great loot in here :) my group only did to the coldbringer, via glutton, and we got the blue shoulders from glutton, the blue sheild from Ragglesnout, and the blue mail chest and the dagger from the final boss, along with about 10 green drops (weapons and armor) and 3-4 recipies, really fun insance to do, but its a bitch getting a group for it.

The final boss is noted as Tuten'kash (the spider) however that's the first boss and the real boss is generally considered the lich Coldbringer.

One of, if not the most, money making enchants is fiery right? this is the perfect place to go if you can solo it for those small radiant shards, a good hour and i got all four.

With the implementation of patch 2.3, the mobs of this instance have been reduced to 35-37 with the occasional 34. The bosses are all now level 37.

just wondering if any other paladins can tell me: Is it AOE grindable? cuz rfk is not AOE grindable because of the amount of healing from totems the mobs in there put down. Just wondering if it is the same here. Ive run it before just forgot :] any info is appreciated. thanks

It's worth mentioning that you can skip much of this instance. You can take the normal path clockwise from the top, fighting all of the bosses, or you can travel down the southern path and head straight for the final boss's spiral mountain.

With careful timing, a priest can be very useful here against certain groups.
Shackle one, mind controll one of the humanoids, the humanoids have shackle too so shackle another undead. Use cripple on one. Then all you have left is two mobs and one of them is crippled.

RFD is located in the southern barrens, just north of the great lift on the east side of the road. You'll see the meeting stone from the road. To get to the instance, just go straight and a little right. You'll see an enormous pig head made of branchs or something. Then you have to kill about 6 lvl 35 elite pig looking dudes one at a time to get to it.

This place has lvl 39-40 elites, mostly in groups of 2-3 elites and 2-3 non elites. They're almost all undead so priest can shackle away.

Go to the cathedral in stormwind to pick up the quest Bring the Lite (alliance, sorry no idea for horde). The quest reward is a 1h axe or a melee type necklace. This quest requires lvl 39 to pick up I believe. Once you're in the instance there is a guy that starts an escort quest as well. Please let me know if you know of any other quests, horde or alliance.

Once you're in the instance, go right and go past about 4 sets of mobs and you'll be in the spiral. As soon as you get into the spiral you'll see Glutton. He's a big ugly stitches dude. Do your best to pull him back up to the path you were just in and you'll be best off. I think he's a 39 elite. He drops either a green one handed axe or some sweet blue lvl 37 leather rogue/feral druid shoulders, luckily most of the time he drops the shoulders. Go right and follow the spiral up to Amnennar the Coldbringer.

There's about 3 sets of 2 elite guys that slowly patrol the spiral, be very careful to take them out as they will inevitably chain pull other groups of mobs on you. Additionally, there are about 3 sets of 2 non elite skeletons that run up and down the spiral, same story with them.
Take care to not go too close to the left side if you're lower than lvl 40, as you will aggro pull a guy on the edge above you. They will chain pull and there will be 50 guys on you by the time they run down the spiral to get you.

The rare spawn guy, Ragglesnout, will be about half way up the spiral by a hut if he's there at all. Everyone has different luck, but I've done this instance many many times and only seen him twice. He drops a sweet 2h sword, a blue shield and a mail belt, all lvl 39 or so. I got the belt once and the shield once.

At the top of the spiral (and after about 15 sets of mobs) is Amnennar the Coldbringer. She is a lvl 41 elite. About twice per fight she will do somethign to blast you back. If you keep your back to the wall there you will not fly far, otherwise she could blast you right off the edge and you'll get back in time to see your dead party and a $%^&ed off lich king. After she gets to gets down to about 75% health she summons 3 spirits to come help her fight, then again at 40% she summons 4 more. These guys all despawn when she dies so keep your dps on Ammennar. I've heard tricks about hunters using volley to aggro them all then feigning, just to buy time for them to run back and forth. Whatever you do, don't have your party separate and try killing them, you're wasting your time and your healer won't keep up. Of course, I"m talking about a party of lvl 39's, bring your 60 mage to grease them all and forget what I just said. Ammennar seems to mostly drop the mail chest and mail head armor, shammy gear if I recall. Next I'd say she drops the plate armor and cloth lich chest and the dagger least often. BTW, she drops 2 blues most of the time, sometimes just 1 blue and a green. Kill her to complete Bring the Lite quest.

AFter you kill her, go back down the spiral and where you took a right after killing Glutton, go left and you're on your way to Mordresh Fire Eye. Just follow that path until you find a fork in the road. You'll pass about 4 more sets of mobs and 3 patrols. The little skellies fall easily with some AoE. Have your warrrior aggro them all, hunter drop an immolation trap and use volley, then mage aoe's right along and they'll all fall in seconds. Mordesh starts throwing fireballs once most of the little skellies are pulled and it's hard to not pull them all at once. The warrior,pally or hunter's pet can easily tank him while you take care of the little guys. He drops a blue every time, a cloth belt, caster necklace or an offhand.

Now you can go to the back way to Tuten'kash. You'll end up in a small room with about 4 sets of mobs in it. Once you've cleared it, there's a gong in there, ring it once to summon a set of mobs, summon again, same thing, then the third time it summons Tuten'kash. He drops like 10 different blue gloves that can be good for anyone, some plate armor or a one hand mace.

This is a great place to farm Small Radiant Shard. If you kill all the Bosses excluding Ragglesnout, u should hav a minimum of 4 shards depending on how many blues the guys drop...
And this place is realllly easy for a hunter because u can just run to Tuten'kash, feign death, kill mobs around the gong, summon spidies, wait till they get to around the gong and attack 1 and most of them should pull, if other mobs pull kill the spiders and feign death or just slaughter others, and other bosses are easy, just run near a boss feign, stand back up, kill, DE drop.. =]

You can easily get MANY small radiant shards quickly from this instance. I generally run it in about 20-25 minutes, getting 4-5 shards and sometimes an extra one from the rare spawn Ragglesnout. Great money making.

Infact, I just got 6 shards, 3 from the first 3 bosses, 1 from ragglesnout and Amenar dropped 2. Woot =)

Completed this dungeon with only 2 people. (32 retri paladin and 33 elemental shaman) without twinked gear or bind to account items. We couldn't complete the escort quest But the rest can be done with only 2

There are quite a few powerful BoE (Bind on Equip) zone drops from Razorfen Downs. Their rarity is blue. (rare)

Here they all are:
Thoughtcast Boots
Corpseshroud
Briar Tredders
Boneslasher
Ebony Boneclub
Freezing Shard
Stormgale Fists
Quillshooter
Death's Head Vestment
Quillward Harness

They're all worth heaps of cash, if you loot them on your alt, I recommend selling them and getting the money for your mount, or compensating for the money lost if you already have the cash. If you're an alt, you could just equip any of them, if you needed them.

If you are a higher level running this for dungeonmaster or in a group and just wanna get it over fast, take a right as soon as you enter. Keep going and you'll find yourself in the final room. At the top of the spiral ramp/mountain is the Lich. Take him down for a fast run.

Easy money here. Level 71 Sub spec Rogue. Use your CDs to kill all the bosses. DE (125+) all the blues for Small Glimmering Shards. Each one should sell for 8-10g on the AH atleast on my server (Ursin). My fastest time is 8 minutes and 46 seconds. Goodluck.

Paladin and Shammy 2 man team took on RFD at lvl 36. (Quest and lower instance gear - no heirlooms) Not a great deal to say about this instance other than if you are sensible and take the mobs in their groups then you wont have any trouble. None of the boss fights are particularly tricky. The only issue we had was with the summoners on the way to the final boss. They caused us a lot of trouble spawning a lot of extra mobs, nothing wipe worthy, but gave us a few scary moments, advice here is to nuke them ASAP and then carry on as normal with the other mobs. Lots of nice loot kindly dropped and another fun encounter to add to our list.

RFD is a lvl 41-46 instance.The guys are 38-40 elites.At the start of the instance there is 40 elites on the right..I suggest going down the tunnel and try to avoid them.

A few notes on how to duo this, save some deaths for those who want to try (we got majorly owned our first time trying, first time for either of us in dungeon--second time there, no deaths at all).

First off, my wife, the hunter, is BM specced and we used DPS pet (very important). I'm fully resto specced. Doubt it is possible to duo it without full BM or Resto.

First fight is the hardest so ignore it (that would be the six elites on your right). Plow thro the level 34-37 pigs on your way to Tutan'whatever (named spider). When you get to the calling chamber, clear out mobs all around and past it just a bit (important). When you are ready to do first summon, park the hunter's pet and your druid back a room or two (a good place is the cliff over looking the spire area, which is now clear). Have the hunter bang the gong, run back into that room and FD. Cool, now the 12 spiders that would be eating you alive are split. Kill them 4 at a time instead of 12. Do the same for the 4 elite spiders. Two at a time instead of 4. Tutan'kash is cake comparatively. Loot your sweet gloves.

We ignored the rescue npc and the Mordesh Fire Eye (drops didn't appeal to hunter and druid). Now head back to the room with the cliff overlooking the undeads at the base of teh spire. Find a good spot when it's relatively clear to jump down. Make sure hunter dismesses pet and the recalls at the bottom (otherwise he'll take forever to get down and drag about 100 freinds to you).

Clear up to the top. We typically sent pet in on mobs in this order--Shrimp guys (nasty silence), ghouls (nasty AE + disease), skellie casters (wimps). You usually are facing a group of 4-5 with either 2 elites and 3 non-elites or 3 elites with two non elites etc. Pretty easy until you get to the top (more on that in a sec).

Kill Glutton. If you can't solo pull him and kill without breaking a sweat, hearth out now. No way you will beat the end boss.

Keep going up. When you start seeing skellie captains in teh group, put your pet on those first. Try not to take agro as druid--things can get ugly quick. If you do, throw some regens on the pet and you and pop into bear, weather out the storm. Rinse/repeat until you get to Ammemnar (whatever) The Coldbringer (boss).

Tricky fight. Go smoked the first time, tried to drain his mana (wrong!). Okay, so send pet with a regen on it. After he has agro, get into his little alcove area so he doesn't throw you off the cliff. His melee is pitiful. Conserve mana on him til about 80% health. At 75% he summons 3 friends. They are what will kill you.

Once his friends pop out, let pet get kind of low, then throw both regens and your best heal on him. The spectres will turn on you. Hunter should go FULL DPS at this point, beastial wrath, everything and the kitchen sink.

Drop regens on yourself. Pop into bear. Weather the storm. At 40%, The coldbringer will summon 4 more friends! Out of bear, throw all your heals on the pet, a few on yourself at some point (you should have innervated already btw) and go back into bear. Tank 7 spectres. Hope pet lives will hunter is going insane with dps.

Once coldbringer dies, his friends poof too. Even if pet dies, coldbringer will just cast at hunter, nothing she can't handle, since she hasn't been hit yet. She can keep shooting.

Loot your snazzy robes or dagger! Congrats!

Let me say a few things.

1. Thottbot doesn't give instance maps because Blizzard doesn't provide them.
2. If you want them, install Atlas or Google for one.
3. "Bring the Light" is the Alliance equiv. to "Bring the End" for Horde.
4. Look for more quests in "category: RFD" or "Find quests: Alliance/Horde: RFD"
5. The level for this place is a confirmed 37-46.
and 6. This is near Thousand Needles.

RFD can be pretty annoying if you do not have a good enough group. Be sure to have a priest who can dispell diseases... Also, if you die at all, be prepared for a good 5-7 minute walk back from the nearest graveyard each time. :)

Just figured I would let some of the leather wearers out there know that these gloves do drop in there when you kill the boss after hitting the gong three times. They are great gloves and are useful later on because they have +10 Nature resistance. So if you get them, don't get rid of them.

I started running this instance in regular groups when I was 35 priest. We have easily done the whole instance, all 4 bosses, plus the escort quest with all toons under 40 with little problem.

First time thru, the group was made up of

38 War
38 Shammy
37 Rogue
39 Mage
35 Priest

We AoE'd most of the time, and were done in less then 2hours.

Bring a mage, makes you life so much easier, and there are some nice drops in there as well.

Back, Chest, Waist, Wand, Off-Hand are all pretty nice for a caster.

I must say that this is a fun instance. Teamwork is crucial. If you have the right people with you, this is actually easy too.

For any priests who read this you will want to make undead shackle, cure disease, and dispel magic easily reachable as you will use this a lot in here. Atleast i have. good practice for endgame stuff. hopefull ct raid will make it easier to know who to hit with what.

For those rogues that have taken up Alchemy and Cooking:

It is possible to stealth to Henry Stern for the 2 items that he teaches you for free. Well, with 5 points in Master of Deception. It gets a little tricky when the boars run by but I did it with a little patience. Hope this helps.

As to hwat lvl you can enter ; I did today as a lvl35 hunter.

if u take a right at the entrance and go down to the second room between the rooms on the floor is like a couple racoon bear thing with a weird shadow and a skull for a belly button

razorfen downs gives some solid exp and graet loot i went in at lvl 37 (i was rested) and came out almost lvl 39 and i only went 3 fourths the way through though we did clear every single thing inculding right and left side then my party disbanded right before the final bosses that i need to kill

Fun instance and just cleared it with a four man group from 30-42. Bring a priest for CC and you'll be in good shape.

Get to Theramore Isle (either by boat or flying there). Go off the western shoreline and swim west until you reach 55, 49. This will allow you to reach land fairly quickly; also, it puts you closer to the western exit of the map without having to go around all the way north then west then south then west (you get the point).

Priests and Shamans, being able to walk on water, will be able to get there even quicker, especially if you happen to use a swiftness potion.

soloed as a lvl 48 bm hunter. took about 30 mins since it was my second run. the main thing you have to do is less your pet get all the agro. heal a bit kill the non-elites first then feint death if you have under 750 hp

Before I did this instance I checked out the loot drops on atlasloot and in there I saw a boss(I forget the name) that dropped X'caliber, which is by far better than anything I've seen at my level thus far (around level 40). However I couldn't find the boss anywhere, I probably searched for a good hour and killed everything in the instance.

Can anyone help me out?

Don't ever wipe in this instance. The run from the Tarajao GY is bested only by Ferales and Blade's Edge Mountains in BC when ranked by misery.
