This achievement won't be too hard to do if intentionally going for it as you are intended to do this in the first place to lower the raid-wide damage of Shattering Star. However, given that you lose all un-used pillars after each infernal burning phase, you will need to position them carefully to get the most hits per star to avoid a wipe to the berserk.
Ideally, the best way to do this is to have the pillars as close to a line as possible pointed at the boss, so positioning the ranged in a line will give the best results. It's recommended to do this on Normal mode to remove Fel Eruption from the encounter, which can eat up a fourth of the room and will destroy pillars within its zone. With those gone, the only things that will break pillars other than Infernal Burning will be misplaced Crashing Comets and the boss himself walking over them. However, do bear in mind that you need to have at least one pillar left to line of sight Infernal Burning or you will take a very high and likely unhealable amount of damage without heavy cooldowns or immunities, so leave one up to use. If you want to play it safe, have a few people stand to the sides from the intended bowling alley to try to bait a pillar to use as the hiding spot, then bait all pillars to go down the line you want to use.
Another note is that, as of current tuning, Infernal Burning happens every minute in the fight. Shattering Star has its target picked in the x:24 moment in that 1 minute cycle, and launches at x:30. From the PTR logs my guild's raid has used, there are two waves of spikes that will usually spawn before the star is launched with another one after before Infernal Burning. Try to use these two waves as the ones to break for the achievement and then use the last set as the defensive wall as they will be broken anyways. This wasn't always consistent though, so be careful
Haven't attempted this yet since my guild was just smashing through on Heroic, but I'll update if any of the info changes after we specifically try for it.
You'll likely have to hold DPS, since Spikes will take quite a while to spawn. This will be easier to do on Normal than Heroic since the Fel Eruption is a Heroic-only mechanic and it destroys Spikes. You'll want to ensure you're moving Crashing Comets out fast if they're on you to avoid breaking Spikes, and make sure the boss stays far enough away that he isn't breaking them by stepping on them.
Strat is simple. Spawn 2 sets of Spikes in a line, let the Star destroy them by having the person it's on run behind them so the star travels through all of them. Then spawn the next set of Spikes and hide behind them for Infernal Burning. Rinse and repeat until you have 30 destroyed by Stars, then kill the boss.
FrostyShot#1667 if you have questions.
Rather simple achievement, over the course of the fight he spawns pillars under or near ranged and healers, you can have everyone stack up and when the Shattering Star mechanic goes out you can go bowling. At the start of the fight he only does one star per AoE, but after a while he started doing two stars per AoE. More pillars will spawn between the stars and the AoE so don't worry about leaving any alive to hide behind.
Handy tip is to move the boss so he lines up with the pillars making it easier to break more at a time.
Place world markers in a line and have your ranged dps and healers stack up on them so that Goroth spawns the
s in a straight line pointed towards him. Once someone is marked by
they will have to go behind the pillars so that the star collides with the
s and destroys them.
Rinse and repeat until the tracker goes white and then you can kill the boss.(##RESPBREAK##)396##DELIM##Nightswifty##DELIM##

For anyone trying to solo this at 120:
I don't think it's possible to solo yet because you don't get enough spikes. I only got to around 20 destroyed by stars before he berserked. That being said, judging by how it went solo you should be able to duo this no problem as long as one of the people has a pet, or use 3 people with one person tanking.
You also need some kind of healing or damage mitigation because you're inevitably going to eat at least one full round of infernal burning, which you're supposed to block with spikes.
Super Easy to solo as a 475 brewmaster. Set Dave the ox statue right on the bosses spawn point and then don't touch him. Just continue to drop 2 to 3 spikes in a line and then let him bowl them down. rinse and repeat until the tracker shows the achievement white instead of red. He enraged for me around 18 spikes. I just continued to do the mechanic through the enrage periodically dropping a heal or two on Dave. When the tracker turns white finish him off. Easy peasy.
Just solo it on Warlock, it was tricky with enrage timer and to get used to mechanics. It was 10 man normal.
Grats to all those that can solo this one. You rejoice when he creates an 'Infernal Spike' only for him to destroy it with 'Infernal Burning'. Then he casts 'Shattering Star'. And I'm like 'but you just destroyed the Spike There is now no Spike to line up''. Eventually he doesn't do this so you get behind the Spike proud of yourself looking forward +1 (of 30 for the Achieve) but then a comet suddenly comes down a second or two earlier and destroys the one pillar you had lined up.
Once I even had TWO pillars almost line up. Alas he ran over one and destroyed it as I was trying to line them both up. Need pet class I guess. I watched the video on YouTube however I don't understand why Goroth never casted 'Infernal Burning' to destroy the Spikes? Someone in the comments section asked taht question but no answer given. Triple checked and I am on 10 player Normal
Despite healing myself for up to 2 minutes beyond Berserk I don't think I'm close
Pulled once with pet tanking and he kept casting infernal blasting before shattering star. Wiped up and repulled and he then kept casting shattering star before infernal blasting. Timings can be strange so may need more than 1 pull to get them right
Did this 8/26/22 as a BM hunter, 260ish ilevel. It was easy as a pet class: Just put your pet in the middle on passive and keep it healed, using FD if you get healing aggro. It takes quite a while to get 30 spikes down and the boss hits the enrage timer but is not strong enough to kill your pet through mend pet.
Level 70 balance druid 380 solo. It took well over 20 min to solo but very doable, the boss will however start doing some damage when berserk nothing serious my balance heals were more then enough to handle it there will be 2 pillars you can break every time before his pushback the boss have, that will break pillars. dont have the circle around you where pillars will spawn the thing called crashing comet after that wears off he is gonna charge you at this time move behind pillar. after these 2 pillars he will do the pushback again and you just repeat this 15 + times untill the achievment turns withe on tracker. Be patient i started to doubt it was gonna work because i didnt count them but the achievment turned white and i killed him and got it
I soloed this just now as a Combat Rogue on 25-man normal. You can't attack him, not even with fists, he dies way too fast. He puts down pillars. He puts a green circle around you. Stay away from the pillars while the green circle is around you (you'll see a gray patch on the ground before a pillar spawns). When the circle goes away, he will either cast an ability that destroys all pillars (and that's okay, hide behind one to avoid damage). Otherwise he will roll a green ball at you - hide right behind a pillar, right up against it. He will eventually enrage. Always face him so that you can dodge/parry as much as possible. I stayed alive by cycling through Crimson Vial, Evasion, Cloak of Shadows, and Shadow Dance (I didn't use any of Shadow Dance's abilities; I merely used it for the heal). A healing pot doesn't hurt if you have spares. Track the achievement and when it turns from red to white, finish off the boss.
