25 boss kills and you should be good to go.
MMO-Champion 25 man Gear
MMO-Champion 10 man Gear
If you go to the links below the Source and look at the Armor/Trinkets from 25 man, a good majority are ilvl 226. Most of the 10 man loot is ilvl 219 with an exception of the Hard Mode stuff which is 226. So if you want this achievement, either get 25 man loot from regular boss kills or your 10 man loot from hardmodes and regular.
For clarification, does this mean lvl 226 items CAN be used? So will a fury warrior be able to use betrayers, or will he be forced to downgrade into 10 man weapons?
This looks like a hard achievement. Considering that you are only allowed a one hour wipefest on Algalon, and even the best guilds will want the best gear to just learn something about this guy, only the MOST experienced guilds will ever try this.
Congratulations to "Gentlemens Club" of Korgath-US for getting this achievement.
June 6 2009
This achievement states you cannot have gear which is
than 226. That means you can use full tier 8.5 etc. apart from weapons which would be mostly 232. It has now been reworded so people may understand it easier.
This achievement is very poorly worded. I got this achievement tonight, using an ilvl 232 weapon and wand. Due to the way 10man hardmode loot works, you can still get this achievement using ilvl 232 weapons, offhands, wands, ranged weapons, sigils, idols, etc etc. You cannot be wearing any armor, or using any trinkets higher than 226.
This should be a "Feat of Strength" Achievement imo..
Killing a boss with appropriate gear instead of going back with 25 man or Trial of the Crusader gear? That's not a feat of strength, it's killing the boss how you should be.
Just a warning to anyone attempting this achievement.
Any loot from Trial of the Crusader 10 Man will automatically disqualify you from getting this achievement, even though the items are iLevel 232.
Does anyone know if the 10man loot from Onyxia counts against this achievement? I got
last night and wasn't sure if I could use it due to ToC gear not being allowed.
Edit: Our 10man group just did this and I did end up using this sword. I can confirm that it doesn't matter where the gear comes from as long as it meets the ilvl requirements. The weapon/offhand/ranged slots can be 232 or lower. The rest of your gear must be 226 or lower.
Just did this. I can confirm that you are allowed:
1) Item Level 232
from ToC 10
2) Item Level 226 items from Ulduar 25 and Naxx
3) Tanked with Item Level 232 Weapon, Shield, and Gun
Of note: if you ask a GM, they might tell me otherwise. The GM I spoke to told me that 232 weapons from ToC 10 and Onyxia 10 were not allowed, which is WRONG. Don't trust the GMs on this one, just follow the basic rule of 226 on every slot with 232 allowed on weapon and ranged slots.
Possibly not the smartest thing to remark that people who did this achievement "outgeared" it:
What Mniangel said was ''lol, noob?. Flexing a title that you have clearly outgeared, haha''.
Followed with a ''You are not very bright are you?''. And multiple whispers from Fallen Legion members stating the fact that Mniangel, was a pure failure in both reading and thinking.
This should be a feat by now. I am not saying remove this achievement, but I am saying trying to complete all of the achievements makes this one really hard compared to others because of the downgrade of gear. If this achievement is left as it is; come Cataclsym this would be something you would not find a group for. Letting it be a feat of strength would be much more fitting.
2 or 3 heals need?
Are epic gems okay?
Tanking is balanced in favor of prot paladins, followed by warriors, because of their many cooldowns and ability to block (Algalon has a very fast attack speed and dual-wields).
DPS is balanced in favor of ranged. You will need at least two ranged to kill the Collapsing Stars; stacking melee will cause problems as Cosmic Smash will force them to move continuously, as it targets individual players. At the gear level required by this achievement, the enrage timer is a serious consideration. While any composition is viable, you will want to choose a setup in which you have mutually synergized DPS.
I recommend a diverse healer comp. A holy paladin is particularly strong on this encounter.
Helm: T8.5 (purchasable with badges)
Neck: Conquest Neck, or Malygos-25 quest reward (quest starter drops off Sapphiron-25)
Shoulders: T8.5 (recommended for offpieces if you can't get them from Yogg-25 - the only source for T8.5 shoulders)
Cloak: Valor cloak
Chest: T8.5 (purchasable with badges)
Wrist: 213 Valor bracers, or bracers from H ToC-5 / Regular ICC-5
Waist: Ulduar crafted belts
Legs: Usually the best offpiece for most classes. Saronite Plated Legguards are most strong for tanks. KT-25 and Malygos-25 drop excellent pants for many classes. Other classes can find options off OS10/25+3, and from normal Ulduar.
Hooves: Ulduar crafted hoof guards
Rings: Valor badge rings for all classes. H ToC-5 and ICC-5 provide options for other classes.
All tanks should use Black Heart and either Heart of Iron, Royal Seal of King Llane, the Monarch Crab, or Essence of Gossamer. Defender's Code is also quite good.
All melee should use Greatness card. Fury of the Five Flights and Dark Matter are good options for the other slot.
All casters should use Illustration of the Dragon Soul and Eye of the Broodmother. Scale of Fates is also quite good.
Pandora's Plea and Darkmoon Card: Greatness are good healer trinkets.
Just did the achievement 2night.
I would call this achievement really hard for a few main reasons
)Its hard to find 10 people with the correct gear/ 10 people who want to collect some gear
The tight enrage timer (got 2 secs left on enrage)
Need to have a really good raid composition
People getting online to actually kill him (was the hardest part for us)
The raid composition was:
: 2x warriors. While fully buffed they had 42-46k hp each
: shadow priest (guy who got the big bangs)
Hunter (he soloed the stars. Had huge experience of doing it so he could solo them)
mage (frostfire spec given that ulduar gear isnt that good for any other specs,= useless spirit)
Warlock (affliction spec. Was the guy who did the most dps)
: Paladin (cant be done without one. was the main tank healer)
Shaman (Only healing the tanks using healing waves/earth shields)
Resto druid (this was me. I solo healed the raid during the whole fight and assisted on the tanks with hots+swiftmends)
During the fight the tanks will get HUGE amounts of dmg. That was one of the main reasons that would wipe us. Apart from that, You could wipe to small players mistakes, like not moving during cosmic smash etc.
The only usefull thing i could say about the fight is the
1)Warlock 5400 dps
2)shadow priest 5100
We had 2 seconds left on enrage. So aproximatelly this should be your average dps when you try to kill it.
Hope you good luck with it:) Really a fun fight to do+ a real challenge compared to what wotlk gives to you
Time: 360 seconds
Total raid DPS Req: 22564.72
Individual dps: 4512.94
quick calc for those who cba to do it theirselves :)
I got it last night, and I may add that the heirloom weapons are allowed. Great fight by the way!
I know it has been said time and time again, 226 except weapons 323 but I still would like confirmation if possible for the following :
(the 226 version)
and what is the deal for ammo ?
Here's something I got from a guildie, who got it somewhere from the forums. Quick list of where to go farm, and where not to.
OK to Use:
- All Ulduar 10 normal loot and below (219)
- All Ulduar 10 hard mode loot (226 armor, 232 weapons/ranged)
- All Ulduar 25 normal loot (226 armor, 232 weapons/ranged)
- All weapons/ranged from ToC10 normal (232) <--- This has been confirmed by people who have gotten it with these items
- All Ulduar craftable gear (226)
- All emblem of conquest gear (226)
- Anything from ToC 5 man heroic (219)
- Weapons from ICC 5 mans heroic (232)
- Items from ICC 5 man regular (219)
Not OK to Use
- Any armor from ToC10 normal (232)
- Any Ulduar 25 hard mode loot (239)
- Anything from ToC10 hard (245/258)
- Anything from either version of ToC25 (245/258/272)
- ToC craftables (245)
- Emblem of Triumph gear (245)
- Regular armor from ICC 5 man heroic (232)
The text in the achievement box have been changed. It now clearly says that "Defeat Algalon the Observer in 10-player mode
without anyone in the raid wearing any equipment with an item level higher than is available in 10-player Ulduar.
Which means that you can use items from Ulduar 10 man hard modes. As long as the items don't have higher level than the ones that drop in Ulduar ,you can use it. so the highest item level in Ulduar is XXX, that means you can't use items higher than level XXX.
To find XXX you need to find the highest item level drop in Ulduar 10 man.
Since they changed the text you can probably no longer use weapons that are higher level than the ones that drop in Ulduar 10 man.
To see an item level in-game you need to do this: Click ESC go to INTERFACE, choose DISPLAY, mark "SHOW ITEM LEVEL" in the lower right corner.
boredom struck, so i figured i would make a idle set for a
on this achievement. Of course some of the items are very close in stats value as some others in game, but this would be a goal im going to work towards with my own paladin.

Did this achievement last night on our third set of serious attempts. Took 6-8 weeks of farming U10 one night a week to collect our gear (3-4 weeks before attempting it). Would have got this probably 2-3 weeks sooner but we had a lineup change and 2 weeks when people couldn't make it.
: DPS given in parenthesis, probably 4-5% low because combat ends 20-30 sec after fight stops.
Tanks: Prot Warrior (2255), Feral Druid (1472)
DPS: Unholy DK (5819), Enh Shaman (me, 4980), Surv Hunter (4857), Shadow Priest (3899), Destro Lock (2688*)
Heals: Resto Shaman (21), Resto Druid (0), Holy Paladin (69)
* Was on star duty for all of p1
The claim that you need a Hunter on Collapsing Stars is rubbish. You need one ranged dps with controlled burst and good movement -- ours was a Destro Lock. We actually had to slow DPS to avoid hitting p2 before third Big Bang. Made Enrage with 25 sec remaining and everyone up.
The best tactic nowadays is to bring a Shadow Priest who's glyphed Dispersion, and have him soak each Big Bang. It makes the fight
easier when tanks can cooldown as necessary.
My group has been getting gear for the last six weeks, along with doing fun random achievements in Ulduar.
This is our group makeup -
We are starting attempts on Herald tomorrow night, allowing the Prot Warrior to finish up his gearset.
I will let you know how this pans out after we're done for the night.
what about PVP gear?
Seriously, they couldn't make this achievement anymore clear. No higher item level than drops in ulduar. And btw we did it today, you only need a group of people who know what they are doing, epic gems made it a little easier than it was back then i suppose
It should be pointed out with clarity that for any casters in the raid, be aware that
your off-hand frills must be ilvl 226 or below.
will not work for this achievement. All weapons can be up to 232 though, including staves.
Also, this achievement will become a Feat of Strength in Cataclysm. (
those achievements goes FoS because the requirement is
, easy in lvl 85, but, Herald of the titans u need ilvl 226-232 gear to complete it, imagine a lvl 85 with lvl 80 gear.
Only time will tell
Completed this achievement last week and here are some comments for those planning this (as this week might be the last before the patch):
- Holy paladins are not mandatory; we managed to do this without one. Instead our healing setup was a resto druid (that did the raid healing) and a disc priest and resto shaman who were dedicated solely to tank healing. The shamans gear was purely crit/mp5 which basically lets him spam LHW all through the fight.
- Tanks were warrior and paladin. The paladin helps massively because of the amount they can block. I would
recommended you do this with a DK/druid combo as they can't block, but any other combo should be fine, but might require a holy paladin for healer.
- Shadow priest for soaking BB's is very advantageous but anything else can work if you feel comfortable enough with it. Note that Dispersion is the only skill/talent AFAIK that can soak BB without anything else. Shield wall for a warrior un-glyphed for example isn't enough which will require another cooldown, and you'd rather want to spend those for Algalon himself.
- None of our casters had 232 offhands. We read contradictory statements all over the web and didn't want to risk it.
- Some of us had some 226 PvP-gear so that works perfectly.
- Our 5 dps did on average 5k DPS which got him killed at around 30 sec before the enrage so that's a good benchmark. Note however that I died just before the 3rd BB (got ressed after) and was handling stars at the same time with about a 5.5k dps.
- Affliction warlocks are great for stars because they can dps those AND Algalon at the same time with little to no loss.
In short: If you got great players then this isn't hard. We had 3 or so people who had done this like 1 time (or never) and we got this after 40 minutes of tries. The try when we got to phase 2 with 9 people alive (which was the first) ended up in a kill. If you can make it to p2 slighty after the 3rd BB with the whole raid alive, you're done.
Got it today without best in slot gear(loads of 200s and our warlock even used level 60 items to fill missing pieces)
Got it on 4th try, first 2 were simple mistakes 3rd was a big miscommunication problem. I can tell you one thing don't over think about this have some basic communication skills and you should be fine.
Also as you can see no shaman aka NO BLOODLUST we had like 22 secs left on enrage.
Edit: This was on EU realms and although Wowhead says it was 4.0.1 when I posted this, it was still 3.3.5 on EU
Can i reforge my gear and still be able to get this achievement? It would be a lot easier to set up my tanking gear, as i need a lot of expertise.
We went for this achievement for the first time. And it was already during 4.0.1. I thought it would be a lot harder in the new patch, but in fact it was a lot easier than I expected. I was the holy paladin myself, so the tankhealing I was able to do was a bit lower than it would have been in 3.3.5, however tankhealing was doable and we managed to basicly oneshot it. We wiped once because the tank instantly died in 2 seconds after the pull.
Frost Death Knight
We had the restoration druid on the raid, me on the tanks and the restoration shaman helping out alot on the tanks and the raid. Most of us had close to full i226 gear, and we have only had 2 Big Bangs. All the DPS were able to do 6k at least. And to answer a 4.0.1 related question: Yes; you can reforge your gear.
I can't imagine the
physical damage mitigation change
has helped the difficulty of this achievement.
Can you still get the title if it is converted to a Feat of Strenght and worth 0 Points with the next patch?
Yes, it is obtainable when it becomes a Feat of Strength.
Read the achievement- It says "Defeat Algalon at level 80" So the second you level you won't be able to get it, but if you level to 80 (NO higher), get the gearset (and a group) and do him, you'll get it.
But I highly doubt 10 people will bother to do that, so meh.
This achievement became a big friggin pain in the ass in 4.0.1.
For some reason, probably has something to do with projected texture, but there's this really bright glow on the platform which makes it extremely hard to see anything. Especially when you go in the black hole, it's so bright D:
Macro to test your gear's item level:
/run for i=1,19 do id=GetInventoryItemID('player',i); if id then _,n,_,l = GetItemInfo(id);if l>226 then if i<16 or i==19 or l>232 then print(n) end end end end
No warranty or implied warranty including that of fitness for purpose or merchantability etc etc... It should however print out any items you're wearing that do not fit for the achievement assuming that any item greater than 226 in any slot is invalid excluding your main-hand, off-hand or ranged slots which are invalidated by an item level greater than 232.
There is a lot of controversy over whether 232 offhands are usabled for this achievement. I can confirm that 232 caster offhands are acceptable for this achievement. My guild just completed this moments ago and I used the Chalice of Benedictus from ToC (
The guidelines we used were as follows:
226 or less in every armor slot
232 or less in weapon slot
232 or less in offhand slot
232 or less in the ranged slot, with the exception of totems, librams, sigils & idols. These 4 we stayed under 226.
Can someone confirm if you can or cannot do this achievement, with reforged gear, please?
For some reason, the Dying Stars seem to gravitate towards the middle of the room now, instead of just staying around their four-corner square position like they used to. Bug or not? Has anyone else noticed this? My group had to pull Algalon to the side of the room so that melee DPS stopped getting sucked into the black holes at the wrong time.
We did this the other night. 2 heals, 2 tanks, 4 ranged, 2 melee.
Tanks was prot war and dk
heals was holy priest and druid
ranged was warlock, ele shaman, hunter, boomkin
melee was rogue and war
moment tanks had sufficient agro, we popped hero and went to town. Overall we had 42 seconds left before the enrage.
You don't need specific classes to do this, you just need people who know how to play their class well.
Confirmed still attainable After the Shattering at level 80. Just got it :)
Still obtainable after patch 4.0.3a. The one hour limit is even gone now and you can indeed still get the achievement after fighting him for one hour.
As stated before, this achievement
still be done, even though it's a Feat of Strength. For proof, check my Armory profile:
The timer is also removed from the encounter, and my guess is that this is because of the new Flexible Raid Lock system that applied to Ulduar after 4.0.3a. If there were a timer, this could have been reseted since you are never locked to an ID, but rather to specific bosses (which in Algalon's case is pointless since you haven't defeated him if the timer runs out).
i got this one day before the shattering. it took people from the three top raids of my server to get the 10 together. and because most of us did not see algalon für quite a long time we did not get it until the second ID.
good luck to all of you still trying this the probably final last ID! this very cool und quite unique title is worth the effort indeed.
Would this be obtainable, IF, you were level 80, with the other 9 people 80-85, but all wearing the right gear ilvl do you think? I know it's a long shot but just wondered.
Edit: Wondering since it doesn't state everybody has to be level 80, i'd be willing to leave myself at 80 for the first couple of weeks of Cata and get some help from guildies if it was possible, might try it out anyway since i'm going to miss the release anyway.
Doing this now with cataclysm flasks and potions should be a cakewalk once gear is acquired. 300 Intellect or Spirit and 1200 SP potions are HUGE at 80.
is it still possible to get this title if you are 85?
This achievement is next to impossible to get now.. I tried on my realm and I couldn't find a single person who wants to do it, could probably make a group if people were willing to transfer but not going to bother for an achievement like this.
Good Luck to anyone out there still trying to get this!
Defeat Algalon the Observer in 10-player mode at level 80 without anyone in the raid wearing any equipment with an item level higher than is available in 10-player Ulduar.
So this means you can still get the Herald of the Titans title, right? Could be nice if anyone could confirm my thought
I'm wondering if you can use the Heirloom rewards from the guild system to do this now on Cata...
It'd be nice to use the helm and cape for this :P
No...There is no chance at all to get it at 85 considering that the achievement requires you to be an 80!
Now im am wondering. becasue of the fact says "you" must be lvl 80 to earn this. and it does not say your group has to be lvl 80. Could u still be lvl 80 with ilvl 226 get the acheive if you are carried by lvl 85s who wont get the acheivement?
For level 80s in WotLK instances, every 1 average item level above 200 gives you 1.67% increased damage/healing and 1% damage mitigation (unless a spell hasn't been squished properly).
Even though this became a Feat of Strength in Cataclysm, it is still obtainable so long as all raid members are level 80 (proof:
Aelobin - The Maelstrom (EU)
Both the achievement and title are account wide since patch 5.0.4
Here's some useful information for those who are attempting this in Cataclysm:
The key is no longer required to open the door to his room
The 1 hour time limit has been removed, so you can fight him for as long as you like
Armour items must be ilvl 226 or less, and weapon items (mainhand/offhand/ranged) must be ilvl 232 or less
It doesn't matter where your gear is from, so long as it meets the above criteria
Epic gems are allowed
Reforging is allowed (this includes mastery!)
Heirlooms are allowed (although you shouldn't really be using them)
The Cata leg enchants, MoP profession enchants and
s are all allowed
You can use Cataclysm consumables (flasks/potions/food/
It doesn't matter what gear or character level is used to clear the trash and bosses before Algalon
The hardest part about getting this title is finding 10 level 80s with the correct level of gear (or time/motivation to farm the gear). It's a great advantage to have a shadow priest to soak all the Big Bangs with
, but a rogue (with
) works well too.
Healing isn't too hard with 2 tank healers (especially if one is a pally and/or disc priest) and if the collapsing stars are killed at safe times. Average DPS needs to be around 4k each, which is a very easy benchmark to reach with consumables/buffs/reforging.
If you're looking for gear, a good place to start is the JP vendors and craftable items. You can then pick up some easy 219s from the ICC 5mans and ToC5 heroic, along with some 232 weapons from ToC10, Ony10 and the ICC5 mans on heroic.
This has become considerably easier since MoP. Tanks have higher parry from strength and can deal very good damage thanks to the changes to vengeance, and some of the MoP profession bonuses are usable on Herald gear. We even managed to
it, which was soon trumped by
who completed it with just
Do you really shine like that Orc O_O?
Feral druid tank
I got the achievement after 4.0 dropped but before Cata hit. When we were all 80 but had the 85 talent trees.
My set was built based on what items were easiest to get at the time since there was a rush to get this done before Cata dropped.
Despite not being BiS, I got no complaints from the healers who said I was a lot easier to heal than the warrior.
wait so you have to be level 80 to get this achievement?
Is this still obtainable despite 4.3 dropping?
Can some 1 please tell me if there was a 25 man version of this before. I dont remember
This should be much more easier to do from 4.3.2 and on thanks to the RealID feature allowing us to invite people from different servers to do this.
With the "Battle.net-account-wide achievements" coming in MoP, does this mean all our toons will be granted this title (as long as 1 of them has the achievement) ?
My main is 85 so can no longer get this title. If my level 80 alt gets the achievement, will my main also have the title when MoP is released?
Currently, there are quite a few groups running this, both on EU and US. Check your D&R forums, or
As long as you are able to farm the gear and form a group, killing the boss is fairly straightforward.
For reaching 80, you can use the scroll of ressurection promotion, as long as you have an inactive account and are willing to pay for a month (in fact, it is possible to find someone willing to pay for you, because they get a mount for it). You get a free boost to 80, a full set of 232 greens, epic flying and other goodies.
Regarding class balance, arcane mages are a huge bonus due to their enormous damage and burst, but any group composition is fine, really. Any tank can survive big bang with cooldowns, you don't need a shadowpriest for that.
As for the fight, it has become pretty straightforward:
- Nuke the boss
- Run away from red void zones
- Tanks switch every 4 stacks
- Assign one dps to kill collapsing stars one by one, and warn healers as they die
- Ignore constellations
- Halfway through big bang cast, run into a black hole and move away from it so you don't fall into it again
With good dps he should be down before second big bang, which makes it fairly trivial.
Will still be attainable in Mists of Pandaria.
With the announcement of Account Wide Achievements, I decided to make an 80 and attempt this. If you are in the US Realms and Alliance, contact me so we may gather people. email@example.com
Here is a BIS setup for priest heal for this achievement, including gem, enchant and the reforge part.
Stats are chosen by aiming at most intellect available while keep the tier 8 heal 4pc bonus since disc will find it extremely powerful. Socket bonus is ignored in most cases because they are weak compare with extra attribute coming from epic int gems. Then followed up by stacking spirit. Notice that I picked up 2 items (off-hand and wand) that have hit, because extra socket which brings extra 20 int brings a huge benefit over any other spirit item that are available at this level.
Most of the off pieces are from ulduar 10 hardmodes, toc 10m normal 1-4, and the wrist is from os 25 2d.
So why isn't there a 25 man equivalent?
We have 7 ppl in my guild to do this achievment. Actually we are leveling new characters just to do it. We need ~3 more. Guild Sindarin on EU Burning Legion. If you want to join us whisper Hegan in game or PM me on wowhead.
If you're going to min/max (or just plan to use that char in next expansion etc.) and levelling your professions, you shall remember several facts:
only gives you hole in wrists/hands for gem. That means you'll get 40 bonus to primary stat.
gives you ~42 primary stat because
require ilvl 285 item (do not forget you'll also have to do dailies for
and to learn how to cut them)
gives you 80 primary stat on rings.
gives 80 primary stat on flask.
, around 80 primary stat average
at the cost of
, around 100 primary stat average
) being strongest for casters/healers. Huge buff, around 185 primary stat gain average for the price of 23 haste rating on cloak!
gives 130 primary stat on wrists and allows you to use epic patch on legs. 130 primary stat + 30 ap + 10 crit rating for agility class (assuming you would use 50 ap on wrists), 215 stamina gain for tank, or even if you do not benefit from leg enchant, it's still 130 primary stat gain on your wrist against 30 spellpower for casters. Still decent choice.
I composed this wall of text to help share to other friends of mine what CATA profession bonuses are out there. If I missed anything, please reply back and I'll try and keep this updated.
I just completed it last weekend with having the Tailoring bonuses on my Shaman(Lightweave Embroidery and Sanctified Spellthread), I think that and having a +300 Intellect Flask (
) were some addons that were necessary to help raid heal it.
Also used basic cata buff food for +60 Intellect / Stam, you could use Fortune Cookie's for +90 of each.
Overall Leatherworking and Tailoring are the most bang for your buck IMO (LW for melee/hunters/tanks Tailoring for casters) Due to the massive bonuses allowed with Bracer / Epic leg enchants for LW / and the Cloak enchants / Epic Leg enchants for Tailoring. I believe some of the Panda-Profession bonuses will be avail to LW/ Tailoring/ and Engineering too (not confirmed yet)
Engineering for the Synapse Springs and Inscription for the shoulder enchants I would put as a great 2nd Profession to go along with LW / Tailoring.
(These are not REQUIRED to complete this Achievement, but they do noticibly help, and if you're a BIS type of player who needs to maximize gear in any realm, this might be helpful to review as a composite list.
Cataclysm Profession Bonuses that work with Herald of the Titans:
(Rocket boots, Northrend Teleporter, Jeeves are added awesomeness things)
Dragon's Eyes offer a little boost, +14 higher than the epic cuts (unfortunately we can't use Cata gems )
(+34 intellect) (+42 intellect total bonus (can be str or agil or whatever)
Just for comparison to the WOTLK shoulder:
Greater Inscription of the Storm ~ 24 sp 15 crit vs 130 intellect 25 haste for Felfire (HUGE upgrade)
Probably see more of this now that come MoP achievement's and title's are BoA. So you can make an alt group of 80's kill it and all your 85+ now have it.
Day 1: W00t level 80. Hmm, maybe I should farm gear for Herald of the Titans...
Day 2: Going well, got some gear together. Hope RNG holds for 2moz. Damn that Halls of Reflection place...
Day 3: Why won't ToC or Halls of Reflection drop the off-hand! Getting a little frustrated...
Day 4: Ok srsly FU ToC and Halls of Reflection. Keep your stinking off-hand. I'll take Patchwerk's instead.
*heads to Ulduar*
Algalon, it is time! *many wipes later due to terrible, terrible 2nd tank* <earned achievement >! :)
Yep, from 80 to Herald in 4 days. And I was healing as Disc in Shadow gear (reforged for Disc of course) due to unexpected absence of second healer. On a plus note, totally creamed the healing (7.5k effective HPS). Disc is seriously OP in the right hands.
(lol just noticed we also got Supermassive achievement at the same time as I was checking my page - fun)
Hit me up on Ravencrest if interested in doing a Herald run before I decide to level the priest to 85. Main is Novaslice (ret pala) in case I'm on that toon. Guild is Group Therapy.
My preist is now level 80, gearing him up with 219/226 gear, If anyone is doing this shout me - Powerpriesty - arathor, Main is Rightouscow - arathor.
(atm im using higher ilvl gear on priest, but only to farm jp etc.
As of this tuesday (Patch 5.0.4) achievements become account wide and it will be very possible for anyone to get this title for their main character, even if the character is above the required level (80). Simply attain the achievement on a character who meets the criteria and the achievement will be granted to all characters on your account.
We've just done it :D
Can wait till 5.0.4 to use it on my main :)
Confirmed that, as for now 5.1.0, it is battle.net account-wide and still obtainable as long as your group meet the criteria. Require at least lv.80 to display on alt toons, as all raid titles require the character to reach the proper entrance level (e.g. wrath raid titles requires lv.80, cata raid titles requires lv.85, etc.).
For those who are wondering: It can still be obtained in 5.0.4, as can be seen here:
its pretty easy too, had a tank with only 7 items equipped or so and it worked :)
if you are willing to do this achivement, and you have the toon, please leave comment below and I'll get to you ASAP to see if you are avaible for this achivement
Got 80 rogue and looking forward to get this. Will start faming gear since now (Twink atm). Add realid firstname.lastname@example.org
BIS info (From Twink Info):
We did it again, with two 85 (with proper gear) and two folks without achievment on level 80. But they (lvl 80) didin't get title. Why? The have changed sth? Before patch 5.0.4 it was possible to do with 85 toons.
Will this be taken out of the game in Mists of Pandaria?
Doesn't make sense for them to make the Sinestra FoS unobtainable now but not with this one, I guess sinestra was more like the other Ulduar / Naxx raids.
horde, blood death knight, name - cylvia. server - Mal'ganis realID - Th3nameliss1@yahoo.com
Just wanted to confirm that this achievement and title IS still obtainable as of 5.0.4 (Nov 25, 2012). We just downed it with ease using all of the Cata Flask/Food/Pots and advice from this page.
Thanks and good luck!
Still obtainable as of 7.3
Edit: On 5.4 PTR, all professions are neutralized, and grant profession perks based on character level rather than profession skill point. If this change carries to live, then this thread will become obsolete.
Since the title is still available in Mop, it is worth to mention a few things about choosing profession if you really want to save time for grinding a BiS set for this. Notice that the minimum required level to train 600 profession is 80, and in future expansion the minimum level for new max (probably 675 at least) would likely be increased to 85 as well(always 2 expansions behind), so it may be a good idea to start building an 'ultimate herald toon'.
Lv.80 toons can use cata flask such as
, and cata food such as
. MoP food and flasks requires Lv.85-Lv.90 to use.
Alchemy: Gain from this profession would be limited to
16 prime stats
(24 if stamina, which has a 1.5 multiplier, same calculation below), no matter what level of flask you use. Also, it should be noted that
can be tricky. Although it states as a 320 prime stats boost on tooltip, when consumed by a Lv.80 toon, it only gives 16 stats boost (which is calculated based on WotLK flak stats).
Blacksmith: Even though wrist/glove socket does not have restriction on item level, the cata/mop gems do (285/417 respectively), thus the bonus would be
40 of any stats
using WotLK epic gems.
mop ring enchant
requires minimum ilvl of 372, thus we can only
cata ring enchant
, which is
80 prime stats
Engineering: engineers have access to their latest perks such as
, which is equivalent to
320 prime statsin average
(notice that on-use effect are usually better than flat value due to flexibility and CD by-passing). In addition, they also have quality of life bonuses such as
, making engineering one of the most useful profession for this fight (dps and tank wise).
Herbalism: these herb farmers have access to
, equivalent to
480 haste average
. Based on class and spec, this can be an insane burst. However, farm herbs on low level alt can be a painful process.
the mop bop shoulder enchant
requires lv.85 to use, thus they can only use
cata inscription-only shoulder enchant
. However, it should be noticed that
normal shoulder enchant from therazane
is not available to lv.80, which makes this profession slightly better than enchanting (
roughly 100 prime stats
Jewelcrafting: cata/mop gems has item level requirements (285/417 respectively), thus the bonus would be
40 of any stats
using WotLK epic gems.
Leatherworking: Not only they have access to the
latest wrist exclusive enchant
, but also they can use the
cheap leg enchant
. For agi/str users or tanks, the bonus can reach as high as
750 prime stats
from wrist compared with
from WLK normal wrist enchant, plus leg armor which comes in
compared with cata lesser leg armor which comes in
, even for casters the bonus would be near
500 prime stats
Mining: miners have access to
. Only useful to tank, and farm minerals on low level alt can be a painful process.
Skinning: skinners have access to
Though, farm skins on low level alt can be a painful process.
Tailoring: Not only they have access to the
latest triggerable back enchant
, but also they can use the
cheap leg enchant
. For casters or healers, the bonus can reach as high as
nearly 800 prime stats
, even for agi/str dps, the bonus can reach
about 400 prime stats
(converting timed proc into equivalent prime stat).
Leatherworking and Tailoring are easy winners for most dps/healer, while herbalism/engineering can be useful for certain dps classes and mining can be useful for tank.
we did this achievment in may 2012 and it was a joke, you can do this easily with 5 geared people or just scrub it with 10 ppl.
I can totally confirm that the achivement is still obtainable and account wise during
Cataclysm potions/flasks and Pandarian profession enchants can be used.
Here is the proof:
Can you use
, since it is 245? It's still an item "obtainable" in Ulduar.
Quick question here, can a level 90 enter and clear the first four bosses, then a group of lvl80's with the required gear kill Algalon and still get the title, or does it fail if a lvl90 enters the raid?
Just thought I'd share some information to anyone who would like to max out their herald character and do some carrying. :P
Herald of the Titans has become a bit of a hobby of mine; I currently have 7 Herald characters and most of them are either BiS or close to it. I run it at least 2-3 times every week, and here are some quick tips I've picked up on that I thought I'd share.
- Leatherworking and Tailoring are usually the most OP professions for a DPS or Healer. Leatherworking gives you an enchant for 500 Agility/Intellect/Strength and Tailoring gives you a proc of 2000 Intellect/4000 AP/3000 Spirit on your cloak, which is very nice when you have all your cooldowns popped at the start of a fight. If you're an Agi or Strength user, LW also gives you a leg enchant equivalent to the MoP one. Tailoring gives you the same if you're a caster/healer. Engineering is also very good - it gives you 1920 Agi/Str/Int on-use that lasts 10 seconds, which could be great if you want to line it up with some kind of proc.
- It's worth mentioning that Herbalism scales extremely well for some classes, most notably Fire Mage. It gives you a massive haste cooldown to pop (roughly 87% haste for 20 seconds) which causes certain abilities like Combustion to scale through the roof and gain a huge amount of ticks.
- Leatherworking and Mining are the most OP professions for a Tank. You can have a 750 stamina enchant on your bracers & 430 stam to your legs from Leatherworking, with an extra 480 stam from MoP mining.
- Skinning is also a reasonably good profession to have (will give you around 10% crit if you max it out, which isn't bad at all).
Maxing out your character with the right professions, it's possible these days for DPS classes to do upwards of 20k, or for a tank to have almost 70k hp unbuffed. My DK tank has 84.5k on the actual fight with all the buffs!
If anyone was wondering what the "ultimate herald DPS class" is, I do believe I've found it - it actually seems to be Moonkin. With every buff and Bloodlust, my Moonkin has pulled a staggering 40k DPS a few times, even pulling 51k once on an extremely fast kill! Fire Mages and Shadow Priests with Herbalism are other classes which are worthy of a mention and both are also capable of pulling DPS in this range, as long as you can get a good combustion and find some way to pre-stack shadow orbs before the fight. With a couple of good DPS carrying a run, it's easily possible to kill Algalon before the first Big Bang!
I realise this probably only appeals to a small portion of players - these days, most Herald runs are filled with people wearing Naxx gear and heirlooms who just want to get their title and get out of there. But for those who want to have a bit of fun and shine above others in the run, this is for you.
So I will assume (as a tank) you can have a 232 weapon and a 232 shield?
If you read the achivement it clearly states that you have to be level 80 to recieve the titel yourself. But what if someone in your group is level 90 but has the required items equipped etc? Can you still recieve that achievement even though everybody in your group isnt level 80?
Posting this info here in case anyone was in the same boat I was/am in.
So, another Altoholic here. I already had everything on my account at level 90. But, I also have a 2nd WoW account attached to my same Blizzard account. So I leveled up another 80 just to do this achievement with my guildmates. I was a little worried that the title from this achievement wouldn't be passed on to my Main's account, even if they were listed on the same Blizzard account. Even though it is listed as Account Wide, I was a little worried. So I asked a GM about it:
I have a question regarding a certain achievement. The Herald of the Titans achievement. Now, I have two WoW accounts both listed on the *same* Blizzard Account. So they both get the same mounts and pets and titles Ive collected. On my 1st account I already had everything leveled to 90, but am getting up to level 80 on my 2nd account. My question is, once I get this achievment, will the Title it gives also roll over onto my Main's account? Since *MOST* titles that I can see so far are rolling over to both of my accounts as far as I can tell. But yeah, again, both accounts are under the exact same Blizzard account. So their both getting all the mounts, (most) titles, and achievements that I can see so far. I just want to make absolutely sure that this title is going to roll over onto both accounts, since achievements are linked. Thank you for your time!
So this one took a bit of research, the answer would be yes, as it's a title earned through a non pvp achievement, it would be account wide, and confirmed in the comments of wowhead. Good luck, this is going to be a hard one two expansions on.
Is there anything else that has a similar character or item level restriction? I don't want to level all my toons past anything haha.
Could a player perhaps have a lvl 90 bring algalon really low, and then leave the group/port out of the instance for the achiev?
Are heirlooms (BoA level 1 armor/weapons/trinkets/etc) allowed for this?
While the title may be acount wide, the Feat of Strength is not. So whatever character you earned the FoS on, that will be the one with it. All characters do get the title though.
Ok so I know the equipped ilvl requirements for this. Easy enough. But what about higher ilvl sets in your bags? Like if I wanted to gear a Cata 5m set while I geared for this, would that screw up the achv because of that higher ilvl gear in my bags?
Did it today with group of nine players. Downed him before second bang with no wipes. Very easy with mop scaling to kill him.
Do characters under 80 get to use the title?
Still very doable 5.4.8 as of 9/12/2014,
got mine with 222 ilvl destro lock. we wiped quite a bit while tanks figured out how to handle big bang and some placement issues. I had run this on my 90 before trying to get an idea of the fight, but it feels much different when you're on level.
As the only ranged dps I handled the stars, basically they lose 1% hp/sec and when they die they do raid wide dmg, 4 spawn at a time and float around randomly, and if they all die at the same time, raid wipes, so a ranged dps needs to take them out at a time. tricky part is when they die, they leave a black hole. The black hole is used to escape from big bang. Basically, you need to make sure they die away from the raid so nobody is ported preemptively, and so they die when players aren't at low health, there is a LOT of raid damage and a TON of tank damage, so be watchful. shortly after I'd finish the first 4 stars another four would spawn so keep an eye out, they're difficult to see, just floating sparkly stuff.
Concerning tanks, likely the hardest part of the fight is the tanking, al hits like a truck, and his
stacks a debuff, which when it reaches 5 stacks you're phased out as if you'd stepped in a black hole from one of the stars. as tank you don't want this to happen lol, so switch tanks at 4 stacks. Also while tanking, keep an eye out for the stars, last thing you want is for you or part of the raid to step in a black hole too early. Have a plan before the fight of who is going to soak up the big bang, everyone else should jump in a black hole right before. we had the tank not currently tanking pop cds to survive it, there are other ways too.
last important mechanic for the group to know about: cosmic smash, he randomly selects a player and puts red glowing stuff beneath them, if they don't move, they die. keep an eye out for it, plenty of other ways to die ;)
When you do go in black hole to escape big bang, run like hell, then kill adds after BB, as a clothie this was a pain, seemed like I was always low health going in :P
pop blood lust at beginning of fight, highly rec a shaman, very OP in this fight, I brought drums just in case.
bring plenty of cata food, casters best food is
Severed Sagefish Head
had to do a few dailys in order to cook it but worth the time. gave 90 int/90 stam.
a few cata flasks, last an hour each, gave me 300 int :)
and lots of cata pots,
gives 1200 int for 25 sec!
I didn't bring enough and there were none on the ah when I ran out :(
prof bonuses were nerfed :( and will be gone in WoD =(
if you're thinking about doing this achv some classes are more OP than others, I've heard of shammys and arcane mages doing 15-20k sustained. try to have everyone at least over 210 ilvl, fully gemmed/enchanted/reforged, at hit/exp caps, for some classes reforging into mastery is awesome! check openraid if you have trouble finding groups. I can't say how the upcoming stat squish will effect this achv so get sooner rather than later ;)
Hey, I have a question since I don't want to risk it - are post wrath classes allowed (i.e monk)?
As of Patch 6.0, the level 90 glitch to kill has been patched. We killed him in 3 seconds and it didn't work.
So is this achievement doable in 6.0.2? I've got into a group to try it and it seems Algalon didn't get squished. Both tanks took 30k hits AFTER cooldowns, and as you may know Algalon hits pretty fast... We couldn't even 3-heal it.
As of 6.0.2 this is no longer a joke of an encounter, i got a handfull of tries on it back in Wotlk and it's harder now than it was then.
So i wrote a small "guide" that will help you understand what to do before attempting it and what i found most people had a hard time grasping.
Since this is an Achievement that requires specific gear being used and you have the benefit of obtaining a complete set of good items without much hassle this should be you first priority.
With the stat squish it's not just 226 Gear that are really good even naxx gear at this point is good, take a look at the setbonuses and the sockets. They help.
You need to socket ALL of your gear with wotlk/tbc epic gems.Tbc gems have the same ammount of stats
Brilliant Crimson Spinel
Brilliant Cardinal Ruby
as WoTLK gems and should be a lot easier to come by both the gem and a crafter. Farm BT/Sunwell trash for the gems or mine them from Hyjal, A vendor in Hyjal sells most of the Designs for gold. Requires the Scale of the Sands rep. WoTLK gems can be aquired from onyxia or prospecting titanium ore and the recepies are sold in dalaran for Jewelcrafter tokens. MoP enchants can be applied to the wotlk gear. Get gear and Gem and enchant it. No exception.
Cata flasks and food is mandatory.
Learning the encounter
The encounter tactics hasn't changed at all, the dps requirement is a lot tighter now and the healing... the healing. Let's just say you need more healing per second on this encounter than you would need on several SoO normal encounters.
Watch old tactics videos on youtube, read up on the encounter and get a few tries on it while being boosted for gear, the main part is to learn how cosmic smash works, how far you need to be from it to take min dmg and such. Get a feeling of the encounter. Don't show up not knowing what to do do.
If the class you are playing is new to you you should learn to play it very well before attempting this. Spend time reading up on your class and spend some time on training dummys.
Finding a group
Open raid should be a good place to search for a group.
This encounter is at this point roughly as hard as prenerf heroic (mythic) encounters was. Would you bring players with no gems or enchants to mythic? no and you ain't bringing them here either. They are mandatory to get this achievement. Would adivse you not to even join a group where people aren't gemmed and enchanted unless you want to practice the tactics a bit. It is going to fail. Miserably.
You will need 2 tanks 3 healers and 5 dps.
He has 4 257 600 hp and dies at roughly 5% and has 6 min enrage. This means you will need to do 4044720 dmg in 6 minutes or 11235.3 dps/sec on the boss. I would recommend not bringing dps under 3000dps, star killer will have lower dps and tanks should bring somewhere around 1k each.
Healing on this boss is never really enough. 4k+ hps should be what the healers are aiming for or atleast 12k+hps raidwide.
Tanks should be 50-60k hp flasked and buffed.
If you are setting up a group or in a group this should be minimum if people can't do it just replace them as fast as you can. They are not pulling their own weight.
Gonna start with this image of him wrecking a decent geared warrior tank, no flask or food buff at the moment but still. He's capable of throwing out this kind of sustained dmg. This is not any special ability or something this is sustained melee. Add a star dying to that and you are facing 44k in a second.
The encounter dmg should definatly be nerfed to be less spiky, it seems like he isn't adapted to the new way of healing.
Tank switches. These will come every now and then and the tanks needs to announce their switch way before they do it. If you just taunt without healers knowing in advance you are gonna die.
If more than one healer needs to move from cosmic smash tanks are most likely gonna die. So spread your healers.
Don't kill stars near players, should be a no brainer. Dps can move healers really can't move much at all because of the insane ammount of dmg going out on tanks.
When you walk into a black hole during big bang move towards algalon and group up there for easier raid healing and to easily be able to get heals of on your tank. If you are standing where a black hole is when you get phased out you will get phased right back in.
Save hero for last phase.
Proof of Demise
If you have any questions on anything feel free to ask.
Learn from my mistakes
It might look like i'm ranting a lot.
However i did around 60 tries where we never even broke 50% due to people not being geared, lacking gems and enchants, flasks and food, not having a clue about the encounter mechanics or simply not having a clue on how to play their class. So this is much of a list of things people did wrong or had a hard time grasping.
It would save everyone a lot of wipes and time if you simply came as well prepared as you could and knew the things written here.
And it would have saved me a lot of time if i had the common sense to leave when people weren't as well prepared as they should have or the raid leader was to weak to kick the people being bad.
Learn from my experience or you a doomed to repeat the wipefest i had to go through.
A surprising number of players still try for this achievement. Finding a group via forums was simple.
I did this today (12/7/2014) with a pug off Openraid and is still obtainable. The damage is still spikey on the tanks but is manageable with 3 healers and you can move without fear that the tank is going to die. The biggest thing that helps is using the new WoD enchants since reforging was removed.
I obtained the AV on 11.01.2015 with a group organized on the Forums.
I recommend 3 Healers as the damage from the stars is pretty decent. We also did it with just one Tank. The trick was that when our tank got ported with his 5 stacks our rogue tanked the boss for quite a while with evasion and other dmg reducing cooldowns.
You will need a few trys to get into the flow but it is defenitly obtainable, but a lot harder than in MOP.
Here is proof that I killed him in WoD
And as other commenters stated: the WoD enchantments are a huuuge boost for most classes.
I wish all others who try a lot of luck and fun!
We just did this without WoD enchants. It isn't all that hard, anyone saying it's like it was in Wrath is wrong. Back then, the enrage timer was a problem. Today, the fight is unlikely to go longer than two Big Bang's. I believe it is possible with 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 3-4 DPS though bringing 10 people is highly recommended.
So, are some of the lower-level items now better-suited for Herald than the Naxx/ToC/Uld gears due to the stat squish? For instance, I'm looking at something like Ethereum Nexus-Reaver or Hammer of the Naaru vs. Garfrost's Two-Ton Hammer (for 2H Str DPS); the Reaver is 7 less DPS, but has two additional sockets for more Strength & offstats.
Is it possible to equip and use the gear dropped from Algalon himself, when attempting Herald?
Any idea if Timewarped gear works? On my level 80 alt I got a helm from a timewalker BC dungeon that was 187 iLevel
I FINALLY got this achieve and it wasn't as hard as you would imagine. Mechanics, decent DPS, and you will be fine. Watching the videos to know what to do certainly helps out a lot, so take your time and check them so you know what to do
We did it in a full team (2 tanks, 3 healers and 5 dps), only 1 dps had bad gear (looms mostly) the rest of us were almost BiS, with epic gems, enchants, flask. Focus on boss, just another walk in the park :)
If your character died during combat, don't release the spirit as it might prevent achievement from completion on this particular character.
Just to give a heads up for people wanting to complete this achieve in WoD onwards, several things can possibly prevent the achieve from triggering.
Don't have any items transmogged of a higher level than the item level requirements for the achieve
. (This was kind of 'verified' by a gm who told me that there were reports in the system about it causing problems).
Don't use timewarped pieces.
(This wasn't confirmed, but I was told it possibly could have been the reason. My group didn't get the achieve, and no-one seemed to have tmog of a higher ilvl, but one person did have a 200ilvl timewarped piece.
I guess it's better to be cautious just in case. (So you don't have to be sadly let down after months of prep and excitement!)
On another note, the fight was pretty cruisey with 2 tanks, 2 healers, and 6 dps. We used a Mage's Cauterize talent for the Big Bang.
Since I've been helping organize a Herald group, I've been trying to gather resources for everyone, thought I'd share what I've found and put together.
Disclaimer: I am by no means an expert, if anyone has any better gear for any of these classes let me know and I'll edit the lists.
Preparing for Herald of the Titans and Gear lists
edit: This is the updated guide that I put together after getting my achievement and having completed Herald quite a few more times. The guide has all the information that I compiled for my group as well as having the mechanics explained and some advice that I found relevant for getting the achievement done. Good Luck!
My guild and I just did this last night, after having all of us level new toons for it and have mains run people through Ulduar 25 (non hard mode) every week. We all got our achievement as well.
Still possible as of patch 6.2.4, just took some time to get everyone on and geared.
If you are looking for an easy guild social event that takes a little bit more dedication, try it out.
How easy is Herald in 6.2?
Find out :) Going over my own experience getting it. We did it fairly easy! Hope it's useful
Before going and trying to get BiS items that you'll get rid of after you get this achievement, go and take a look at the vendors around Dalaran.
Inside your factions base they have lots of vendors with all sorts of gear starting at 200 and going up to 226 and beyond.
They even have some tier pieces available (and tokens to buy them). Also the leather/mail, cloth, and plate vendors sell missing items as well.
The items cost a shiny gold coin to purchase, but if you're only need is the achievement you might be willing to dish out the gold.
So I just ran it, used my reg gear while killing all the other bosses, and then went back and killed Algalon (I stripped down and only used gear from the bosses I just killed) and I didnt get the achievement... What gives? Did they remove it?
Legacy set bonuses do not seem to work any longer as of Legion Pre-Expansion Patch, 7.0.3. even at the correct level for the set.
Edit: ALL Gem slots are also now prismatic for old gear so you can just gem flat primary stats.
Ok, I'd like to make sure of a couple things here. My guild is planning on doing this soon and I'm still a bit confused on the gear thing.
it says "
Defeat Algalon the Observer in 10-player mode at level 80 without anyone in the raid wearing any equipment with an item level higher than is available in 10-player Ulduar
." Some of the gear from Ulduar 10 man is 219 and some is 226. So what are we allowed to equip? 219 or 226?
Have anyone checked if you get the achiv as level 80 ulduar geared and being boosted by level 100 guys with lowered ilvl to match the requirement?
Do NOT bring Legion Invasion gear to your Herald of the Titans run. For some reason the achievement doesn't see it at the correct item level and if anyone in your raid has a single piece equipped it will NOT award the achievement.
Is this title still obtainable as of the current patch as long as all of the above guidelines are obtainable? Just curious before I try an attempt all the trouble so of farming this gear up? thank you in advance
I did this when it was current but I never used to have the title. After coming back to the game and check my feats of strength I find that this was completed in Nov 2016. Blizzard retroactively fixed this I'm assuming?
Really stoked I can finally use the title I earned so long ago!
Please comment if you would be interested in making a group for this achievement and what role you would like to play as! I will check for comments daily!
I have a equipped alliance monk. If somebody would take me with his/her group i would be very thankful! :)
Based on changes to the achievement text in the 7.3.5 ptr, it appears it will still be achievable even with the timewalking changes to Ulduar.
"Defeat Algalon the Observer in 10-player mode at level 80 without anyone in the raid wearing any equipment with an item level higher than is available in 10-player Ulduar. "
"Defeat Algalon the Observer at level 80 without anyone in the raid wearing weapons, shields, or off-hand items higher than Item Level 232, or any other pieces of armor higher than Item Level 226"
Looking for a group on Herald of the Titans achiev.
I can provide:
: tank warrior lvl 80(also can dps, got pots, flasks, food everything)
: disco, shadow priest lvl 80(still gonna need to get some gear and so on but its also doable like this)
If theres some party planning this achievement by any chance I would rly welcome to join you.

Im easy to catch up as im usually playing wow and Im mythic raider. If you couldnt catch me on my battlenet or I wouldnt add you by any chance you can still catch me on my main char(try to type me there) :
Gonna look forward !
Please tell me this is still obtainable with 7.3.5 !
Got my lvl 80 Monk ready since months, but my lazy ass friends couldn't be bothered
This does not seem possible now with Algalon having a different scaling. He went from 4.2M HP to around 25M HP.
26-1-18 Solo'd as 110 Shadowpriest.
1) Unequip your gear
2) Pull boss naked
3) Kill the first collapsing star that spawns, and enter the portal in order to make the boss reset.
4) Kill the boss (NAKED) and wait for the loooong RP to get your Herald Of the Titans tittle!
WARNING: Melee classes will have a problem doing this since cant use attacks.
LOWER THAN 232 ilvl
weap, just to be able to kill him in time before he resets again
There was another comment but got deleted.
Now that Ulduar supports flex-sized raids, would having a full raid of 30 players prevent you from obtaining the achievement?
Anyone know whats happening to this in BFA now that the raid is one size and ONLY drops Ilv. 100 gear.
With the stat and item level squish in BFA this achievement is for item level 100 items.
264 before the patch is ilvl100 now, so it's icc 25m normal or 10m heroic and anything lower, obviously.
As of BfA prepatch 8.0.1, stats have been squished and the item level requirement for this achievement has been changed to 100 to reflect that. A big upside of this is that you can farm any WotLK dungeon or raid for gear, as they all drop item level 100 loot on normal difficulty.
Hey, with the down time between expansions a friend and I are looking for a few 80 twinks that are down to do herald of the titans.
Battle.net is Drownss#1711 Anything is welcome just meet the requirements please.
It seems the maximum ilvl requirement has changed in 8.0 BfA prepatch to 100, which seems to now include all WotLK raid loot, from Naxxramas to ICC25H and Ruby Sanctum gear.
Anyone know if it's still possible to do this? I doesn't show up anymore when I search for it in-game.
I ran this earlier with a group and we learned that you
use a previous lockout with the bosses up to
cleared (even if they were cleared with characters that meet the requirements for the achievement).
However, leaving the raid and entering again in a new lockout awarded the achievement after killing
As of April 2019 you can no longer use a 120's lockout to skip to Algalon. You will instead have to do both Flame Leviathan and XT with your 80's group, and then finish by killing Algalon.
Source (German forum):
"You can no longer prepare IDs with 120s. That means you have to play XT and Flame Leviathan with an 80s group."
"For the moment, that seems to be so. An exploit and bug has recently been fixed, this adjustment ensures that the entire run for success at level 80 must be met."
The achievement is obtainable again in 8.3.
We couldn't get it for 3 or 4 weeks, but Blizzard appears to have fixed the issue now.
Wonder how this will work in shadowlands now that everyone will be lv. 60 again
As of 8.3, this fight can be incredibly difficult mainly because the visual for
has a tendency to be completely invisible. From what I can tell, it's somewhat based on your camera angle.
It's a much better idea to adopt a stacking strategy and have everybody move together once it's cast.
I think it's bugged again.
Popular WoW streamer and Hairoic raider, Asmongold, attempted this on stream last night but didn't get the achievement.
: Not bugged. They had a level 120 clear some of the trash which invalidated the achievement.
Obtained today after 2 sessions on it ! :)
Is this bugged in BFA? Its 9-29-2020. One week out until the prepatch for Shadowlands hits. It should be released Oct 6. I am wondering if we are still able to do this achievement and if there is any work around? Please advise anyone? Thank you.
With Shadowlands prepatch released, requirements had been updated, now they are:
Defeat Algalon the Observer at level 30 without anyone in the raid wearing items higher than Item Level 35.
How do you do this achievement post squish with ALL the healers missing their AOE heals?
Can we get a more updated post on this since the new pre patch is released. My guild is going to gear up we wanna know what we can do and no do!
Thanks to the item level squish, it would seem that the updated requirements open up the possibility of gear from Trial of the Crusader and Icecrown Citadel, both of which were previously too high item level for the achievement.
After several tries the last days - we came to a conclusion: This achievement is now, with the pre patch, not possible. Not even XT is possible, Algalon ... well.. raid destroyer again.
- Heal classes miss too much aoe heal.
- Mana system complete broken, most mana classes go oom around 70-80% of boss health.
- Most classes miss important skills (tank def cd)
Maybe a really good, professional group can do it... but for us its impossible.
We geared every alt with it's "now SL prepatch" BiS gear - complete broken trinkets, good enchants.
On the damage side you see, we do around 100-150% more dmg than before sl-prepatch, but thats all.
gear checking macro
, working with the API changes, and correctly flagging (and ignoring, respectively) the right items, regardless of their origin:
/run local c=0 for i=1,19 do local loc=ItemLocation:CreateFromEquipmentSlot(i) if C_Item.DoesItemExist(loc) then local ilvl=C_Item.GetCurrentItemLevel(loc) if ilvl>35 then c=c+1 print(ilvl,C_Item.GetItemLink(loc)) end end end print("Issues found:",c)
Just done it today and it was fun to do so.
Now its ilvl 107? Damn it! I nearly had my character decked out fully.
I was working on a twink for fun while waiting for DF, but the last "phase" of the prepatch brought some ilvl rescaling that messed it up:
Ilvl from lvl 30 raids now scales from 97 (MC, T4, T7) to 115 (25H ICC, Ruby Sanctum), and the achievement requires your items to be ilvl 107 or below.
Existing items as well as crafted raid or vendor items are still at their old ilvl, i.e. completely useless. If you had a char geared from before you'll need to regear it again.
Quest rewards from outdoor quests seem to have been scaled up, e.g. my level 29
from before the patch got scaled up, albeit only to ilvl 72.
Quest rewards from raids (e.g. Algalon's quest rewards) seem to have stayed at ilvl 35 or lower.
is unfortunately also still stuck at ilvl 28.
ICC, Ruby Sanctum, as well as 25 man ToC are all too high ilvl to be used, similar to how it used to be in earlier expansions. However, Sunwell Plateau loot is somewhat bizarrely also above the ilvl cap.
Dungeon gear is also a lot less useful than before, with lvl 30 normal dungeons dropping ilvl 89 gear and heroics dropping 91.
Lastly, a lot of enchants that were previously used for twinking have ilvl restrictions such as level 40, 50, or 60, which means they're no longer usable.
The Dungeon Journal isn't completely accurate with the drops, showing some sources still dropping ilvl 30ish loot when in reality it's much higher, so I've tried to summarise the raids here:
MC, Kara, Gruul, Magtheridon, T7 10 man:
T7 25 man:
BWL, SSC, TK:
AQ20, AQ40, BT, MH, Onyxia 10, ToC 10N:
SWP, Onyxia 25, ToC 25N, ICC 10N, Ruby Sanctum 10N:
ToC 25H, ICC 10H, Ruby Sanctum 10H:
ICC 25N, Ruby Sanctum 25N:
ICC 25H, Ruby Sanctum 25H:
The TL;DR is that Wrath raids past Ulduar (except ToC 10 man) are all above the cutoff ilvl, as well as SWP. Everything else is fair game.
While it remains to be seen how much of this is intended, you probably shouldn't expect Blizzard to pay much attention to lower level content early on in Dragonflight.
Later Wrath raids being too high ilvl is likely intentional to make it more like how it used to be, but vendor and crafted raid items being ilvl 35 and enchants being unuseable seems like an oversight.
