First: Golemagg drops the Staff of Dominance and Azuresong Mageblade.

Second: Newer bosses often have better loot to inspire people to attend the newer instances. Also, AQ20 is not a pushover instance when done at the "expected" gear level.

Most casters seem to ignore hit, but with 5-6% hit, one's total raid damage can easily go up 3-4%

Our guild, having run AQ20 many times, has seen about a 12% droprate on this staff. Very well worth it; it doesnt get much better than this for awhile.

This staff is hands down the best for raiding pre Blackwing Lair/AQ40. The only other comparable weapon set up to this staff in said range is Azuresong Mage Blade and Jindo's bag of whammies, which together have about the same (2 less) +dmg and lack stats. +hit% with spells is a very underestimated stat by most new casters, as is spirit but that is primarily for raiding. This is also a great staff for PvP seeing as it has relivally high stamina and again +hit.
Having around 5% hit at all times is usally a good rule of thumb.

The hit%, as others have said, along with increased damage makes this staff a good upgrade for SoD with the only downside is the large int stat built into SoD.

Very good, all rounded staff for how easy it is to get. A lesser version of the Staff of the Shadow Flame or the Blessed Qiraji Acolyte Staff. A complete upgrade over SoD for any DPS casters, since int is pretty much useless. Warlocks prefer stamina, and Mages prefer spirit over intellect, and of course +hit and +dmg are always preferred.

My current staff and having the Regalia in my backpack I am not even thinking of going for the SotSF. Frost mages should really think about this staff over the Nefarian staff.

Ossirian is a fairly hard encounter that requires good coordiantion. Harder then anything in ZG or MC. And harder then some (not all) BWL/AQ40 fiths even.

Seriously if you take down Ossirian you will have no problem whatsoever clearing all of MC, provided you have the people.

Im just gonna say this - Blizzard purposefully makes staffs like this so that priets/druids/mages/warlocks can have other options for staffs other than Benediction, Staff of Dominance, etc. In all honesty its good for any casting class in the game. If you have earned the DKP in your guild and you win the item grats to you...You deserve it and it will serve you just as well as it would any other casting class. =D so lets be nice and not fight over it...

A raiding priest doesn't need to deal damage IN the raid that's true, but priests needs a way to grind all that cash that's needed for potions and repairing. As you know most guilds wants priests to spec holy, leaving Anathema out of the question since holy/disc priests don't have mindflay (holy SW:P and Mind Blast are pathetic)

Naked my smites hit for 422-470, with full tier 1 and benediction, it hits for 450-500. So how much damage does a mages frostbolt do when the mage is naked? And what does it do in full tier 1 and Staff of Dominance? Right, you got a bit bigger boost than a priest.

So you could tell the priest to just party up with someone and grind with them, that's why we got heals. But there's not guaranteed there is a friend of my online, and I don't like grouping up with strangers killing stuff when I don't know if a BoE epic is gonna drop or not which could save my raid bills for a few weeks.

- Priest with Mana igniting Cord, Staff of Dominance, Cloak of Consumption and more.

Wow this isn't a bad shaman staff either I checked and it has one of the highest low end and high end damage with good casting stats make it meaningful some for windfury or rockbiter. Besides the Fish terminator or the slavedriver's cane in Strat it's one of the best damage staffs :)

Nice staff, for most classes... Ossirian can be a @#$%^, and this is a nice reward... only 24dmg less than shadowflame... shows you how good it is for its relative ease to acquire

This is much better than the Staff of Dominance, and compared to the Staff of Shadow Flame it's only 24 damage less...

Very, very nice staff for a 20 ppl instance drop IMO. Well, I ASSUME it comes from the 20 ppl version AQ anyway, as the name implies it. :)

this dropped for the first time last night and a warlock won it he was one happy demon summoning bunny :)

id prob say 1st priority to locks / mages
2nd to druids / shaman
3rd to priests ( any guild that is downing orssion must of killed domo alot so should have be aiming for benediction )

If it drops in the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj, then it will drop from Ossirian the Unscarred (horror stories course around of his ability to hit people for well over 15.000 damage when critting o_O) OR in the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj (aka 40) from any boss .... m'eh, I don't care, I just wish it was a 1 h sword ;)

Drops from Ossirian the Unscarred, the final boss of AQ20. Yeah, it's one of the best staves in the game and my Mage will DEFINITELY be aiming for it when we begin to run AQ on Emerald Dream EU. Not as good as the Shadow Flame of course or the GM Staff, but it's unlikely I'll see either of them any time soon.

Actually he hits for around 13k normally (yeah...painful) but this can be countered by pulling him to the crystals in his arena which debuff him to hit for about 1k at a time.
