The Blood Moon World PvP Event Guide - Season of Discovery

The Blood Moon PvP Event is an open world, cross-faction PvP event in

that is perhaps the deadliest piece of endgame content in World of Warcraft Season of Discovery! In this guide, we'll outline the key features of the event, the basics of engaging in PvP combat, and best of all, earning rewards!
Changes to Blood Moon in Phase 6
The Blood Moon PvP Event has returned to Season of Discovery for Phase 6. While the event itself is primarily unchanged, it has all new rewards, detailed in the rewards section below.
Blood-Caked Coins are the new level 58 Blood Moon Event Currency in Phase 6 -
,
s, and
s have replaced their Bloodstained counterparts as the new primary Event Currency, obtained from player kills above level 58.
The Blood Moon PvP Event Overview
Though PvP combat shares a few similarities with PvE content, fighting dragons is
much
different than sparring against other players. In both PvE and PvP, patience, practice, and execution are certainly keys to success, but dragons don't change up their strategy when they're losing—players in PvP combat do.
The Blood Moon PvP Event is a frantic, fun, open-world PvP free-for-all that takes place in

every 3 hours, starting at 12:00 AM server time. PvP combat is one of the most exciting forms of combat in World of Warcraft because no two fights are ever the same. PvP relies on player skill, fast reflexes, and the ability to adjust combat tactics on-the-fly to meet the current situation. With that said, players of
all
skill levels can enjoy participating in the Blood Moon, so if you're brand new to PvP combat, there's no better time to start learning!

How do I participate in the event?
Players level 10 and up are eligible for PvP in Season of Discovery, and PvP under the Blood Moon is no different; however, just because you
can
doesn't necessarily mean that you
should
.

is a level 30-50 zone, and most of the enemy mobs are between the levels 30-45. For the best overall experience, we highly recommend players be at least level 40.
To participate in the Blood Moon, players need only be eligible for PvP and physically in
北荊棘谷
. The Blood Moon Event will begin automatically every 3 hours and lasts for 30 minutes.
Can I opt out of this event to avoid PvP?
Yes and no. Players can opt out of the Blood Moon Event, if desired, by speaking to a

located in Duskwood, Ratchet, Stranglethorn Vale, or Tirisfal Glades, and selecting the option “Emissary, may you grant me protection from the blood moon?” This grants the
buff which protects the player from the effects of the Blood Moon, but
normal PvP rules will still apply
if you're on a PvP server or are manually flagged for PvP on a PvE server. Opting out of this event is recommended for players questing in
北荊棘谷
who may not be prepared to participate in PvP combat.
Blood Moon Event Participation
There's more to the Blood Moon Event than simply fighting - players with a strong strategic mindset and a focus on tactics will reap more rewards while fighting beneath the Blood Moon.
Blood for the Blood Loa
Defeating other players during the Blood Moon rewards
, a unique event buff. This buff stacks up to 255, and every kill earned while under the Blood Moon grants 5 stacks. Be careful - while kills grant stacks, deaths take them away. Dying subtracts stacks based on a percentage of the total stacks that had been accumulated at the time of death. In simpler terms, the more stacks you have, the more you lose when you die.
can be exchanged for Massacre Coins, the primary event currency. This process is outlined in the "Earning Blood Moon PvP Rewards" section farther down.
Drained of Blood
In addition to losing stacks of Blood, dying will grant players the temporary buff
upon resurrecting for 20 seconds, which grants a brief period of invulnerability while restricting most actions—players with the Drained of Blood buff are able to mount and move, and they will appear invisible to all players not in their own party. This buff is incredibly helpful for repositioning and avoiding corpse camping after a losing fight, so use this to your advantage when resurrecting.
Kha’damu
is a Boss NPC that spawns in
北荊棘谷
during the Blood Moon, and he'll crush players without a second thought. He's hostile and unkillable, and he will one-shot any player foolish enough to be caught within range of his sword arm. Despite being
the
most dangerous mob in Stranglethorn Vale, players brave enough to fight within close proximity of Kha'damu will receive one of two unique buffs.
Players receive increased
per player kill while under the effects of the above buffs, with
being the stronger of the two effects. Additionally, players who are killed by

.
Joining a Group
While some players may find success solo, most players will join groups with other players. This means that a solo player is generally going to be at a disadvantage and may have a hard time competing. For the best experience, we highly recommend joining other players in a Blood Moon PvP group—safety in numbers, after all. While in
北荊棘谷
, General Chat is a great place to search for Blood Moon groups.
Group composition in PvP isn't that much different from PvE—ideally, you'll want at least one healer, 1-2 melee DPS, and 2-3 ranged DPS, though this is just a guideline. There are a few primary things to consider when putting together a PvP group—specifically, you'll want to ensure that the players in your group cover one or more of the following bases: damage, survivability, sustain, and crowd control. There are endless possibilities, but here are a few example group setups to help get you started:

Earning Blood Moon Blood-Caked Coins
PvP is fun in its own right, especially during the Blood Moon PvP Event, but what we're really after is the
rewards
. There are a ton of excellent rewards available through participating in the Blood Moon that aren't available anywhere else. Several of the gear items available are considered either best or pre best-in-slot for certain classes, and if that's not incentive enough, there are also two event-exclusive mounts available!
Exchange Blood for the Blood Loa for Blood-Caked Coins
As stated above,

The make or break for this event will be how much rep you get for participating. Those of us who tank are going to be screwed if it's all based solely on kills and their turn-ins.

Thanks for not telling where to find the NPC to disable participation otherwise the guide might have the potential to become half decent and as far as I know decent guides are a bannable offense on wowhead.

Some things Blizzard could do to make this event perfect
1. Make it so you LOSE 3 stacks of your "Blood for the Loa" whenever you kill a recently drained (ressed) target.
2. Make it so if you hang around a shrine 30 seconds after donating, you become illegible to earn Loa blood for 5 mins.
3. Make it so if you hang around a graveyard for 30 seconds without a "Drained" debuff you become illegible to earn Loa Blood for 5 mins.
Those 3 changes alone would get rid of degenerate play and make this event fun.

Can you elaborate on losing stacks of blood during the event. We definitely do lose blood, and it's unclear--in the chaos--if it's upon death. Some of my guildies swear it's for attacking others with the drained blood debuff.
It's also worth noting, as of 2/11/2024, the vendor does not sell the lumber to complete the AB turn in.
EDIT (2/17/24): As of yesterday, the vendor now sells the lumber and an honor token.

Idk why was good idea to use Diablo4 pvp event in wow since even there is issue ppl can just sneak at temples and make ambush for those who wants to turn in

Some additional info as of Feb 16:
1. The Zandalari Emissaries you speak to to opt out of the event are now also in Tirisfall Glades, Duskwood and Ratchet (basically right before you enter the zone through any means other than fp).
2. Kha'damu can spawn at a variety of locations across the zone. Once spawned, he doesn't get to roam very far and will generally stay close to that location throughout the event. You get double the coin gain if you fight near him. Personally I've gained as much as 800 copper coins in one event by staying near him, and I've heard of stories people getting as much as 1200. He can aggro on people and will guarantee 2 shot any player (1 shot if you're squishy). If you're killed by him, you don't lose any blood stacks. However, your equipment will suffer durability loss. Overall, it is highly recommended that you fight near him.
3. The lumber is not yet available rn at the vendor for Arathi rep.

Is it so that you can buy 2 or 3 class specific epic items? Or can you choose only 1. I know you can only equip 1 at the time.
But can you have if you are shaman the Sheila AND the 2H mace ?

An FYI I found out the hard way to make sure you have room in your inventory when turning in Blood or you will NOT get the coins and Blizzard will not assist you in getting them.

Any confirmation about whether Phase 2 items will be totally unavailable?
Reading that Phase 2 Currency is being phased out, without seeing the mounts purchaseable with the Phase 3 currency is concerning.
